For me...I didn't mind visiting the States but to live there? No thanks. I live in Northern Ontario. My health for one, but I never felt comfortable down there at all. (been right down to GA for Dragon Con. A sci-fi/gaming/movie etc convention and other things) I have good friends down there so visiting is fine, but I just can't.

Never lived in the US but have visited a lot. I do have family in Washington state and I really enjoy visiting that part of the country. I didn't like New York and California only because of the sheer amount of people. Way too many people for my liking. Walking down the streets I felt like I was being shoulder checked with every step. In some smaller areas, absolutely loved the people and communities. Very friendly, and I find Americans to be very patriotic which I absolutely love! Health care and gun violence would be enough to keep me away though. Now in 2023, I find America becoming political polarized. Just watching the news is enough to raise my blood pressure (which I don't even have). If I got a chance to leave the snow behind, I think I would choose overseas on a island somewhere. Also at the age where I want peace and quiet. Raised kids already so more on the downlow and quite beach life. Thanks for your videos Tyler you are definitely one of my favorite Americans. I have a work visa for the US and go there often. I go to many places that are not in the cities. I'm actually in South Dakota as I write this and find it to be a very pleasant place. I generally find everybody to be very friendly but can't help feel there are some topics that I just don't feel comfortable talking about in fear of triggering a strong response. I like visiting but would not consider moving there to raise a family. There is just a much greater chance of volitivity there. \n One time, while dinning out, I had a guy ask me, that because I didn't have a gun, what would I do if someone came to my home to rob me at gun point. I told him it never happens. But he insisted many times, but what if they did. I told him that it's not something I'd ever thought about and that I probably had a greater chance of dying on the plane ride home than being shot by an armed robber in my own home. But he kept insisting. I eventually told him I would help the robber take my stuff out of the house because that is what I have insurance for. I could not believe that this guy did not understand the concept of NO ONE (other then criminals shooting other criminals in the city) having a gun. \n I actually do have a long gun at my place in the country but that's to keep me safe from large animals that may come out of the bush. It is locked up in a gun cabinet by law. I would never think of using it against another person. I'd go to jail for sure if I did. Many of my friends hunt and have several guns but the restrictions on where and when you can use them and the strict storage requirements help ensure that they are not travelling around with a gun at hand. There are actually a few places in Canada where I've been that you do, or should, have to travel with a gun but these are remote areas of the country with large predatory animals. 99% of the population do not live in these areas.

I would never live there. A teacher friend of mine moved from Nova Scotia with her professor husband. She taught French at Virginia Tech. She and some of her college students were murdered by a gunman who burst into her morning class. Way too much gun violence there for me. Way too much political division. Way too much Christian conservative right evangelical ideology. Way too much disparity between the rich and the poor. Way too many people in general. Way too much emphasis on an individual version of freedom that does not take into consideration the greater good of others in society. I have two cousins who live out there, however. They have lived there for many years. One is a wealthy plastic surgeon in Florida and the other is retired in New England but also well off. She just proudly got her American citizenship, in fact. They love their lives there and would never move back to Canada. It really depends on the values of the person.

My opinion as a Canadian with no first hand life experience in the states but personally know plenty of people who do and follow many Americans on social media.\n\nI like to look at both sides of the story when I don’t personally know any better. First thing is when it comes to health care, Canadians use only the cost as an argument but never the quality. The only time I will ever use the government funded healthcare is for a broken bone. Any other issues my knowledge and experience makes me stay far and clear away from the hospitals. However I was talking with a retired business man who spends winter in Florida and he said he had a health issue while there, was referred to a certain doctor by a friend, made an appointment within a few days, not a yearlong waitlist, and with one visit had his issues fixed. Paid the bill and was done with it. Not a story of take this for a while then come back, come back to get referred to a specialist, wait a few months for the specialist, get an appointment 6 months later, and after surgery you feel only slightly better because in your mind you should be better. I do believe Canadian healthcare is low quality and sadly designed for the government to make money. American healthcare is private and needs to offer good quality services in order to succeed.\n\n\nNext subject is violence. Everyone I know and follow in the states have never had any major acts of violence towards them. I believe just like Canada, some areas are more prone to violence but since the states have 10x more people, they have 10x more violent spots which makes it seem worse. Rural Canada and rural United States seems to me very similar in the way people treat each other. \n\n\nI wouldn’t be scared to move there if that’s what would be best. Doubt it’ll happen because I enjoy having the amount of unpopulated area to go riding atvs, snowmobiles, and whatever else. Seems like the states have less area that everyone can freely enjoy but I could be wrong

