Too bad the damn Republicants want the problem more than the solution.

Cost of living has gone up due to immigration, plain and simple. The increased market demand from immigrants is not being met by the supply, which means the market inflates. This is economy 101. If there is something people want (housing), the more people who want it and the less of it there is, the more it will cost. Immigration is *dircetly* affecting the housing crisis in an objectively negative way. *Acknowledge it.*\n\nIf you *don't* think that bringing *500,000* new people into the country *every year* is going to further inflate the market then you are delusional. There is not only already too many people in this country for the government and market to handle, but the government's solution is to bring in even more! *They are literally exacerbating the problem before our very eyes.*

Leave Canada and don't look back ! Emigrate from Canada to an Arabic nation, is best solution for all the Muslims. Thank you !
|
| 2024-01-30 | 0 |
He completely eliminated any chance of her question to be answered in a way that promotes a positive outcome for the Palestinian people that might bring a solution using the help of other Arabs to help their fellow Muslims in their time of need. They just sit back and watch as Israelis are forced to provide food, water, fuel, etc. He is a hypocrite. Everyone knows Arabs don’t get along with other Arabs. So let them laugh at Israel now. It’s only a matter of time before the whole world knows who will be “saved” and who will not. Amen ?

Who on Earth would want to live here? We are such a depressing and failing culture and society. We have placed ourselves in a situation where nothing properly can grow here. Canada will get far more depressing over the next decades. I tell people all the time don't come here, you'll pay more than money for coming here. And I tell people, who are able, to leave. Find a better place to call home. Canada can't be home to people. Not with how we are easily dislodged, displaced and how everything around us is on fire and burning down. \n\nDon't come to Canada unless you're suicidal and want to die, or you happen to be super rich and you can make it. \n\nCanada will be losing many many Canadians in the future. Whether it's people leaving the country, whether it's people returning to their old countries, or whether it's people killing themselves off desperately trying to find solutions to problems. \n\nPlease don't come here people. \n\nCanada is a horrible place to live. And if I could leave here, I would. But alas I'm a very poor Canadian. So that leaves me with options of suicide later in life, at least Canada is getting programs together for that and the options become more accessible every passing year. If we are going to make a country filled with shit, we at least need to give options to people to leave instead of holding them to a slave system that goes nowhere.

Again I never heard of the solution DORMSSSSSS! Canada dont need too many small colleges, just few in strategic areas where everyone will have access. These schools, they can accept international student but!!! They should have capacity to accommodate like having a dorrrmmmmm for the school. Im mad about this bc in SKorea, where I exchage, they have dorms, here in Canada, you have to find it yourself. We also get our food in the cafeteria which is healthier and have mang options. That 2 alone are solutions itself. You have your money, you refrain us from affecting your inflation so much, we are comfortable and safe and can build better community and many new friends while studying here. The rent could also be used by the schools for scholarship to locals than the rent going to the hands of greedy real estate investors. And now the Canadians are blaming us alone for the housing market? Blame the greedy government and schools!

Only solution is to build more houses

OK hear me out, I’m a Jewish American but I have always been quite critical of Israel especially in the last 3 decades under the Likud government it’s nationalism and imperialism, with regard to its settlements and attitudes to Palestine. That said… Every time we’re close to creating good world sympathy for a Palestinian state, the power-hungry radicals of the Palestinian people always somehow ruin the progress, taking advantage of a power vacuum, and it’s stirring up the people once again that Israel Has to be destroyed off the face of the map. Then on top of that, during peaceful times with momentum for a two state solution, something always ruins it, in this case it was Hamas, seizing power over Gaza with the statement that Israel needed to be destroyed. Then Israel made sanctions to try to make that government fail, but, of course, as we know, it only starved the people and made them angrier and then they did this awful, unspeakable, brutal attack. Hamas is still attacking to this day. If Hamas wants to cease fire, they need to also stop attacking Israel and come to the table and come up with a two states solution and accept Israel. Israel is of course going too far as they often do but it’s a tough call as to what Israel should really be doing right now, while their constantly under attack and threat from their neighbors in a very active way every day.

The answer to all these problems, is that you Canadians might be too naive, stupid or both, to never be able to, or dare to admit, that the problem is; Justin Trudeau!
\nThe solution to all your problems, is to get him removed from all power, arrested and deported to North-Korea for treason.
\nAs we, from the outside of Canada, can see, is that you must hate yourself, election after election, because you still elect people like the Trudeau's or some other idiot, who continue to ruin your country.
\nAll I can say is; Good luck! You'll need it!

Simple solution: only allow international student to study in Quebec and they have to get their education in French

International students are helping the economy overall. Housing should be addressed so the solution to regulate the entry of new students in the next three yeara must be considered while the government is fixing the housing concern.
|
| 2024-01-21 | 0 |
Canada was built by immigrants no doubt. When Canadians are unwilling to do the low pay hard labour, and give birth to kids, there has to be immigrants to fill the gap. Housing crisis is the elephant in the room, it has been around for quite a while. Remember one decade ago in Vancouver #donthaveonrmillion? Its worse now. International students became easy solution/target for politicians to blame because they cannot vote. They were considered as solution of labour shortage back during Covid then there was a labour shortage. Sean Fraser the minister of immigration back then made it super easy for international students to stay in Canada permanently. When he takes the office of Minister of Housing, he starts to point fingers to those students. Who let them into this country in the first place? We need more roads more houses. IRCC needs to work faster to get more skilled workers doctors into the country. Putting a cap on current immigration level is not a good idea.

