I am Proud to be a citizen of the USA. I seem to remember this man stealing money from truckers bank accounts and acting like an actual dictator during covid. Trump is only doing what he campaigned on and got elected with a majority on. Makes you think.

Go Canada!!! ???\nWe betrayed, and backstabbed, and lied about, europeans stand by Canada. ????????????????️?️?️♥️♥️♥️???️?️?️?️?????????? \nWe love Canada. You have the moral compass Americans seem to have lost. I hope they wake up and stand up for themselves. ?️?️?️\nAllies dont lie about eachother, allies dont betray allies, allies dont side with the agressor, allies work together, allies dont dehumanize their allies. \nWhat America is doing to Americans is not ok. \nThey deserve healthcare, education, social security, the truth, not to become isolated and hated ect.

What a difference crossing a border makes eh? On one side reasonable Canada, on the other an unhinged spray tan and his VP wreaking havoc globally for what seems like no reason but ideology. Respect Canada, shame on you America.

Maybe instead of canada becoming our fifty first state we need to join canada and their provadvances seems like a better idea

It seems sad that it took an action such as the one the US government had to do, to make Canada realize that we should work together as provinces and as people. Canada knew very well that our big brother in the south has been fiscally hurting since years and had been racking up enormous government, corporate and private citizen debt. If this were to continue it would pull down every single country in the world. Perhaps if the US is becoming fiscally responsible, truly eliminate fraudulent and unnecessary spending and refocus on their local economy (just like China has been doing in the last years) the rest of the world and even Canada can finally focus on their strength and local markets. After all, don't we all miss our local stores, local artisans, vibrant neighborhoods with diverse businesses and a pride in having made in our own country? May I say that this Trump era will give the whole planet a new perspective for changing our ways, reliance on others and taking the easy and greedy road!

My grandfather fought in world war II and he told me never trust a Russian, Canada will trade with the European Union while America seems to want to trade with Russia and Ally with Russia, \ngood luck with that. Let me know how it works out ?

These guys in charge seem to think this is one big game and we are all impacted directly and most harshly for no benefit whatsoever. Madness. Ego gets in the way of diplomacy. The human race is strongest when working together. Nobody achieves anything alone. ?

Trump is shameful his dosen't even care about the American people here. It seems like his doing this for Putin l don't know if it true. His acts like Immature bully, but that doesn't make him a strong leader weak instead.

As a Canadian, I'm fearful what's in store for us and our friends in America. Seems the governments of both countries always have their hands in both people's pockets.

Seems like the US administration's tactic so far is to piss off as many countries as possible. Except for Russia. Russia's ok apparently.

I love Canada and I love all of the Canadian people as an American I feel really bad for you guys because you’re going through what we went through in the Biden administration. It’s gonna get worse until it gets better but it’s up to all of you Canadians to vote the right way next time you need a real man who has power And can deal with your country and puts it first and the citizens first this guy showed up in a Barbie premiere movie wearing the pink outfit that says enough. Trump knows that he needs to go it almost seems like he’s gonna get rid of all the weak leaders so we can have a power for world and bring world Peace. Pray for you guys it will get better but you need to vote him out?

I'm an American, embarrassed of the actions and behavior of my fellow Americans and their leaders of the MAGA party/cult. I sincerely apologize for these idiots I seem to be surrounded by.

Why did I support Trump? Damn what a mistake, he's obviously a Putin puppet, he doesn't care about the working class, he only cares about the rich. He seems to be trying to destroy America purposely.\nI am a two war veteran and I stand with Canada and Ukraine.

As an American, I'm disgusted with these tariffs. Trump is definitely doing the WRONG thing here. We should be working with Canada and Mexico, not against them. It seems like Trump wants to be Putin's little Bitch.

