Its corporate greed which has trickled down into all areas of life. Rents, property values etc etc. No government can fix it in a democracy because capitalism gives greed the platform. Record profits during covid says it all. Recessions give a partial temporary reboot and depressions are devastating and take a long time to recoup from. I live in a rural small town, retired, own my house and debt free . Low property tax and affordable housing and rents but in the Maritimes. Cities are the worst to survive in. I feel for all that are struggling but Canada is a great country and better than most but one must be willing to relocate to areas that they can afford to live in and still have steady work.

But what about the highly trained doctors, engineers, and CEOs who got their IIT/AIIMS education using Indian taxpayers' money, only to flee abroad for better salaries? There's difference between US and India immigration laws. In India opposition party states provide them with legal documents and make them their vote bank. When governments don't care about their own people.

If your country is bad enough to make you want to flee, why do so? Every country has had to struggle. Even here in the US horrible things have happened to it's citizens. You cannot run from your problems. They must be solved, one way or another. The US had a civil war. It was horrible, though you could argue the outcome was good. If you live in a country, you have a duty to be a part of that country. Whether that means voting, partaking in social norms, etc., you are a part of that. It is not another country's problem if that turns out being bad. If the majority of a country installs or allows in one way or another a horrible governing party or group to run things, it is their fault and theirs alone. Like sticking your hand into a hot pan, there are consequences. This will get bad before it gets good. Hopefully it ends good.

At this point - Feb 2025- a lot of condos have been built in Toronto and guess what, nobody is buying!! The economy dipped with the pandemic as it happened in many other countries! When I immigrated to Canada - and I had nothing then, it was impossible to even think of buying a house, under a Conservative government. About 10 years later I was able to purchase my first home and am doing well, thank you. So are the builders in this beautiful province, close friends with the premier.
