Gangs decide when you are allowed to be outside, a guy got shot outside our door, another got shot very close and he was the wrong guy who just looked like someone else. One weekend we had 2 rape attemps on our Street and there was a gang shooting one station away from us at kids playgroynd when a kid got ahot by accident too. I understand you. I am so anxious in Canada, the rents are double what they were a few years back, and I can afford my apartment only because I have stayed in the same place for several years. I need to move because of bad neighbors for 2 years, but I cannot afford to move out. I could change countries, but I am too old to want to start from the start, to quit my job without knowing if I would find another in a new country. Good you can work from everywhere, I would gladly quit Canada if I had a remote job!

I left Germany after a year working.\nReason:\n15%- Even though i learnt german, but still faced discrimanation sometimes due to colour. Due to discrimanation outsiders can never go up the ladder. In the USA, You would see many Indians as CEO, but in Germany its impossible.\n25% - Work is too slow. Many people remain on leave/holiday. Not just my office, bank and other gov work are also very slow.\n20% - Too many immigrants. its no more germany. school has almost 80% non german.\n10% - Dependency on trains, and trains are often delayed. Getting driving licence takes lot of time.\n5% - Cold weather\n5% - High taxes (but we get some benefits)\n5% - People are very closed. I wanted to help and talk to neighbour, but they were so cold to interact.\n5% - Away from home, never felt like home.\n5%- Doctor appointment, sply for kids is nightmare. \n5%- Drugs, beer, smokers everywhere. No culture.\n\nOthers find difficulty in finding house, but i got easily.\nNow some positive:\n\n50% - Too much time for yourself. But it goes in bringing grocery and housework.\n20% - Pure air and water... lot of greenery to go around.\n20% - connectivity and tourism to rest of europe.\n5% - Free schools, good open grounds.\n\n\nMy personal reason was spirituality is missing in Germany. Leaving may solve your problems but only for very short time, because whatever place you end up in, it may be no better, and good deal worse, since you won't be a citizen there. I'm pretty sure more will come but many will leave so on once they understood that their living standards aren't improving. I see lot of people are struggling and moving to Netherlands, Belgium and soon. Even with two income it's hard to survive in any EU countries. The main reason behind all this misery is lack of housing, tax, tax and more taxes. Netherland is also not a good at housing and taxes. European are not work hard becasue it will only result in more taxes and causes more misery. In EU majority of people choose to spent time with family and friends than earning more money. It is cultural difference between EU and rest of the world.\n\nImmigrants come to EU thinking of earning more fortune like Dubai or USA, so that they can send remittance back to home has just become a day dream. In reality these countries take half of your fortune in taxes and in return they give good water, clean air and almost peaceful life.

I agree with you leaving. I am a 3rd generation retired Canadian who used to be proud to be so. Now I am not, in fact I am embarrassed to say I am Canadian as it is nothing to be proud of. I think of how good things were in the 70's and 80's while I was young and now how bad things are today and it is truly depressing. Back then if you are willing to work, you could make a decent living, buy a car, a house and raise a family - today, good luck with that. The people in the west have had no say in the faulty governments we have had as Ontario and Quebec have put the final nails in our coffin when they elected that buffoon JT for a third consecutive term and then the NDP kisses his butt to join up and torture us more when most sane Canadians did not ask for this. JT is truly an embarrassment for this country although the US is in step with comatose Joe. I feel sorry for the kids and many others that are trying to survive, make a living and buy houses. Reverse discrimination has been at play for 20 years or so but is really out of control these days when a white Canadian kid that has got 5 yr honours degree in University has trouble finding a job today because you are the wrong colour. I do have to say: I worked at a dental office and I NOTICED that every one that “moved away “ because they could no longer stand living here, ALWAYS came back every 6 months to get their free healthcare. So if she does move away, I am pretty sure she will come back for medical, dental etc. So I hope she has a good life, but if she is leaving then she should also give up her Canadian citizenship. She can’t have both ways.

