Yeah once recent immgrants have slept outside the shelter referral center for a couple of months they quickly learn that the government does not care about them. It has no ability to accommodate them and has no interest in supporting those with no jobs and no skills and barely able to speak english. I was born and raised here. I am doing my exit plan as I cannot afford to live here as young-adult living on my own. The government knew exactly what they were doing when they allowed 9 million people to come here in a short amount of time. The government officials have many many many rental properties that each minister owns and rent out to immigrants and locals for very high prices. All they care about is money and it's a form of corruption that is so very very brutal. Canada is full of propaganda. I can't stand Canada anymore.

No surprise there, \n\nCanada is NOT attractive to migrants anymore due to multiple reasons.\n\nSoon a 1 bedroom apartment will probably cost 5000$/month for rent in the Major Cities making it impossible to settle here for newcomers.\n\nThe healthcare system has serious problems due to a lack of Doctors and Nurses who left for better paying jobs in US or Europe.\n\nIf you need immediate Specialist care you will probably have to pay hundreds of dollars just to see someone in the Private sector because the Public Health System has huge waiting lists and is understaffed.\n\nYou won’t be able to get a Government Family Doctor because the remaining ones have thousands of patients already so they’re swamped.\n\nYou can wait even 10 years for a Family Doctor and still won’t get one.\n\nYou can’t be bumped up on waiting lists for Doctors or Specialists even if you are in a critical condition because you aren’t a Celebrity / Politician / Millionaire.\n\nOnly those with a lot of money, status, power get immediate medical attention in case of an emergency.\n\nMost of the traditional medical costs like and eye exam, treating an ingrown toe nail, Physiatrie treatment are NOT covered by the Provinces anymore so you will have to pay out of pocket hundreds of dollars again.\n\nSome Provinces are already copying the US healthcare system which is 100% Private and for profit so don’t be surprised if you you’re gonna have to pay even for an infusion.\n\nThe minimum wage is only 15$/hour in most provinces when in reality you need at least 40$/hour to survive the ridiculous cost of living.\n\nYour typical salary will go 45% to taxes and 45% to rent leaving almost nothing for food / bills / gas / insurance etc. \n\nYou will struggle to make ends meet and possibly starve a week or two every month just to say that you’re “Canadian” \n\nThat is the sad reality but Canada is in a deep hole right now.\n\nUK is in a similar situation too.

Government only care for asylum/refugee, recently govt funded $362 million for housing for asylum as they are in hotels and government shelters but what about citizens who pays taxes

I hope they pass the word around so we get fewer illegals and economic migrants. Canada has to get its house in order for its own people not for all the people coming without being properly vetted according to our “not so good” immigration Law. Our country has many serious problems to address and fix i.e., health care, military funding, police funding, housing, affordable food. We need our borders strengthened and we need a government that puts the citizens first, not a government leader who with his every off the wall action makes us look an easy touch for the criminal element roaming the world. An excellent example of that is the horror story that is New York City.

As a person living for around twenty years in Canada, the real problem is too much supply of human resources from outside Canada especially from India. This is around 35% and trying to concentrate in certain areas of Canada. This has caused too much burden on Health care, Transportation, housing, and other public services in those areas. Unlike the time I migrated to Canada, all places are now overcrowded. There are not enough job opportunities due to the large influx of students. Thousands of applicants for one job from the day they arrive here. You can get some idea of how many applied on the job site Indeed. This has resulted in companies and job agencies exploiting students by paying low wages and firing them indiscriminately. Therefore, both the Canadian government and the Indian government have a role to play and Students too should be aware of the real situation here.

Tent cities are springing up everywhere becuas housing is so expensive and the government doesn’t give a hoot\nHealth care is a disaster with ER wait times hours and hours long.

Re Indian students as a former teacher I have to also say that many Indian students coning here are lacking the basics. I also found that students educated in US states like Florida and Texas were around two grades behind. Many Indian studenrs here have high expectations but poor background and inadequate English language skills. It is a shame that people are getting into Canada with false documentation and credentials. Also they are enrolling in very dubious schools and it is no surprise that they find life here very difficult. Hopefully the Canadian government will take greater care to see that only suitable candidates are allowed to come to Canada as students. Also students from other countries should avoid coming here if they don't really have sufficient skills and should make sure that they are choosing reputable educational institutions. There are lots of private institutions with fancy names. Don't be fooled.

