The quality of medical care is comparable between the 2 countries, however Americans still have a shorter life expectancy (compared to all other developed nations, not just Canada) because co-pays, deductibles, and insurance premiums keep people from getting earlier diagnosis’ that would save their lives. \n\nI find that Americans see Canadian healthcare through an American lens, thinking that we can only go to certain doctors, cannot get second opinions, or that the medical industry isn’t competitive but none of that is true. Our healthcare allows us to go to go anywhere and to get second opinions if needed. We pay zero out of pocket and never see a bill.

Yup, I'm living for the day when Canada gets past this Liberal/Conservative duarchy that has brought the country to this. (But their big business buddies are doing well, so no problem, right?) If we'd invested in the future (healthcare, livable jobs...), maintained housing as a social good and not a profit-making sector, et cetera, over the past decades this would be one of the best countries in the world. I was born and raised in New York City. But since it became sanctuary city, I don't call it home no more. And I don't have any plans if ever going back there to live. New York City is Gotham city now. Taken over by people who enter our country illegal. It's so sad they are getting free money, rent Medicaid ,food stamps, Have their babies once born they are American citizens I guess they get to stay. I made a concentrated effort to assimilate into the American culture as quickly as possible and become a productive part of the American culture and it's traditions. I embraced my new home but still valued my heritage and what I could contribute to this society - tolerance and patience. I am French (I consider myself very lucky as France is a very stable and prosperous economy) but many French also look for better opportunities abroad, namely in Switzerland (higher salary and better work packages but that influx created a xenophobia against French living in Swiss) and the US (tech jobs mainly, which are better paid than in France)!!! We ALL do it!!! Many white South African women also do everything to marry British, Germans, Canadians on purpose (the media never mentions that and we know why) so that they can escape the extreme environment in South Africa!!!! It is just that the media tends to focus on black and brown people as it sells better!!! Ohhh and did you forget those many North Americans who flock to Mexico, and South America to run away from the horrendous cost of living!!!! Same for those many Canadians (a common trend those last years) who start to flock into the US to run away from higher living costs in Canada and for higher paid jobs in the US!!!! Why do governments always see things 'in hindsight?' Regular everyday, working Americans and Canadians saw it YEARS AGO that this would happen. You can't let the floodgates open to anyone who wants to go to America, Canada, European Countries, without a PLAN in place to address it. There have to be limits, there has to be a PLAN!!!!! There are over 1,000,000 Indians here in America who came here on a tourist or student visa who never went back home once their visa expired. They are living here illegally. Thousands of Indians are flooding across our Southern border into the U.S. They then claim they are persecuted back home in the world’s biggest democracy and apply for political asylum. This is all very dishonest! Indians are coming here for economic reasons. And they have no interest in our American way of life here of freedom and equality. Proof of this is that we are having to pass new laws to prevent Indians from discriminating against their own fellow Indians! Higher caste Indians here are discriminating against the Dalits or so called ‘Untouchables’ who are also here. \n\nStay home! 10y in Germany, naturalized German now. I’ve done my PhD here and I have a great job in an American company. German society is possibly the most unwelcoming in the world, and I’ve lived and worked in 7 countries. Germany needs workers, but Germans hates foreign workers.

The Permanent Residence Visa for skilled immigrants began as a paid residence to help Canada clear its huge debt burden at the time. It was an idea and some politicians said it worked. But taking in the refugees from failed States is another category altogether. Refugees from South American countries, Somalia, Congo, Rwanda, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and recently Ukraine have put another class of social welfare recipients without adequate skills. Then the monthly child benefit encouraged some of these unskilled Immigrants to get more babies. BTW....I lived in Canada for 13 years but returned to Kenya 7 years ago. Also, as you rave and rant against immigrants, remember there are real White Canadians living everywhere in the world some entrepreneurs and some working for NGOs. Canada failed by not making economic decisions about taking in refugees.....it wanted to appear charitable without learning from the past.

I have worked in Australia, Europe - UK and Germany before moving to the US for my master's degree and worked there for many years. Then moved to India and then to Canada. If you are a tech worker, there is no country in the world more accepting than the United States. Period. \nIn US, people respect your talent than what ethnic background or linguistic background you have. People are more tolerant and accepting, and even let you go up the ladder. Thats why many Indian CEO are leaving US companies while Americans don't mind. \nEuropeans and Australians are the most racist people I have encountered, who have little to no empathy even towards highly skilled workers paying heavy tax in their county. \nIt is better to work for your whole life in the United States on work visa, than living in Australia/Europe/Canada as their citizens.

