I came back to Canada in 2022 after 20 years living abroad, and it's been a mixed bag. Getting a good job is extremely difficult as international experience is rarely factored into potential employers decisions to hire - even if the companies you've worked for are Fortune 500. If you didn't work for that company in Canada, good luck getting the same position. You'll be working in a junior position despite your previous job title. My wife is currently going through this. She went from Project Manager at one for largest companies in the world to junior developer at a small company. Pay is.......not great.\n\nI've been lucky with having a lot of support of family and friends. A lot of the clients I've started to work with in my profession came through people I know. I never would have got these opportunities on my own in that amount of time. It would have taken years. Nepotism played a big part.\n\nTo come to Canada, and start a new life without a solid support system would be absolutely brutal right now. I got really lucky, but my situation isn't normal. I wouldn't recommend anyone (Canadian or immigrant) to come back right now if they're been gone for a long time. The rent alone is enough to turn anyone away.

This is all our families home Canada our families lived here for a long time my great parents live her all our families lived here we never had refugees in our country's CANADA until you so called governments bought this Refugees in our country's CANADA you governments and immigration failed Canadians and our country's. We what you coppuption governments let us Canadians have our own governments NO refugees or immigration in our government.

We actually never wanted high immigration from the third world it was forced on us against our will.

I left in 1992 and came back in 2015 and left again for good in 2020 mainly due to the draconian covid restrictions. It was the best decision I ever made in my life and I have never looked back. From my point of view, Canada is beyond unrecognizable today and the leaders in Ottawa have sold the country and the people down the river along time ago and sadly the real serious Canada is nothing but a memory. I feel sorry for the immigrants who come to Canada and have a romanticized vision of the nation. They have no idea what they have gotten themselves into. How I loved visiting my Canadian friends in BC driving up from Seattle, even played premier Soccer there as a young man,mass immigration and drug laws has destroyed Canada like my beloved home Seattle,I left Seattle four years ago and likely will never return where I was born.

I hate how they were convinced any immigration is okay. In the Middle East they will NEVER EVER give citizenship. Sure you can immigrate and work there but the natives are paid higher and have citizenship. Europe should have done this. But now the west has fallen because of liberals .

Currently there are no emergency shelter beds in ontario, never mind Toronto. Next door to me there are a dozen seniors living in their cars in a parking lot....because their pension doesn't come close to rent costs. \n Of course our hearts welcome immigrants, as so many of us are as well. However, our system is failing as it is....how can we accommodate such numbers of new arrivals?

Classic. Just as I expected: not a SINGLE word about the fact that Germans themselves are leaving the country in droves. Why? Precisely because of the reasons mentioned at the end of the report, plus the number of people leaving for greener pastures more than doubled after 2015. Look up the BKA statistics if it hasn't dawned on you yet. Poland and Czechia are MUCH safer now than Germany. \n\nThe other thing that should have been mentioned are those tens of thousands of young Germans who don't aspire to learn a trade or get higher education. They aspire to nothing. I believe it's some 60K people yearly. That's a lot.\n\nAnd finally, despite all that massive influx of people since 2015, how come there is still a lack of workers? I'm genuinely interested in the employment rate among ppl who arrived in the 2015 wave and onwards. Even though German politicians of the currently ruling parties would never admit that the generous social benefits are a great pull factor for immigration, it's not hard to conceive, this is everday reality. \n\nIn conclusion, one could say that Germany is deterring the capable and attracting the incapable. Isn't this a sign of self-loathing and suicidal society?

Now that there are millions of immigrants in Quebec, it will never be possible to gain independence, since the immigrants will always oppose it.\nQuebec should have become independent decades ago but now it is too late.

How is it not about population growth? Especially bringing in 1 million immigrants per year? Of course Canadian government Was not building a country or creating infrastructure or logistics for these type of numbers back in the 80s or 90s let alone the 70s!\n\nThey would have never thought that this many immigrants would be able to enter our country in a single year, bringing in immigrants is supposed to help our economy like bringing in doctors yet our medical system is so far behind and it takes five years on a waiting list to get a family doctor!\n\nLet’s not even talk about the educational system where we are servicing foreign students and not taking care of our own citizens, not only education is too expensive but to live above poverty, while going to school has kept our citizens from education!