Lucky you , you have the means to get out & adventure. Canada isn’t that bad compare to other poor countries. However, everything you said are very true. Rules Rules & Rules , tax after tax after tax that’s why health care isn’t really free. And you forgot one important thing, tho you’re successful during your prime age career wise, when you’re 65 & retired, ( without Private Pension ) government pension isn’t enough even to rent a decent bachelor apartment of your own. over loaded heath care and support system the fact the government could care less about the bill they are creating the lack of good paying jobs as the government shuts down oil projects at every turn and god help the car industry with these idiots at the table - the NAFT just oh sure well just let you gut it - yes its a paradise of high rent low income and socialists on the rise not to mention protests on the rise as well as homeless - as to racism im going to say its done by all groups on a level just whites are less likely to report it, I've been harassed by an Indian police officer waiting on a street car, been told i cant date a woman i worked with she must date a good Indian boy (who she married and he abused her) had black guy harass me and my date she was African pretty much every time we went out, and while dating a Latino i had 6 guys stand in my way blocking me from going in the hall telling me I was not welcome as it was a community event. none of which i reported and that just me so stats just show whos will to do paper work - over all while ive seen plenty of open racism and hatred in the US, here id say its more mild intolerance to indifference and even thats going away

Our government gave up on us. Instead of taking care of their country, They gave things they could have gave to their country to another country's people to help them survive here. We cannot afford rent, food or life. Forget about our futures right CANADA ?

I'm an immigrant and my immigrant friends and I were talking about exactly this just the other day. I'd like to add some context on why so few international students stay: they can't. Schools prey on this very fact. In international recruiting, these schools use the promise of thriving local industries and trot out graduates working locally as major draws to these expensive programs. Then once students are in Canada, many of these schools couldn't care less: they offer little or sometimes no housing support, no immigration advice (or in my case and many of my friends' cases: they give straight-up false immigration advice that can screw you over or even get you in trouble). There absolutely needs to be regulation and accountability for these predatory schools; I think a good starting point would be capping the number of visas they can apply for based on the number of housing units available (either on-campus or via local development subsidy and homestays). Tons of students come to Canada completely unprepared due to false promises made by these schools, and then get spit out into an egregiously inefficient and broken work visa system.\nMy immigrant friends and I are all highly skilled in our specific field. There are only a handful of people in the world (let alone in Canada) who can do what I do at the level I do it, so I would be incredibly difficult to replace if I left Canada. Despite that, and despite being Canadian-educated (Canadian resources invested in me that you'd want to keep in Canada), remaining in Canada has been a massive struggle for me and my friends. We individually spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars every year to apply for permits that have to be renewed annually, but take the government 6+ months to process. Because the government is so backed up, we have to apply for *extra* permits to bridge that gap (more money, and more work added to IRCC's already-long line of applications). I'm in limbo for the majority of the year where I can't switch employers, can't leave the country, etc. It's horrible. \nBut I have it better than most. Of the international students in my year, only I and one other student are still in Canada because the transition to work permits is so needlessly long and difficult. Even a graduate who does manage to get a work permit might have to sit unemployed for 6 months or more before that permit is active. How is a student supposed to survive without work for that long? In order for employers to even apply to sponsor a graduate, they often have to do a lengthy labor market impact assessment, and so these graduates are stuck in a holding pattern, and they're the lucky ones. Immigration is absolutely vital to Canada and I hate how quickly these stories turn to xenophobic rhetoric, but we have to make space in the conversation to take a look at how schools are exploiting students and policy loopholes, and why they're doing it, and address those problems. The current system isn't fair to anyone.

Canada is built on false promises to lure in immigrants to have them work for cheaper while ignoring it's own citizens. If there was more of an effort on infrastructure and technology Canada could have been similarly valued to the states but treadeu ruined all major relationships and is a laughing stock globally it's very clear no world leader even respects the guy and hurts canadas trading potential massively along with how we're viewed. Canada tried way to hard to be it's own thing and different which also helped shoot the country in the foot. The government is extremely corrupt outright denys separate parties from speaking, underhanded tactics to win elections, control over media. Canada is a first world country but a declining one at that and if something doesn't change it will easily become an impoverished country where we will only be used to have our resourced sucked dry and sold to other countries to profit off while the elite remain powerful in Canada. Canada is seriously wasted potential. Canada should have high speed rails that connect the major cities but doesn't, we don't have actually good energy infrastructure due to projects being abandoned under trudeau that would bring a lot of money back. I used to love this country but as it is now I despise it because it's become crushing to live here as a bachelor making 32k and renting

One has to assume that we have smart people behind the scenes that have been looking at this issues at length. They have either warned the government, and they ignored it, or there is something else at work. Perhaps the government KNOWS they will cause a housing crisis, and it's BY DESIGN!!! They do not care about Canadians at all, they only care about the already wealthy, protecting, or even gaining from the high inflation the KNEW WAS COMING. Every single working staff including receptionist in my condo was fired and replaced by Indians in past year or so. Its sad to see that the government just doesn't care about well being of its own citizens.

Shame on current Govt that it took so long and now housing industry, price gauging and illegal basements in Garages should be fixed by local governments. I have filed numerous complaints with the City of Mayors office here in Surrey, BC but no one really cares.

