I've lived here 6 years and can't wait to leave. Salaries are just enough to get by. I work full-time as an analyst and am looking for a minijob just to save money, which I already live quite modestly. It's easy to come across nasty unfriendly people, neighbors, service people, people in government agencies. I hate people staring in the most unfriendly manner or givng attitude for no reason other than they are nasty people. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people as well, but the bad experiences outweigh the good. Beauracracy is overbearing, personalities are underwhelming, the food scene is underwhelming, learning German is a big burden when you work a full-time job (and now I need a minijob too??). The country seems like it wants to diminish the human spirit and ambition. I definitely regret moving here. Many housing companies are over charging rent. I found out the company, Deutschewohnen, who owns my apartment was overcharging me by nearly double!! I had to go through a year long court procession to get them to lower it to the legal price which I won. And now they sent me a letter last month saying they are raising my rent, which is illegal and I have to go through ANOTHER court battle with them. Of course it is exhausting to try and find another apartment. Some people search up to a year. What a joke. And not to mention the dating scene. I've been single the entire 6 years and I'm quite an outgoing, friendly, loveable person. Dating Germans comes with own weird experiences and I refuse to give them a chance anymore, for my own mental health. If you're POC, it's not uncommon to come across strange sexualizations and general lack of understanding other's cultures. A couple years ago I was attacked by 8 men while walking home at night. I ended up in the hosopital and there was an investigation opened. The police asked me why they attacted me, which I didn't know since it was unprovoked. They just followed me for awhile, surrounded me and started beating me. The police said it was probably because I'm Asian. Meanwhile, I'm not even Asian!!! I'm Latino. ??‍♂This is the type of ignorance POC have to deal with in Germany. Also, I only have 1 German friend and all my other friends are immigrants (which I love) but this poses it's own frustrations because many people move here, then move away after a few years when they learn they can have a more fulfilling life elsewhere. So keeping long term day-to-day friends can be a challenge. The entire system is exhausting and there's not enough balance to bring joy to my life to want to stay. When I lived in NYC, an African American aquaintance had just moved there after living in Berlin for 8 years. She warned me not to move here because I will never feel I belong. I didn't listen. That was a big mistake. Germans can have Germany. I'll find my joy elsewhere. End of rant. haha

And I hope they cap the number of visas per country to 25,000 per year max. Doesn't matter if there is family members or more skilled workers from one particular country it is not fair or moral. We build this country. Now immigrants get to arrive here, take what we built for granted and most of the time just change everything to suit their culture. This is a real issue. If I went to India to live there I would never do such a thing. When you immigrate, you accept the local culture as the main one. Its called compromising. You immigrate for the benefits but also you accept the downsides.

I live in Atlantic Canada and we normally have moderate Winters. We don't usually even have snow for Christmas. Winter normally starts in January. I have only had to shovel twice the last two Winters. Last Winter, it mostly rained because the temperature was usually too warm to snow. Still chilly, not many freezing days. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, we would wear a snowsuit for Halloween because it was so cold. Now, you are as likely to see kids wearing shorts. \n\nIt still would be cold for someone coming from a hot country, but someone from Iceland would probably find it mild.

She is not wrong fully, I have met good sofesticated indians living in Canada and they say that people coming from mostly Punjab and Haryana have made a havoc in Canada. They are too loud, dirty and filthy. There is a big safety concers for Canadians and even Indian origin canadians in Canada. Even our people who have gone there to work legally say that they don't want any indian in Canada. I am living in Europe and I see the same thing. People from our country just don't have any civic sense, they are mostly very dirty and because of them, many people find it difficult to find a apartment. A Ukrainian immigrant here. Absolutely in love with beautiful canadian nature, cute little houses, especially townhouses in toronto, just so wholesome. As for life, you gotta be some sort of specialist like a doctor, or a proper construction worker, or a truck driver to have a decent life that goes beyond just getting by and eking out an existence. On my own i can make enough money for food and rent, but thats about it, and im happy about it, really, i get to be alive thanks to canada, but i really hope i could move out of here as soon as it becomes safe, or just move to a cheaper country thats a decent distance away from russia. I ended up being unemployed and i do feel like im in quite a real danger on eventually becoming homeless if i dont manage to procure a job, and you know how the job market is now. As for health care, i simply dont have access to it, at least i dont have a family doctor and have been trying for a while to get one. I haven't tried walking ins yet since i prioritize food over health now but i might someday. I just hope that whatever sickness bugs me is minor, i cant do anything about it. My teeth hurt too, but i cant afford a dentist, and ive found one Clinique in toronto that helps immigrants fix their teeth for cheap, they can help you with three teeth in total, and i've used up one of it, and saving the rest for real emergencies. I cant eat anything except for real soft food, and i know im not gonna get any help i could afford any time soon.\nOnce i get a job i will be saving as much money as i can to leave Canada, i don't know where yet but i'm doing my research and hopefully will find a place, and if not well, sucks to suck. It's hard for everybody out there, i'm just one of the millions if not billions who go through that.\n\nAlso I don’t think ‘nobody wants to live in Canada’ is entirely accurate. Canada is still better than India in many aspects, more safe for women, healthcare is free, clean country with low pollution, lots of beautiful parks, most people are tolerant, crime rate is low, multicultural, standard of living is high, Canadian passport allows you to travel easily, gov pension, lots of opportunities, i was able to change my career at 50 and became a private investigator, i was born and raised in India.