The future is globalization. I have lived in San Francisco Bay area for 40 some years. Every year at this time, hundred of Canadian gooses are flying by with grace. Most of them will leave and some managed to stay with their new families. Human embraces changes will thrive. You are so honest, beautiful and vibrant. I’m a Korean American who has lived here my entire life since birth. I have lived in many other places and the thing about immigrants is they ALWAYS share the same traits wherever they go. \nI live in an affluent area and whenever the immigrants from poor countries come in they all do the same things…throw trash and litter everywhere, the attitude of “I made it just like you therefore I deserved to be treated like a king”..telling them to turn down the music at 2am and not understanding why so instead you are met with argumentative resistance instead of them just saying “hey we’re sorry won’t happen again, we don’t want to be that guy in this neighborhood. Our apologies” but nope. They continue to do it night after night and the audacity to even get angry. The crowding of all of their families in disrepspectful ways such as cutting in line while everyone else is patiently waiting, if there is free samples of food, they will group up and annihilate whatever they are offering not even caring about anyone else but their own. Leaving a very bad image for us East Asians when people from the red flag dragon nation come in droves. Being extremely loud in public while talking about petty nonsensical things most times but they yell and laugh not caring whoever else is around. Even if the room is quiet they have zero situational awareness, never putting things back when they grab them from stores or gym etc. they expect someone to pickup and do this for them. I am a Pharmacist who immigrated to ON, Canada 20 years ago but struggled to qualify as a Pharmacist in Canada due to unrealistic re-qualification requirements set forth by PEBC for Immigrants! But then I was easily able to re-qualify as American Pharmacist and now has been 18 years I had moved over to USA (with family) where we Pharmacists were welcomed with open arms... no looking back. If you want to live on welfare and do politics Canada is for you... not for Medical Professional. I have seen Canada deteriorated with petty Politicians with their shortsighted viewpoints!

My parents were Latvian WWII War Refugees and I've been hearing that IF they were, you can easily get a Passport to live anywhere in the European Union?\n\nAn American YTuber who now lives in Portugal, said this in one of his Videos. Brazil has the cheapest cost of living on the planet, many American citizens are moving there because of this. Brazil is a great option. Furthermore, Brazil has the most beautiful beaches in the world such as Copacabana and Ipanema. If you prefer a colder region more similar to Canada, you have the option of living in the south of Brazil, where Camboriú is located in Santa Catarina. Furthermore, the south of Brazil is very far from Vladimir Putin and China the two worst things in the world nowadays.

I love Canada. But I have told my kids to see a living elsewhere. It’s not a change of political party will fix the place…there are some structural issues from all levels of government to large businesses and schools…etc that are really f’d up in Canada. Canadians don’t know if they should be more American or European…they are kind of stuck. The government has grown to be a major employer and the most significant company is Shopify. Alberta is most prosperous province that wouldn’t even be in the top 20 American states.

Same story, also moved to Canada(French Canada!!! :D) when I was 4, I'm 32, been in Canada like 24 years. Easy fit, my Dad was Canadian, so got Naturalized easily. I left Canada at the end of 2020. Mostly because of Covid/Work Opportunities in engineering. Now living in the USA with my Canadian Wife and visiting Canada 2 months every year, also happen to be born American, so again, easy(easier**, still hard) move for me. Currently working in engineering, less travel experience, but I did get to visit or work for long period of time in 5 countries. Anyway, I do have similar opinion, I think the solution is a federal housing initiative. We NEED to build north and have more cities than Toronto,Montreal & Vancouver. It would reduce rent & mortgage by a lot. Essentially solving the ''where are we going to put all those immigrants issue'', then secondly, we need to encourage entrepreneurship and business a lot more. We need more jobs and be less reliant on our USA neighbors or EU neighbors 3. Better transport, surprisingly a lot of Canadian don't visit all other Canadian province and prefer traveling out , hell, I want nothern Canada & Nothern Quebec to be more like Alaska, or make it easier from someone from Quebec to move to Alberta, but still easy enough to visit family and friends in their home state in under 3 hours. ;)

