our economy is about $2T generated by just 40M people compared to India $5T generated by 1.5Bln people. Our standard of living is relatively high thanks to high productivity, not number of people. Low productive, cheap labor is not help but disaster to our well being. We do need newcomers but only highly productive individuals who can fill in existing gaps in skilled trades.

Many younger (under 50) Canadians among us have been indoctrinated by our education system with it's left leaning doctrine, to believe this massive influx of immigrants is good and as it should be in Canada. The wages in Canada are an embarrassment in compared to the USA. The average salary for an intermediate Recruiter in the USA is 100k-$140+. In Canada, its $50-60k and dropping. Salaries in Canada have become stagnant since 2008, and the only jobs are those that are min wage. Our government allows migrants and immigrants to come in to insure our wages to go up.

It is more job security issue. Companies paying less and keep laying off their staff while price is growing daily bassis. My grocery is double and my income is 35% Less compare to 5 years ago.

You haven't mentioned enormous bureaucratic apparatus of the government which costs a lot to run being extremely inefficient at the same time. Canadian immigration program is just a cheap labor scam and Ponzie scheme. My wife works in retail. Earns minimum wage plus commission from sales. She made almost 25% less in 2023 compared to 2022. If adjusted for inflation that would be closer to 30%. My salary was ok in 2018 but became stagnant. Both incomes combined barely make us through the month. The fact that I have to work two weeks in a month just to pay rent is very depressing. Having lived in Canada for almost 6 years I seriously regret decision to move here.

A few years ago I got job offer to work in Canada, it looked attactive in the beginning until we went over the offered wage which was slitghly above my income working in the US, the issue came up when I saw how much I would get net in my pocket after taxes, social security, etc, the amount was lower to my net income at that time, and comparing the higher cost of life in Canada (home rent, grocery, utilities, etc) vs USA, oh man!!, I had to turn it down. I cannot imagine how expensive it is to live in Canada these days, but for sure it must be a way higher. I kind understand why this decline of citizenship applications is happening.

As someone who lived in Quebec for 8 years, I can say that Canada has an undeservedly good image abroad. It's a trap for immigrants, where they suck out all their savings and energy. In reality, it's not even a state, it's a corporation where monopolies and associated corrupt politicians rule the roost. Lack of preventive healthcare, huge taxes, unbelievably high prices compared to incomes for everything from food to housing, outdated infrastructure... I hope to find the ways to leave here soon.

It’s literally because of cost of living I came here last year I didn’t expect how expensive is everything here most especially my house and as compared to my previous job in other country my salary is bigger compared to what I am receiving here . Never trust the average « house price » on Internet…856k in Toronto? That was a price 20 years ago. Today, this is a condominium and not a house. If you Google average house price in Montreal ut say 500k… impossible. At least not on Montreal island. You can get a 1 bedrooms condominium for that price.\n\nI grewup here in Montreal and even if our city is very multiculturalthere there is still less visible minority here: 32% compare to 57% in Toronto. Employers can be more selective. I have a immigrant name, and my husband is a native French Quebecois, we both have the same bachelor degree and I even have better grade than him, but he always get 10 times more interviews than me. People change their attitude instantly when they heard that I have the local accent. « Oh, you are from here! » If you don’t speak perfectly French and master English, you can’t find a job in a big corporation. If rent in downtown Vancouver on the 25th floor is to expensive, maybe try moving to more rural communities in Canada, where costs are different in living. If you come from a poor punjab province in India whereas you’ve sold the farm to come , then don’t expect a downtown Toronto sky rise , 1500 square foot 17th floor underground heated parking, to be the dream destination of your vision. It’s comparable to moving from the punjab to downtown Delhi and expecting the same cost comparisons to the punjab. Unfortunately it’s not sad to see the Indian people go. As an immigrant who moved to Canada from India, just 3 yrs ago I can say India is affordable , medical services are also affordable and accessible, food is affordable accessible all through the night, transportation is cheaper and better. Weather is fantastic , except during the rainy season. \n\nCanada is not comparable to India, it is like ordering a plate of panipuri from a 7 * hotel and saying Bhayya pyas dhalo at the street vendor.

Job market is sluggish, Salary not comparable with US, House Rent are so high, buying a house is a distant dream, inflation is high, education standard is poor kids learn more of LGBTQ+ than math or science, infrastructure not spread out like US, concentration is only in Toronto and within 20 km radius, high cost of living for eg. ridiculus auto insurance premiums, groupism & racisim. I dont think people blend in, healthcare serious wait times. I know no country is perfect but Canada lost its charm in recent times because of politics like in India. Overall US is still better but has its own problem like mass shooting & rising cost of living. If you get lucky US is the right option for now compared to europe.

And you forgot one important thing, tho you’re successful during your prime age career wise, when you’re 65 & retired, ( without Private Pension ) government pension isn’t enough even to rent a decent bachelor apartment of your own.