Indian in Canada is the result of the policy of Canadian government. They are legally entering the countries attracted by better living standard offered to them by Canadian government and that everyone in the planet has similar desire to improve one's living. I do not think blaming all the problem to the Indians is justified. In fact, we should mainly blame the Canadian politician and the ones who voted them into office.

I am an EU citizen, moved initially from Romania to Czech republic, where I was for 2 years and then last year I decided to give Germany a try. Given that the SW engineering field that I am part of allows me to live comfortably in most EU countries, I am planning to relocate back to CZ or Romania within max 2 years. I was pretty much shocked to find out that compared to the costs, the salary isn't all that great vs living in a bigger Romanian city and that it's a complete downgrade vs Czech Republic, and I'm saying this as someone who lived in Prague of all places. \nOverall, salary aside, everything has been a downgrade for me vs Romania and significantly worse vs Czech Republic. \nI guess nationalist germans will be happy to hear this, one less immigrant willing to stay here and convincing others at the same skill tier to try any other EU country(minus bulgaria and austria).

Canada is sadly just way too expensive. The problem with living in Asian countries are many and it's more related to nepotism in the workplace. Steer totally clear of Australia, it's a huge mess now. Hyper expensive and becoming a dumping ground for all sorts of blow ins.

For licensed doctors I would think that the 4 years would be a snap if you already know the material but beside that , if they went back because they could work in their field in there home country then why did they come here in the first place. Obviously it wasn't violence or fear for their lives.\n If they come here and enjoy the first years but then the reality kicks in when the benefits stop that they may have to work for minimum wage and they now know that a person making minimum wage in Canada is makes you homeless, can't afford a car or the gas, insurance and can only buy food , that they realize that they were better off where they were. It;s time our government informed these people of the harsh reality of how our governments have allowed our once great country to become place where it;s citizens suffer under these financially inadequate conditions that are only made worse by immigration numbers that far exceed our ability to house them. Maybe have them try to support themselves on the income they would get here while they are still in their country, or if it made a condition that our government must prove that they can sustain themselves with minimum wage before they can immigrate then immigration would be denied because heaven help them if minimum wage isn't enough because welfare/odsp is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

And what about the forced refugees that were told to leave the area while they attempted to delete Israel? It has been like 50 years, and those people still live in refugee camps, and those Arab countries have not bothered to give them any protection within their lands.

Basically, they're selling the lie that life will be much better for immigrants in Canada to get cheap labor (and votes). But when the immigrants do go to Canada and see that the cost of living there is actually much higher than in the countries which they came from, they end up leaving. Climate aside, yes, IMHO as an Italian who lived in both countries.

I lived in Canada for half of my life and now live in the US. I have travelled around the world and the same issues Canada has are worldwide. Taxes, increase in prices (groceries, gas etc), homelessness are world wide issues. \nSocialized medicine what was once thought to be the greatest is disappointing at best. Long wait times,lack of doctors in rural communities and poor pay for many doctors are having them head state side. \n\nI hope you find your next country and it works out. Canada will always be home and you can always come back.

I don't know of a country that quotes your salary after tax because it depends on many factors. One should also remember that taxes cover much of the safety nets you may depend upon at some point in your life - unlike many other countries such as the US.\nThe Canadian government already can supply your income documents that you can download and even supply tax software for you to use.\nThankfully there is indeed a difference in culture between US and Canada - who would seriously like living in a country where guns are everywhere causing more than two mass shootings per day.

I am from the Balkans. I have been studying, living and working abroad since I was 18. Germany was the 7th country I moved to and the first country ever I felt unwelcomed at work- because of my Balkan origins. I must say I was rather shocked because being a very open, international professional with lots of experience, I thought something of this kind would never be even imaginable. However, outside of my work field I gained many german friends pretty quickly - friends for life ( no competition here, haha). 10 years later, I am still here and the situation changed to better - a lot. A mix of getting trust, learning the language, and getting more international colleagues. I am totally thankful to the health system - they saved my life. If I stayed in my country, I would have had serious health issues. I am thankful to the democracy, freedom of expressing, schooling system( so much better than in my times in Yugoslavia), salaries, and many other things Germany gave me. I am living a good life, best life any of my family members had in generations. I would like to stay here as long as it feels good for me and my family. Having a german father to my kids is however the strongest link to me feeling home in Germany -having a local within your family makes it all a lot easier.
