This makes so much sense and I understand why there are so many international students in canada. I knew a guy who would recruit people for work in Canada and he would get paid 2000 or so per person. It's like importing slaves and slave labour. I guess we all get exploited at some point.

I was today speaking with the eligibility process to Canada. Was perfect scoring and super high scoring in everything, from being great great granddaughter of an ingenious individual they forced into re-educational school, speak fluent English and some basic French, to would be moving as a social work graduate with prior HND in Accounting, under 30 etc. Got moved onto process until I mentioned I was autistic, a, guy had adactiy to ask if it is severe or mild (my replay was oh im a spicy garlic herb which he did not like before correcting there is not such a thing), and b) inform me I am not permitted in spite being high functional applying unless I get a government job and they sponser me.... I was applying after being informed Canada got rid of this discriminatory policy because my dream was always Canada or New Zealand

Of course, if you're successful elsewhere, why discard it to move to the West? Otherwise, this guy isn't saying wnything that's not alreeady known! In developing countries, you don't get security, good publi education, utilities 24/7, a working government, no social safety net (aka welfare), etc and you're absolutely on your own. You can't discuss any one thing in isolation. The difference is day and night. Also, time is money and everyone has to be accountable and responsible with both. As an employer. would he appreciate his employees getting paid to waste either and get paid for it? A reason developimg countries aren't doing well is because they fail to understand this, hence the waste of time and everything running late and not as quality. If it was great, why are the developing countries' economies so bad. As an immigrant myself, I know, understand, and appreciate this and think until developing countries appreciates this, they will continue to struggle.

What I find annoying is how dumb these guys are, coming in public to say this non-sense and still stay. He only focused on differences in work-life balance, salary comparison and racial bias but he failed to mention differences in insecurity, basic living facilities; health, electricity, rule of law, working government. I'm Canadian and worked in Dertoit for almost 10 years, I crossed the border daily working for GM. I've also done work in Louisiana, Indiana and all around Michigan. \nAmerica has some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. It's a beautiful country and has a ton to offer anyone with an ounce of drive. The variety you have in your economy is amazing, we don't have a lot of choice when we buy stuff, you guys have so much more to choose from, take restaurants for example, I've never seen so many chain restaurants in one place, we have a handful of them. \nFrom what I've seen, there's also a lot of poverty, crime and violence, but that's literally everywhere right now, even here in Canada, we don't prosecute violent crime anymore. The gun issue is probably the biggest problem...I always felt extremely vulnerable out in public, especially driving, because I assumed everyone had a gun on them, I seen so many random guns on people, it just blew my mind. I always had to keep in mind when I was driving not to road-rage...That's how you get shot. The health care industry in America is nothing but a business model designed to bankrupt people. Our system isn't great at all...nothing to boast about. If you have to visit the ER at any hospital, you'd better bring food and water, you'll be there at least 8 hours before you're even seen by a doctor. Our health care is free yes, but we're taxed to death here because of it. I do indeed wish we had a 2-teir health care system, I want the option to pay to get seen soonest. America and Canada have free(ish) speech. We're both being ruled by leftist loonies, but that's all changing in our next respective election cycles. Biden and Trudeau will be shown the door and we can hopefully get back to healthy debate and more conversation in society...Instead of automatically dismissing each other, vitriolic badgering one another and hating each other. We had unity for a brief time, we all saw it, after 9/11 happened. We put our petty crap aside and saw each other as brothers and sisters. That didn't last very long and we've been in a constant state of crisis ever since. Canada has another problem that you forgot to cover. Canada isn't an entrepreneurial nation like America. Canadians are less risk taking compared to Americans which means you can have an influx of immigrants but less jobs for them therefore they will leave back to their own countries again. Most of the top employers of engineers in Canada are foreign companies, not local. Salaries in America are high due to the immense labor competition for engineers as there are more startups and entrepreneurial people. \n\nThen in Canada they require certain Canadian certifications especially for doctors which isn't as bad as in the US. So you have some engineers or doctors that end up working low paid jobs since they would have to repeat school in Canada from an accredited Canadian university. I don't see this as a problem for the US at all because these immigrants aren't going to create new companies and are merely looking for a job. Canadians not being as entrepreneurial and not starting companies to compete for the talents of these professionals will just result in these professionals working out of the Canadian offices of American and Asian tech companies.\n\nOverall not a win or loss for America. Even if these guys end up working in the Canadian division of American companies, American companies will still have the benefit of their talent which is a win at a lower cost for the US companies.

