But one thing I don’t understand , sorry my economics wasn’t good at school , if a country increases tariffs on imports coming to its own people, would it decrease consumer prices to its own people ? Please lecture me here .

So let me make sure I understand! We, the US people, will be paying 25% more for all products coming in from Columbia. No one in Columbia will pay extra. This would essentially slow down products coming in from Columbia or any other country. The US people pay for this. It could or will change the behavior of these countries, but WE pay for this!!!

It kills me that rather than these immigrants get together and stand up in their own countries to make their homelands better they rather come to the United States. The United States have fought wars on our homeland for our freedom and independence for our own ppl. War is bad but why not stay in your own country and fight for your land.

I'm an Indian american immigrant stood in line for over a decade to get USC. We as a country can give up bananas and whatever else comes from these countries, there is enough food here to survive etc, it is matter of month or so before the country realizes they can not survive but USA needs to be cleaned up from illegal immigrants period.

The reporter misdirected the whole story. The story was about tariffs and their effects on both the U.S. consumers and the public as well as the country of Colombia. The story is not about how people planning to come to to the U.S. feel, even though that is of interest. This is an example of how the media and reporters miss the point. Bad journalism.

Colombia did not accept because they were on military planes. If they would have been treated with respect and like human beings and arrive on commercial jets, they would have accepted. Colombia wouldn't pay diddly it would be Americans, period. Tariffs, historically, don't work because the citizens pay them on any goods that come from that country. Colombian coffee is really good btw. We got people with no health coverage, homelessness rising, housing unaffordable to most, on and on, what is this administration doing for that?! If the U.S is going to offer Asylum to some people, require them to do the application process from their own country or else they can't be processed. That will stop them from coming to the Mexican border.

No offense, since I don’t know if you guys drink coffee or not, but You do realize other countries export to the US. Have never heard of Guatemalan, Brazil, Peru, Marrocan, Ethiopia, Belgium, Costa Rican coffee? Arab countries etc. They all make great coffee. Coffee is not only from Colombia. There’s so various countries producing great coffee .\n\nThey all export coffee to the US. Unless you ONLY like Colombian coffee this shouldn’t be a problem. I’m sure this benefits other countries to expand. Each with distinct flavors and aromas. \n\nStarbucks imports coffee from over 30 different countries from Latin America, Africa, Middle East. \n\nIt’s like if Trump puts a 25% tariff on French wine. I love my French wine and it would suck.