CBC very pro-Trudeau government media. According to this video, blame is on provincial governments for housing and students crisis. Federal government working on solutions “sources tell” ?

The problem with academia is that leadership doesn't plan for long term future, all plans whether for growth or downsize are short term solutions that inevitably create unwanted outcomes in the long run... Have seen it in so many places and on so many issues :((

I agree with what he said, that is part of Solving this Crisis that was initially initiated by an Invasion and Occupancy of Established Palestinian Lands. With a History of Past occupancy of many Different kinds of Entities and People! Dating back to before The Byzantine Era and before Helen of Troy established Christianity in Aelia Capitalina, now Jerusalem! By replacing a temple to Venus with The church of the sepulchre at the now temple mount. The United Nations NEEDS to ensemble a Peace Keeping Force and Guard themselves, then move into Gaza long term. In order to establish Humanitarian Relief Operations that are Effective to The Reestablishment of The Palestinian People & Palestine!!! AND to keep this conflict and Destruction of Civilization from spreading any further to other Countries, and to Israeli occupied territories!!! Then A Two State Solution kan be Fully Established with the Peaceful parts of The Israeli People for themselves. Through the Kadima Party, and Not further the Destroying of People and Civilizations by The Likud Party and Others...

If there is a problem with the abuse of visas, maybe fix the immigration system then? Slicing student visas would only be a temporary and band-aid solution no?
|
| 2024-01-20 | 0 |
Ultimately, this is just a symptom of years or incompetence from the liberals and conservatives. \n\nIt's a shame we don't have an actual political party interested in bettering not just the country but, the people living here as well. These types of discussion just draw attention from actual solutions and are designed to cause controversy

I think one solution to the international student housing crisis that can alleviate its effect on the broader housing crisis is to mandate that the school build dorms for international students. Fanshawe College for example has like 2 or 3 dorm buildings, but like 80 percent of its students are international. So if that school or any other wants to bring in that many international students, and charge them 8 X what we pay then make the schools use that money to build dorms for the students. \n\nEither the schools will build th the dorms, and the problem will be alleviated, or the school that don't want to build or purchase student housing will have to stop bringing in more students than they can house.

Blaming provinces was the best solution this government found for this issue. But they forget that ultimately it's them issuing the students visas, the PRs and the citizenships.
|
| 2024-01-20 | 0 |
You think they’ll just cut off 20 billion dollars of their income? Ontario makes 2Billion and according to CBC that’s more than what the govt allocates to them. Haha. Jokes. I came here as a PR and I feel like the solution is to put a cap on the number of students, increase ielts cut off and give each province a number of max students allowed.

There is one easy solution. Colleges must provide affordable housing for same amount of enrolled students. They will build new houses faster than you ever seem
|
| 2024-01-20 | 0 |
Solution is simple. Let Universities house their international students in student housing. Thats your cap. If they dont want to build student housing for their money tree puppy mill, dont let them have the international students.
|
| 2024-01-19 | 0 |
The solution is simple arithmetic and some common sense.
|
| 2024-01-19 | 0 |
There's a simple solution here, force the schools to provide sufficient housing to whomever of their students that wants it. This is absolutely solvable if they want it to be, and they shouldn't be competing with low-income folks for family housing. \n\nAlso, those second tier schools should only provide classes that match up with Canada's needs in terms of trained workers
|
| 2024-01-19 | 0 |
There are solutions but too much red tape… use tiny homes. There’s a lot of green-space on many campuses. Just think smaller, students only need a warm place and a bed. No need to build condo buildings that won’t be finished until five years from now
|

If this question is now being covered by major media outlets, then the answer is obviously yes \n\nFurthermore to say that international students are “saving this country”, I find completely disrespectful to people who actually hold Canadian citizenship or were born here, people here would be having kids and increasing the population, if there wasn’t such an extensive cost to live our lives here, which international students are definitely contributing to the problem of\n\nFurthermore the idea of building quicker is completely ridiculous, that route has been tried to be tackled for years now and it’s just not working, the simple solution is to stop immigration for a couple years, it’s the simplest solution and by far the one that would be the most effective, but yet this country absolutely refuses to pull the trigger on it, insanity and denial is what this country is constantly dealing with
|
| 2024-01-19 | 0 |
There absolutely can be a single, top down solution.\nIt would be painful.\nAnd constitutional.\nProhibit further investment in property beyond primary residences for the time that time itself requires to reduce home values by 30%, install an oversight body that could be diverted from obviously bloated police forces nationwide, bolster their budget for that job alone, when it's done and time has done its job, revoke the prohibition and return the staff to their former or equitable positions.
|
| 2024-01-19 | 2 |
Here is an easy solution, that will get rid of diploma mills, limit the number of international students to a ratio of domestic students and then put in a minimum threshold. For example, Minimum of 10k domestic students before you can accept international applicants, then limit the applicants to up to only 5% of the total students, this cap increases for schools that have more domestic students. Therefore, legitimate university can still attract legitimate international talent. Diploma mills that no domestic Canadian student goes to can't even open up to scam international students. Easy fix government will never do it.
|
| 2024-01-19 | 4 |
Why is the solution building a house per student? Why not invest more in student housing like dorms that can cater thousands of students with a fraction of the land space. Students resorting to living in actual houses or apartments, have to live with like 12 other people to afford rent which is much worse conditions than living in a simple dorm.

