This list is absolute BULLSHIT! What's the point of pitting Canadians against each each other? The producers didn't even have enough integrity to admit it's only THEIR opinions!!

This is basically a commercial for anyone who lives in Quebec who isn’t French to learn French.\nI Will (but the Gouvernement de Québec Won’t) leave that up to you.\nThe producers left out the following:\n- Current and Coming Major Increases in Language Strife (FRENCH Vs English) lead by the Provincial Gouvernement. -Bill 96\n- Current unwelcoming or tolerance of religiously oriented communities -Bill 21\n- Oddly the French Public School system has a terribly high drop out rate for boys compared to the English System (which is under attack from Bills - 101 & 96).\n- The Healthcare System is in Shambles as increasingly demonstrated by its inability to deal with Covid. It is so bad (in terms of available resources) that the Gouvernement has been forced to have some of the most repressive and restrictive measures (including curfews) in the entire world in order to keep its medical system and hospitals from collapse.\n\nI don’t know what to do with the ranking but making Quebec # 1 very much diminishes the validity of the rest of this video and that’s ashame.

Not to mention Saskatchewan provides a large percentage of the crops in Canada, along with producing potash, and a fair amount of oil, if I’m correct. Also the University of Saskatchewan is surprisingly good, and lots of people move to Saskatchewan to go to the university there.

I lived everywhere in Canada except the Territories, Manitoba, and N.B., and I always come back to Quebec. It's NOT that it's better in everything. It's just that it's better in everything that counts for ME!!!\n- It's the CHEAPEST place to rent or own but has great wages and a high minimum. \n- Most of our cities are in the St-Lawrence valley. That means we have a LOT of local produce in-season. \n- We have a diversified economy. Less manufacturing and heavy stuff than Ontario, but LOTS of high-tech and knowledge-based jobs. With a HUGE service industry, bloated by the constant influx of tourists.\n- It's got the BEST quality of social life in the country. It's an all-year party and club season. \n- It's got FOUR real and distinct seasons.\n- It's almost as beautiful outside as BC. Until autumn and the colors, then it's better for a few weeks.\n- It's got the BEST social net in the country. \n- It's got the most beautiful women too. No question whatsoever about that one.\nAnd it's the SAFEST... That and being cheap to live in are the two main points. I'm bilingual, so I don't care about the French-only oddities, they are few and far between. It's 2021, not 1980. The Internet and Cable tv from the US changed EVERYTHING. ALL of the kids and young adults will answer you in English if you aren't acting like a jerk. So will almost anyone under 60.

Hey Jason, thanks so much for your videos. They've really provided me with a lot of information and put my mind at ease about a lot of the processes. I do have one query though - I have had a company of my own for the past 10 years (a film production company) in which I have been a managing director and also worked as a writer, director, producer etc. Since this isn't a traditional job with a regular salary, would it be ineligible as work experience under CRS? Would it be considered as being self-employed?

Canadians have a lot of prejudice that isn't limited to racism. Productions like CBC are disingenuous with their reporting to push a narrative. The 'test' alone (link above) uses semantics to manipulate responses, thusly results. Also, you can't peg a corporation for the perceived behaviour when following around white minimum wage workers. Attack corporations for the slave labour used to produce the goods you take for granted every day, how about that? Nope, you work for the government who is in bed with corporations. Pennies are estimated to cost the US in the billions of dollars in terms of time wasted messing around with the. They also cost more to produce than they are worth, resulting in tens of millions wasted every year. Abolishing the penny is actually a really good idea.

Lets all face the reality. Racial profiling works especially when you're talking about security and safety. The police do it, the FBI, CIA, military, even those store security department. Though they wont openly admit it but they do it. It's a serious part of their operations. They do it because it works. They do better job on protecting the population because of racial profiling. There are all kinds of instruments being used to analyze our personal data anytime a person asks for help of any kind from the gand so gone are the days when you could count on offering blind trust to proft essionals assuming they will be accountable to those they serve for their best interests when interpreting the details of your case with you and with others since all they have to do when questioned is to produce a print out of automated results as 'scientific' proof to back up their impressions and conclusions about your situation and health. Who has the time to pour over every detailed highly technical looking instrument result? of their legal decisions recomended to a judge in business law and other kinds of court rooms and sometimes those automated results are being used to push medical diagnosic labels and then use them in a court of law whenever a malpractice suit is being waged.

