So Canada is expensive, boring, cold, and (shock horror) not exclusively populated by Nigerian immigrants? You could have found out about the cost of living, weather and demographics online before you went. As for being boring, outside of work you have total control over how bored you are. I’ve lived in six countries, a mix of big cities and small towns and have never been bored because the old tropes are true; only boring people get bored and you make your own fun. Glad you’re back in the paradise that is Nigeria. Why would anyone want to leave there?

Hey. It all about choice. So let’s get it straight. The people who worked hard to build and develop Canada over the last 200 Years and paid their taxes, that’s ok. You however, feel you shouldn’t have to pay your way like Canadians. If you love your Country and the lifestyle, why did you leave it? No one twisted your arm to leave your fantastic Country and and move to this awful nasty boring and expensive Country with such uninteresting people unfriendly people. Gee, perhaps Canadians should move to your Country and not need to work, no medical expenses, no tax, and everything free. No need to work, Fantastic! What country are you people from? Hey, move to the USA by all means please and take your friends with you, so you will be one big happy group. Gee the Americans shall welcome you with open arms. As the saying goes, if you don’t appreciate what Canada has given you, that fine, just leave ASAP and be happy wherever you want to go! Actually, I have never heard such garbage from two thankless persons in my life. Again it’s a case of the minority spoiling it for the many Immigrants from all over the world who LOVE CANADA AND APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY CANADA HAS GIVEN THEM. They worked hard to build a life for themselves and their Family. Many of them became wealthy financially and in a personal sense and never expected the Government or anyone to give them a free hand. These people make Canada what it is in spite of people like you. So, leave now and make room for someone else who what’s the opportunity to live in Canada and shall appreciate it. Ho by the way, just remember to leave your Passport here and renounce your Canadian Citizenship, which you obviously do not respect or value. We Canadians shall wish you every success wherever you decide to live. I promise you that I shall never move to your Country and expect a free cup of coffee, never mind a free lunch. Canada business system prefers the big franchises businesses that have millions of dollars. If you have a small shop or restaurant get beaten by the big corporations that has franchises. the food costs are high and when selling u just cant sell for a better profit that can actually make you money. The Chinese and Indians knows how to sell little many items at a low cost just to be on a very tinny profitable way to keep on going. The Multi big paying makes money in Canada not the small business immigrants come and create. Those business don't built wealth because the big corporations are pushed by the Gov more in creating jobs and paying the big corporate taxes that in turn the taxes help support the social programs for those that cant work and also providing the basic needs to those that needs it through the taxes paid. In many African states many of the individual business that strife and create wealth because there isn't too much huge corporations that competes with this small business like the first world nations. In SA for example we have seen an explosion of many migrants going there creating small business and striving better than they will be in Canada. The taxes are high in Canada that's true u cant be rich sorry u will work until you lose your hair f not your hair turns white in a very short time due to too much stress and worries. Canada is good for social programs it takes care off those that don't' work if you work forget about getting rich but supporting those that don't work through the allocated taxes. Canada and the first world nations supports Big corporation and Franchising not really a fan of small business even when they are here they just don't create huge profits to think they will make it. In fact when the economy falls those shops easily shut down entirely and when they do reopen they barely make profits. I have seen Nigerian, Ghanaian small shops with Ethiopian and Jamaican business.

After watching this video, i still want to make my move to canada in the next 1 to 2 years. Because canada is a big upgrade from usa. Im from texas and i hate the hot weather that lasts 11 months of basically summer. and always dreamed about cold cloudy weather instead. Im 21 and im planning to get my education there so it's not really a big problem for me compared to other people who already studied in their home country. Basically life quality is better and i dont have to worry about the sad things that happen here. I love canada and i want to be a proud Canadian.

