As an Indian, I am aware of the many scams people are involved in just to stay in Canada. One of my acquaintances went to Canada with their family on an Express Entry PR. They are working full-time for cash while also claiming unemployment benefits from the Canadian government. I wonder what action the Canadian government would take against such scams. I hope my comment reaches someone responsible.

Many years ago (I am 82) my husband was a post doc at Princeton. In case we wanted to stay in the USA a few years we became immigrants. While many people were pleasant and interesting , we hated the general culture there. The racism, medical expenses, the lack of public parks, public transportation , etc. we found very unpleasant. I became pregnant. My doctor who was kindly however had to suddenly flee the state as his wife was having him arrested ! He gave me info about places my child could be born on our trip home if necessary at our last meeting for I decided that my child would definitely be a Canadian! So, we packed up and left the month before my son was born. LOL.My recent ancestors are French Canadian, British, Scot , and I am descended from a Loyalist Niagara area family - but am also descended from every founding ethnic leader in the USA! Even several on the Mayflower! So, most Americans are my cousins! I think they have gone astray!

I moved to Canada last year as an international student. I am an italian citizen, I have always dreamed to move to Canada. I was fascinating by its landscapes and lifestyle. Now, after I have lived for one year only, i found myself very disappointed. I am not surprised by so many people leaving Canada. It is sad because Canada was always been a great country...who knows if the current situation will change one day! ?

What a nonsensical report! It is upto each individual country to decide who to let in and who not to let in, nobody in their sane mind can call this foreign interference. If they were telling Canada who to let in or who not to let in, then it may be, but you cannot reasonably expect any country to let in people based on a foreign country's orders. Trudeau's pandering to extremists will have similar consequences in the case of Khalistan as it is already having in the case of Palestine. Trudeau needs to stop destroying Canada's credibility for his pandering, it is becoming clear that Canada's mainstream media is no longer free, which is quite rare among highly developed countries like Canada. I live in Canada and, as an immigrant, I study alongside many Indians. One of the biggest challenges I’ve observed is the difficulty some people have in adapting to Canadian culture. Indians, like many other groups, have a very strong and vibrant cultural identity, which is absolutely valid and important. However, when you choose to live in a country that is not your own, there is a certain responsibility to adapt to the new culture. After all, you made the decision to move to a different country, and part of that decision involves immersing yourself in the local culture.

Indian took advantage of our immigration law. Remember. Indians are good scammers in many things. They even scam their own people.