When Europeans were busy with wars, creation of fuss & mess in muslim countries these immigrants had no option other than migration but now Britishers & Americans are confident that they hv enough occupied territories in arab & asia , therefore they are trying to send bak refugees to make them the fuel to the firs of terrisom. It's all fine and well that you want to leave Canada but where will you go that's any better? After all it is your choice. The problems we see happening around the world are a global problem. There are at least 2 major wars going on. Inflation is rampant in most countries in the world and we ARE heading for a global economic depression that will dwarf anything that we've seen in the 1930's. Speaking for myself my roots are here in Canada which is not the Canada I grew up in anymore. Sadly. Used to be a really great place to live until Trudeau and his band of thieves ruined it. I may as well make my last stand here. If I was going to move where would I go. The EU? Absolutely not! They're tanking. America? No effing way! The American empire is collapsing. Along with the FED note. South America? Don't think so. Most S. American countries are iffy at best. Australia? No. They're nuts. New Zealand? No. They're struggling badly and people are leaving there in droves. Africa? No way in hell. So that doesn't leave very much. Antarctica? Little on the cold side. Few amenities. ;) May as well stay where I am and take my chances. Better the devil I know than the one I don't. If you're serious about moving out of Canada be sure to do your due diligence and research about your target country. Grass always looks greener on the other side but many times isn't once you get there. One place that I AM attracted to is the Azores. Beautiful place. Friendly people. Good climate. One drawback is that I don't speak Portuguese. And I would have to be independently wealthy. After a certain amount of time out of the country I would lose my Canadian pension. It's said that where we are is where we're supposed to be. I may as well take my chances, make the best of a crappy situation and stay here. There really is no better or worse place than Canada. The majority of the countries in the world are struggling with their own problems. I'm not willing to jump from the frying pan into the fire. One of the biggest reasons I want to stay in Canada is that if it does come to a nuclear shooting war it would be very unlikely that Canada would be attacked. So here I'll stay. For better or worse. The LIberals won't be in power forever and if people have the smallest amount of sense, so few will vote for them in the next election that the Liberals will lose party status. I fervently hope that happens. ;)

I worked for a Canadian company for 25 years living in the USA, California / Silicon Valley specifically and spent days in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver - great place but probably has been run-down by wrong Government policies just like the USA - first blame is always on immigrants even though majority of them (especially in the USA) do jobs that Americans or Canadians do not want to do - farm work, construction work and services while 50% do get proper education and find good jobs and build up the community\nPolitics in the USA and Canada has gone so bad in recent years almost everyone is thinking of moving back to native country or find other affordable places - easier decision at the age of 33 but not 66\nWherever you go, I am guessing it will be around Bali, good luck and may you have all the success you strive for and deserve!

Hello Alina, I have been to Toronto in 2007, and I can honestly say, I did not like it. I have my cousin in Vancouver, and after staying there for so long. Has decided to come back to Perth. If I was a young guy, Thailand would be my choice to live. I have just come back from Koh Samui, After spending 8 nights on that beautiful Island. I have met a lot of people from all walks of life. There are lots of people setling in Thailand today. Americans, English, Swedish, people from Switzerland, Holland, Austria, Norway and so on. I had the pleasure of seeing Lilly, her husband Wat, and her gorgeous 3 kids, her nanny, and her son. The food is so cheap, everybody smiles. Not like here in Perth. The weather was exceptionally beautiful. It rained mainly at night, and once during the day. Alina, whatever you decide to do. Do it wisely. I wish you all the best. Your main aim is to be happy. One true answer: the bureaucracy and descrimination are intense and unecessary. I am an American, I have been living in Germany for 11 years. I have a wonderful German husband and two kids born here. I speak C1 level German and I am integrated. I am fully trained high school teacher. I am in a 'high needs field' which is special education. Does the system here need me? Yes.(especially beacause I am living a in a high needs, urban area) Does the system want me? No. You are consistently told you are not enough.

As an American watching this I see many parallels. Lack of affordable housing, taxation … getting started in life after university is a shock. Especially if you aren’t used to the struggle of day to day living. There is global competition for skilled labor so expect it to be challenging. \n\nAs an aside the host seems to speak perfect American. Sorry England! ?. It seems more common now that Germans don’t necessarily have an English accent like they used to. Just an observation I find interesting.

I find it hard to believe that these migrants are having an easier time getting into Canada than the US. I've been to Canada 6 times as an American tourist and except for my recent trip up there to see the eclipse, the officers always asked at least 4 questions about my trip and plans like where I'm staying and one time how much money I had. One time when I went they did that 'secondary inspection' where they look through my luggage and enquire about items (in my case several electronics which most people travel with). These people who are going to Canada probably have enough money for a typical weeklong trip and probably have hotel reservations, etc. Other things immigration officers ask often is what kind of work you do and when you are due to report back to work, as well as who you live with. They want to be sure you have ties back home.
