If so few people want to live in Canada how come there are millions of people wanting to migrate here? We have had to cap immigration recently. What a BS headline

Do not give these migrants money, housing or food. They created their own mess in their lives and shouldn't expect others to solve their problems for them. Do not get sucked in to their sob stories. No one wants them.

How can you live somewhere that you can't understand the language.

The fact that we have so many people in the US undocumented and living here for decades tells us that our legal process is not sufficient for allowing people to come legally. Having that many people tells us we need to treat this as a policy problem, not an individual-making-bad-choices problem. And spending billions of dollars on border patrol tactics that still allow for so many illegap immigrants tell us that our resources are grossly misspent. Plus we treat legal asylum seekers as if they were illegal (depriving people of food, keeping them from crossing in the first place) so people will choose whatever method will get them here. People can be here legally for well over a decade before getting a green card and then even longer to get citizenship.

Guess you wont be having your health care and social security either and living on the streets \ntoo. How does that sound?

There’s legit legal ways to come work in America and I’m proud of everyone who works hard legally! We won’t lose all who are not in fact citizens but those who have come here to live off us illegally!

Ive lived in Winnipeg most my life. Vancouver for a time. It was too tough in vancouver but winnipeg has been very chill. Also as a diabetic I'm greatful for healthcare I only pay for around 20% of my meds. We've talked about moving somewhere where rent is cheaper, meds are cheap and groceries are affordable. But I've never found such place...I stay because the people here are amazingly empathetic, yet very strong. Its sad to have a liberal government that have conservative policies for the rich. Itd be nice to vote NDP for something different.

I hope that the people on Social Security/Disability & Medicare are prepared for your benefits to be slashed or nonexistent, because MILLIONS of those illegal immigrants are what's allowing you to receive your benefits. Illegals pay in around $96 Billion Dollars into Social Security and Medicare yearly... even though they cannot receive any of those benefits. I know if my benefits change, I'm going to be PISSED!!! It's hard enough to live as it is. We are in for some really dark times people!!!

What most MAGA supporters don't realize is that we're currently living in Trump's economy. The reality is that while he wasn't in office, he used the House as his own personal veto to block any substantial legislature from passing under Biden/Harris, so it makes them look incompetent. The economy bottoms out, countries go to war, the border explodes. I won't say it's all Trump's fault, however. As with the border, just like when Trump wanted to get rid of Obamacare but didn't have anything to replace it, Biden removed Trump's border policies with nothing to replace it. At least Trump didn't get rid of Obamacare without having something to replace it. Just too many mistakes on Democrats part, and too much interference from Trump from the outside. Now Trump will have unchecked power, just one step closer to a dictatorship.

First Trump's administration is going to be jacked up with little known outliers with controversial and radical ideas. That is what Trump is attracted to. His ideas of tariffs and mass deportations are deplorable. They both disadvantage the US instead making it better. However, the tariffs may as well be a scam to get companies profits as when Trump says 10% on item A, companies are going to raise the cost of item A 12 to 15% or so and blame the cost increase on tariffs. For deportation's, I hope most people realize that many working the fields as low wage labor are very well illegals, but they are hired because they keep food costs low. Raising all prices for the poor Republicans will not be beneficial because prices on goods can increase 15% or more but their employer is certainly not going give them a 15% raise to match the cost of living. So Trump has already made the business environment good for more profits by planning to make life more expensive for everyone so business can absorb the additional profits. Probusiness politicians help businesses make money and that money comes from households and the government. And making the government spend more means the government needs to tax more. But TRump is cutting taxes for the people that have the most money. And Trump raising prices with tariffs justs makes households poorer and business richer. Naturally, the stock market will record highs when all the indicators are that business will be making much greater profits from households when Trump takes office.

Canadians complain because they've only seen good throughout their lives. I, as an immigrant, appreciate everything this country has given me and truly love Canada from the bottom of my heart. Travelling to a country and living + working in the same country are 2 very different experiences. My friends, family, and colleagues based in the UK, Spain, US, Australia, and Dubai all have been complaining about things very similar to what you're complaining about. It's not a Canada issue, COVID unfortunately screwed up the whole world.

