It is undeniably sad these people are going through this, and it should have been handled more intelligently and logically from the beginning. If your belief is either they should all be left to drown, or that we should have no borders at all, you are at an extreme and you are why we have this problem today. Well, Indians dont need asylum. All are economic immigrants. If they are claiming asylum, it means they are unable to meet points or dont have as much skills. These applications should be rejected. Saying this as Indian -Canadian who immigrated in General Express Entry a few years ago.

Those with student visas should automatically be barred fro asylum claim.

That needs to be shut down fast. The main culprit is India whose applicants need extra scrutiny.. If you file a claim after coming as a student it should be automatically rejected. If not automatic at the minimum it needs to be expedited and rejected for coming to Canada on false pretenses.

How about more details. Where did they come from and how many had their asylum claims accepted? It's unfair that students who arrived with substantial fees from their home countries are now being considered refugees. The government should simply refuse their registration without processing their claims. They clearly do not fit the definition of refugees, so why register them and provide them with food, medicine, bus tickets, park passes, and toys for their children? I once came across colleague who arrived on study permit, went to construction jobs while on the permit, took advantage of favouring exchange rate in his home country, send all his savings there, bought a 4 acre land and gets healthy crops there enough for his family to live a lavish life making enough to retire at 30. When his study permit and associated work permit expired and he didn't qualify for PR in Canada as per point system, applied for asylum stating political unrest back home. His asylum was accepted. We who think they are poor are fools. He was only 27 and said he will retire at 30. But I doubt he will ever go back to his home country.? Canada is his gold mine. He was from Bangladesh. Trust me Indians dont go that far. There is no political instability in India and if to the contrary Indians are claiming asylum the system is truly broken.

This isn't new. International students pay more to attend our universities, and always have. That's why universities prefer international students over Canadian citizens. International students just want a back door into Canada, they can’t even afford school or housing when they come and just claim refugee once they realize that. Add one question for the student application……. Is there any reason you would seek asylum in Canada…yes or no….if yes state why. If no any future asylum claims will be denied.

RELEASE THE COUNTRY DATA. I am so certain we will see just 2 countries taking the majority of these claims. Why punish all international students if thr problem seems to have 1 or 2 sources? Im sorry, but not every country is in a condition to where we can trust that the students aren't merely using study as a way to get to Canada. Until this issues are addressed back home or can be screened harder here, people from those countries should be banned from applying. Its so ridiculous. If the data shows its like a relatively even asylum application rate from like 10+ countries ok Ill shut up. If its like 1 or 2 countries. ban Ban Ban ffs.

And according to the rules and standards that have to be met to obtain a student visa, none of them should be eligible for asylum. This is a way they are deliberately cheating the system. It is not right or fair. All of their claims should be automatically rejected, and they should have their student visas revoked. If we had a government that cared about Canadians and the rule of law, this would not be happening. But as it stands, we have a corrupt government and bureaucracy that only cares about lining their own pockets and staying in power. The people who are approving this and not rejecting them outright should be held criminally accountable and should lose their jobs. We have rules and laws for a reason- the government and public service's job is to put the needs of Canadians first.

I fear, soon Canadian passports on the international airports will be treated like a third world country passport. This situation raises questions about the true necessity of immigration in Canada, especially when other countries do not seem to have the same demand. The influx of older international students, particularly from India, taking jobs that could go to Canadian youth, further fuels the debate.

This is because Canada made asylum is the easiest option to get permanent residency. While harder for the students. Most of those int' students were completely fine back in their home country. Now theyre making a 100% false story, false documents to get their asylum approval. Allowing asylum claim for everyone, providing benfits for the claimants and ultimately giving easy approval is direct injustice to the students who studied, paid tuition, worked hard during PGWP. Making everything easier for the fake refugees encourage those false / unqualified / half-qualified students to claim asylum.

If they apply refugee claims as Indian, deny them automatically
