the whole world wants the right type of immigrants which mean they don't want them from certain parts of the world and of a certain relgion.

It’s not about immigration, it’s about integration. Certain people take advantage of liberal democracies, live off social welfare, don’t t contribute and want separate laws for themselves. This is what the average European is against but the politicians and media are tone deaf. The consequences are there for all to see in the UK. Even Tommy Robinson for example welcomes Indian (legal) immigrants who assimilate and contribute.

There are certain groups that are set against assimilation. That is the problem
2024-08-12 0
why is it that a certain race is always that violates the law and then claims to be victim because of their race. Why is there a stereotype ? Maybe just maybe, they are not the victim of race but rather the streotype is right and the problem is that specific race. There isnt any racism, there is just stereotypes. This is why i would never rent to such race. Its just not worth the risk. Solution - that specific racial leaders should try to promote postiive role models vs. portraying them as victims and trying to milk the system using victimhood.

Asylum should just be for those who are coming from certain countryz, ie north korea, some african countrys if your gay and the like

This what yall get for still trying to be European ??. the socialist handout system always fail when the population reach a certain level without any war (stealing resources) atleast

I think all we need to do is pay more attention to what’s happening throughout Europe! Mass migration is destroying everything in its wake, it should and must be stopped immediately, this country is not prepared nor able to support any more immigrants, what we need is to take care of and create security for the Canadians born in this country, the natural population, not immigrant population, extend our hand when we are certain that our own future security is firmly rooted! Including our laws, and ideologies,First Nations and generational Canadian before immigrants.

Just like eating what you want to eat, living where you want to live is an equal right given to all people around the world. Therefore, it is classic racism to prevent people from coming to the Canada from certain countries.

That's the problem : certain groups of students abuse the system so that the country is forced from now on to takevdrastic measures. Now all students are getting a bad name

I was going to say the immigrant only thing is one thing on TOP of the INSANE pricing... you gotta be a girl working and can't have ANY vice or plan on having ANY kind of life or freedom even though you pay to live there, even working a full time job you will be struggling and majority of these lower rent places were great and usually always been for students no matter what your sex or where you are from to which if you are getting government money to attend school you can only work a certain amount of hours with that funding for school being BARELY enough to get by and forget about it if you have disability you get slightly more but NO landlord wants you if you have disability.... Landlords need to be stopped and controlled.

Unfortunately the claim of racism is what immediately shuts down any real discussion of this issue.\n\nThe fact of the matter is housing prices are FAR too high. And while there are certainly main contributors, one cannot simply ignore the area of supply and demand. Too many people looking for too few locations to live. It doesn't get more basic than that.\n\nThe PROBLEM is our economic growth numbers are DEPENDANT on immigration, and if we just cut immigration the numbers will plummet and foreign investment will tank. We'd dug this hole for ourselves by voting in leaders that rely on immigration to prop up what is fundamentally a very weak economy.

Not against immigrants, just against immigrants from certain countries

The lack of public services being expanded in the 80's and 90's was based on a certain amount of immigration per year. They did not predict the steep rise in people moving to the western world. \nWhilst the Guardian is pro immigration, can they not see that in the UK, USA, Ireland, Canada and other EU countries, too much immigration is bad? Wealthy journalists do not live in working class areas, so dont see the problems it causes ?

If Black Americans move in certain neighborhoods, the Americans cry bloody murder. But sit idle as immigrants invade the country. What a joke.
2024-08-10 0
The most damming part of this whole situation is the fact that there a numerous government programs to help certain segments of the immigrant population but little for citizens
2024-08-09 0
People could hire certain individuals to “ take care” of the tenant.
2024-08-09 0
So many people come and commit crimes, ignore our laws and live off the government. We needed certain skilled people and I could care less what country they come from as that immigration is crucial to our economy and population. Right now there isn't enough housing for our own citizens. It's irresponsible. If families want to sponsor an immigrant family that's awesome. The rest of us want our tax money actually going to our citizens. That's not racist, that's common sense.

i dont understand, when im late on my rent i get an eviction notice dated for a certain day, if that day comes they show up with police and move me out? why is it so different in toronto, im only in edmonton canada.

