I live in New York, America and I have to say this is terrifying. It's the beginning of a very bad and difficult road for us. I still cannot believe my fellow American people voted this criminal into office again. These are some horrible decisions being made for American people by a few rich idiots.

American here. It's obvious Trump is a traitor and a Russian agent who is following orders from Putin to dismantle the US government, and destabilize/destroy all Western alliances. It shouldn't be a surprise: Trump has had dealings with Russian oligarchs for the past 40 years. Trump is a clear and present danger to the US, the West, and the world. He will probably be the cause of World War 3 since he has put the US on the side of Russia - which destabilizes the entire world order.

Trump forgets, or never knew where all the American planes landed during 9-11. The Canadian people and specifically Newfoundlanders, fed and took care of people from all over the world. He would charge the people on the planes if they landed in he US! And ask for the mineral rights in their countries!

Forget Canada as the 51st state.\n\nAs a Northeastern American, I think most of us would prefer to become a province of Canada at this point.

As an American, I'm happy he spoke separately to the American people, and to Donald Trump. Many of us don't support Trump and don't feel that he represents us or our best interests.

As a candian i feel that trump is Ta bigot, a tyrant and clearly significantly cognitively impaired. I feel for the American and Canadian people that this tyrannical dictator has and will impact. Thank you, Canada! As an American, I am appalled at the hellmouth this administration that I did not vote for has dragged my country into. Nothing I see suggests to me that the people we've entrusted with enforcing our laws and our constitution will come through for us against this coup that has broken with democracy and simple decency. Much of what Canada imports from the US can be replaced with non- American products, or even avoided completely.\nMuch of what the US imports from Canada is is big ticket stuff that can’t be replaced quickly in just a few days, weeks or even months. Oil, steel, potash, lumber, vehicles… it’s gonna hit the US really hard, but nowhere near as difficult for Canada. Is he trying to get a civil war??

CNN, why are you not calling out Trump's lies? In 2024, less than two tenths of one percent of fentanyl entering the US in 2024 crossed the US-Canadian border. This was NEVER about fentanyl. This is about Trump financing his billionaire tax cuts buy imposing huge sales taxes on American consumers. It's a stealth tax increase tha.t is targeted at low and middle income Americans. I’m a U.S. American and I’m so horrified, ashamed, and sad about what trump’s administration is doing. I find no fault in you doing what is right and necessary for your country. I just wish we a government that wanted what is best for us.

This is a move Trump himself didn't even want to take. He was forced to do so by the American energy sector. Trump wants america to become completely free of any foreign dependence. The only thing Canada has that the United States depends on is their energy for the Northern US. Trump has slashed regulations and opened land for American companies to start drilling and providing their own energy to the US. They decided against it for record profits. This will for e them to start drilling in the US by making it cheaper than getting energy from Canada. This has nothing to do with Russia. If it did, the US could get all the cheap oil and natural gas as he wants. Putin would give it to the US for free. Trump could careless about Russia or Putin. He wants american energy companys to start doing their jobs and provide energy to the american people at a reasonable cost. But all they are worried about is their record profits.

I'm a proud Canadian, and I'm very proud of our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. We did not want this trade war, but we fully support it. We have been attacked and blindsided by our best ally and friend. Things will never be the same between us! Our former relationship is over.