Stay strong my sister. We give thanks for your blessings: Your initial shared accommodation; being able to sponsor your family to join; your course entry, polite people in your area and on the bus; your opportunity to exercise daily through walking and your continued faith. My thoughts are with you concerning your headache as an occasional migraine sufferer myself. There are many triggers for painful headaches that do not appear to go away; here are a few you may want to look into: Atmospheric pressure (heavy rain , thunder storms); Fluorescent lighting ( this took years to discover); Dehydration (It is recommended to add some salt to your water -too help retain some water in body); excessive light from computer screens & phones ( you may want to adjust your display in the computer/iPad accessibility suit); Sinus congestion; Stress from possible overthinking & worry; hypertension; dietary intolerances (BBQ sauce, strawberries, & dairy were mine); Too much salt intake in food e.g. Maggi cubes and added table salt; Tension in shoulders, etc. \n\nIn addition to above suggestions you may wish to soak your feet in water in the evening, I add Epson salt and oil of my choice lavender etc.\n and eye glasses prescription review.\nDeep tissue massages or reflexology once a month etc.\nYou may wish to keep a journal of your headaches to help you monitor triggers and not effective relief solutions;\nAnd Food prep in advance to save some cooking time.\n\nAll the best. Kenyah

See friends, all the middle class and low class people in the world are suffering from the same problems. First there are no jobs, even if there are jobs they are misbehaved, mistreated, abused or exploited etc. Then what can be the solution for this problems? This is our common problem wherever we are living in. Just comparatively, some places are better but we don't have easy access to that special place. I think we can't escape this. There are always Big Brother and Subaltern in the world. I think there is no democracy where the voice is heard and justice, security in general, job after education, implementation of law, equitable social life is guaranteed in practice. The powerful dominates everywhere in the Nature. This law is applicable forever because there can be no complete ideal world. But we can just minimize if we involve in politics everywhere.

I'm Rosemary from China, living in Shanghai We've been experience for 3 years covid on and off. Lasy year almost everyone hoped to have a recovering expectation, but actually it's not at all. Many companies reduced their cost by cuting headcounts or lay-off more employees or just post fake hiring posts, actually they just did this for refill the vancancy more effeciently when someone quit their jobs.20% unemployment rate between 16-20 years old. We had anther ridiculous unspoken rules, if your age is over 35years, especially for females, you almost ingores by the job market or public service opportuniies therefore totally unemployment rate is a huge number that the gov chose not to tell the public. I waitnessed my downstairs small busness owners opened a small resaurant and shut down just for running it for one month There's no support or any help for the g\nIt's real hard to survive in China as a Chinese If I go back to my hometown, I also face the truth that there's no job for me as English major. I'll get slammed for this, but, look, history is history and you can't change it. Back in the mid-20th century, the peoples of central Africa and North Africa fought ferocious guerrilla and insurrectionist wars to eject the hated white man colonizers who came in a century prior and took their land. Understood. Got it. The insurrectionists and guerillas were fervent they could run their own countries more efficiently and with more compassion than the white man. Got it. The African insurrectionists got meaner, resorting to terrorism, kidnapping, torture, brutal murder, planting explosives in shops and restaurants, mounting hit-and-run submachine attacks day and night on the populace, white and black and north African. Don't believe me, look up the old news films from the period.\n The insurgents, insurrectionists, revolutionaries, guerillas, partisans, and outright terrorists succeeded. White man gone. Fast forward to the 21st century. What do you see? Failed nation states. Lack of social and economic stability. Countries still with poor hygienic standards and low medical care. Famine. Hunger. High unemployment.\n What happened? Mostly....corruption, aggravated by increasing drought conditions over the past seventy years.\n What do you see today? Descendents of those once ferocious revolutionaries and insurgents who were willing to sacrifice their lives resorting to terrorism and murder, now risking life and limb by jumping into rickety boats to cross stormy seas and enter the countries of their former European oppressors. France and Italy are among the most astonished of all. \n Canada was not a colonial power yet look at all the migrants from Africa, desperately seeking a better life. Their forebearers promised far better than their European occupiers but delivered even less because everybody has their hand in the till and is lining their pockets. When a visitor has to pay government employees bribes for them to do their jobs, you know you've visited a failed state. Bring up the subject of institutionalized and cultural widespread corruption and they get defensive and angry, still blaming everyone else for their own failures.\n One of the more common solutions over the past twenty years, accepting huge, high-interest loans from the Red Chinese government that they cannot repay, is now coming back to bite them in the keister.
