Well made. Wish I had this info atleast a decade ago. I’m one of the Sanjay. Immigrated to US in 2008 from India. In the green card queue for 10 years. Not sure if I get it in my lifetime. I have a foreign born daughter who I brought here when she was only few months old. She might have to self deport in a few years when she is 21. This is her home and only country she knew.\n\nThe US immigration system is cruel for people like Sanjay. This is ridiculous and out of hand ! Trump was 100% right and NEEDS to be stopped. Every job in Los Angeles is flooded with these people and have been working their as long as I have been born still don’t speak English all have the same backstory (which is getting old hearing it all the time) and they aren’t at all professional and to add a plus I get looked at weird when I don’t speak Spanish and totally get treated as an outsider the whole day every day every job I go to and they all baught their houses in the 80s ! Aside from what was said (making more money), other reasons why many immigrants would fight tooth and nail to get U.S. citizenship are the fact that the U.S. has a bigger and wealthier population, which translates to American companies getting more investment money. And in turn, are alot more willing to invest more of that money into their employers. This Canadian lived in Orange County CA for 10 years. I took my the 12 year old with me. I had been offered my dream job and was paid enough to have a good standard of living. However, I lived in an immigrant community to save money as I found many of the high schools were horrid compared to Canada. I had not realized the school to school inequality to be so extreme and my kid changed to independent study at home. So with a Canadian elememtary education, they graduated high school a year only while skipping no courses..\n\nMy kid had medical issues and even with good HMO insurance, we could never get a decent diagnosis until it had gotten so bad that their digestive system was so wrecked. I finally sent them back to Canada for the surgery that we could not get in the USA. It seemed the insurance companies kept getting in the way. And in one case a doctor went all religious on us. After 6 years of almost continuous pain they finally got relief for a decade until the prior damage came back to haunt them However, after a year of university ib Canada my kid went to a private university in the eastern USA. They have decided to remain in the USA and now in their mid 30s, they make really good money anf have top line medical insurance which pays for the ongoing care they need because of the damage caused by delays when a teenager. \n\nI found life in the suburbs of Orange County nice but the OC is not a good place to meet people. When after 10 years there, in 2010 I returned to Vancouver to care for my elderly mother. I had been living alone for 6 years by then and was offered the first job in Vancouver anything close to me dream job there. and I returned to Canada at age 59. I had been approved for a green card in 2008 but there was a 6 year wait for it to come through. But I noticed the racism in the USA start breaking out all over the place when Obama got elected. And it has gotten worse and worse every year. Especially with 45 enabling it so much. \n\nMy circle of friends in Southern California are mainly good people and not at all like what we call MAGA-hats now. Except one who thinks 45 was the greatest. Politically, the USA is on the path that Germany was on in 1933 and I fear for the US Democracy if the Orange One gets in again. Even my kid and their spouse have bug out plans to head to Canada just in case. This is why my kid, while having a green card has never taken US citizenship. Besides, being a Canadian has not affected things the two times they got security clearances \n\nWhile most Americans are good people, it seems that about 25% have gone just plain loco and care nothing about democracy. And appear to prefer the USA to be a totalitarian theocracy \n\nI was there long enough, paying the maximum FICA taxes for 10 years to get a small pension from Social Security and I have Medicare Part A. I can afford to buy parts B and D but I see no reason. I have even better coverage in Canada for way less cost. The USA has a nice warm climate in many places and I just loved that. But otherwise y'all have too many people who want to turn the place into an intolerant police state and to return the country to 1950s levels of intolerance, So in my retirement, I will stay here in Canada. Even though I could go and move in with my kid in the USA and get onto US Medicare.