I can agree with these comments if your not American, growing up we had all that interaction with family, friends and neighbors. Life n times have changed in America due to gun violence, especially in large cities. Socializing is different in every state in America and in every country. I can understand how if your not accustomed to our ways of life even today, that you would prefer your ways of living back in your hometown and your Country. If you live in a big City in America and moved there from a smaller town in America, you will be feeling some loneliness, that's normal to us in America. If your American then you adjust to making n meeting new people, that hasn't been so easy with the pandemic for anyone. To compare our homes in one community from another or even from another country, is just criticism. We don't have a specific way of living, as far as our homes are constructed. This is how as American's we have always lived, small homes, large homes, big cities, small towns. Since the pandemic we do find ourselves spending more time inside due to no fault of our own. We do have different ways of living but so do other countries which we do enjoy when we visit. If you want to learn more about America and our lifestyles and history, you should do that. Every Country has it's government rules n law's and we try to abide by them, that's what makes our Country n Our Nation Great, that's also why many people come here to visit or work and study. Loneliness can be anywhere, depending on the person you are and reaching out to make new friends or just acquaintances is important. Especially, if your away from friends n family from home or a different Country. ✌️

I hate to say it but it's true... I live in windsor ontario Canada, when we were kids it was like that, im in my 40s in the 80s and 90s we played outside whatever we wanted. it all started with internet becoming big with social media, and I'm guilty of the video games, them as well as soon as we got Nintendo as kids my parents would make us stop and go outside, but as we got older u started seeing it less and less until where it's at now no kids playing outside very rarely I do see it in the summer but it's very true it's very sad

Quietly homeownership will disappear over the next 25-50 yrs. Big business will own most homes in big city. The rich will make sure they have control more and more, farmers will lease/rent the land and homes will be rented. Only big business will be able to pay the maintenance and taxes on buildings and land soon and also right it off. Just wait until the next big recession when many lose pensions, jobs, investments, and bitcoin crashes. Not only will it be dual income families instead of single income nowadays…it will be 2 families in homes, quadruple income and working until they are 65 or even 70….trudeau smiles and pretends he will fix everything while Canadians suffer more and more. If you have a chance to sell and then buy in a safer community, do it now because if you have not noticed a lot more homeless and vanlifers yet, or occupied camper trailers in friends and families driveways then you will notice soon, try and buy where crime is less of an issue while homes are easy to buy and sell.

I live in London UK for the past 15 years and had the opportunity to move to Canada. I visited Toronto once and experienced enough to make the decision not to move. Climate was the top and lack of public transport compared to London was another big concern. Lack of fashion and laidback lifestyle was a concern too. One can fly to any European country easily, cheaper and quickly from uk but it’s not that’s not the same flying from Canada.