Even with the guns like. We have guns here. We just don’t think it’s better to have barely any regulation control or laws about attaining them owning them and what is appropriate use of them versus not. To watch Americans defend their right to bear arms as a reason to entirely ignore the amount of gun violence , combined with insane laws that literally enable or encourage said violence , from people who are not in anyway necessarily trained to asses or handle as safely as possible , urgent situations. Meaning, to most of us , excepting the most left leaning socially progressive pockets and contexts , which even then wouldn’t be viewed that way to us just acceptable lol ?\n\nOur baseline/political middle in Canada is A LOT more left leaning than the baseline normal/political middle in the states. So while people tend to equate your democrats to our liberals or our NDP , and equate your republicans to our conservatives. It’s just not accurate. If you throw our span of parties and American span of parties on the SAME spectrum /polarity line. You might be surprised to realize how shifted left our systems range politically is from the American one. \n\nThis hugely impacts the average normal expectation , what we clutch our pearls at hearing coming out of the mouths of the general public , and our range of what we expect to not hear or see ranted about unless they’re to our view , extremely right leaning politically /social values. \n\nFor us this means that actually genuinely , a lot of America does get experiences by us as bat shit crazy racist homophobic immigrant intolerant culturally and religiously ignorant , and somewhat backwards in larger or smaller amounts ? I know that’s not fun to hear but. Being the most diverse country based so much on immigration means. What is normal and known /familiar and normal so we aren’t ignorant to , is completely different. \n\nFor us we have our pockets usually in more rural less populated areas further away from larger cities where there is more diversity but that’s the same often in many countries that you will find some of the louder racist homophobic intolerant voices typically in places that truly are unfamiliar and ignorant to the experience of growing up with and around much of any diversity of varying kinds. So it’s not to say we don’t have racism and intolerance of course like anywhere we do. It’s just contained and the range and frequency and intensity is MUCH different. We distinguish nuances of diff cultures and religions more easily and in larger numbers we’re more familiar with diff ways of life , language , food, dress , holidays , values and used to a much less segregated way of existing even when we are differnt from each other as the NORM. My parents were both born in the states and my older brother was born there but they moved up here when he was a baby. So nearly all my extended family lives down there and I’m a duelly. And my experiences discussing things with my cousins or visiting absolutely could be described as culture shock at times. The insane things that came out of my own cousins mouths when they hear our friends or partners of various cultures , our not understanding how big a deal and incredibly insulting apparently it is to have assumed someone American was lgbt lol the list goes on. Like I don’t think our most intolerant Pockets can hold a flame to even ur closet to middle a bit intolerant places and contexts in America. Quite honestly. \n\nI think the absolute undying favourable passionate upholding and support of nationalistic, capitalist, hyper individualistic mentality about society as a whole (from my Canadian born and bred perspective lol) makes the differences even more glaring blaring and hard to swallow for us lol. Rents and forget about buying a house in BC, AB, Quebec, Ontario. High unemployment, Inflation is high and going up more. We also do not have a military defense system and the U.S. is tired of Canada not spending money to meet their responsibility as a Nato country. Many Canadians are leaving the country permanent. Investors and businesses are pulling out. Canada is trillions in debt but keep printing more money (toilet paper). Canada has gone downhill significantly over the past ten years. Born Canadians and legit immigrants having to go through a rigorous immigration process are very unhappy and cause conflict. Besides all the different ethnicities cause unrest and are ungrateful, daring the burn the Canadian flag, uttering death to Canada, death the US and Israel. These trouble makers have not intentions to assimilate into Canada's culture and are disrespectful to the Canadian government and it's citizens. Our youth are very unhappy and do not see a future for themselves yet have to work very hard and pay unbelievable high taxes. The minimum wages are only 15 bucks an hour which cannot sustain life here in this country. Please stop making false promises to foreigners to come here and be disappointed. This is not a country of milk and honey any longer but poor and enormous homelessness. Hunger, terrible health care, incredible post secondary tuitions and books. Now that president Trump has won the election he is going to place tariffs on Canadian goods and rightfully so. Russia is very interested in the Antarctica and should they or anyone invade Canada we got 3 days of ammunition. The food in AB is very bad for your health. Everything has pesticides, hormones, and by the time fruit and vegies arrive here from the US all the nutrition have gone. A extremely high cancer rate, young and old, diabetes, depression and other mental disorders are rampant. Our children and grandchildren do not have a future so why bother going to school or work. Our kids live on the streets, shelters, camping in the woods and using fentanyl and meth all kinds of dangerous drugs. The cities and small towns are full of used needles, pipes, and more paraphelia just thrown on the trails everywhere. The US will not assist Canada when a possible War 3 will occur, and we the people of Canada and the land are easy prey. If you do not believe me, just come visit RED Deer shelters and walk around on the trails, go to Vancouver but becareful because random assaults are happening every day, people living in tents, using the streets as toilets, drugs galore, even the police is unable to act nor arrest criminal activities caused by desperate people who need to survive. Canada's economy is about to collapse and fall into a recession. We have too many people coming in our country without checking their back ground and many criminals and terrorist groups are entering declaring refugee status whether it is true or not, we do not know. The people of Canada who work and pay highest taxes are used to house these newcomers and education, jobs, food and money. Our government take better care of these illegal people than their own people especially our youth. So please let us not pretend Canada is a land of opportunity and great. We have to vote for the right leader who will have a very difficult time and challenges to overcome if at all possible and make Canada Great Again!

