Some provinces that shall remain nameless like to break contracts with health care professionals, resulting in shortages of certain types of workers. \n\nI live in remote northish parts of my province (not NWT, Yukon, or Nunavut), and 6 years ago I was diagnosed w/ lymphoma. They had me set up to do chemotherapy treatment within 2 weeks. They wanted me to start that weekend, but I needed the time to put my work in order for me to be gone for an extended period, get applications set up for EI/Healthcare claims, and figure out who in my family I wanted to share the information with. \n\nIn Canada you end up waiting for elective surgeries and treatments, because they aren't critical by virtue of being elective. That's about it. If you need an elective and have 10K in your pocket not doing anything, go ahead and go to the states.

Knee surgery comparison is a poor comparison. You chose self inflicted medical down time. The individual requiring knee surgery did not. I was Marine Corps infantry and I remember in 2011 we had to sit for like 3 hours to listen about how gays and shit like that are going to be serving openly. I guarantee most people have met a transgender and didn't even know it. I took a course at work and both instructors had transition from female to male. You would never know unless they told you. Im not sure why people want to fight people being who they want to be. They don't impact anyone eles and just want to live their lives. Stupid how Republicans have made this an issue. I think the trans issue has a lot of complications that really don't need to play out in the military. I accept the body God gave me and I can't imagine what people go through who can't. It's concerning though that while they're fighting their internal fights it may project on to others. Just because this one man didn't doesnt mean everyone is like him. Should be a case by case basis and not a blanket policy.

Just because the guy interviewed here was a good pilot does not mean that all the guys who transition are going to be good soldiers and members of the military. \n\nIf you choose to “transition“ that’s your choice and you should be respected for it, but that does not mean you continue to qualify to participate in certain things like athletics and the military.

There is nothing about not having trans in military not having value. The Navy trans as a woman is not a woman so when did he/she transition, Before or after. She can look female but he is a he with all the advantages of muscle mass. Since he actually passed the physical stuff indicates the maleness prior to transition. I’d like to see the requirements if mental fitness before the transition and after. Beside getting breasts did he go all the way with removing male organs? If not then it’s more a dress up issue.