Sir I have shifted to UK ..around 5 months ago...I spent around 12 years in Saudi arabia before.\nThe main difference between our country and this country is the PEOPLE.\nIts not the prices..the money etc that makes you feel better. I was earning good in saudia as well but here...its the people..that make you feel better.\nWe booked a hotel here for quarantine and the Pakistani agent who paid for us by a credit card used a fake card number or what. We received a letter from the govt about 2285 pounds due to be paid. Of course thats alot of money for new comers...and as you said there was no payment plan or anything discussed in the letter.I called them back and the first thing they asked me was Are you alright right now? Do you need anything from us? And that was...an experience I never had before in my life. Then they discussed the way outs for the dues.\nSame goes for the jobs..the positions..the hiring...not the SAUDI/AJNABI shit going on at all ! Or the bribes we have to pay in Pakistan to get a basic job !\nThe difference in HUMANITY is big sir...among our countries and these. This is just un doable now. Because the people of Pakistan...alot of them..many in my own family...are still fighting over people like Imran Khan. The unemployed rate is high in nfld because the system is rigged. You're better off on welfare than you are making minimum wage. A able bodied person getting taken care of ,where's the motivation. It takes me 3 months to get a doctor appointment in the US here in Seattle and I was just told several months to see my eye doctor. Depending on medical plan the insurance means you do not go to the specialist without a referral. So Canadians may not have as much to complain about. My parents were immigrants to Canada because it was easier (my father was in Danish Merchant Marine and was in China Sea when his appointment would come up in New York). They did not have it easy because they did not speak the language and worked hard to learn. Working as a housekeeper was the norm for females and my mother's education meant nothing when she expected to work in a bank. Danes stuck together and helped each other to get jobs, with carpentry (most had apprenticeships like brick laying), to socialize, etc. and this is normal for immigrants. Working multiple jobs was normal and having a great home was their American dream instead of a government apartment. It is true for all immigrants that their kids will do better than the parents. The kids will have no accent if they learn English by age 12. There are age cutoffs on learning a language in child development. During the hiring process the jobs are given to people the interviewer perceives as being like themselves. This is proven by psychologists (I am one). This puts immigrants at a disadvantage unless they have a rare skill without competition. Dad got his house and Mom took my sister and went back to Denmark because of health issues and the US has garbage medical care and social services for the elderly (poor sister didn't speak Danish because it wasn't allowed in case it impacted our English skill). As a daughter of immigrants I worked 20 hours days and weekends almost all my life. I put myself through school and have been successful despite being female and making much less than men. Immigrants need to realize that it will be their kids who make the big bucks and succeed while the parents who immigrated will struggle. As a cultural mix (US, Canadian and Danish citizen because of wacky sexist rules) I have had a lot of confusion over the years trying to fit in and figure out what my values are. I have had to ask my US husband is that behavior normal? Of course different states in the US or going 200 miles north to Canada means a different language to speak (Canadian or Spanish in the South) and different values, ways of dress, etc. so being an immigrant can mean just traveling 200 miles north or to an insane state like Texas or New York. Culture shock is everywhere but most of us move for the money. I am thinking of going back to Canada but my home was Vancouver and that now looks like a hell hole. My husband had over a million dollars in medical care and I really do not wish to lose all my assets to medical costs in the US. So now I am trying to choose between death by earthquake in BC somewhere or death by tornado or perhaps fire storm in Calgary due to climate change.

I'm planning to make a big chenge in our lifes .to go back to my country. No way to buy a house here. My friend bought a house 4 Hr. Away from the city ..now wants to came back to toronto no jobs in those places. In the end we are in the same situation.

As an older Canadian who was educated in Canada with a B.Ed. - then worked away from Canada for thirty of my forty years. There is no way to say that any country is the best one to live in; every country has strengths and weaknesses- that especially relate to your specific needs and wants. Coming back to the country of my citizenship was also extremely hard for me after working away for so many years. The way to do well anywhere in Canada, is to build up credibility/seniority at one job and stick with it. Whether you are university or self-educated- which is considered just as valuable in today's job market- you are going to face an uphill battle unless you are fairly established. Canada has a high level of unemployment and some sectors, have an overabundance of trained workers. When my Middle East friends tell me they would like to live and work in Canada, I give them the advice I would give anyone. First, think about your family or friends that you want to have around you in your daily life- that is number one. Nothing is more depressing than being alone. Weather is a big factor, but it can be tolerated if you are with your core family or friends. One hundred years ago when my ancestors fled war and revolution, they had no choice but to do their best to make a life in a very difficult climate (literally)- culturally and weather-wise. There are a number of refugees today that are in similar circumstances. They do their best to get past the difficulties for the sake of their children's futures. If you are not literally refugees, think hard about you choice to leave your core culture and people.

Its depressing and alienating when your job sector gets flooded by more workers when it already underpays and has hard competition for decent jobs.\n\nPeople are great no matter where they come from, but the policies makes coming here quite the scam. Its better than a lot of places, but the average canadian is getting poorer and poorer and the ceiling of success is very low too.

thanks for the honest observations. I appreciate it. I have noticed many comments that employment may not be the best in Canada. However, employment is not the only way to make money. Anyone can be self-employed/small-business owner, big business owner or an investor, according to Robert Kiyosaki. I guess, Canada may not be the best country for employment opportunity, but can be the best for retirement after you have gained enough passive income from investments in different businesses.