Despite:
\n
\n- Releasing felons and undermining the justice system,
\n- Picking fights with every U.S. ally,
\n- Suggesting NATO can no longer rely on America a direct gift to Russia’s strategic goals,
\n- Dismantling government institutions, weakening internal stability,
\n- Defying the rule of law and disregarding the separation of powers,
\n- Appointing loyalists to key positions, consolidating control,
\n- Leaving the U.S. vulnerable to Russian cyberattacks by scaling back security efforts,
\n- Siding with adversarial nations like Russia while alienating traditional allies,
\n- Smearing a democratically elected president at war pushing for a regime change that favors Russia,
\n- And systematically weakening global alliances, fracturing Western unity to Russia’s benefit,
\n- Ignoring the growing threat of Chinese expansion, weakening the U.S. position in global power struggles,
\n- Encouraging political violence and extremism, further fracturing the social fabric and putting democracy itself at risk,
\n- Turning a blind eye to the economic crisis, with inflation, rising debt, and an unstable market exacerbated by reckless economic policies,
\n- Chipping away at civil liberties, normalizing authoritarian behavior, and restricting freedom of speech.
\n
\nTrump is still your president.
\nAnd what does the U.S. have to show for it?
\n
\n- No strengthened alliances.
\n- No economic gains.
\n- No enhanced national security.
\n- No diplomatic victories.
\n- No solid foundation for the future just a nation divided, with its core values slowly eroding.
\n
\nEvery move seems to serve Russia’s interests while leaving America weaker, more isolated, and more divided.
\nAnd yet, there are no mass protests, no storming of the Capitol, no widespread political fallout. The U.S. hasn’t fallen in a blaze. It’s crumbling quietly, a victim of divide and conquer.

Like him or not, Trudeau is just and right. Trump seem like a spoiled 6th grader. The whole world (minus dictators) sees Canada as strong and intelligent. Trump is weak.

Why don’t Canadians like Trudeau? He seems awesome in this speech

Canadian here too. Thank most of you americans for this outpouring of support, and seems many from both sides of the aisle. \n\nFor my part? I do believe you have a russian asset as president now. Even the freaking Russians just came out and said US policy is now aligning with Russias own. Hes abandoning an ally in Ukraine unless Ukraine gives an unconditional surrender to a guy who says he is not interested in any deals, and broke his OWN TRADE AGREEMENT stopping just short of actual war with Canada and Mexico. Our own PM as you hear, says Trumps goal is to destroy our economy and annex this country. \n\nYou have a russian asset in the seat folks. \n\nDo something about it.

Trump placing tariffs on allies and loosening sanctions on Russia almost seems like Trump wants to us to do business with Russia. Boycott any company that normalizes business with Russia

Seems like trump wants to destroy America. Prepare for a long and difficult recession.

This American did not vote for tariffs, Elon, Project 2025, Trump or their gross abuse of power. Thankfully, I seem to still be in the majority here.

Canadian here- I hate Trudeau just as much as most Canadians, and as it seems most Republican Americans do as well. But I fully stand behind him at this hour. He might have shit the bed for most Canadians during his time as PM, but when it mattered he has stood up for Canada. Review the facts and educate yourself on the current situation between CAN and the US. I will be the first to admit, Canada has not done enough in terms of its own security and military, but these failures should not be the decay in our friendship as nations. The US DOES NOT subsidize Canada, it DOES NOT give money to Canada. In simple terms- the larger country, with the largest economy in the world (USA) buys more from its Northern brother, which produces vast amounts of natural resources which the larger southern country requires. As for the booing seen at most recent sports events in Canada, that is directed at the President, not the average American. I myself would never boo a national anthem, an anthem that millions have sacrificed to protect and defend. But I understand the pain and anger that is coming from my country. We have always been allies, friends, and to most even family. I do hope that in the future our relationship can heal and move forward but the current actions being taken by the American admistration are horrendus and upsetting to most of the world outside of the US. I wish us all the best in the future, be nice to one another, and always remember that the US and Canada have fought, spilled blood, and died alongside one another in the fight for democracy and freedom around the world.

Clearly American leadership seems to think that it can stand alone.....
|

It doesnt make sense . Donald trump is crazy. Mentally challenged. But honestly , it seems like he is wanting to do all he can for Russia. He wants Russia as an ally, not the countries we have always aligned with so trying to reason with him will not be affective.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Who pays for the retaliatory tariffs? Is it Canadians? Who pays for Trump's tariffs ? Is it Americans? Kinda seems like he's saying if you dont stop hurting your citizens, I'll start hurting my citizens too.
|

Dumbest trade policy ever or malicious intent? Trump seems more focused on making Russia great again and golfing than anything else.

