Factual and overall very true. I was born in east Vancouver in 1951 and worked in the city for 34 years so I feel qualified to support your expose. Friends? Terrible place to meet people in general. It’s a Lower Mainland thing not Canada and not BC. I ask people weekly where they grew up and friendliest people are from small towns or possibly blue collar Vancouverites over 55. Home values and jobs have produced a generation of angry youngsters feeling hopeless.

Canada has always been expensive. I moved here from Texas for my wife. This isn't the same Canada I moved to though. It's far worse. The job market is crap. It's difficult to get a job in your field. It's easy to get useless jobs that have no long term career opportunities. Real estate is atrocious. Ninety year mortgages? That's just crazy. I don't foresee owning a home in Canada. Rent has gotten so high we refuse to move. We need a bigger place, but we can't afford it. The healthcare is not good, and the wait times are ridiculous. I got better healthcare when I paid out of pocket, but under provincial insurance it's pretty bad. It also doesn't have full healthcare like the UK. At least paying for insurance in the States, everything was covered. Wages suck, benefits are generally bad or nonexistent. My wife is finally about ready to get the hell out.

Interesting video - as a Canadian who hasn't lived in the country for nearly 2 decades : ) \n\nWhenever i return to my hometown (Burlington) i do notice an increased foreign population. No wonder, these days there seem to be an increasingly number of Canadian expatriates working in Malaysia, especially in Petaling Jaya & Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps, they choose to come here because cost of living & life in Malaysia in general is still relatively cheaper than, say, Singapore etc. Additionally, the English language is widely spoken in Malaysia. And local folks here have a reputation for being more courteous & friendlier than elsewhere in Asia!

I didn't like the traffic jams, air pollution, the political goondaas, the rapes and killings of innocent girls, the hypocrisy in the general public and leadership, the government red tape, the Prime Minister of a country coming to power on the basis of Digital economy and the entire population running each and every real estate transaction using black money. Accepting too many immigrants in general.

While this is a great thing in general...\nIt doesn't benefit the country or the immigrants when things like housing and jobs and health care aren't in place to support this influx of people. \n\nThe thing is...Canada REFUSES to fix its own problems on its own. If the excuse is don't do this because of health care then when will the right time be? Canada's health care has been at dangerous levels for OVER 30 YEARS! Always working at or near peak with long wait times. Maybe in 30 more years this will be fixed?\n\nHousing is a problem because no one builds affordable housing. The system is fully corrupt. When you hear that 500k houses have been built...then odds are 99% of those were NOT affordable housing. Meanwhile well over 50% of Canadians REQUIRE affordable housing. So how many more years will it take to fix this problem when we're not even trying to address it?

how about giving international students who studied construction, trades, and are employed in these fields a faster way to gain residency, versus those who studied at diploma mills and get unvaluable jobs (e.g. dollar general) afterward shorter work visas

I used to teach and coordinate programs for international nurse, this is spot on - and I have always wondered about Canadian students getting into programs - we need Canadian students who are talented and want to study but cannot afford it. There is so much i could unpack. In general, most of the students are lovely and hard-working, but the intent in most cases is to get a PR status - so most of them stay. Many also are disappointed with Canada - as they may come from a place where they were in a different social class. I know many of my students now are productive members of Canadian society working in their chosen fields. I am proud of them - as the move was not easy and they left their families behind. Considering that most of the world is a collectivist culture versus our individualist culture of the West, there is much to adjust to. Good piece.

There is far too much third world trash in canada. Student visas and immigration in general must be paused until the government balances the budget. I had a house for rent a proper 3 bedroom 1.5 bath semi-detached home in Mississauga where 6 international students wanted to lease the house for 1 year, and I was advised by the City of Mississauga that having unrelated individuals share bedrooms would be considered a rooming house and because I didn't want to risk the wrath of Bonnie Crombie's government fining me I didn't even consider their application. Generally, I would prefer leasing a home out to a family but I was inundated with demand from these students. I don't understand why the Cities won't permit these types of dwellings and why they permit these universities to grow and expand their campuses without ensuring enough housing. I mean Canadians are having a hard time finding homes. The fear as well is letting 5 or 6 students rent your house will turn to 8 or 10 people living there, subsidizing the rent for the original group