As an Indian, who is the highest income earning ethnicity in Germany like USA.. Yes I can say that people are good as I have many German friends and some directly judge me as per my face and clothes to look cool n all(but yes they respect us). And not only Germans but also other people from Western countries and Korea, Japan, Indonesia and some treat us differently. They say that we are talented people but have that old stereotype in them which I can read on many people's faces as soon as I see them. but I don't care. \n Apart from that, Germany has slow bureaucracy, long waiting times, no adjustments nd easy to go like us, canceled trains,less digital infra., and a language barrier. I work as a highly skilled professional in a Supply chain with so-so pay.

Such an egregious blatant abuse of the system. Even more egregious, this woman, named at 1:41 in the court order, is also foreign and working. Has social media account etc. She lives an expensive lifestyle per her friends/connections social media. These criminal trespassers need to be convicted much faster in the courts as good landlords like this man , who expected his condo to supplement his retirement, are being fleeced by criminal trespassing squatters. The courts need to do a much better job and enact updated laws to prevent such occurrences.

Most of the problems listed do exist in several countries.\nIf you are an immigrant in a country for work focus just on that and try to move out when you are done. (Due to declining population Germany isn't prioritizing such people)\nIf you are an immigrant and planning to settle in the country for good then you need to invest and learn their system, culture etc..\nIts not easy or pleasant at first but you need to go through that for your future in that country.\nStop complaining and make the best out of it.

We just left Canada 2 weeks ago. Now we’re in the US. Canada has gotten worse for the last few years or decades according to some. When we applied for Canada, all the prosperity was promising. It was like second or third option behind the US and UK. And now, after 7 years, we have decided to really act and do what’s best for our family and the future of our kids. The main reasons why we left Canada, it’s the high and doubled taxes, the very slow healthcare, you get to start to zero despite your decades of managerial experience, they don’t honor your diploma cuz they have their own standard even if your education or work is US standard, the housing and rentals are skyrocketing. Imagine if the rentals are increasing every year by $50-150 is insane. It’s just so inhumane. Back in my birth country in the Philippines, if you’re poor or low income family..the government don’t tax you. You get a high percentage of healthcare assistance and you also get some free social services including monthly allowance from the national government and another separate assistance from the local government. Canada is beautiful if you have money with all the good and kind people around, but the expenses, it’s gonna kill your pocket.

I came back to Canada in 2022 after 20 years living abroad, and it's been a mixed bag. Getting a good job is extremely difficult as international experience is rarely factored into potential employers decisions to hire - even if the companies you've worked for are Fortune 500. If you didn't work for that company in Canada, good luck getting the same position. You'll be working in a junior position despite your previous job title. My wife is currently going through this. She went from Project Manager at one for largest companies in the world to junior developer at a small company. Pay is.......not great.\n\nI've been lucky with having a lot of support of family and friends. A lot of the clients I've started to work with in my profession came through people I know. I never would have got these opportunities on my own in that amount of time. It would have taken years. Nepotism played a big part.\n\nTo come to Canada, and start a new life without a solid support system would be absolutely brutal right now. I got really lucky, but my situation isn't normal. I wouldn't recommend anyone (Canadian or immigrant) to come back right now if they're been gone for a long time. The rent alone is enough to turn anyone away.

I was born in Montreal in the mid 50s and growing up it truly was a free country with plenty of opportunity. Graduating from Sir George Williams University I was able to purchase a brand new Mustang and live in my own new construction 2 bedroom luxury apt. Food and going to clubs was never an issue and as I had worked during the summers, I had no student debt. Most Canadians back then were from European backgrounds and safety was never an issue. In the year 2000 I left for the United States for good. I worked , lived and retired in a small university town and have a conceal carry permit to protect myself even here. I remember when you didn't even need a passport to go back and forth to Canada . The great replacement has hit Europe the hardest but Canada is a close second. If I were to leave here it would probably be for Thailand or the Philippines where there is a reasonable cost of living and safer conditions. I feel for you as I too can never go home, not the home I came from.

