I've lived in Canada for around 8 yrs, still don't get it, how come a country with 2nd largest land in the world has a housing crisis?? When I just arrived in the country, the cost to own a house was around $400k, now it is about $750k to maybe $900k. I am soooooo regret I didn't get one when it's relatively affordable.

Canada and U.S. are almost the same, high rate of taxes/cost of living/rent, etc. but anyone who wants more opportunity for their children, just have to be patient especially for new immigrants because when I immigrated here in the U.S. way back on 1979, I had my family with me, my wife (pregnant) and 4-daughters, ages 8, 6, 4, 2 that even I am a civil engineer and a Captain with the PA, worked in Saudi Arabia for 1 year, I started working as a security guard, then draftsman, engineering associate, manufacturing operator, etc. and now retired with my children & grandchildren enjoying their lives, have good jobs.

My friend who lived in canada for 14 years. His wife get pregnant and they could not get appointment to see doctor untill 8 to 9 weeks waiting. One time they went for emergency and waiting time was 43 hours. Seriously, Canada have poorest healthcare systen. He clearly said that he did biggest mistake to moved in canada 14 years back. He finally planning to move out this december and leave canada parmenantaly.

Changed Name - One of my colleague had his hand dislocated and had to wait 8 hours in line to see doctor, Noone offered him any meds for pain or nothing. Once he got the chance to see doctor, they told him to get get x-ray and it's unbelievable that he got the x-ray appointment after 9 months. Till that time he just got the hand band to support his dislocated hand and he got healed with time. Ridiculous I can't imagine the pain he Has been through

Its crappy, I'm at the point in my life where me and my fiancée are making more money then we ever have, but its going no where. We need immigrants, we do not need this much. I go on tiktok and there are tutorials for people coming into this country on how to obtain free food, like from food banks and what not, spite the fact we have minimum funding requirements for students coming here. It sucks, because the minimum isn't high enough for somebody to actually live off, and its taking food away from desperate Canadians who really need it.