I'm a Chinese Born Canadian trying for a green card and this hits close to home. \n\nI have a coworker grew up in the Midwest, who doesn't know how to read or write Chinese but faced the risk of being deported back to China because his father never managed to get a green card. This guy had a PhD in Machine Learning and was one of the smartest people i knew. \n\nI would've felt supremely guilty if i'd won the lottery but he was stuck on his student visa, given that I can work in the US on a TN but he needs an H1B to stay.

You can never save money. All your money goes into the mortgage. The system here allow laziness for the lazy people. I have a work visa for the US and go there often. I go to many places that are not in the cities. I'm actually in South Dakota as I write this and find it to be a very pleasant place. I generally find everybody to be very friendly but can't help feel there are some topics that I just don't feel comfortable talking about in fear of triggering a strong response. I like visiting but would not consider moving there to raise a family. There is just a much greater chance of volitivity there. \n One time, while dinning out, I had a guy ask me, that because I didn't have a gun, what would I do if someone came to my home to rob me at gun point. I told him it never happens. But he insisted many times, but what if they did. I told him that it's not something I'd ever thought about and that I probably had a greater chance of dying on the plane ride home than being shot by an armed robber in my own home. But he kept insisting. I eventually told him I would help the robber take my stuff out of the house because that is what I have insurance for. I could not believe that this guy did not understand the concept of NO ONE (other then criminals shooting other criminals in the city) having a gun. \n I actually do have a long gun at my place in the country but that's to keep me safe from large animals that may come out of the bush. It is locked up in a gun cabinet by law. I would never think of using it against another person. I'd go to jail for sure if I did. Many of my friends hunt and have several guns but the restrictions on where and when you can use them and the strict storage requirements help ensure that they are not travelling around with a gun at hand. There are actually a few places in Canada where I've been that you do, or should, have to travel with a gun but these are remote areas of the country with large predatory animals. 99% of the population do not live in these areas.

If I was rich like many Canadians are that moved there. As a regular guy the health care and social benefits out way and problems with winter. Even if I didn,t work for some reason all those things remain. Plus you would start at the back of the line in Canada I continue with my personal support in friends and family. I wouldn't want my kids drafted either like during Vietnam days. Very war like country

The sad thing is all those people want is a good life, every Mexican I have ever met has been an extremely hard worker, and here in the U.S they work for a lot less then others, I know plenty of guys who laid off their whole crew, and rehired all Mexican guys cuz they work harder, faster, and they don't complain and act spoiled like the American guys....\nSad but true......

i dont wanna be that guy before i start but i think we already have a hard time finding jobs and housing as it is but all these new people we cant keep up there now making there way all over the east coast the resort in my area is ran by like 80% staff now no offence but thats hundreds of jobs that we need i have friends that work 12 hours a day at 3 different gas stations just to pay there bills only making about 100$ a day when they could have a job that pays 12$ a hour instead of 9$ see my point i thought it was very good

The migrants that I know, have better jobs than me. They don’t live in housing and are not on food stamps. They are not eligible for that assistance anyway because they were not born here and they make way more than allowed to be eligible. My neighbor is a migrant worker and he works in the pipeline industry. I have no idea how he got a job like that so quick. I work in retail as a service writer and maintenance guy.

You guys sound so stupid. It could take months EVEN YEARS to be able to be let in LEGALLY. AND on top of that it costs thousands for the legal process to work. How would I know? My parents. It took them 10+ years and probably more then 30k to win. and no they never had problems with any types of officials. Just in case assholes wanna assume that that’s the reason why it took so long.

And here i am, in the middle of eastern europe, studied hard, saved up every penny i could, even learned to code , found a good coding job, full remote these days, im in spain now, the beach is in my view.. i managed to do all of those things in the past decade, and still i was rejected by the us embrassy every single year, that makes a total of 11 times so far, not a word as to why, just rejected.. tbh i no longer want to move to the states.. i started begging you guys at 18, im 29 now.. i could’ve invested my talents and work in the us, while paying taxes there, instead i work for a us company in a very cheap part of the world while paying a small fraction of taxes to my home country.. keep letting those guys in and avoid us.. soon enough you wont have anyone defending you from the issue’s because the people that make good money and pay high taxes are leaving to make space for the homeless shelters and to avoid being stolen from by the mob
