As a US citizen, who voted for Trump three times, i never thought id agree with Trudeau. \nThe US cannot win a trade war, the US versus the world. It's simple mathematics, and in the geopolitical realm, What Trump is doing is going to push countries away from US influence. \nI'm all for putting the US first, I'm all for cutting the federal government fat, and I'm all for making sure we the people come first, but I'm also smart enough to know that anytime the US has gone into isolationism, it's led to global conflict.

Unbelievable that the whole world has to deal with this unqualified Criminal. They all have to speak to him as if the trade War has anything to do with them or Commerce. When in reality it's all about stealing from the poor to give to the rich. Trump does not like that he is the president to ballooned the US deficit more than any other president in history. This was done because of his tax cuts for billionaires the first time around. He wants to extend the tax cuts but he has been warned what it will do to the deficit. So tariffs are his plan to put back into the US coffers what will not be going in from billionaire taxes. The Red Hat Club has been stupid enough to buy the tariffs have anything to do with immigration or drugs. It's so easy for Trump to use these trigger issues to commit his crimes and then excuse it. The cult never questions if they're told it has something to do with hating immigrants. Tariffs are paid for by the US citizen. The little guys. It allows the US government to become a middleman in every transaction. Getting a cut when it has done nothing to deserve it. It is the way Russia runs things. Trump is always using the Russia Playbook of how to dismantle a democracy. It is the opposite of free trade and capitalism

Canadian here. I'm gonna buy whatever my wallet can afford. If it's American made and is 5 cents cheaper, I am buying it over the Canadian product. By the way Canadians, why aren't you super upset about the 20% Carbon Tax increase that's going to hit us April 1st. We have our own issues that we need to deal with here first. F*** the Russians but F*** the deep state even more, with agendas so well hidden, that we bicker back and forth about “morals.” We, the U.S. citizens have become nothing more than a cog of propaganda since the Smith-Mundt “modernization” Act—allowing US gov to propagandize us.\n\nLet’s think—elected officials officials have classified information but very rarely act on it because it doesn’t align with their constituents concerns. How can the dark corners of FBI, CIA, State department get elected officials onboard? By manipulating what we see and bolstering the voices aimed towards elected officials.\n\nI don’t know if getting into and getting out of Ukraine is/was/will be good for the overall country, but I do know shady tactics have been used to get us there and individuals need to be held accountable.

Only the American government is misbehaving towards the whole World. The moment other nations could survive without the US, then the Super-power status is dead for ever. The blessings in this is, other nations will learn to build inwardly to earn their respect in the future. Their economies will be better for it. Their citizen will drastically reduce migrations. And the US could take care of only his citizen and stop insulting others for their failures.

When Canada has sent its troops and forces to back the US in its campaigns in the 21st century, this is shameful behaviour by the Trump government.

Excellent speech! I believe that all US Tarif affected countries and regions should seek a closer economic cooperation. The world is much bigger than the US and I'm confident that there are other opportunities to be found. By the way, I watched an interview with Chrystia Freeland this morning. She had an interesting suggestion: put 100% Tarifs on Tesla cars. Excellent suggestion that caries a strong message the US government!

This was an impressive speech and chilling to the bone. People should understand the undertone that this already is the first stage of a war. America is not talking friendly anymore to Europe or Canada, the alliance is questionable now at best, treaties don't matter anymore and the US government openly supports and defends totalitarian regimes like in Russia. All you had to do was protect the border and lower the many tariffs you have on US goods. Over a million people in the US have died due to fentanyl and the human trafficking. Canada and its bureaucratic masters are realizing that America no longer wants to be part of the new world order and global elite bureaucratic government. The US is 37 trillion in debt we are currently dismantling our own corrupt bureaucracy and ending the Hegemony to focus on America first instead of policing the world for the elites. If this were to continue it would pull down every single country in the world. Perhaps if the US is becoming fiscally responsible, truly eliminate fraudulent and unnecessary spending and refocus on their local economy (just like China has been doing in the last years) the rest of the world and even Canada can finally focus on their strength and local markets. After all, don't we all miss our local stores, local artisans, vibrant neighborhoods with diverse businesses and a pride in having made in our own country? May I say that this Trump era will give the whole planet a new perspective for changing our ways, reliance on others and taking the easy and greedy road!

Harris voter here, you gotta do what you gotta do Canada. I don't know if I will make it through this but there are people out there in worse situations with more overtly oppressive governments, so I can't complain too much. The only thing I can do is hope that the breaking point is soon where those of us who don't hold contempt for compassion and intellect rise up and show the government that we have had enough. I have never wished misfortune upon another human being before, but Trump and Vance have blatantly shown that they are legitimately evil human beings with only their own interests in mind. The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security. It's hard to parse the provocation from the US as anything less than a pretext to eventually try and annexe Canada. Maybe Russia will attack the Baltics at the same time. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the US Government is no longer a friend to the free world.
