One thing to take note of is that amongst the UK US Canada Australia. The UK is the most visa friendly among all of them. Why is it that most people especially nigerians and other african countries are going to the UK than USA and Canada.. getting a visa to USA and Canada is not easy due to their foreign policy, and visa policy as well. Unless you're from a country their government really like then they give it to you without stress. The UK is more lenient with visa acceptance and of which that can change at anytime if they decide to review their policy.

In my opinion, if not just because of long time waiting for ILR and housing issues in UK, I will always prefer UK to Canada. Canada will give you easy PR but even with the PR, it will still take many years to achieve your dream in your profession. UK ILR takes time but within those times you must have achieved what you want. Some people that relocated to UK as ordinary carer have become registered nurses even before they get their ILR. UK needs patience and at last you will be glad. The issue is that many people want it so fast. They prefer getting PR faster than growing in their profession. That's why they prefer Canada.

The UK is pretty much like Canada, now. There is only room for the 5% who are rich (the capitalists & rentiers) and the 35% of people on Benefits (the 35% of population who live off welfare paid for by the State using the hard-working tax payer's money). The honest, hard-working middle-class (about 50 to 60% of society) are absolutely screwed and doomed, because all they can now do is keep working their guts out till they drop dead, and never hope to have a decent life. The culture of state-funded Welfare has now gotten so bad that I now live in a street where some 30% of the people who live off Welfare have been given State funded houses, and those houses which are bigger and better than mine (all paid for using my tax money). And I have slogged my entire life (I am 65 now) to pay off a large mortgage on a house that eventually has lower value than the houses that people on Welfare are given on the same Street! Worse still, now that I am approaching the stage where I might need to go into a Care Home, my house (which I worked for my entire life to attain) will have to be sold off to pay for my Care Home costs. While my neighbours who never worked a single day in their life (and whose life was subsidized using my tax money) will again get free state-funded Care Home facility too! It utterly beggars belief. \n\nWhen state-funded Welfare gets to a point that doing an honest day's work actually penalizes you, because all you are doing is funding the lifestyles of the other half of society who wish to sponge off State Welfare (due to the high taxes the Government is forced to impose on the working middle-class to support the 35% on State benefits), then that society can never prosper, firstly because it removes the motivation to work hard, and secondly because some day the Government will run out of money to continuing funding the lavish lifestyles of people on State Welfare. And that is very much now the state of affairs in countries like Canada, the UK, and much of EU. It is an unsustainable model. \n\nBy contrast, in countries like the US, China, India, etc. there is a much greater correlation between hard work and reward. Choosing to not go to work and sponging off Governmental welfare is simply not an option. And that is precisely why countries like these will continue to prosper in the coming years - because they have some form of Meritocracy. Unfortunately, I think countries like the UK, Canada, and most western EU countries are looking at a downward spiral, and there are no easy solutions, because their Welfare model has already created these huge segments of society which depend on it and will not allow it to be demolished - but the day is fast approaching where they will all soon run out of money to continue funding it (most of these countries are already facing huge Debt-GDP ratios, and there is no conceivable way of them coming out of it).

The trouble with Canada is that no political party is capable of simultaneously gaining power while also making the difficult structural changes that would make the country more competitive. Successive governments have pandered to the needs of baby boomers protecting their housing wealth, to the detriment of literally everyone else. Young Canadians head south where they can make 2x more money, knowing they can always come back when they are rich. It’s a terrible predicament with no easy solution.