Pretty good Adam I'd just mention a few of those things are...I don't want to say inaccurate but way more diverse. For instance French. Yes Quebec is the only French province BUT New Brunswick is the only Bilingual province and basically half and half. This is good for things like federal of provincial services because by law they must provide service in both languages but not so basically everywhere else. The problem with this is you can have an almost completely English town almost nobody speaks French and drive 15 minutes and be in a town where nobody speaks English. Research on this might be hard because a town with a French name may not have any French people in and vise versa. Also this problem is multiplied in the fact that if you Do want a French area we don't speak standard French or Quebecois but instead Le Chiac which is a difficult and confusing mix of old French and english (almost exactly like the Cajun dialect). Second part of this is that Montreal is easy to live in if you don't speak French and is so multicultural you are just apt to hear Swahili as French in public. Last part is be very careful where you move on the prairies as they have may isolated towns some that speak French also. Next is tipping I've never had to tip anyone for a haircut outside of the military and all other forms of tipping here on the east coast are purely optional and wait staff don't get upset if you don't leave a tip unless you were a jerk or left them extra work like making a big mess (I worked as cook for a while after I got out of the army and I rarely ever head staff complain) HOWEVER....tip a waitress well and she might accidentally give you 2 pieces of pie lol and tip a taxi driver well and he will not only get you the cheapest fare he will find ANYTHING you may need no questions asked. Lastly on the nice thing....we are nice for sure especially compared to our southern neighbours BUT there is a lot of passive aggressive nice that happens and this also varies greatly. For instance as a city boy of course you answered the way you did but a guy who have lived all over this country in big and small, French and English places who now has retired to a rural town I can say I find the cities quite snobby and the French and the English can be quite snobby to each other and where I live now if you asked a random stranger for 5$ chances are you would get it also driving down the road people you don't know will just wave at you as if you were the closest friends. Canada is certainly a weird place so many extremes and my advice to anyone wanting to move here is do your research and then visit and travel a bit if possible because even us Canadians can be surprised by thing or two across this gigantic country

Having been all around this great big beautiful country, while I love Quebec because it is like a cheap and easily convenient flight to Western Europe, I'd say that the Maritimes are the hidden gem and heart of Canada.\n\nAnd after having seen all of Canada, I always felt that if I was Prime Minister, I would make it a law that every citizen would have a free VIA train ticket, good for the rest of their life, to see the entire country. At least once.

Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

Reality of Canada - Very bad weather - freezing with gusty winds with \nsnow or ice ,get ready to shovel alot of snow in winter, winter type \nweather is for 8 months, very high price of house plus other high \nexpenses which are unaffordable like on an average house price is \nmillion dollars plus other expenses makes you 12,000$ per month which \nyou will not get easily as salary, high rents also almost 1700$ for one \nbhk ,whereas on an average you can make 2000 $ /month , high car \ninsurance plus high phone plus interntet plus grocery , no taste of \nindian vegetable & indian food ,its a big problem if you are a \nvegetarian, no specific job industry & 97% warehouse jobs which pay \nlittle also 99% sardars drive truck but truck is a very hard job esp in\n winter ,very hard to get good paying jobs & other jobs fon't pay \nthat much only illiterate people can do , no social life ,even no \npersonal life as women become very weird after coming to canada & \nlots of divorces happens in indian people after coming to canada, people\n of canada are very dead & shows no emotions like indians are . when\n kids grow up they have no feelings fo rtheir parents in canada as they \ndon't know what is indian culture , super worst medical system with 20 \nhours waiting in emergency plus doctors will never give you any medicine\n due to legal fear also you will never get timely treatment or even a \nmedicine like india, also specialist doctor appointments will take 6 \nmonths in canada while you can see specialist doctor daily if you want \nin india , dental & eye is private but very costly only if you have \nwork insurance, no servants or maids like india so you have to all jobs \nlike cleaning house, cooking, laundry ,dishwashing by yourself even if \nyou are coming from 8 hour job which is very tiring , canada is only \nheaven for punjabis for others they have to be very careful

There's a need for a reset button, it's okay that you make money and that some go to your kids but there should be a limit of how much wealth one group of people should be able to get. Government aren't the solution because people in power there are put in place by the same group that need to be corrected ...