8:15 there’s a reason for this. It’s a melting pot in America. Bringing all these different cultures together… but if too many from one country show up, they’ll make a community too large that they don’t need to melt with the population. There are Chinatowns and Little Italys and whole Mexican communities, but ultimately everyone has to interact with everyone else. Allowing 300,000 Indians to get green cards every year and only 1,000 Norwegians would lead to the Norwegians merging well with the country, while the Indians would all move to one or two cities and make entire sections of the cities like small versions of their own country. Which is the last thing we want. Once an immigrant community gets enough power to be a voting block, things are scary, but once it has enough power that they start getting their own representatives and passing laws for the rest of us? Laws the look like laws they had back in their own countries… that led them to run from their countries in the first place? It’s a concern. We want people to adapt to the USA and not try to adapt the USA to them. Over time, the US does change due to the growing voting blocs. But that’s after generations of those immigrant populations getting larger, and their children being born and raised in the country they’ve adapted to. When I see a protest of Muslim immigrants burning pride flags, or Chinese and Spanish-speaking Hispanic immigrants who never bothered to learn English, I see problems with our immigration system. But the kids of the Arab immigrants will be more tolerant, and the Hispanic kids will have grown up in American schools. Most Chinese-American kids might speak some Chinese at home with their parents, but they’re worse at it, and their first language is English. It takes second Generation immigrants to really start meshing with America. But if entire school districts are all Indian, and every store, restaurant, and business in a whole town is Indian, then those kids won’t adapt to America. They won’t get bits of their home culture from their time at home and with their neighbors, while also getting bits of American culture from their classmates and other people around them. Nope. They’ll only be exposed to the first Generation who completely took over the area- IF, we allowed for unfettered immigration from the largest countries. It’s a fact that immigrant communities like to stick together. But if not enough people are in that community that you need to reach out to others around you, it helps expose you to the rest of America… Anyway! There are a ton of shows that indirectly show this phenomena. Fresh Off the Boat. The Sopranos. Even Brooklyn 99. We see as traditional and hard-to-adapt parents have to deal with kids in the next generation who are more American, don’t follow the same customs and traditions as their parents, and overall just left more of their old culture behind. No one is asking that immigrants abandon their cultural ties, but if you come to America, there are things that people need to change and accept if they’re going to live here.

I have a different perspective… as I’ve lived in Canada since I was 2 years old (same with my wife). I’m in my early 40s and my wife is in her late 30s… the other thing is… we are of Sri Lankan decent… Tamils… BTW, I didn’t understand a thing from this interview… I’m going by what is said in the comment section.\nBut, hear me out… before you say… “Oh no… this guy has nothing in common…”\nJust so you know… I was born in Germany in 1980… my wife was born in Sri Lanka in 1985.\nWhat I noticed is all my uncles, grandparents would rave about the fact that if the war in Sri Lanka was over they would go back and live there… well… truth be told it’s been over for a while… and they go visit… but they built a new life here in Canada… and they’ve come accustomed to the luxury lifestyle here. They go back and realize that it’s not the same as it was when they were growing up… things changed… people don’t recognize them or pretend to recognize them only to take advantage of them because they know they are from Canada.\nThere is also the factor of advancement… both Sri Lanka and India is really catching up especially from the time the internet and the smartphone came along… nobody would believe… but the difference between Canada and Sri Lanka or even India in the early 90s… jeez… night and day… now it’s more equal especially in the major cities… but before… malls and escalators… people would literally ask what is that??? Elevators didn’t even have doors we had to manually close it lol…\nAnyway… that’s my point of view…\nAlso… way safer in Canada than India… how many rape cases do you hear about in Canada vs India???

All I can say as a Canadian is why would anyone want to move to the USA.The more I learn the more I love where I live the USA is a hot mess and watching the kind of people that you elect is mind boggling . Why would anyone support a bottom feeder like Donald Trump to run their country. You don't have to be a scholar to realize this man is beyond corrupt and a really bad person. Who in the world other than a 12 year old, makes up names for people and whine all the time just watching this man perform is an eye opener and as a Canadian I'm embarrassed for Americans. This man is taken a once great country and making it a laughingstock. This man should be pushed aside and find someone better to represent the Republicans . Canadas system is miles better then the US's thats for D**n sure. \n\nBut u are missing a major point here. One is to be a citizen to Canada and one is to be a citizen to the US. As a Canadian there looks like some great places to visit in the USA but i would never move to the US. The biggest issue in the US is Gun violence, there attachment to guns. Number two is health care, number three is weather volatility and more adverse weather conditions. Instead of one main government the US seems to have two which prevents any real change for the better. Money controls more government and political decisions than even in Canada which is already bad enough. The NRA controls more government and policing. They are seen as the bigger risk to American safety and security. I believe many Canadians believe the NRA are on the cusp of being the largest domestic terrorist organization and closure to a major cartel. Not even the military could control the NRA if the US decided to enforce new laws that the NRA felt would effect their financial, political or perceived control in the US. This is a big reason Canadians may not want to move to the US. To think there is a private military ready to go to war against their own people in the drop of a hat, reminding North Americans of the war between the North and South. There are beautiful places to see in the US, there are hard working and brave people in the US and i am sure there are more good people than bad but those with power, control and weapons have the great degree of balance. The US has a lot to be proud of and still so much possibility and ability to grow if it were not for those with the majority of power that is not being used for good or in the best interest of the majority of US citizens. Love the architecture and old districts and those trying to preserve the environment, farms, seed diversity and best of what made the US great.