One thing is absolutely certain.\nIf the landlord were NOT a visible minority.\nIf the landlord were canadian born Caucasian, this report would never have aired.\nThe tenant might be a complete jerk but no matter what we, as viewers must follow the “poor-little-hardworking-immigrant” idea.\nSo sick of the propaganda.

Ordinarily this news channel, like others, would turn off the comments to protect whatever narrative is out there regarding certain protected groups. But this, because of the people involved, they open the comments so that bigots can hurl their abuse at leisure!

The usual suspects\n\nAnd you wonder why why landlords don’t rent to certain demographics
2024-08-09 0
The population explosion of certain countries mixed with their inability to provide for their population is leading to this huge influx. You can't be naive to point the obvious.

Yall are coming to canada and we are trying to get out. You are not doing yourself a favour by coming here, this is not the same country it was years back. People here have become more american; rude, disrespectful, overly egotistical, our streets arent safe anymore, car thefts at an all time high and no one talks about the amount of random acts of violence coming from the homeless in my area, housing prices surging YoY by atleast 11%/year. Cost of living has increased 4-10x on certain things in the grocery stores. I love how everyone thinks their country is great till it isnt then flood somewhere else and bring all the issues and problems with them

I am an Indian and every day I see ads from Canadian universities promising me work visas and top quality education. I also get calls from agents time to time saying my alma matter is more than enough to land me a job there and they just need a certain amount of money to send me to canada with work permit without any college enrollment.

Here is a tip for the west. Stop going along with a certain country (sorry Youtube will sensor me if I name it. But it's currently in the middle of a genocide) and stop bombing and sanctioning (economic violence) other countries and you wouldn't have this problem! Have you noticed that country never takes in the refugees it's actions creates?

There’s a certain color of people you shouldn’t deal with especially in financial matters

Canada will have multiple problems in the coming decade due to worst immigrants and refugees entering in Canada. Certain ethnicities don’t even appreciate the values of this country
2024-08-08 0
It's disheartening to see that the actions of a few states in India, known for certain activities, are tarnishing the reputation of the entire country
2024-08-08 0
As an Indian....I agree to it as well. Immigration beyond a certain point Destroys the identity of the country.
2024-08-08 0
I got my first job at 14. Thats probably impossible today for teens now competing with others arriving from abroad. We created a problem we didn’t need. I don’t think “it’s who we are.” Canada and every other country historically bring in immigrants in so far as how they fill a need for a certain skill. Today it’s just a matter of poor management.

Zero-net population growth or very slow growth is desirable for a host of reasons. Immigration is not inherently a virtue. Not inherently a vice either. Its value depends entirely upon the context in which it is taking place. Here are some reasons why Canada should reduce immigration to achieve eventual zero-net population growth.\n\n(1) The ecology: Canada is possibly the world's worst country per capita in producing waste – certainly among the worst. (a) As of now we have a population of 40 million. At its present rate of growth our population will reach 50 million in 2041. This will require a 20% reduction in waste production per capita simply to keep waste production at the present level. This reduction will not happen. (b) In addition, freshwater resources cannot be expanded at all, really (desalinization can only produce a drop in the bucket). Hence, look for shortfalls in water availability. (c) From a global perspective, it is the rich countries, such as Canada, that pollute the most, both absolutely and on a per capita basis. Therefore rich countries should not increase their populations. Immigrants do not come to rich countries to be better ecologists than the citizens of those countries. Immigrants to Canada want to live like Canadians, as Canadians. The problem here is not that they will not assimilate to Canadian ways, but that they will. \n\n(2) Housing: with 500,000 new immigrants a year, housing starts cannot keep pace. The result: ever-inflating housing costs. Rich immigrants compound the problem. \n\n(3) Suburbanization: most of the new housing in Canada is in highway suburbs (over 80%), with their car-driven way of life. Once again, this is bad for the country’s ecological health. In addition, the result will be ever-growing geographies of nowhere. We will not be creating more Victorias or Quebec Cities. We will be creating more Surreys. \n\n(4) Downward pressure on the incomes of most people: the law of supply and demand is very simple: when there is a surplus of any commodity, that commodity becomes cheaper. When a commodity is scarce, its value rises. Labor is a commodity. Workers rightly do not want there to be a surplus of labor. Their livelihoods are threatened. \n\n(5) Future care of the old: the more people we add now, the more people we will have to take care of later, when their working lives are done. Adding immigrants now to pay for the care of the old is therefore a pyramid scheme. Eventually, in a generation or two, the population of the world is set to decline, and the well of immigrants will run dry. Canada should aim for fewer, rather than more, retirees – as preparation for that coming moment.