At some point, we need to say no more we are full because we can’t even take care of our own citizens. Our healthcare system is overstrained, and the government cuts the budget. Our education system is horrible and the government cuts the budget instead of excepting more immigrant students, and more people that we have to support taxpayer money. Because these immigrants are not rich, you’re not coming over here with a bunch of money most of them are given accommodating housing that born citizen don’t even get for seven years. If I wanna get on the rent to geard income house have to wait 7 to 10 years, but if I was born somewhere else, they would just give it to me as soon as I get here so maybe instead of focussing on immigrants, let’s focus on people who are born in this country by, I don’t know stop cutting medical and education spending

it shouldn't even be a question. we are accepting way too many. it would not be a problem if we spent the last decade or two focusing on improving health care, expanding transportation and infrastructure, attracting jobs, building homes and so on. unfortunately we didn't do that sufficiently. we haven't even started to see the implications of this yet. in 5-10 years time the situation for everyone is going to be more dire than it has been in the last 1-2 years. we are in for very rough times all because we have an addiction to electing utterly useless governments no matter which side of the ideological aisle they sit on. if you think there's a lack of housing, not enough doctors, overcrowded transit systems etc now, it'll be a shock in years time. even if we started to improve these things now, it is not going to keep up to the demand

I agree with your assertions. Things have gotten much worse in the last 5 years or so. Letting in immigrants with no place to live is a federal government fiasco among many other issues like health care funding etc. I love Toronto and I will always live in the GTA!

I moved to Mexico & everything about my life is better not to mention the weather and the people here are friendlier & generous, the sense of history, culture & architecture is incredible so many different climates to explore. Healthcare can be free or there is different levels of private care & they currently have a government that is truly democratic & investing in the country & its people. I haven’t been affected by the violence English media loves to focus on & suspect a lot of the problems stem from USA meddling

The government need that .they give international student's work until 40hours .some factories workers they don't speak English or French. Local language. enough is enough .but ithink the government like that , they don't care. Loops is happy.

This present government makeing great mistake to bring huge amount of international students specially from south Asian poor country Reuther then rich country. More than 25% disappeared from the institute other 35 to 40 %study on line without attending in institute start looking job to manage their expenses and tuition fee and sending money to their parents in back home. Government need to thing very carefully to stop this type loophole before bringing international students in this country. This is malticultureal country bringing from all over world as a same ratio not specific few countries. Students work permit must be stop on mater any argument or requist ,questions . The infrastructure across Canada is not in place to handle a large influx of population. The health care and education systems and housing across the country are underfunded and the federal gov. which rakes in 86% of tax revenues is not giving the provinces their fair share and expects them to keep the infrastructure functioning effectively anyway. The universities are using international students to make up the deficit caused by the lack of funding and help form the federal government. In the process the Canadian students are being shafted because they pay less tuition even though their parents are still paying for most of the upkeep of the institutions of higher learning.

Anyone with the means is planning an exit from Canada. The great nation it once was has been ruined by the liberal virus. I’ve made my exit, but will still be voting for Pierre who will finally defund the propaganda wing of the liberal government…the cbc. If you actually care about Canada and plan a future there, you’d better be voting conservative.

I work for the BC provincial government, and part of my job is to hunt for homes to house women who are escaping violence. After spending 3 months searching for homes in Surrey, I've seen anywhere between 10-22 individuals living in a modest sized home. These homes are often very well run-down, have poor plumbing, and many illegal suites, and I've literally seen people sleeping in closets. Landlords can get away with this because the students from India don't care, don't have a choice, or are used to this standard. What the federal government is doing is unbelievable, allowing many people into the country. Just because international students come from places where they can sleep on top of each other doesn't mean they should allow it to happen here, reducing the living standards for everyday tax-paying Canadians. Despicable.

It is these universities and colleges that need to be held responsible. I'm happy the federal government is stepping in on this. The provincial govt doesn't seem to care about people.

All our government cares about is to milk the poor international students regardless how it affects the students and the locals.

Almost a million foreign students allowed in country of 34 M people ! Mind boggling to say the least. Why is this problem happening ? Obviously, the minister Trudeau installed to run this, is incompetent, of low ID, or doesn’t care. Don’t blame the schools. Those who run these schools are like us, human beings, being thirsty for “money” is nothing out of the ordinary ! Getting $10K/yr. for a domestic student + subsidy fr. government of say another $10K, is about a third of a foreign student has to pay. Do the math ! Don’t blame them, blame incompetency of people Trudeau put in charge of it.

I am Chinese ethnic was born in Höng Kong but moved to Singapore in 1984. \nAt that time I could have migrated to Canada or Australia. I am an electrical engineer with a master’s degree and have worked in the States for some time before moving to Singapore. I could have settled in the States as well if I really wanted to. But having studied and worked in the States for some time, I realised it’s not my place. Culture difference, racial discrimination, political ideology to name just a few. So I moved to Singapore which had a job for me. I have no regrets. The country has a very efficient government, housing, medical, education needs are pretty well taken care of, not perfect but good compared to many developed countries. Crime rate is among the lowest. I believe If you have the talents you can try to apply for immigration here. Also Höng Kong which has a similar standard of living is also offering good opportunities to world talents to settle over there.