Our system has been abused for too long. My mom worked as a nurse's aide in a hospital for many years. This was in south Texas. I remember her telling me that Mexicans (with money) would come to have their babies here and then go back to Mexico. When the children were grown they could come and live here easily. I remember it pissed.me off. It didnt matter if they paid for the delivery. They were still cheating our system. I'm all for denying these people citizenship. We should follow Germany's example.

In USA So many people living even legally since many years but still they are not getting citizenship specially non-white peoples. They are doing this deliberately to keep them away from citizen rights.

I dont mind the indians since i dont live in an area with too many indians. Well i do (markham) but what annoys me (not tryna sound racist but i just need to say it) theres a lot of chinese here and markham's demographics is like 27-19% european and indians are 19% here but here we have nearly 50% chinese out of our like what 368,000 citizens.. i dont mind them but everywhere i go i hear people speaking chinese, posters in chinese, even some teachers have been teaching more chinese than canadian history at my sisters school. My PE class is 18 chinese kids, 3 white kids, 3 indians and 3 black people. See what i mean.. They're smart and keep to themselves but in my experience they're pretty loud and can often be a bit rude and a lot of the times a bit racist too. Edit: before anyone asks yes i am white. I am not trying to be racist but I would just like someone to hear me out. I think people in Brampton are having similar issues.

Canada is a law abiding country and no one can fool the system. It offers study visas with a condition of returning back to home after completing the study. But many indian students are cheated by local agents with fake promises of Canadian PR, and now face deportation. It is not the fault of Canada. Already Canadian citizens including its own students suffer a lot from getting a job. Lack of jobs, house, health services increased and at the same time criminal, anti social activities like car theft, sexual abuse of female students, traffic violations, and links with anti social elements linked with international students. Brampton becomes the number one crime area in Toronto. Canadians are very well known people for their multicultural identity but they become irritated by the hostile behaviour of the international students. \nSo Canada must give priority to its own citizens and its law and order. No one can be allowed to take advantage of its liberal system.

Problem was their was so many qualified people from India who could have immigrated smoothly and productively into Canada but they set up this Strip Shopping Mall College scam ruining the integrity of the benefit of qualified/skilled individuals entering Canada from Asia!

Well, categorizing Indians negatively unfortunately impacts South Indian's as well, who are in general law complying, respectful and well behaved. I do not want to divide Indians, but let's accept the fact that most of the problems created in Canada or many other countries, are in general people coming from North India. I urge people from North India to be more respectful, adaptable and complying, as it causes general bad impression for all.

I came to Canada in 1989 with my twin sister. I haven't left Canada ever since I came in. My twin sister left Canada for good in 2023. I did not come to Canada because I needed more money. I came to Canada because I did not have a country. Canada became my home country but the crazy thing is I don't recognize the Canada I knew over the years. Many people came to Canada to take advantage of this wonderful nation. My beloved city of Toronto turned into a third world country. I'm now in Alberta where I work hard and pay my taxes. There are no doctors for the majority of the population now. Hospitals are forced to close. Many people both native Canadians and new immigrants are forced to become homeless because of an overwhelming number of Indians flooding into Canada. There will be a lot of murders over the next few years in Canada. People are desperate and only trying to survive in their own native country.

honestly canada is a mess and i love all my immigrant friends but we just have way too many people in this country. No one can afford a house or groceries . A lot of people can’t even find jobs.