It's on the rise because the government is actively destroying the wages and welfare of actual Canadians by accepting ludicrous, record numbers of low-skilled immigrants.\n\nIf you are a skilled immigrant in Canada right now, this should make you furious; The governments policies are directly responsible for lower quality of life, an increase in racism (specifically toward Indian immigrants), and a massive sentiment shift in immigration. Canadian immigration is illogical, horribly planned, greedy, self-destructive, the list goes on... The worst part is that even if we somehow completely shut down our boarders (which will never happen), the recent immigrants are the type to establish much larger families than the average Canadian household. \n\nThink about how this will domino in the coming generations. Canada is doomed, it's already too late.

I am from Pakistan and all my friends and relatives moved to UK, US, Australia and Canada. When I say all I mean 18 out of 20 left Pakistan and they don't want to come back to Pakistan ever because who doesn't want a better lifestyle for themselves and for their future generations but my father advised me never to leave your country because no matter what other countries will never accept you as their own citizens. Instead of leaving your country try to make it better. \n\nToday I see exactly that happening throughout the world. They want their countries back and you see their hearts filled with hatred against these immigrants. Sooner or later these immigrants will have to sell everything and come back to their countries. What a wise man my father was!

Never voted right but there's a kind of immigration that is happening now in the West that is simply tearing at the stability of things. Even here in Portugal, it's getting out of hand. If you flood countries with people from radically different cultures, with radically different habits.......eventually you are going to destroy what that country had going for it.\n\nWe gotta stop this. 40 to 50 hours a week? I work that in Australia as an Australian. Indian universities aren't necessarily recognised overseas. Even then I've worked with many as engineers and got uber rides from many just as an example. Different cultural system. This is just my personal experience. \n\nYou have to remember that India has been studied as on of the most intolerant countries in the world. I've never got that impression from the majority of other nationalities I've worked with. Even had and engineer quit on his first ay because he couldn't accept another Indian as his superior. ?‍♂️ why?\n\nIm just saying. You can look up the worldwide studies that rank India so high for intolerance easily. These are large surveys. \n\nEnd of the day when you have large immigration spikes without infrastructure it is doomed and you will get a lot of misplaced hatred towards immigrants as low to middle class locals rents/ house prices explode. Not to mention the low skilled jobs that immigrants will do cheaper. \n\nImmigration is a cheap way for developed countries to increase GDP. Without planning and proper direction it will always fail on the whole. \n\nIm happy to debate my opinion with anyone. We all need a better approach.

Migration and immigrants would never benefit any coyntry in longer run.... tourism must be supported but not migration

It's not even that it's just Immigration, but it's only immigrants from 2 countries. Canada needs a cap on immigrants from each country. All these immigrants but I have never met a person from Spain? Never met a person from Brazil either. Even with immigration nobody integrates. They talk all about diversity but everything is like a Clique. The russians only hang out with other russians. The Koreans only hang out with other koreans etc.

It is fact there is a worldwide problem regarding ILLEGAL immigration.\nNumerous countries are being plagued by unknown individuals who have no respect for the said country.\nDemands are made and its never enough and never will be. There will be no end in sight anytime soon.

If Canadians are unhappy about immigration, that literally means it’s an indisputable scientific fact that there are immense issues with our system. The dark and disgusting side of this that doesn’t get talked about is how many newcomers leave shortly after spending everything they have to boost our GDP before they realize they’ll never get the opportunity or life they were promised here. I don’t think it’s just Canadians that see immense issues with our immigration system.\n\nImmigration also implies diversity. Not just flooding the country with millions of people from one section of the world.\n\nWe are indeed in a catch 22 though, because with the lack of replacement birth rate we’ve had, we can’t simply haunt immigration. But the asinine quota needs to go down. This all boils down to basic math and basic economics. There are no excuses for how badly this has been botched.

