What they should do is hit pause on immigration. I believe they should grandfather in those who arrived prior to a specified year.\n\nI’m sure the majority is ok with immigration. quebec health care system paid for a least invasive radiotherapy in philadelphia for 3 months because it gave my 5 years old nephew a better chance at a normal life had he survived. The parents even receive money to pay for an appartement during treatments because hotels are just too dangerous for these kids. Obviously one of the parent have to leave work to be with the kid so I really don't understand how americans make it! If you leave your job to be with your kid during his treatment don't you loose your insurance for not being employed? That old lady is absolutely and outright lying. First off, she stood in lines for hour or days to get her green card? As FRENCH, I think it is more an issue with policies set by both governments!!! You know you bring students IN and why don’t you build houses and encourage construction???? In France, many students (mainly Africa, and French departments like Guadeloupe, Tahiti or Martinique) come to study there (for free and we are proud of it!!!) BUT - unlike Canada - we do NOT have the same issues as Canada (our healthcare is NOT under pressure and our housing prices haven’t really increased that much as compared to Canada for example!!!) to me, the students are NOT to blame!!! It is the fault of the deciders (at different level) who have FAILED to set the right policies!!!! The schools are also to blame as some (not all) are so obsessed with making profits out of the higher international fees, which by way, subsidize Canadian students!!! So in Canada (not in France or Germany), the money that allows schools to function come from international students who BRING LOTS OF MONEY for the Canadian economy!!!! in France, it is different as the universities are FREE and are fully subsidized by the French government… but yes;) you have to speak French fluently to attend them!!! \nSo dear Canadians, do not blame foreign students thanks to whom your universities thrive and remain existant!!! Without them (namely the Indians too), the Canadian universities will struggle to find money and funding! Remember, the system in France is TOTALLY different!!!!\nAlso, reading from comments, I notice that many here have NEVER alert their own country!!! I've lived here 6 years and can't wait to leave. Salaries are just enough to get by. I work full-time as an analyst and am looking for a minijob just to save money, which I already live quite modestly. It's easy to come across nasty unfriendly people, neighbors, service people, people in government agencies. I hate people staring in the most unfriendly manner or givng attitude for no reason other than they are nasty people. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people as well, but the bad experiences outweigh the good. Beauracracy is overbearing, personalities are underwhelming, the food scene is underwhelming, learning German is a big burden when you work a full-time job (and now I need a minijob too??). The country seems like it wants to diminish the human spirit and ambition. I definitely regret moving here. Many housing companies are over charging rent. I found out the company, Deutschewohnen, who owns my apartment was overcharging me by nearly double!! I had to go through a year long court procession to get them to lower it to the legal price which I won. And now they sent me a letter last month saying they are raising my rent, which is illegal and I have to go through ANOTHER court battle with them. Of course it is exhausting to try and find another apartment. Some people search up to a year. What a joke. And not to mention the dating scene. I've been single the entire 6 years and I'm quite an outgoing, friendly, loveable person. Dating Germans comes with own weird experiences and I refuse to give them a chance anymore, for my own mental health. If you're POC, it's not uncommon to come across strange sexualizations and general lack of understanding other's cultures. A couple years ago I was attacked by 8 men while walking home at night. I ended up in the hosopital and there was an investigation opened. The police asked me why they attacted me, which I didn't know since it was unprovoked. They just followed me for awhile, surrounded me and started beating me. The police said it was probably because I'm Asian. Meanwhile, I'm not even Asian!!! I'm Latino. ??‍♂This is the type of ignorance POC have to deal with in Germany. Also, I only have 1 German friend and all my other friends are immigrants (which I love) but this poses it's own frustrations because many people move here, then move away after a few years when they learn they can have a more fulfilling life elsewhere. So keeping long term day-to-day friends can be a challenge. The entire system is exhausting and there's not enough balance to bring joy to my life to want to stay. When I lived in NYC, an African American aquaintance had just moved there after living in Berlin for 8 years. She warned me not to move here because I will never feel I belong. I didn't listen. That was a big mistake. Germans can have Germany. I'll find my joy elsewhere. End of rant. haha

Like I explained, to those who say this will sour the us and canada's relationship. Americans don't care because even though Canada is less than 50% white, in they minds its still a majority white nation. That's why you don't see the BUILD A WALL etc, like you see with mexico, because even though the majority of immigrants crossing into the us from Mexico, might have been Mexican in the early 2000's, now that's not the case, 300k Colombians in one years, 175k indians, 75k turks, 150k, from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, 500k from Russia and Ukraine since the war began, 200k from ecuador, 75k Chinese per year etc etc. And they scream, build a wall, and make mexico pay for it. I lived in L.A. from 77-78. I was called a “snow back” (opposite wet back) always laughed at my “eh”. Made some great friends, in general I was made aware that I was unwelcome and NOT American. Well thats's expected, Canada has nothing much to be offer except the permanent residence. Quality of our tech education even at top institutions is not top notch. I am in software/machine learning (fancied AI), born Canadian who did bachelor's and master's from University of Waterloo and moved to US for my PhD in 2014. Sorry to break this but even top universities in Canada come nowhere even close to top 20 in US when it comes to American universities. I completed my masters in 2011 and was doin some junk work in Canada as tech industry is light years behind US where all innovations happen. I was literally shocked to see the difference in education and quality of work after coming to US. Canada only wants blue collar workers, realtors and truck drivers.

We Canadians are being invaded by millions of Muslims under the leadership of our dictator Justin Trudeau. Canada is no longer the country I grew up in. Our identity is fading fast, we are a country that harbours terrorists and their supporters, it’s only a matter of time before we have a terrorist attack much larger than we can even imagine. Not only are these new Canadians disrespectful to females but to our land as well, Wasaga beach and elsewhere in Canada it is not uncommon for them to openly defecate. Our Tim Hortons coffee shops used to be a great place, not anymore. Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party did this to us and it may be too late to fix. The Americans have enough problems at their southern border and they should be very careful who they allow in from the northern border. I made a concentrated effort to assimilate into the American culture as quickly as possible and become a productive part of the American culture and it's traditions. Many white South African women also do everything to marry British, Germans, Canadians on purpose (the media never mentions that and we know why) so that they can escape the extreme environment in South Africa!!!! It is just that the media tends to focus on black and brown people as it sells better!!! Ohhh and did you forget those many North Americans who flock to Mexico, and South America to run away from the horrendous cost of living!!!! Same for those many Canadians (a common trend those last years) who start to flock into the US to run away from higher living costs in Canada and for higher paid jobs in the US!!!!
