I wonder who this move helped? All of the inspector generals who were looking ok not the scam artist and corporate welfare wuuen Elon Musk. \n\nI was just hearing that gas prices are going up a dollar at least tomorrow, so you had better go and fill up. it's about all any of us can do at this juncture, is my guess. The tariffs are a tax on all of us, plus the oil we used to get from Canada is now going to China or Europe. I'd tend to say you all should be thanking a Republican. This was an impressive speech and chilling to the bone. People should understand the undertone that this already is the first stage of a war. It seems sad that it took an action such as the one the US government had to do, to make Canada realize that we should work together as provinces and as people. For days, they’ve been misleading the public with talk of imposing tariffs on U.S. goods or cutting power supply, but that’s not the real issue. \n \nWhat truly matters is how our government is actively mitigating the economic impact. Are they securing new markets? Have they repaired strained relations with China, which were damaged in 2021 over the arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou to appease the U.S.? Are we expanding oil exports to Japan, India, or China? Have we dispatched trade delegations worldwide to open new opportunities? \n \nWrong move. Canada doesn't have a functioning government. There is no mandate. The Prime Minister has resigned. Parliament is not in session. There is no reason to escalate. The focus should be on finding a solution the root cause of why the tariff was put in place over the border and fentanyl. \n \nIf not, then all these moves by Ford or Trudeau are meaningless—just political maneuvering to distract Canadians from the real problem.

The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security.