Greetings from Vancouver ??\nI often travel to see friends in Seattle, San Francisco, Santa, Anna, and Phoenix.\nI do enjoy doing some visiting and some travel, but I always feel on edge primarily because of the bat shit crazy people that have guns down. There is absolutely amazing and not in a good way. Don’t get me wrong I’m a Canadian gun owner here, but, I believe and sensible gun laws.\nI couldn’t do without a universal healthcare, affordable prescription, drugs, and federally legalised cannabis. \nAmnesty International has had a travel advisory about the US for a few years, now advising people not to travel due to the level of violence that occurs daily . Averaging one mass shooting a day and last year. I do believe there is 40 score shootings. To me is more than enough reason, never to advise anyone to move to the US. And women should have complete autonomy over their own body and make their own decisions.

I don't believe 1 single kid in Canada has ever actually shot their friend or themselves and I don't recall any school shootings in Canada. Only one that comes to mind was the college massacre in like the 70s that I believe changed gun laws her for the better.

I lived in MA for 17 years. I liked it and have many friends from there. I would go back, but yes, the healthcare would stop me. Getting older, needing more medical intervention. Not having to worry about healthcare costs is easy. I also said that the US was one step away from being behind the iron curtain. There is not the same freedoms there as there is here in Canada. The media controls the nation. Too much news. Not so here.\n\nWhile in Florida recently, my friends granddaughter was in a mall hiding from an active shooter. She was calm, I was hysterical.

Oh no, I don’t like it when Americans see stuff like this. One of Canadian’s less admirable qualities is that we can be a little smug when comparing ourselves to the US.\n\nTo cheer Tyler up there are some things I prefer about the states. Where I live in Vancouver we’re quite cliquish and don’t talk to strangers, but when I’m in the states I can make a new best friend in a subway ride.\n\nAmericans are also extremely charitable. If you look at the rates of charitable giving in the US vs Canada there is no comparison.

No question there are many things thatAmericans can enjoy that are not available for Canadians. For one, the variety of consumer goods is more plentiful due to the size of your population. Our population is one tenth of the U.S. so the consumer market is much smaller. Having lived in the US for a dozen years, I missed so many things about Canada. Now living back here I appreciate our universal health care and the fact that everyone isn’t walking around with a weapon. Those were the two things that really bothered me about the US. I had a great job and worked with great people and we continue to be friends. And now the political climate in the US is teetering on absolute chaos. ????

Oh Tyler. I've been watching your content for months now, and I do wish you would read and interact with your commenters because you would learn so much. I'll just comment on one fact. As a young, white, childless male, I doubt you would be affected by most of the reasons people who visit and know the US here in Canada would think of. Most of my friends are in the US and I livestream with them 5 nights a week, and every time a ma ss shooting is reported, we hear about it and suffer along with you too. \n\nFACT: The number ONE cause of death for children and teens in the US is Firearm related, so gun deaths. Yes it's true, and there isn't a single friend of mine who isn't scared to express an opinion, or send their kids and grandkids to school or Uni. wherever they live in the US. Statistically speaking, almost every citizen in the US is going to know someone who is un-alived by gun violence. We have strict gun laws here, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

One of things that I learnt 33 years ago when I moved to USA was not to convert the money because you won’t be able to eat. I sponsored my mother almost 20 years ago and she didn’t enjoy living here because of her life and friends back home. It was very difficult to move here especially when you are in your fifties and especially if you aren’t working. One of the things that aunties are exaggerating is about the cost of the restaurant, I have never eaten in a restaurant that cost $400 for 4 people, even some of the best steak restaurants don’t cost that much. Final thing when they compare the Malls of Canada with India with limited supplies actually the malls here carry sizes that are not even available anywhere in the World. I do respect their views.