When the reality is there's more than enough to go around - enough resources for citizens, legal residents and additional immigrant influx - new faces are welcomed by all. \n\nWhen the _perception_ is that there's enough to go around but the reality doesn't reflect this, mostly conservative and certain liberal types start raising question, doubts and concerns. \n\nWhen the reality is that resources and infrastructure are strained, along with unrestrained ever rising COL, everyone regardless of political alignment starts raising questions doubts and concerns regarding the feasibility of such policies. \n\nIt isn't necessarily against those immigrating as long as they're earnest but rather, having to do with budgets and budget cut allocations seemingly favoring others when the priority is usually one's own initially. \n\nTl;dr : It's money. No other way to slice it when examined analytically. The economy, national debt, budget and budget cut allocations.

There is no more room .\nThat's it . Work out the problems in your own countries and certainly\nDo not come here for the\nDream .

It's genuinely exhausting to watch even so-called progressive outlets like the guardian foment fear and anger against migrants and refugees rather than someone, anyone, possibly questioning whether the incentives for property developers and landlords might, in-fact, be a potential factor in the ongoing housing crisis. But sure, it must be immigration to blame for the exact same housing crisis happening across Canada, Australia, the US, the UK and half of Europe, must be just that one simple factor and definitely not any other systemic or economic factors which might underlie how housing, governance, and migration are linked. \n\nBecause all of those countries certainly have one thing in common, and you're all correct, they all have identical immigration policies, right? Right? Couldn't be the hyper-commodification of housing and development rights stoked under the neo-liberal systems of governance which ACTUALLY forms a shared commonality between these countries. But that would be hard to think about, best just to blame the immigrants, makes life easy breezy. Can't see any problems down the line with that line of thought, right Britain? We'll just keep doing race riots every decade then, instead of actually trying to agitate against any of the problems at the heart of this issue. Solved. Too easy.

This is SUCH a puff piece completely one sided that dismisses legitimate concerns as the only reason being xenophobic......Canada has always welcomed people but it was done at a lot slower pace where people had a chance to assimilate and build a life. You can't add over a million people a year with different cultures and pretend it's going to be ok. Ignoring the massive housing crisis, it's a culture crisis. A lot of the people coming do not share Canadian values, period. Canadians are noticing a massive change in the country they love seemingly overnight. You go out in any city and you barely see white people anymore. It's jarring. It was made into an amazing country by certain people and now it seems new immigrants are treated better than citizens. Everyone is in favor of immigration done the right way, but that isn't what's happening and natural born Canadians have every right to be upset that the country is being ruined in a way they don't want.

Because of the immigration policies, certain races are being villainized. I’m an Indian born and raised here and have never felt more insecure. Blame the policies, not the people!

Those who say we need immigration to be “prosperous”, whose prosperity is i securing? Certainly not those who can’t get housing

