I am a senior and live in Vancouver, BC and my son who has dual citizenship lives in Seattle, WA. His wife and him will move back to Canada when he retires. I visit Seattle and enjoy going there. The shopping is great fun especially with all the big store headquarters being there and we can't forget Trader Joe's. I don't drink alcohol anymore, but the cost, volume and availability is crazy. He also lived in New York and lived a train ride away to the suburbs (great system) and was a lovely area to raise a family. Visited NYC and loved it. I've lived in Montreal and just love big cities. In saying all that, I think were all basically the same, however I could never permamentally live in the US. I can no longer afford the outrageous travel health insurance to travel to the USA because of my age and health issues. I have a primary doctor and four specialists that I see on a regular basis, waiting for a hip replacement and none has cost me a cent. Oh yes, I get free dental care. I wouldn't move to the states, but would sure like to visit again. Politics is a whole other subject.

Most people that come to study in Canada from different countries they leave after graduation. You can even check the m number of people from different countries that leave and most do only people from\nIndia so leave . Canada is not all that great it’s good most of the time high taxes . . Born and raised in Canada. Grew up believing anyone could do well here if you apply yourself as an average person. Household income was higher then the USA and for the most part 'middle class life' was pretty attainable. Now I've had some bumps along the way that has nothing to do with this to set me back, but today I look at the 'make a life market' and the opportunities are none. You either own a home and are doing well, or your a renter going backwards every year because of inflation and the brain drain. Entrepreneurs have left the country. We as a country have not done much since the 1980's. We stagnated in The Boomers success and never made a future for their children. Then in the past few years, we have rampant immigration to add to the fire. Canada, for a lack of words is a Dumpster Fire. DON'T MOVE HERE!

Can you break down the west coast cause holy moly, i feel like i live in india not Canada!!! My apt building is filling up with immigrants, all the whites are moving out as the landlord is letting our building turn into a slum, whenever i call, he is in India, he has not fixed a damn thing and as white people move out, he does not clean the apt between people, he let's them move in with other people's garbage, he did that to me and when i complained he asked for the keys back, he is also doubling the rent of the new immigrants. I worked as a nurse in Florida when I first graduated. It was devastating to see how stressed people were about being hospitalized because they knew how their life finances were going to be wiped out. In Contrast Canadian patients only need to concentrate on being well again. \nWomens rights are being rapidly eroded in America. Childbirth is covered in Canada,abortions are legal and women get 1 year of paid maternity leave.\nOur children don’t have to participate in active shooter drills because of our tight gun laws. Our taxes are higher but the social networks are covered by these taxes. \nThe Canadian way of life is generally ,slower and ,I find, more accepting of immigrants, LGBTQ folks, and marginalized people.\nPersonally I moved back to Canada because I missed the change of seasons and the slower pace. I made the mistake of moving back to Canada from the States. I wish I could go back in time to reverse that decision.

I believe that lack of health care in the U.S. stops many Canadians from even considering moving and working in the U.S. It may take longer to get medical care and treatment in Canada, but everyone is entitled to it. About 30 yrs ago we all paid into it, at our jobs. Not anymore. I believe employers may still be paying into it, but I think now it is just paid for with our taxes. So even people that do not work or are retired, each and every person is allowed it - if you live here.\nThere is also some Dental Care provided for some Children. Very recently,free Dental care is provided for people over 65. It is very new, so I do not know a lot about it yet. Also some drugs too are free for those over 65 too.\n\nPersonally I do not even want to visit the U.S because it seems like a very dangerous place.

Similar story, grew up in Vancouver as a kid. Can't say that I got much from Canada other than a pile of student debt. With a top engineering degree from a Canadian university, no jobs, no interviews. If it set me up for a better future, I could give it some credit, but even with visas, I had *much* better luck with opportunities in the US and even in western Europe, which is similarly socialist to Canada. I have had to move from country to country thanks to the lack of decent opportunity in Canada. More liability than asset, in my experience, other than the passport. Glad I left when I did, only regret I didn't do it sooner. Good luck to wherever you go next. I hear eastern Europe is a cool place, if you bring your income with you ;-)

I was born and raised in Canada and last august I left to move to the Czech Republic. If you’ve ever been there you’ll know it’s not the cheapest country and I live in the most expensive city. I still am able to afford to live off my not so high salary of an English teacher. I wouldn’t be able to afford living away from my parents in Canada, I’m not saying it’s been easy or cheap, I have 6 roommates and my rent is over 50% of my monthly salary. I had to take out a loan from my parents to afford all the visa fees and hidden costs of moving to another country. However if I had stayed in Canada I would have been earning less because I couldn’t find a job in my field. I am filled with rage about the governments decisions to mess up the country like they have. And yes we have an immigration problem but they are not the problem, it’s the government. My mother was an immigrant to Canada, and yes she’s doing okay right now but things have changed a lot since she immigrated and how Canada is now.