No, they do bring up questions such as where are you from and you respond to them then they ask you where are you from originally, they are very nosi and by many means want to find answers for their curiosity, in Toronto no one even do eye contact let alone to be friendly or socializing, if someone approaches you is not out of friendliness, it's out of their curiosity and finding out information about you. If they hear you speaking in your native ? get mad and tell you here is Canada. One thing to take note of is that amongst the UK US Canada Australia. The UK is the most visa friendly among all of them. Why is it that most people especially nigerians and other african countries are going to the UK than USA and Canada.. getting a visa to USA and Canada is not easy due to their foreign policy, and visa policy as well. Unless you're from a country their government really like then they give it to you without stress. The UK is more lenient with visa acceptance and of which that can change at anytime if they decide to review their policy.

Housing is not as affordable as it used to be in Canada. Rents and house prices are far too high. We also have massive food price inflation. Job are better in some areas than others. My beef with the job market in Canada is the wages are at 2019 levels. They need to adjust to 2023 costs of living with all the increased costs. People are friendly in Canada, as it's one of our faults.

The issue here is not that we have a housing crisis , first of all let’s start with honesty. I have multiple friends from different culture backgrounds, however, one thing that sticks out to me , and some of you may not want to hear it , it’s that most of my friends that are predominantly “white” have become homeless or nearly missed it by being able to get some rental assistance either through local or federal grants. POPULATION. \n\nCompared to countries like denmark, sweden, japan, france, uk, etc. we have a much bigger country to maintain landmass wise. Infrastructure. That costs so much money to fix as well. In summer sometimes, Nunavut or NWT will be warmer then here, we talk about it here when it happens. Think about that. Weather is HUGE in saskatchewan. We talk about weather daily. I never realized until internationals pointed that out that we are obsessed with weather in sask lol. \n\n Our housing market is a joke and I agree we need to invest more in buisnesses but at the same time we need affordable housing, we are in a weird spot. As far as working etc goes people commenting here lol the golden years of the 80s are gone old timers, my parents realize this that you guys were spoiled in one of the greatest time periods in human history - post WWII boom and the effects. I could go on and on how the 70s-90s were one of the best time periods in modern history for various reasons but I wont. There are problems internationally, we live in a globalist world. We still have it good. Go travel and make international friends. This is nothing that we are dealing with at the moment. All I will say though is leave the huge metropolitans like Toronto and Vancouver. Everyone wants to go there because they think 'theres more opportunity' ugh. Theres opportunity across canada but if everyone things like that there will be problems. The idea of Ontario or BC is just a big nope for me (although I go to BC every couple years, love it there I would not want to live there).

If the United States actually jumped in for the people of Mexico, their hearts may be swayed and they won't be allies with Russia. You can't say you have conflict with one country and their friends be the neighbor. I just had a vision of the whole US wiped out by Russia, minus CA who didn't want to fight in WW3. I don't agree with California on that call, as I would protect my nation with my life. But that doesn't mean I would protect every individual with my life. How can one say Ontario is the worst when it is one of the most populous city in Canada. Ive been to Toronto many times as I have relatives and friends there. Very nice there. We're polite and nice until we're taken advantage of or treated like an idiot! Kindness is important, but doing what's morally right is more important to me personally! So if that means me speaking up or calling out bs when I see it, I will! I do believe in giving each person their own clean slate. I adjust according to the person! That just means I don't assume anything about a person based on race, the job they have, the car they drive, how they look, the clothes they wear. Those things have no bearing on how I choose friends! It's all about the content of one's character! I do keep to myself most of the time but strive to be kind and polite when I'm around others! But everyone is different. You will run into aholes anywhere you go! Canada is NO EXCEPTION. You have to be careful still about how you move. For example as an indigenous woman I don't go out alone after dark. You can't just trust anyone and leave yourself vulnerable because you never known what someone's intentions are. You can find people that are so unkind. You can also find some of the nicest people in the world here. I imagine the same can be said about any country. Our government certainly doesn't represent us personally. We all have our own personalities and lives! And I don't judge others based on their race religion or their government at home! When I was a kid there was no shortage of people letting me know I'd never amount to anything. So yeah you can find aholes anywhere you go! Please don't leave yourself vulnerable and assume everyone here has good intentions! Especially if you travel alone! We still have a lot of issues you probably never heard of! You have to be careful anywhere you go! ❤