You mention that Americans are 30% more expensive than Canadians but you dont mention that the US is far more unequal with a Gini coefficient of 0.41 vs 0.35 in Canada. Now there is also a known issue with using GDP data to calculate productivity and that is that in sme countries the labor of GDP is much lower than in others. You then end up with Irish productivity being the second highest in the world only because most large US corporations operating in the EU register there to pay lower taxes but most of that revenue is just on paper for Ireland. or with Guyana whose oil and mining revenue makes it productivity equal to that of the US. Maybe that is the case, but is it? and if so why is the average wage in Guyana so much lower? so choosing only one specific stat can make any point of view seem true. you have to look at the bigger picture.\nnow the issue is Canada has been getting more unequal but it is still much better than the US. so what it means is that the higher worker productivity in the US benefits corporations and billionaires far more than it benefits the average American. now if we compare cost of living say between NYC and Toronto:\nCost of Living in Toronto is 37.5% lower than in New York, NY (without rent)
\nCost of Living Including Rent in Toronto is 47.1% lower than in New York, NY
\nRent Prices in Toronto are 59.2% lower than in New York, NY
\nRestaurant Prices in Toronto are 34.5% lower than in New York, NY
\nGroceries Prices in Toronto are 33.0% lower than in New York, NY
\nLocal Purchasing Power in Toronto is 7.2% higher than in New York, NY \nand this is similar when comparing almost all large Canadian cities with a comparable US one. And whilst housing and NIMBYIsm is real issue you have very similar issues in the US which also has almost no mix zoning. But throw in safety nets and go ask Canadians if they want to change for the US system. I doubt most will. Sure some want things to change but some assuming everyone wants an ultra capitalistic society. most are ok with less growth ut better balanced growth (the exact opposite of the boom and bust US model)

Seems like Australia has the same issues as Australia. Investment went into non-productive housing by giving generous tax deductions, instead of business investment which would provide for ongoing prosperity.

The combination of brain drain and immigration seems likely to turn the country into one vast slum, especially if America expels its own unwanted immigrants.
|
| 2025-03-03 | 0 |
So, in what areas is Australia different to Canada?\nAnd, can someone please explain to me the determinant nature of any person in moving the dial on GDP. I get the part of GDP per person; I don’t get the part about an individual. It seems to me that organisations and bureaucracies are the key drivers of efficiency and productivity. I’m not a economist, as demonstrated

We just had an election in Ontario and basically nothing changed. Ontario has been one of the worst performing provinces in Canada for the majority of Doug Ford's mandate over Ontario but people seemingly don't care enough to want change. One of the major problems with Canada in terms of politics is that the aging population has some of the largest block of voters and can pretty much overrule anything that would benefit the younger generation if it would hurt their investments.

As a Canadian, I am more afraid of the people than their healthcare system. And I am chronically ill and would be homeless in America. You seem pretty cool, but living in a place where children have to train for school shootings. I heard they cant even wear light up shoes for their own saftey. Just their hate of immigrants and people in general. Its not the first time that I have heard an American say they want to shoot down all the aliens. Also, wtf! We know you live in America. You dont need to have a flag every 2 meters. ????? even on your clothes. We get it! You're American! I feel like you guys get super offended by everything.

It seems like inviting foreign investment in your real estate pretty much always ends badly, OR it ends badly so often that if you think you’re the one country who won’t get took: you’re probably one of them many who gets took.

Unfortunately half the population seems to not care about the situation Canada is in as it relates to the past decade and they only think about Trump now

Slowing down productivity seems to ruin countries productivity. How would've thought??? Aggressive investment in it can be hard to keep up with over the long term. How can countries find a balance?

If my country doesn't get housing costs under control they're in serious trouble. The average house in the town I live in is something like 900K and there's basically no local economy. With costs so high I can't afford to start a family. If we keep gaining old folks needing healthcare while keeping housing expenses high and wages low taxes will have to keep going up.\n\nI am not going to continue to pay huge portions of my income for the benefit of the elderly while I can't afford a decent lifestyle. I don't want to but it seems moving to the US or elsewhere is the only option if things continue this way. At list point the local governments are so invested in denying housing permits and abusing zoning laws to prevent housing being built that the only way to fix it would be to strip the provinces and cities of the right to decide their own zoning bylaws. \n\nI want to see a change in the constitution that makes zoning bylaws illegal. There are too many people thinking of their self interest and not of the Nations interest. We deserve to lose the right to decide what can be built in our neighborhoods. We have been abusing this right for too long

It has problems though Canada seems overall a much nicer country than America.\n\nI think after say you reach a gdp of 30k per capita, maybe more gdp per capita alone doesn't improve your quality of life that much.\n\nThings like low crime, social services, etc seem to be much more important.