I will say I have been lucky in Calgary (moved to Alberta in 2011; became perm res in 2018) with my healthcare. I have a great liver specialist and family doctor as well as a backup. I just fell and cut the back of my head Monday (2 staples but nicely done; I do not feel any pain). I know that is not common for people. I think some of it is timing based on the comments. It will only get better if we quit USing it (i.e. politicizing it). As an ex-pat watching that dumpster fire, moving to Canada in 2010 (first year in YVR) was the right step for me (however, that said, being that I am plain white looking male, I know that made it so easy at least until I applied for Perm Res. Born and raised Cdn and every point you raise is valid IMO and experience. I love my country however, it is hard to get ahead, we work too much, and cost of living is so expensive. The reason why Canada is wonderful for those who stay is A) Charter of Rights and Freedoms - we are protected by laws and citizens enjoy legal, justice, policing and gvmt services that help protect quality of life. B) it is a safe country primarily and not easy to reach for insurgents, terrorist attacks and political anarchy etc. C) We have so much land and space for people to decide where they want to live - density is not high so you can have space. D) it is a beautiful country with awe inspiring nature. E) we do have one of the best immigrant populations and that is our crown. Being diverse is a blessing so if you are atheist, Christian, Muslim etc doesn't matter - you can enjoy freedom to worship as you wish. And F) Healthcare could improve but, the quality of care is world class and speaking as a breast cancer survivor who's treatment ran $120k (diagnostics, chemo, surgery, radiation, med professionals, rehab and drug therapies) we have access to that care whereas in other countries you may not.

I have mixed feelings about this. I feel like a total first letter of the alphabet-hole for not thinking of helping right away. When I lived in San Diego, it was a palpable daily reminder. Lots of people have cross-border lives. Family, work, home is on either side of the border. Now living up in Washington State, it's different. Here the border with Canada is all about preventing Canadians from stealing technology from us while allowing them to work for us. Some partners who come visit us often times get searched for technology. Like pen drives, samples, etc. It's a totally different story. Canada probably has less homeless than all of south America. In south America, you just need to eat and not get eaten by things. So the result is that people survive way below the poverty line. I wanna give my two cents as a Jamaican who lived in Canada,Germany and the us for me i wanna see the us is better interms of making money. It's better to get around , open business, hustle it's have that go-getter capitalistic mentality, Canada and Germany are similar. In Germany its haaaard to get anything done and bureaucracy will end you. Canada is a bit better and less bureaucratic. The us is a play ground filled with variety of everything and did I mention how easy it is to make money. Canada and Germany habe similar health system but in Germany things get done quickly, the us system is good if you have money. Racism is in all three but Germany and Canada are kinda not in your face, Americans will be in your face though, to me i prefer the america racism at least i know who to be aware of but in CA and ger you don't know who your enemies are because they will smile with you while not liking you. For kids it's like this , i would raise my kid in Germany because they have the kids are so well mannered and well behaved but i will let them experience american high school . Canada is waaay more peaceful , Germany cleaner. The bottom line is if you are a young ambitious Person the us is for you, but to retire I'll choose Canada but let my kids grow in Germany.

I moved to Canada in 2012. I used to love Canada as even with $11 per hour job was more than enough to survive (during studies, part time job). I used to live happy life. But, since Liberal government was elected in 2015, things are going crap. Just between 2016 when I signed lease of 1+1 apartment for 1140$, in 2019 it was getting rented for $2400. Prices went up for house and lots of things. Liberals had messed up affordability that most people in Toronto region are living paycheque to paycheque. On top of it Carbon tax in hide of saving environment which literally not working out, is killing Canadians. \n\nAfter living in Canada for 11 years, I don’t see this country has any good future overall. Our banking to technology sector everything is outdated. World is moving so fast, Canada is not able to catch up. I am looking for easy was to get green card of USA, the country which I hated, it seems USA is far better. I have many relatives in USA, I asked around and it broke lots of my stereotypes about USA which I had developed living in Canada and from Canadians. Even met few people who lived in Canada for 10-15 years and moved to USA and living there for last 5-10 years. Worst decision of my life was choosing Canada in 2012 for easy immigration. My classmates who chose USA and moved there in 2012 are in much better position career wise as well salary wise and they files are also in progress. Living lavish life with great weather, while Canada is depressive as hell.