If home prices drop because there is more homes being built that gives everyone an advantage. I don't even know what percentage of people own 100% of their home but I don't think it's that many, and that's going to drop significantly as well. I know there's tons of studies done yearly on the effects of stability on children and mental health, good grades, good health. All these things generally improve with safety and stability and it's consistent. If you are someone who can actually afford to buy your own house, you could just buy a cheaper house and invest the rest in something else. It's actually better to have diversity than to sit there hoping no one builds houses so you can maintain some high value property. And this likely will lead to a collapse as well. It's unavoidable in the long term

I live just outside the City in the Oakville area, but have gone to Toronto on numerous occasions. In general, even outside the city, the housing affordability crisis has become insane. I want to get out myself. Unless you have money, or a good job as was said in this video I don't even recommend living near Toronto. It's a beautiful area, but the cost just isnt worth it.

We are US Americans. When our child decided to attend the University of Toronto, out-of-country, 15-some years ago, we researched so much, including the university’s international student pulse. We were horrified to learn the lion’s share of UofT’s international students body intended to use UofT not for a high-caliber education but as a fast-path gateway into the US upon graduation, if not before. International student forum members were quite clear and unapologetic their intentions. In the years since, the US has learned most of these immigrants can’t compete once here and do poorly. The reason is part expectation and part inflated self-assessment — 1. Our urban and suburban housing is just as expensive as Toronto and Vancouver, 2. We don’t have free health care except for the destitute. Even then, it’s minimal, 3. Our ivies and other great universities already supply our best employers, 4. Our academic standards are more rigorous, in most cases, to Canada’s, 5. Our winters are just as cold and snowy, 6. Our summers are so hot, your car and anything in it will melt, and 7. We generally don’t have public transportation except piecemeal in our cities. Further, most of us don’t want Trudeau’s increasingly fascist politics to take hold here, any more than they have already, under Biden.

I lived here since 1961. The biggest negative changes have occurred over the last 25 years. Yes a million condos bringing tons of new city tax revenue (wasted) but so unreasonably expensive, as so many new immigrants naturally flock to Toronto and need housing. Which\nmeans traffic sucks, too many downtown roads closed, unused bike lanes steal car travel lanes. Toronto is generally dirtier and meaner than in 60s, 70s, 80s, even 90s. People are less friendly, less polite, less caring, and reside in self contained cultural enclaves. I used to ride the subway daily till 1990s, but i was shocked by my recent ride, with delays, so overcrowded slow service and bummy looking passengers now, scary. Quite a negative unwelcoming transformation!?

See friends, all the middle class and low class people in the world are suffering from the same problems. First there are no jobs, even if there are jobs they are misbehaved, mistreated, abused or exploited etc. Then what can be the solution for this problems? Majority of the Students coming to Canada , are from Punjab India. There are great Universities and Colleges in Northern India , and India in General , so the fact is , these are not people who are coming here for Study. I couldn't agree with you more. Asking Canadian experience is a scam to deter immigrants obtaining jobs and maintain status quo where immigrants get lower wage and blue color jobs. Therefore I would research to make sure to get in to the skill trades such as IT, Healthcare, Finance such as selling real estate etc,. MBA is a general qualification and chances of entering in to higer paying jobs with an MBA is limited, where as if you're already in a managerial occupation doing MBA will help to climb the ladder. Canada in general has changed, and not for the better in the last 15 years. The cost of living has gone through the roof, and salaries are not any better. This is from the point of view of someone from Montreal, so I cannot even imagine how expensive Toronto and Vancouver must now be.

I also feel that your decision is the right one. When people move to another country they are expected to adapt to the general culture of that place. And Islam is not really compatible with Canadian values. For the sake of your children it will be better to raise them in an Islamic country. To be fair, a lot has changed during and after COVID. It's not only in Toronto or Canada in general. The whole world is experiencing inflation. We have 2 major wars . Crime rate everywhere has gone up too.

It was nice watching your video. You asked for a suggestion. In your case, I think the best place for you to settle down would be Turkey. \nThe main problem you will face there would be the language. I think that is a big problem initially, but it is easy to learn a language, before going to that country. She had this theory about how people behave in the US (and in Canada by extension, from my experience) and how they behave in Germany and in Europe I would say, in general. People in North America are like peaches (soft on the outside but really hard on the inside, meaning that they seem friendly, but when it comes to knowing them better, they don't let too much of their personal life). People in Europe are like coconuts (hard on the outside, but soft on the inside, meaning that they would seem inaccessible at a first glance, but if you spend more time with them, they will become very warm towards you and they can be very loyal friends).