Canada has to start recognising degrees from other countries. Here in B.C. we have emergency rooms closing overnight due to lack of staffing. We need doctors and nurses yet the barriers for those immigrating to get their degrees recognised mean many never qualify.\n\nCanada also needs to look at who we are admitting in and to terminate the family unification policy. When immigration was helping the country grow there was a different demographic coming in. Often it was single men or young married couples. As they came by themselves they assimilated into the mosiac of the country. When you concentrate on immigrants from one country instead of assimilating they setup ethnic communities. \n\nLook into what study groups have said that is contributing to gang violence. It's ethnic groups that have the grandparents, parents and grand kids all living in one home. The grandparents want the grand kids to adhere to their native culture. Unfortunately by time you get to the grand kids they are Canadian. They speak English/French depending where they live with little interest in speaking their ethnic language. There is cultural conflict within the home hence street life is where they find love and caring.\n\nSome cultures are not as community minded. Part of the high cost of renting/housing is based on greed not need. In my own community I know of apartment units now renting at 2,500 - 4,000/month owned by the same people that even five years back you could have rented for 500 - 800. There is no justification for that percentage of increase other than greed.\n\nJob opportunities. Summer employment for school kids is going down yearly. You see local business that use to hire students over the summer month claiming they can't find any workers. They bring in TFW yet Canadian students can't find work. You can tell the owners nationality of a business by the nationality of the workforce. A local store bought by a east Indian two years ago which at the time had a diverse workforce is now entirely staffed by east Indians. Yet who screams racist? \n\nCanada definitely needs to reconsider its immigration policy and bring in major changes.

Its quite simple. Immigrants are easy to blame. I see it all the time, immigrants getting in trouble for things that citizens never get in trouble for.

Ignorance has never been more rampant in Canada. This is an issue on both sides. Immigrants themselves not willing to integrate while Canadians are becoming increasingly bitter about newcomers.

As an Indian student, i would like to share with you my perspective \n1) you will never see me dancing in public, blasting music and littering \n\nI actually spend my sundays cleaning plastic from trails \n\n2) i am a full time student for 4 years funding over 90 grand for a bachelor on top of that paying my taxes and paying 1100$ a month for rent being limited to 24 hours a week I do not work outside campus I work the job the college provided to me \n\nThe problem comes up when people use the 1 year and 6 month diploma program to enter the country and work here full time \n\nThey associate themselves only with indians mainly because they cant speak the English language fluently \nTherefore they associate with the exact people they associated with back home \n\nHow will they adapt to a new country if they hang out with the same people \n\n\nI came to canada with a goal \n\nTo make Canadian friends \nLearn about Canadian culture \nStart a new life \nAnd work my ass off to get my degree \n\n\nMost people move here to make more money \n\nThey sell their land and do so \n\nPlease do not associate hard working indians who adapt and leave their past behind with these people who have come here purely to exploit the system\n\n\nTrust me I know it's hard to hear this but good Indians do exist. I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

Canada was never like this until JT and Sean Fraser started uncontrolled immigration

When I came to Canada as student 10 years ago I \n- never planned to work part time when I was in school. I only made the move when I had enough money to live and thrive without off campus jump\n- I am SHOCKED when people say they aren’t prepared. Where is google buddy. \n- I was planned enough to not take up any low skilled jobs. Today I earn in 6 digits. \n- As immigrants we need to also accept Canadian values and not bring our crazy practices from back home. Grow up buddies.

The problem is that people don’t understand that Canada is a federation. There needs to be coordination between the federal government and the provinces. Canada lets people in, provinces provide the services. Canada doesn’t build housing, provinces and municipalities do. Canada doesn’t build schools. Canada doesn’t build hospitals. This is a federation and until people understand the country they live in, they will never solve all the challenges ahead. Just like Quebec, all provinces should negotiate with the federal government to provide immigration permits according to their needs. The more Ottawa centralises everything, the bigger the problem will become.

I will never understand a government being like “Oh you want to immigrate here? I guess I’m now responsible for 100% of your life. Come on in.”

Actually Canada has never had an over population problem until now. The real question is why is Canada encouraging over population. A million immigrants a year is unsustainable. Everyone knows it.

The immigration system in Canada is a fraudulent criminal enterprise. Its sole purpose is to fleece unsuspecting people of their life savings and future economic output. \n\nImmigrants are sold the lie of the Canadian dream, bilked of their money on immigration services, then deposited into permanent tax enslavement, as they will never have the opportunity to invest in themselves or their communities.\n\nThe sheer scale of the plunder, not just of the immigrants themselves but of born-Canadians as well due to second order effects, is much more vast than is generally perceived.