Psychology student here. In the interest of accurate information, I would like to point out some flaws I find with some of the studies in this documentary and question the conclusions reached. I understand that CBC Marketplace are not personality psychologists and therefore cannot be expected to produce the same quality of work as a scientist. However, I think it is worthwhile to think critically about the information in the media that we consume. I am also open to anyone who wants to engage in debating the contents of this documentary.\n\n\nThe following are some notes I took while watching the documentary outlining the individual hypotheses of the studies I think are flawed and descriptions of their respective accompanying errors. \n\n\nThere are three possible research questions, and thereby dependent variables, being answered by the apartment hunting studies.\n1. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \n \n2. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man between Toronto, Montreal, Regina, and Victoria, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could total apartments visited be a confounding variable? (4 in Toronto, 3 in Montreal, Regina, and Victoria) \nb. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \nc. They only showed the black man apartment hunting in some of the trials. I am considering him out of the study for consistency purposes. The first-nations man is the only one who got unfair treatment in the footage of apartment hunting. \n \n3. Possible hypothesis: If male landlords/agents are more discriminatory than female landlords/agents, then the white man and the first-nations man will get different treatment at different Canadian apartments in equally diverse cities. \na. Don’t know all the information about the genders of the landlords/agents, not all the footage is shown, but the ones where they get ripped off are male. The others shown are female. The remaining interactions are not shown.\n\n\nThere are also some factors that may have influenced the racial bias survey and, in my estimation, rendered it scientifically unreliable.\n\n\n1. The bias survey and accompanying tests at the CBC attributed the differences between the studies to unconscious racism. What if it was just due to familiarity with certain racial groups over others? \na. The black participants had no bias between European-American and African Americans, supposedly indicating no racism, while the white and first-nations participants did, supposedly indicating racism. Is it possible that another interpretation of this result is that bias is a function of familiarity: that we are comfortable with the majority demographic in the geographical location we live in, as well as our own kind. Therefore, the black guys are less biased against black people due to being both black and living in a white majority demographic? \nb. The participants took the survey knowing the objectives of the researchers was to study racial discrimination. They might have influenced the answers they gave \nc. Whether the participants agreed with identity politics or not was a confounding factor that was not controlled . You can only be racially unbiased biased if you think that racial identity is a means of accurately viewing the world. People who do not believe in the existence of identity politics may answer the questions quite differently, which could be a different reason for the results.\nd. I took the study myself. The words that participants were required to match were a mix of adjectives and nouns. It is known within psychology that nouns have higher levels of imagery. This was not properly controlled and therefore is another confounding variable. \n \nAll the other studies looked fine to me. I welcome any discussion on my observations.

This is very unscientific compared to other Marketplace investigations. i have had worse things done to me by hispanic security guard at Safeway. I am white. i refused to provide my receipt to guard who singled me out after this happened to me multiple times, see below. they detained me for 15 minutes. I called the Berkeley police. Instead of arresting them for false imprisonment Police told me I was banned from store and would be arrested if I return. I have video. Wonder if that would go viral? No, I’m white. Also accused of stealing by Asian american deli workers at Safewat in SF. I have video of that. In that case black security guard backed me up in my claim that I brought in the rye bread from outside that I asked my sandwich be made with. At another Safeway in SF the Eastern European deli manager got the black security guard to single me out to produce my receipt. I showed it to him. A few days later I saw a black man walk in that Safeway and go to the expensive cold drinks area, open a bottle and start drinking it. I alerted the store workers but they refused to ask him fir his receipt because they had not personally seen him steal it. I had nit stole anything but that did not prevent them from asking this white dude or accusing me falsely in 3 different Safeway stores.

To have, apparently, no English whatsoever after so many years does not indicate a desire to integrate. The (once) United Kingdom's seriously overburdened NHS spends 23 million a year on translators in 128 languages and many 'migrants' see this as an entitlement; indeed, it is a disincentive for some to even bother trying to learn English. I can't believe what's being said in these comments. So the fact that he didn't speak English in the interview is the only thing that sunk in? Ok. Many of the immigrants that come here , come for the opportunities: Work, food, shelter, etc. Learning English should be mandatory in all immigrants applying for citizenship but we can't disregard someone because they choose NOT to speak English. For all we know, this guy (I'm sure) understands and probably can speak some English but for the sake of the interview the producers mostly likely asked him and he chose to speak in Spanish.