Somehow Poland accepted Ukrainian refugees with open arms. And why yes, some commit crimes and behave in unbecoming ways but vast majority learned to speak polish,work polish jobs and uphold cultural and social norms. Having lived in migrant-rich places in UK and Scandinavia, this is simply not the case with migrants from Islamic countries. Their culture, heavily influenced by religion, doesn't have the same values, promotes seclusion from unbelievers and using unbeliever's resources at will because they see non-muslims as beneath them.There are Muslim women in Sweden who are there for 20+ years and speak NONE of the language. The epidemic of sexual abuse , property crime and gang violence, the statistics about learning the language, culture, statistics about employment, even personal interviews are good enough proof that majority of these migrants aren't willing to uphold our rules, our culture and are NOT going to be suitable citizens of Europe. Why should we be paying for people who gleefully admit to not wanting to work and feeling entitled to social benefits? Only France and UK were colonial empires, the rest of Europe had NOTHING to do with the state of Middle East.\nWe sympathise with people wanting to escape from religious fundamentalism, from fear of retribution for their identity and there are separate programmes for them. However we have every right not to want Islam and it's rules and it's fanatics anywhere close - religion is a remnant of the middle age and religious fundamentalism, be it Christian of Muslim is nothing more than an excuse to be hateful and bigoted. Europe has worked hard to free itself from that kind of mentality, to have majority of people who genuinely believe in things like gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, disabled rights, right to healthcare, equality under law and so on - vast majority of which are not compatible with what vast majority of practicing Muslims believe. They don't like us, they don't like the way we behave and dress, they don't want to live like us and follow the same rules- why are they here if not for the resources? If they were there for human rights issues, they wouldn't be bringing the opressive faith that is the source of the human rights violations in their homeland.

It’s by design it’s designed that way so they can keep the population on the hamster wheel so people can keep on working till they drop dead, they want to give you just enough to make it by but not enough to create a good life for yourself.

This is so sad to watch. I'm an Aussie in Sydney who worked in Calgary for 10 years between 2004 and 2014. Watching your country deteriorate like this at the hands of your glorious leaders is gut wrenching. The spread of wasting humanity across North America as the legalisation of drug use (+ other socialist policies) is taking hold bends my mind. We also have unattainable house prices here for many, but we don't have the large scale social devastation (yet). Good luck in your journey - can't imagine how tough this is for you and your family. Canada is insane, over the past 3 years i have seen the housing market triple in my area. Crime has exploded and so too has the cost of basic goods and services. I am in the top 10% of income earners in this country and I have been priced out of the housing market indefinitely. I work in stem and i am lucky that i can afford a 1 bedroom apt. When i was a child my parents worked simple blue collar jobs and made average to below average pay. They had a nice modest home. Now even crack shacks are beyond my ability. How the fuck does the bottom 40% of Canadians survive?

For me i don't think Canada is really bad at all i know everything is becoming expensive but not everything yes the house is expensive but for me right now i am already retired I'm 66 years old my house i already paid off i live in milton just outside of Toronto the only problem is my two sons but both of my son have a good job my oldest son he worked as computer software developer and my youngest son he worked as computer data in downtown Toronto now my plan i want to go back to my birth country Cambodia for my retirement from November to March April I come back to Canada to see my childrens and grandchildrens this is just plan but remember Canada still the best country to live compare to some other countries good luck to you Alina . The Lauren Southern delusion. It's not sad that you're leaving Canada. It's sad that you came here at a good time, at a young age, and didn't take advantage of all the of the opportunities here. There are plenty of women your age that are doing well in this country, but these women went to university, got a decent job right after, worked hard, saved their money, didn't spend it traveling the world, got married, bought a home, have one or two kids, etc, and are doing fine. Putting any blame on the government for your own situation, at the age of 33, is ridiculous.

Born and raised in Canada but left in 1999. I have only been back 3 times and although I retired in 2015, I have decided to not move back, maybe never. I am absolutely heart broken about it because I love the country I grew up in. Been traveling full time ( no home base ) since retirement and we keep looking for a place to call home. We are ending a 2+ year stay in South America and are now headed to Japan, just for the heck of it, change of scenery. We are not too keen on hot and humid but we still want to visit SEA. Its every where in Canada not just Brampton, its like Canada is India because Canadians become minorities visible, I see that all of Canada are full of Indians. Good for Colleges and Universities. No youth citizens can not find a job for summer. Everywhere is full of Indians, Walmart now is 99 percent work there are Indians.