Canada has always seemed to me to be a lot of the same of what's here in America. And from the pictures I've seeing it looks a lot like any town in the US. Make their big cities look similar to the big cities we have here in America.

I really want them to make that big decision and go back to their home countries and serve their homes just so you all would UNDERSTAND how important these people are to us and why our governments are actually accepting them and even attracting them to come and live, work here but they will never admire these great humans just becouse they are Muslims (history shows that we were the haters and terrorists against them, they were always trying to protect themselves and their land from us) but again we never really learn from history.........

I just find the film industry so frustrating. As a woman I just feel that it's a white male dominated industry. The Oscars just reinforced my consistent frustration. Films are predominantly aimed at white men, big block busters that make maximum profit, celebrating the male archetype. Men review films, men analyse the profit made and then decide more films for men need to be made. I feel so under-represented in films and I can see how much worse this is cross culturally. I was talking to a student of mine who has gone on to do film making at uni and raised this with him after some discussions on our favourite films. He hadn't really thought about the need of different audiences to see films that reflect their own backgrounds, ideologies etc. Hopefully the new generation of film makers will bring with them a more authentic and fresh approach to film making.

I think subtle racism is actually a very practical type of stereotyping and it didn't just got created out of air, there is a big chunk of that specific race (be it any race according to the stereotype) who actually prove the stereotype to be right. I am from india, living in Canada and if some house owner would prefer a white guy over me to rent their house, I would not blame him since a lot of people don't like the smell of spices that we cook all the time.\n\nAs far as stereotyping is sublet and not rude or hurting, I don't think it's actually so much of racism rather then preference.\n\nI just want to make it clear though that I do support racism, whatever is happening in US and a lot of other countries which is violent is a very horrible thing. Specially black people being racially profiled everywhere including malls and by the police themselves.

They tried to make some Romanians not drink in front of a Muslim barbershop. That was a big mistake . Drinking is a sacred ritual in eastern europe. It is NOT just race. Depending on the bag or backpack you carry, you get followed, which I hate. And I'm not black. My mother also gets followed everywhere in every Macy's store. It drives me crazy. It's really annoying, because I think it's because my mom has big purses and I usually have my art backpack. \n\nWhen I'm in a different town, I get followed in Walmart all the time. If I forget my shopping bags, I will empty my backpack so I can use that to put all my items in at the end of the purchase.\n\n In Best Buy, I'm lucky to get anyone to help me at all!!! I have to hunt someone down, and most of the time, they don't know anything anyway. Target: I have a hard time finding anyone to help me as well. I haven't really done a social experiment, but sometimes I just have my shopping bags and fill them as I shop and I won't carry a purse.\n\nLocally, I don't get followed because my family and me are known in that town. We know a lot of people and my face is everywhere. I never get followed. But out of town Walmart, I get followed in certain stores. It irritates me immensely, especially since I buy a lot of make up and the make up department is cramped they way they block the end of the aisles. It makes it really hard to turn your cart around when other people are in the same aisle. Then they close the make up aisle even though they have tons of cameras all over!! \n\nOverall, I don't know WHERE these backhanded compliments are coming from. I normally hear stuff about my weight. Nothing about race ever. Nor do I ever hear others talking about race. Weight seems to be the hot topic always.\n\nI also find it weird that the one guy feels like he needs to apologize!

I'm white. My son is a big man. He is often followed by store personal because they think he will shoplift. It makes him so angry.

Freedom is also deciding who you will and will not serve. Everybody has preferences and proving somebody's preference is discrimination is virtually impossible and could land you a hefty legal bill... like it or not, the alternative is that big gov is going to make laws qhich will impact those who they are looking to protect very much harder then those who do the so called discriminating...