Most Republicans will still argue that the world isn’t overpopulated, but they don’t seem to consider that many countries aren’t nice enough to live in. So if you take all the people and cram them into the areas that are fit to live in and that aren’t overcome by climate change and corruption, are we overpopulated then? Would you want to live in the middle of Nebraska? There’s plenty of space out there. We have to stop producing more humans. We’ve reached a crisis point. Please consider a childfree lifestyle. It’s okay if one or two generations need to suffer in their older years in order to get things under control. We can’t just continue producing more people to pay the Social Security of the upcoming generations. That’s ridonckulous. (I say that as a 49-year-old who will retire in 13 years.) And we need to legalize all drugs so that the drug cartels in Central and South America will die out and these people can live in peace in their own lands.

I am Australian. I think you will find this to the common response globally. I would not move to the U.S. if they paid me to for all the reasons already mentioned. I feel sorry for people who live in the U.S. I couldn't imagine having to worry if my children will come home from school or not today. I am a 58 yr old male and I am totally against the government telling a woman what she can and can't do with her body. I could not live in a place where some fellow citizens were bankrupt because they got cancer. All U.S citizens are welcome to move to Australia, just slow down and turn the volume down a bit.

I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. You basically have two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum and that alone, divides people so deep they can’t even be in the same room for more then 10 seconds.\n\n\nI’m Part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Enough said. \n\nI’m well aware that not everyone in the US is like this. But in my eyes, that’s more then enough to deter me. After comparing the following from country to country: Women's reproductive rights. LGBTQ acceptance. Health Care. Gun violence. Overt racism. Criminal misconduct of politicians. Cleanliness of cities. Infrastructure degradation. To name a few. I have to admit Canada is the better choice. We (Canada) are not perfect and have to still work on making our country better for all who live in Canada. I am a 72 year old male and to this day I thank my lucky stars that both sets of my grandparents immigrated to Canada and not the USA. I also know that I am very fortunate to have lived my entire life here in Canada. I have travelled to many places outside of Canada and have always been well received by the people of those countries and appreciate the good reputation we (Canadians) have around the world.

Whenever I see a problem with no end in sight, because the problem is rooted in a different country, I don’t think that the solution is to let everybody in. We don’t need that many undocumented workers in America. This is an infestation of human beings being driven towards us from a country that they can’t even live in because of the violence. That’s not our problem to house people who can’t house themselves because their country is so fucked up. housing them here is a temporary solution. When I was a 20-something year old back in the mid 1980's, I had a blast living in San Pedro, and touring Texas near Galveston on a motorcycle, but now? Sorry man, you couldn't pay me lol. I’m 47 years old, black (Caribbean descent) and have lived in Canada my whole life. I’ve lived in Montreal, Toronto and Calgary and visited all over the country. Have never experienced any racism of any kind. Toronto and Montreal in particular are incredibly diverse. Not sure how you would see any overt racism in those places. I don’t trust this lady’s story at all. Sounds like she’s making it up as she goes along tbh. This is the biggest load of crap I ever heard I live in Edmonton as well I am a nurse and I also have two half black children who both identify as black my daughter is 18 yrs old and has never once in her life received any kind of racism as well I have never received any racism having them. I truly believe it’s her attitude that’s the problem here. When there is issues between people it takes both parties to fix the issue and screaming racism does not fix anything it’s an excuse for behaviour stopping any conflict resolution. I’m 52 years old and have never witnessed outright racism against blacks. Yesterday I went to see a doctor. I have fibromyalgia and can barely walk but I had to cause I don’t have a car atm. The waiting room was PACKED. I asked about seeing a doctor and was told “ he’s not seeing patients today”. I asked “what about all of these people”? She said “they’re all immigrants and he is seeing them”. I’ve lived here my entire life but I guess he wasn’t seeing Canadians. I find the black people that complain and cry racism haven’t done much with their life. I have friends that are VERY SUCCESSFUL black people and they never talk like this. You just wouldn’t not hear it out of their mouths. And they live in Edmonton . Hard working, decent people they are. I’m facing homelessness come July 1. Ain’t nobody coming to save me. Rent increase of $430 dollars will do that tho. Everyone is struggling to some degree. Instead of further dividing us, we should be coming together to come up with solutions to help each other. I assume that there are no homeless people in the US or France...How many thousands and thousands die from drugs in the US and other countries in the world.Yes,the governments should do better and find/build special housing for these people.They should set up special\nclinics in order to detoxify these drug addicts.The problem is that people don't want to have these clinics in their neighbourhood because they are afraid of fights,their houses will go down\nin value and so on.I saw a documentary about the homeless people and I was surprised and not surprised about what they are saying.There is what they call the Old House Brewery in\nMontreal and there are about 50 beds (or more) and the homeless people can sleep,eat and shower.There are a lots of then who refuse to go to this place,some say that so people were\nmaking noises at night and they prefer to sleep under bridges ..Homeless people are everywhere in the world.DON'T FORGET THAT IT 'S ALSO THE JOB OF THE PROVINCES TO FIND\nSHELTERS FOR THESE PEOPLE...
