I grew up in Edmonton and left Canada 30 years ago because the Edmonton Police simply would not leave me alone. I couldn't even drive my car around the block without winding up in a courtroom. The police harassed my parents for years after I left hoping to find me. (i.e. STAASI). Now I live in subtropical Australia and still drive the same Oldsmobile. I never have legal problems here and at one stage owned three houses. In Canada I am labelled as a racist but here I have a Chinese wife and my daughter is fluent in Mandarin. The reason that taxes are so high in Canada is that Multiculturalism costs money. Every time some monument or cultural center is built, someone has to pay for it. My greatest disdain of Canadian society is the political correctness. I remember before 1984 when one could tell a joke without fear of incrimination.

a lot can be said about your narrative. you failed to mention the age of immigration. That alone is THE single most important factor on the out come of the exercise . anyone over 40 should not immigrate. second the education and skill set you bring will be a major factor in the out come. Third there is systemic racism after a certain level which one can feel in very job. i strongly believe one should come to Canada, get top quality education and skill, work with top quality people/organizations which should not be more than 5-6 years, then go back home. the long term price of immigration is huge. This country needs hands to work and pay taxes so that their show should go on. Not sure if someone has mentioned this, but another difference is you have to pay for university applications here in Canada! First 3 I believe are $100 and another $25-50 if you want to apply to more but I don’t exactly remember

Yes Canada is a peaceful nation. You did not mention tent cities in Victoria and Vancouver, B.C. In Canada we only speak English. Quebec should be their own country. I was in the military in Quebec for one week and dropped out. I got sick in the winter and I did not like how they treated people. Remember when your there you have to learn both languages. This is because of the marching drills and it is hard if you don't know French. If I was American I be happy and they only speak English. America rules!

Racism was far more prevalent in Canada decades ago. I remember hearing stories from my aunts and uncles about the types of things that would happen when they first arrived in the country. People would heckle and threaten visible minorities. \n\nBut I can say I have personally never experienced systemic racism in Canada. So staff just assumed he was drunk. \nIf more people of all ethnic backgrounds behaved more like whites would that suspicion disappear? I remember when my family immigrated here over 15+ years ago and my brother was only 1 years old. 2 weeks after coming here he slipped on the floor and cut open his forehead on the hinges of our door and he was bleeding everywhere (he later had to get 6 stitches to fix it), my father was out working and we didn't know how to contact the police or hospital because we didn't have a home phone yet. We used our neighbors and the ambulance came and I strictly remember that because we didn't have our health cards yet they wouldn't start work even though my father said he will pay when he gets there. I remember my mother and I feeling helpless while my 1 year old brother was bleeding out (the hospital staff tried to stop the bleeding with cotton ball and bandage) and I distinctly remember that they did not start helping my brother even WHILE my father was paying but only started work after the bill was completed. Even though my family felt helpless at that time and we felt it was unfair, we never blamed Canada because it was their policy and they have every right to follow protocols. So it makes me angry to see people who walked into our country illegally getting far better treatment than my family ever got even though it might not be anything as life threatening as ours was. It makes me angry that our hard earned tax dollars are used to help people who have no motivation to help the country that gave them asylum during war.. It's actually the opposite as a lot of these families call their free housing "disgusting" and compare it to "living like a slave". I'm angry because little girls at my brothers own school are getting shoved and assaulted by refugee boys as young as 6-7 and are let off with a simple "don't do that again" and a meeting with the parents. This is not the Canada my family came to love and call home so I can't imagine the hardships of Canadians who are living here for 3, 4, 5+ generations 😔😔