Another issue not mentioned here is the discrimination highly skilled professionals face when it comes career advancement.\nI know some very good professionals (different fields) that already left or are planning to leave Germany because they are tired to deliver more than 100% at work and always being overlooked for promotions or salary raises, while the native employees receive all these by doing the bare minimum. Or being offered jobs below one’s expertise and ending up doing the work for a native manager that qualifies mostly by nationality.\nAll this DE&I is all talk and targeted to a specific minority, while the other forms of discrimination are ignored and the majority of managed roles are filled by natives (who’s wok is done by not-good-enough immigrants).\nAt some point you get tired….\nYes, the public services work fairly good, but this country seems zombified….

Since my mother was German when I was born, I just recently found out that I'm also a German citizen from birth through descent through my mother. I've been living here in the US since high school when I moved from Victoria to Tucson, Arizona. I eventually got my US green card (permanent residency. I then moved to Madison, Wisconsin and became a US Citizen. At this point, I am a dual US and Canadian citizen in addition to being German citizen as well. I am applying for my confirmation of German citizenship through the German consulate in Chicago which would then allow me to obtain a German passport for access to live and work freely in EU and Schengen countries. I went to The Netherlands last January and I really feel in love with the Dutch culture and lifestyle. I am planning on spending at least a few years there as soon as I get my German passport. \nMy relatives in Canada keep telling me how lucky I am to be a US Citizen as they all say how terrible the situation has become in Canada. I am surprised since I've always considered Canada to be one of the top places to live in the world. I haven't lived in Canada for a long time and I've been doing relatively good here in the USA. I enjoy the US overall but we definitely have our share of issues here as well.\nAnyhow .... I wish you the best on your next location.

So many Canadians in the same situation — perhaps use your Canadian passport ? so many better places for you to be… find a nice job across the border in the US — it’s so easy to get a TN work Visa, or work tax free in the UAE, or build a nice career in Singapore. I had the same problem with Australia — it’s my home, and my heart will always fondly call it home forever. Australia is a big country with small job market, generally ignorant (but nice) people and limited economic diversity. One gets proper civic amenities only in either Melbourne or Sydney e.g., top notch medical care, a wide variety of groceries etc. Taxation is very high and although some people will tell you “we are well taken care of…” that is not true nowadays. The Australian Government’s policies over the last 40 years destroyed manufacturing, the economy, working conditions and inflated the property market. A reasonable 2-bedroom apartment in a Sydney suburb could cost you Au$2000-3000 in rent or Au$500,000+ to buy — and that goes higher as you get closer to downtown Sydney. The problem is that incomes are not high enough in Australia and housing quality is less than average overall for these ridiculous prices. Food, tolls and petrol cost a lot, although Sydney and Melbourne’s fresh food markets give you better prices than you’ll find in most other cities. My wife and I had a combined income of over Au$300,000/year while we lived there. We finally left Australia and moved to the US because even with our relatively high income we could only have an average house for around Au$1.8 million, we couldn’t fill up the tub and have a proper bath because of water restrictions, our kids would get an average schooling and their only dream in life would be to one day own a house. We didn’t want to live like that, so we wrapped up and left for good. The US is much better for skilled people — I don’t mean plumbers, tilers, roofers or landscapers, although life is good for them too. I’m sure someone will reply to this comment about the gun violence in the US. All I can say is that in the US we have the option to defend ourselves whereas in Australia we are expected to quietly die if someone kicks us in the head, stabs us or shoots us. Quality of life is good here in the US for me and my family. Fly free, mate!

I had the same issues as an expat in other countries and other expats who I talked to too. It's always the same.\n\nLanguage barrier:\nFor day to day activities it's less of a problem in bigger cities. For most jobs you simply need a higher level of a language for team work. If you're motivated I believe you can get to C1 in 6 months, with good learning techniques. That said you're probably not motivated. Learning a new language feels like hard work and you feel awkward speaking it.\n\nHard to meet friends:\nSame for all other countries. Create your own social circles or try sports, similar interests to get to know people. \n\nHow people treat you:\nIf you feel unwelcome, it's probably just all in your head because you're not accustomed to a different culture, so you feel like a foreigner. Got nothing to do with Germany, but with being an expat. \n\nRacism:\nProbably less of a problem in western Germany and bigger cities. Avoid east Germany. Also see previous point.