Moved from Canada last August (2024). This country used to be on par with Switzerland in terms of quality of life, work-life balance, how nice everyone was, you name it. After 2020 I couldn't recognize this country anymore. Moved back to Israel, a country that was overrun with corruption, war and looming financial crisis. Now I'm planning my move to Cyprus. I heard the people are extremely nice, there's practically 0 crime and the Island is amazing overall.

there's zero benefits in moving to Canada. it is a country that is set to debt trap you for the rest of your life once you settled. they invent new tax laws every year to cheat you from your hard work earnings, no one can build a life here in Canada, this is also precisely why there is no known technology or industry developed in Canada. So called top brand in Canada, TD, was just sued and under multiple legal litigations such as AML (anti money laundering) and NSF class action lawsuit. TD by itself is only $132 billion CAD market cap vs a comparable JP Morgan Bank (US) $675 billion USD = $979 billion CAD, more than 7x the size of TD. wonder why there are very few US bank operating in Canada? cause they know better! There are no investor who are foolish enough to invest in Canada, all the tax laws are created to soak wealth from those who didn't know better. Even Canadians are leaving Canada. don't even mention the non-existing military, so really, where did the country spent all the tax dollars?

I live in Canada and, as an immigrant, I study alongside many Indians. One of the biggest challenges I’ve observed is the difficulty some people have in adapting to Canadian culture. Indians, like many other groups, have a very strong and vibrant cultural identity, which is absolutely valid and important. However, when you choose to live in a country that is not your own, there is a certain responsibility to adapt to the new culture. After all, you made the decision to move to a different country, and part of that decision involves immersing yourself in the local culture.

It's not true to say education is free in Canada. Unlike the UK, in Canada every year we have to pay a contribution to school fees. Noon supervision fee, exam fees, fees for sports clubs, materials fee. It mounts up if you have a few kids. This came as a surprise to me when moving to Canada. In UK employees get much more paid vacation time from employers. I'd say life can be better in the UK in terms of work life balance but I think Healthcare is better in Canada although it can be expensive if you have no insurance for things such as dental care.

Just came back from Ecuador cheap living but dangerous, i got shot at it sucked, oh well. I cant see my self moving from Canada most of my family is here, my son is 12 years old but i worry for him as he gets older who meets.

Recently we made such decision to move to Canada after 13 years my muallaf Canadian husband was not arround but he got very shock once he is back there and at day 2 being there we aborted our plan and being so grateful how wonderful our life was indonesia (our freedom as muslim no comparison here, mosques at every kilometer, the cultures deep binding according to our religion, have so many options for islamic educations schools and living cost very cheap here no comparison!)and will continue to live there entire our life inshaAllah.

Idk i think you need to realize that we also have our bias in addition to you having yours. Meaning, to most of us , excepting the most left leaning socially progressive pockets and contexts , which even then wouldn’t be viewed that way to us just acceptable lol ?\n\nOur baseline/political middle in Canada is A LOT more left leaning than the baseline normal/political middle in the states. So while people tend to equate your democrats to our liberals or our NDP , and equate your republicans to our conservatives. It’s just not accurate. If you throw our span of parties and American span of parties on the SAME spectrum /polarity line. You might be surprised to realize how shifted left our systems range politically is from the American one. \n\nThis hugely impacts the average normal expectation , what we clutch our pearls at hearing coming out of the mouths of the general public , and our range of what we expect to not hear or see ranted about unless they’re to our view , extremely right leaning politically /social values. \n\nFor us this means that actually genuinely , a lot of America does get experiences by us as bat shit crazy racist homophobic immigrant intolerant culturally and religiously ignorant , and somewhat backwards in larger or smaller amounts ? I know that’s not fun to hear but. Being the most diverse country based so much on immigration means. My parents were both born in the states and my older brother was born there but they moved up here when he was a baby. So nearly all my extended family lives down there and I’m a duelly. And my experiences discussing things with my cousins or visiting absolutely could be described as culture shock at times. The insane things that came out of my own cousins mouths when they hear our friends or partners of various cultures , our not understanding how big a deal and incredibly insulting apparently it is to have assumed someone American was lgbt lol the list goes on. Like I don’t think our most intolerant Pockets can hold a flame to even ur closet to middle a bit intolerant places and contexts in America. I'm doing just fine in Canada, where I've lived my whole life except for 7 years in Japan. Any difficulties people having comes down to the individual, not a systematic national problem. My rent in Vancouver is under $1000, because I haven't moved in 11 years. I have no debt, no car, no expensive lifestyle, no drug habit. I made good choices. Others have not.\n\nCanada is still a land of opportunity if you get a job, get your vaccines, live within your means and don't expect a 1950s style economy, anyone can do fine. Healthcare access needs improvement, but we had a pandemic. The whole world did. \n\nIf you feel like you can't make it in Canada, you have no one to blame but yourself. Everything is relative. This is wrong allegation of political issues. There is no such issues.Punjab and Gujrat infact one of the richest province in India. Only people who are less educated and greedy leaving for these countries. Because of their neighbour or relatives moved to US n Canada in 70' 80s and they want to move by hook or crook. Friends and my family will all move to Canada. We came from South Sudan and we are now in the US which promised a lot but gave only very little. Canada has much more to offer us than the US will ever give us.
