I would assume the increased legal consequences would skew the new illegal border crossings from migrants looking for work so they can raise their kids in a country with more economic oppurtunities to a higher percentage of criminals mixed in. I've had some completely institutionalized friends in Baltimore and can say that the bouncing in and out of prison/ have most exciting/chaotic situations/ brag to your friends while you pass the time locked up/ all around adrenaline rush is going to make that crowd see the conseqences as a nuicense and an exclusive challenge. Sort of the same reason that before consumer space travel, some people that grew up absurdly wealthy would do really foolish things to brag about, like climb MT Everest.

This is total BS, some people should do some fact checking, we have not did any thing different that we had agreed to with Biden, American are so gullible.

This very same thing of people flying-in then crossing the border was happening in Mexico during the four years of Joe Biden. During the Democratic debates Biden invited everyone who was an asylum seeker to surge the border to the U.S. So Biden is to blame for sure but so is Trump. Why? because he placed an economic embargo on Venezuela which then drove all the Venezuelans, Colombians to the Mexican border.

People are just getting paid! What in the world are those protesters doing that could possibly equal up to $2 million dollars? Not a damn thing! Everybody's just pocketing money left and right. And what I find hilarious, these people that are standing outside in protesting they do not live in the same neighborhoods as these migrants do. They're upper middle class fucking people. And if the truth be told, if all of these extremely wealthy leftists were about that life, they could just band together and donate 20 million dollars to house migrants. But they're not going to do that. It's a lot cheaper just to get on X and scream and holler and turn on the camera and cry that it is, to actually put your money where your virtue is

People forget that border is not the sole responsibility of Canada! Migrants and stuff flows both directions! So why is Canada being made to deal with the entire thing? Where were the Americans stopping the flow coming north? No where, being dropped off by the busload and directed north into Ontario and Quebec! This entire continent has this same issue. With Trump running this country why would anyone want to even come here? I thought Canada was doing better at their borders as people I know going through their get such hassles. Weird. What you do is look at all the resources, customs, inspectors, the massive amount from both sides on that border, ok?\nNow, it would be far FAR better than you take all of that and you now MOVE IT, all those choppers, people, money, time, resources along the North American border. the OUTSIDE perimeter of Canada and the outside perimeter of USA. \nNow, Canada does a far far better job stopping 1000s of Sikhs ad Chinese and whoever else before they GET INTO North American landmass. \n otherwise, yes it's difficult to stop once they are INSIDE Canada because that border is so long, so vast, so sparsely populated, wilderness forever, forests, it becomes extremely difficult by that time. \nErase the phony border.

Look, I don't like Trudeau, especially as a Canadian, but that border arrangement was in place in December of last year. I have been telling people they were going across from here for the last 3 years, and nobody seemed to care. The only thing new is appointing a 'border czar'. Americans have really drunk the koolaid and don't realize that they are the only ones who think their country is so amazing. There are some cool things about America but nothing worth moving there for especially from Canada. I think the only people that would think America is so great are people who are running from some terrible country (probably couldn't get into Canada). I use to enjoy visiting America every now and then but in this climate there's not a chance you'll catch me even visiting.

Reading the comments, people are quick to forget how politicians operate. They say some good things to keep people from hownding them, but dont follow up with actions. Saudi, most of the gulf actually, jordan and turkey etc they say things they know ppl would prefer to hear, but they say it to keep ppl off their back. They are all helping israel in different ways. When I go to the hospital in Canada I don't have to wait if people think that then they're wrong and then I get treated and don't pay a thing so I hope Americans understand that they pay thousands of dollars for healthcare that most Canadians can walk in and get for free,, yes it comes off our taxes but everybody in the country taste those taxes even if they don't use Healthcare so it helps people that are really in need

It must also be noted that many people from India are already in those countries. I live in Indiana and the number of people from India has doubled or tripled in the last few years. They do jobs like research and other medical field related things. There's also a large number of Indian students in colleges too. The reality is the newer generation will have to work harder to get the things the last did, because the last generation is still there. I am Québécois, and things here are quite different from the rest of Canada. For example, we have a law here that clearly forbids wearing religious signs when in a position of authority. Even a teacher, because they are a figure of authority for their students, could not wear the Roman collar, a cassock, a hijab, a niqab or anything else of the sort while in school. In the streets or any other public place, there is no problem at all. Everyone is welcomed to express their difference of culture or religion in the way they dress or in whatever other way. They are treated with the same respect and kindness as anywhere else in Canada. It is only that the separation of religion and state, and religion and authority is paramount here. Everybody is free and can express themsleves freely. But don't use that freedom to impose your views onto others. \nSo, when American judges are chosen for the federal court specifically because of their christian fundamentalist biases, it doesn't resonate well at all for me or the majority of Québécois. When the rights of the LGBTQ+ community are being questioned or jeopardised. Or a previous federal judgement like Roe v Wade is being overturned for religious reasons... it is a definite turn off for all of the Québec people to even remotely consider the United States as a destination to emigrate to (supposing that one would want to leave our beautiful country).\nMore and more, America, that used to be recognized as the land of the free, appears to be retrograde and restrictive and definitely not so free.

It’s off to me that when things get bad in a country there is always a certain percentage of people that are just ready to give up and leave. Why would you not stay and fight for what you call your home? These people are desperate, can you imagine things being so bad in your own country that you travel thousands of miles to try to get into another one that promises a better life? Hi everyone, I'm just going to weigh in some experience here. These people have given up on their government to fix things. They had it good before when Venezuela was wealthy not so long ago. They want that back. Who wouldn't. They want a chance at a better life . They have in most cases already sold all possessions for traveling money and bribes or security. They are scared and tired of traveling. They got told to come to America by someone. I wish we could afford as a country to take them all and it be ok and they build a good life here. I wish it was like that. The system we have needs work for certain. The USA is being overwhelmed by too many coming. We have to slow the roll . But it's a bad situation for all involved. They will look for an illegal way if needed to make it. Hence the cartels step in and offer a way in exchange for money or drug smuggling and the trouble gets worse. There is no simple solution here. Rough on everyone.

How are Venezuelans deported? Mexicans? Guatamalans, Hondurans? In shackles or without them? As a trans person seeking to escape trump, what is the best course of action? I'm trying the proper route through the immigration process but with how rapidly things are declining in the states for queer people so is it better to take the asylum route or wait the process. I'm personally done with the states and have 0 desire to stay here or ever come back, however what shows that the exact thing happening here wont move it's way up north in the future?

All you Trump supporters refused to comprehend that only people who are black and bronwn being deported. Immigrants come from all over the world. You don't see any white person being stopped and asked for an I.D. or paperwork. But, hate is the only thing people see and want against those from other race that are not white. Maybe other countries should not allowed anyone from the U.S. to enter their country in retaliation.

I have spent quite a bit of time in USA and I always find my experience split. For the most part the people and places are great. As a filmmaker I have shot in NYC, California, Mississippi to name a few. The people were always accommodating and friendly. One time a gentlemen and his wife that allowed us to film in his property would bring us hot chocolate at night, then offered to shoot anyone who got in our way. I was also filming in the desert in 2009 and I almost got shot in the face by a group of police officers that charged in guns out and tempers raging, before realizing that we had film permits and were scheduled to be on site. Only to have the crew say that if I was black they would have shot first and asked questions later. As tensions rise between Canada and USA with Trump's trade war and attempt to ANNEX Canada I think I will do my filming in other parts of the world, if not in Canada. I have plenty of American friends and know a lot of Canadians that live in the US. I just hope things settle between our two nations soon. Where do you live?