Just a message for canadians, next time you travel to south europe or asia, ask the locals how much they get paid, how many hours they work and how much is their rent, before bragging about how good and affordable life is in those countries. Most of you there, live in a fucking bubble.

I worked for a Canadian company for 25 years living in the USA, California / Silicon Valley specifically and spent days in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver - great place but probably has been run-down by wrong Government policies just like the USA - first blame is always on immigrants even though majority of them (especially in the USA) do jobs that Americans or Canadians do not want to do - farm work, construction work and services while 50% do get proper education and find good jobs and build up the community\nPolitics in the USA and Canada has gone so bad in recent years almost everyone is thinking of moving back to native country or find other affordable places - easier decision at the age of 33 but not 66\nWherever you go, I am guessing it will be around Bali, good luck and may you have all the success you strive for and deserve!

I am sorry to hear this. I am in the same boat. I moved here around 37 years ago and found this country much better compared to my old country, especially when the army killed students. I decided to stay in Calgary, Canada. What makes me sad is seeing Canada going down the drain. While seeing everything getting worse, my old country becomes a prosperous, advanced and powerful country. My classmates back there were mostly high-level leaders, and some of them became elites. As the best student in the class, I could not get position even close to theirs. Only good thing is that I have been making a lot of money due to my strong technical knowledge and the capability to do difficult work. I hope I can at least maintain the same living standard when i am old, but it looks less and less certain. If I realized this at your age, I would have moved back.

I think it's good that we run this kind of story. Most landlords especially for condos like this one in Toronto, are owned by regular folks who still work a job and have budgets and families. They aren't greedy, they aren't big corporations; they're just people who bought investment properties and want to rent them out for a price. Canada needs landlords because not every can or even wants to buy real estate.\n\nWhen you see stories like this, which I think are outliers, they're good reminders that being a landlord is risky and income properties don't print money. It's also a reminder to good tenants (which are most tenants) that your landlord isn't being paranoid when they ask for references, proof of income, etc. They would rather scare you off then be saddled with a non-paying, non-leaving tenant (rare as they may be) and they don't know you (and you don't know them).

Ough that opening line hit home. More so when I think of my mother when I left home at 17yrs old to join the Navy never to return to the family home again. I served for 10 yrs ABS never really stopped my adventures and now at 52 all I can think about is when I’ll transition to a remote working life and finally leave the USA for good. This country is so demanding. I've been here for a year one year and I observed that they want you to do that ,and do this?. They are not really good people they only want to work and work.

I´ve been contacted multiple times by German companies to work there and the difference with other countries is quite interesting. Places like Denmark or the Netherlands offer you help in anything you may need as well as using english to work while leaving the local language as optional, but in German positions it all seems to be about demanding from you without giving much in return. \n\nI don´t think that it as good strategy if your country has a labour shortage, specially of skilled labour because it is also demanded in many other countries that are simply better options.

Germany dont have any facilities for Skilled People, after working for 3.5 years in a good position, Finally I'm moving out next month. \nGerman system is build for unskilled asylum seekers (both legal and illegal ones)

you stand last in the competition but speaks great German then your chances to get selected is 100 times higher than the person with adequate degree and more years of experience in the related field. Only concern for them is whether candidate can speak good German or not .If your metric is limited to one measure then this is bound to happen. Immigrants skilled manpower in your country is compelled to work in restaurants, warehouses, bakeries, just because they don't speak the fluent German .

If you are a friend of good old analogue bureaucracy and would like to work as a caretaker with a master's or doctoral degree because your qualifications are not recognised in Germany, then Germany is the right country for you!

Borders exist for a reason. It’s not fair to citizens of ANY country to dump hoards of unknown, unvetted people onto us and our cities AND expect us to support, educate, provide healthcare and pay for them. People from poor countries think westerners and Europeans are all rich. In our societies we work extremely hard and sacrifice our entire lives to have a good future and healthcare if we need it. We pay a lot of tax to have safe cities and towns. When you dump thousands and millions of people into our countries we all sacrifice even more and cannot access housing, healthcare or social programs because they are overwhelmed helping illegals. That is not fair to citizens of any nation. The real difference would be teaching poorer war torn countries how to build fair societies. How to build an economy. How to develop a democracy. How to root out government corruption. How to be tolerant of other religions. How to take care of your own citizens!!