Uncle Mr. RightWhite is back, offering lessons for those who might need a bit of enlightenment. Certainly, the immigration system can be problematic, largely because our government, composed of less-than-astute individuals, fails to put forth a comprehensive roadmap when planning to increase the number of immigrants (consider housing, healthcare, infrastructure, etc.). This is why Uncle Mr. RightWhite always says: don't be lazy and vote wisely. Use your brains so you don't end up whining on social media.\nTo our new immigrants: Of course, you're welcome to come to Canada, legally, as most do. But it's crucial to learn about the local culture, language, and customs. And please, do take the time to learn about First Nation culture—it’s vital for every newcomer and even those of us who have been here for generations.\nAs for the increasing numbers of nonwhites in Brampton—well, yes, that’s happening. But did anyone forcibly remove you from Brampton? You chose to live among those who share your background, and they did the same. So, what's the fuss about?\nSo, you're saying that a 69.8% majority is under threat? Really, give your brain a good shake. If that's a concern, have more children to increase your numbers—no one's stopping you. Now, if you’re worried about Brampton being full of South Asians, and you feel they don't like you or don't assimilate, well, let's have a laugh. Did we assimilate with our vibrant, beautiful First Nation communities? language? culture?Imagine how they felt when Europeans took everything from them. Stop putting your failures on others. Individuals who are high achievers dive into competition and put in the hard work. Conversely, those who are indolent merely whine on social media. education - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Canada

American's are always surprised a Canadian knows about their teams, NFL is big in Canada.. US has everything for certain, it's a big draw.. Have always had great interaction with American's.

Trudeau has made a mess with his immigration policies. We certainly didn't need all these people here. Especially the sick and criminals.

Canadians have been programmed to think a certain way. If you're e a Canadian that is immune to this psychological torture, its tough to see it happen to others.

As a Canadian I can say I have no issue with immigrants or anyone trying to seek a better life as I am the son of immigrants. My issue is with our government taking in way more than our economy and infrastructure can handle at a time where it's already under strain. \n\nAdd to the fact they're almost all from the same race, it makes certain areas lose all diversity and a ripe ground for racist sentiments. It's not uncommon where I can be in a grocery store or restaurant and every single customer and cashier is an Indian. At the very least let's diversify where we are taking them all in from. \n\nThe cynical side of me makes me think they are desired by corporations because these people are seen as an easy resource to exploit since they're willing to put up with more and receive less.

Pro tip: make irresistible food mainstream. Look at the most popular and mainstream cuisines from migrant cultures, they certainly don't face anti-immigration vibes.

Family immigrated there in 85. Back then my parents needed to prove and bring certain assets as part of the requirements. \n\nNow it seems they don’t really care, just come in with nothing, and the first thing to figure out is how to get the gov to pay out to sustain.\n\nHow this change came about… got no idea. \n\nAnd when looking at it culturally, that has changed as well. Being Chinese, we brought along our traditions. Those were celebrated and introduced to other Canadians, and it was a joyous thing. That being said, Canadian culture should come first and foremost. That should be understood. You are living underneath someone else’s roof, you should learn their culture and accept it. If not, why are you there.\n\nNowadays, it feels like it is a right to alter, and place your original culture above that of Canada’s. That’s just weird. Why did you move there in the first place if you can’t accept and get along with everyone else there.\n\nI decided to move back to Hong Kong because I didn’t like it, and for people that feel the same, get out of there. People that want to stay in Canada should be contributing, and live like a Canadian.\n\nProud to be Canadian, but it feels different now. Only hear crimes and homelessness, drugs… gun violence. How things have changed in these past 25 years or so.\n\nI do hope the gov wakes up. But yeah, not betting on it. Wish my fellow Canadians the best of luck. It’s a pity that groups fighting for this issue is being called racist. Utterly ridiculous… the power of the western media. ?

Our country is certainly not what it used to be. Must be a coincidence that everything is a complete mess. ??

In the 1930s Germany, a certain group was scapegoated for all the problems the country was facing and we all know how that fearmongering ended!\nSome say that Trumpism, in various degrees, has once again reignited xenophobic sentiments across the world as a diversionary and convenient tactic!\nLet's see if history will repeat itself!

Immigration is no different than any other policy, its simply more visible. I would argue that people are getting tired of government simply dictating policy. I'm in the maritimes, which has long been neglected by the federal government and immigrants NEVER settled here. \n\n Our economy is growing for the first time in generations and thats due to immigration, even our conservative Premier admitted that. \n\n That said, immigration is being dictated by INDUSTRY, even the opposition hardly talks about it. Its simply crazy to be bringing in this much immigration this fast. There is no 'hurry' for immigrants, or there certainly shouldn't be.
