Good job Justin. There's nothing else you could have said or done. The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security. It's hard to parse the provocation from the US as anything less than a pretext to eventually try and annexe Canada. Maybe Russia will attack the Baltics at the same time. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the US Government is no longer a friend to the free world.

What Trump wants is to eliminate the income tax on billionaires and compensate for that loss of tax revenue through the taxes paid by the middle class: tariffs. Thus the Ultra-rich become richer and the people become poorer (the tariff is paid by the importer of Mexican, Canadian, Chinese or European products)... good job, American voter!?

The reality is: the US has reached a record high trade deficit with Canada. This deficit has grown steadily since 1976 (today it is just shy of $100 billion - meaning the US purchases $100 billion more worth of goods from Canada than Canada does from the US). The US imposing tariffs on Canada is a tactic to incentivize US companies who import goods from Canada to move manufacturing/production sourcing back to American soil. This promotes investment and expansion into the US economy. It will also incentivize Canada to commit to investing in the US economy. This would be a negotiation move by Trudeau: we (Canada) will commit to purchasing $25 billion (for example) dollars more of goods from the US if you agree to reduce the tariffs you've imposed on us to blank (maybe 5%). This is likely the end goal Trump is aiming for in the long run.

As An American whose ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War, I am infuriated by the Russian puppet in our White House, and I hope that after we rid ourselves of the vile criminal Trump, we can restore our long happy friendship with our good neighbors in Canada. Please fight for democracy and stand with Ukraine.

It takes a special kind of stupid to support these tariffs. It's pretty much just Trump and one other non-expert on economics that claim they're a good idea.

Trump confuses power with ability to create. He grossly overestimates himself as a dealmaker and is weakening America like few before him. He can't handle the economy, he can't handle diplomacy, he can't handle security, he can't handle the common good at all. He is a moral and ethical disaster. The world is recognizing it. Why do Americans still believe him when you can watch him fail live?