I immigrated to Canada in 1981 because I married a Canadian I should say French Canadian girl and it was just a better place for her to continue on with her background. We relocated to Ottawa which is bilingual and made it very easy for both of us to assimilate together. I moved back to the USA in 2006 to help my sick brother and move back again to Canada in 2016. I came back for many reasons. The political Edge in the united states, the guns out of control, the increased crime rate daily, in just too many people everywhere. Now I was living in the Tampa Bay area and a lot of the people come from out of state and out of country especially in the winter to spend their cold months in the sunshine. Some things I miss in the United States comes usually down to the cost of living. Unless you get sick. And I miss living by the Gulf of Mexico. Except during hurricane season. I prefer living in Canada only because it's a slower easier paced social environment. It has nowhere near the political stress that the United States has where it can almost be violent. Actually, where it has been violent. Revisit January 6th. Out of control guns with hot-headed men mostly can force you out as well and back to Canada. Canada's social structure and environment supersedes the United States tenfold. And of course as we get older, Healthcare is a priority. I'm thankful there's a place like Canada close to where I was born or I can spend the rest of my life enjoying it as opposed to looking over my shoulder constantly. I also find that Canadians have a huge appreciation of warm months. So many people are outside even when they are eating at restaurants. Because of the warmer months are so short, Canadians really take advantage of enjoying it and those months are never taken for granted. Winters in Ontario, like here in Ottawa, can be very cold once January and February come around. But once you make it into the middle of march, you can almost smell spring in the air and somewhere on the way. But there are those dreaded 8 weeks of oh my God ?

As a current international student I can say I am happy for all this changes Canada is doing in the immigration system sadly it was taken advantage by too many indians and people from africa that came here with not the best intentions, I can confidently say if in my case is not possible to stay I will happily return to central america with good memories and good friendships and start working again. thats life

I appreciate your take. I believe Canada's key issue is that it is facing a cultural decay, which is not exclusive to Canada. Many countries in the west are challenged by similar things such as aging populations and unaffordability. \n\nIt works in a cycle: governments and corporations take turns screwing over the general population and most people cannot afford anything. Corporation does A then government does B; government does X then corporation does Y. On the surface, government is _trying_ to do a good thing, but it backfires quite often, leaving the average person feeling scorned. \n\nChief among these corrective measures was mass immigration, and because there was already a climate of indignation, the introduction of too-many-immigrants was a huge slap in the face. Instead of making sure Canadians were better taken care of, the government responded to the corporations--not the people. \n\nGDP numbers mean nothing to the average Canadian person if their quality of life is in decline. The only people still in favour of mass immigration are those who do not have to confront it on a day-to-day basis. Even Canadian-born (or even Canadian Citizens of 5+ years) minorities, think the immigration problem is too much.

Thanks ladies. I have a person from Serbia who I hired many years ago. He is a professional and one of the best people I have ever employed. He h& his wife understood what it took to come to Canada. There was no easy path for them but they perserveered. They both have succeeded & are a great part of Canada now.

Many Muslim immigrants are known to support Islamic terrorism and support groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and the Houthis, etc… These are the same people who want to bring sharia law to Canada to override our Canadian laws. This should not be allowed to happen. Look at Montreal riots and pro-Palestinian protests that call for death to Canadians, Americans and Jews. Canada needs to wake up!!

I didn’t see many comments on the education system. \n\nThe quality of the US education in elementary, middle and high school is far less than in Canada. Post secondary has young people getting out of school with exorbitant debt.\n\nIt just another reason not to move to the US.

The problem is neoliberalism and capitalism. The 2 main political parties are hand in glove with neoliberalism and capitalism. They won't fix anything because they are in bed with corporations and the wealthiest. We need strong unions and way stronger rights for workers. The real reasons for low productivity? 2 weeks of vacation, no sick days, low wage economy etc etc. People are stressed, exhausted and they see work no longer pays. Even those on 60k a year. Capitalism has broken society and so has neoliberalism. I hope you don't become a sounding board for Poilievre...that would be very, very sad. Immigration is indeed a problem and the fact is too many politicians are no longer interested in sound public policy. Politics by slogans to match the news cycle and people's hunger for immediate knowledge through social media is what we see and is preyed on by the powerful.