I'm Hispanic, 3rd gen American. My great grandparents were born in Mexico, my grandparents were born in Texas in the 1920s. Anyway, I grew up an hour from the Mexican border. I don't know any family that lives in Mexico. IDK why these media pundits feel that because I'm Hispanic, I would want an open border. I'm as American as anyone else. my dil is mexican and is here legally. last march my son called me very early one morning with the news that his brother in law had been randomly murdered the night before. he was also in this country legally. as is my Dil's younger sister who lives with them. They also recently took in one of her younger sister's high school friends who was pregnant. they kept the girl safe with them until she gave birth. when I visited last may, I brought multiple baby gifts for the girl. when I have posted this before. there were many hateful comments that my son's brother-in law was probably killed by another illegal. Actually he was here in the country legally, as is my daughter-in-law. my DIL works hard doing payroll at a portland contracting company. she is here legally. at this point I can't wrap my mind around the hate that is thrown on people from other countries. most of us have ancesters that came from other places. I know that I do.

Anyone reading this that is planning on crossing the border. I'm gonna be frank with ya. Aside from the fact that you probably shouldn't be trying to circumvent our laws just to avoid a situation you don't like in the USA right now... you also shouldn't be trying to cross our border in what is becoming our winter season. \n\nThere are plenty who try, and many do meet a grim fate due to the elements they are just not prepared for. And even if you think you can do it, or prepare enough to do it, you still shouldn't. There isn't much you can do when you have fallen into one of the many sloughs that hide beneath the snow and ice during winter, waiting to make you a popsicle. And if you get out of that, you still have to somehow get warm again. But let's say you avoid that, what then? Well, we have these really cold biting winds that make the -30 temps feel like -40 or worse. But you came prepared, so let's say you can handle that for a bit. Well, you sweat. You will get damp, then wet, over time. Then your fancy clothing doesn't do much for you anymore. Ya dig?\n\nOh but wait, there's more. So we have this wildlife eh', and it likes to do this thing that wild life does... and it eats you. Coyotes are one such kind of wildlife. Bears are another. Both are prolific in certain areas, all the way down to the border in some cases. \n\nGranted, coyotes usually aren't a huge problem for us up here, but that's cause we know how to deal with them usually. Bears are another issue, that even we have problems with at times. You'll probably run into a black bear if you run into one. Grizzlies tend to be further north and to the west. You're gone too far somehow if you find Polar bears. \n\nThere are other critters to mention, but they're more active in the summer, like rattle snakes. (Yes, we have them)\n\nOkay, so you got past the border, and you actually somehow managed to survive the winter temps in your trek to some sort of civilization. Now you have to somehow find a place to live. This is of course assuming you decided to try to bypass all our border security of course. You could go to an embassy and declare asylum I guess. But right now, you're more likely to be given a ticket back to where you came from initially. So that's not something in the game plan for you. What then?\n\nWelcome to being homeless. Oh, and you're still having to deal with our winter temperatures. \n\nSuffice to say, right now is not a good time to be trying to ignore our laws just to do whatever you want. Consider this a fair warning, as this about all the F's I have to give over it all in regards to your safety. As American citizen I move to Thailand 5 years ago, I legally came into this country, I have to report every 3 months to immigration, I have to show document that I have proof of income, I have to have sufficient income to live here, if not they would kick me out! There's no handouts here in Thailand, there's no crime, no racial tension! why a AMERICA can't do the same?

This is bs. There are many people that voted for Trump that is against mass deportation of law abiding illegal immigrants, but are for deporting violent criminals and securing the border and keeping illegal immigration out. What about the dreamers? They should be exempt from deportation. They speak English, they've assimilated into American culture, they own businesses and most importantly, being deported back to Mexico is technically being deported to a foreign country they have never lived in.
