Has everyone forgot that during Trumps first term HE signed the biggest and best trade deal that anyone’s ever seen ( in his words ) with Mexico and Canada? He sat right in front of cameras and did it , and as usual showed off his fantastic signature. THAT trade deal was NEVER changed, even thru the last 4 years administration. But all of a sudden Trump walks in mouthing about it, blaming everyone else for it, and ready to change things? Why? What’s the issue? Let me guess… does he not remember doing that either?

@Tradeau, Stop lecturing us about tariffs and threatening Americans. Your country has high taxes, and before it affects Americans, Canadian citizens will feel the consequences more. Additionally, stop pushing illegal immigrants and fentanyl across the US border. You call it a trade war, but we Americans call it a fair deal. You were well informed about the consequence but you never got serious about the warning. Canada must check strictly shipments from Mexico and China.

Trump is far from a genius. Ukraine president doesn’t want to see his people suffer anymore from a ruthless piece of garbage that invaded his country. canada has no point in putting any more money into their border on the false issue of fentanyl. they should scrap the whole deal, no point in appeasement. it be better to use that money for negotiations later.

While this may not be the desired outcome it's the only one that I see that makes any sense whatsoever it seems that when a solution like this offered so many individuals who have no gravitas in this matter will come back to the same nonsensical bulshit that they're going to stop the flow that is absolutely impossible. However we will continue on that course and we will continue to fail. The Cato Institute was initially funded by the Koch brothers a extremely conservative organization that gets together a group of the brightest and the best in trying to determine what is the best solution.the Koch brothers were the group that invented the tea party I would love for anybody who disagrees with this post. I would like anybody who thinks that this is a far-fetched idea ,all I ask is that if you disagree with the finding that it should be legal with age restrictions if you disagree I would like to hear a solution that you have in mind that you think is better than the Cato Institute finding. Zelensky was willing to pay Trump $500 billion dollars (or 50%) out of Ukraine’s minerals. And was willing to allow Russia to occupy 20% of Ukraine’s territory. Trump and JD Vance are chastising Zelensky when all Zelensky wants in exchange of the mineral and territorial deal is a security guarantee that Putin will stop invading the rest of Ukraine.

What would be interesting to know is how trade between Canada and Europe explodes, Europe would like all the oil and gas and rare earthminerals Canada has, so would China, if for nothing other than to prevent Americas access to it. I think trump and musk think russia will supply rare earth minerals on the cheap, but Russia is about to collapse again and various regions break away as they did last time, but this time is much worse than back then, Russia really could cease to exist and America will not benefit at all, Europe China India Mongolia will benefit. Canada and Mexico are not responsible for the people in the US who chose to use drugs.
