Wow I realize how oblivious I am when out in public. Makes me wonder how many times I get racially profiled. While I can recognize there is racism, there are various factors involved for people’s behaviours. There will be people who are very clear with their message but maybe the others could be because of natural human social normalcy. I’d be interested to see an experiment by asking people to decide who are more trustworthy based on what is normal in their society, choosing between two different photos. One with full face covering and the other completely exposed.

I came to Canada as a student. Applied through to get my permanent residency. Improved my English, also learnt French. Worked multiple jobs... learned the Canadian way of life. Amalgamated myself into this wonderful country and it's even more awesome people... most importantly always paid my taxes and never been on EI... now your telling me I should have just walked across the border and within 12 hours I would have received refugee status... phewww that's a blow out

Of all the people in Canada who are convicted of shop lifting, what are the proportions of whites, latinos, blacks or aboriginals? Are shopkeepers justified in their suspicion? We hear a great deal about racism, but never any comparative statistics that prove or disprove it. What I am trying to say is: is there any reason why this prejudice exists in the first place?\nIn Edmonton a few years ago an aboriginal man died of a stroke while waiting for triage in a hospital emergency area. IF I remember correctly, police and hospital staff alike assumed he was drunk, not suffering a stroke. I think the chances of someone in a downtown lower east side area being drunk is much higher than having a stroke. So staff just assumed he was drunk. \nIf more people of all ethnic backgrounds behaved more like whites would that suspicion disappear? I wonder if there is a logical and reasonable explanation for why shop keepers feel they way they do.

i remember when there was a huge earthquake in California and the road systems collapsed and people were stuck in their cars and on the news , they only showed this once, but we saw young black men risking their lives to save those people 's lives .. I went to the US often and I often came in contact with wonderful people of every culture or race and ALL were kind and sweet.

I'm a white older woman who refuses to dress up on my days off from work. I get followed around stores. I am afraid to leave a store for fear of being followed. I always have to show my receipts. I have been yelled at by young males of any background because I refuse to speed while driving. I was called a crazy drunk while crossing a parking lot. People seem to be being raised with very poor manners and a lack of respect for others. There is racism in every race or racial biases in every race. We all need to remember we are all actually the same race. It's called the human race. Remember we are all human beings and deserve to all be treated as such.\nWe are all human beings with plenty to offer each other. A new friendship, a wonderful meal, smiles, wisdom, wonderful stories, knowledge etc. I know I am racially profiled by others as well and wish it just wasn't there. Apparently because I'm white I believe I am first whatever that means. It is so much more comfortable when there are no seams. Love to yall

I work with a variety of people from all races and ages in my field. I wonder how much of how people treat individuals have to do with how booked they are. Regardless of a person’s race, I notice that if I am short on time or have back to back appointments \n, that I am not as attentive or as interested in people. However, if I limit myself to three appointments a day, I am an attentive and genuinely want to do my best at my job. So, because I know this about myself, I choose to limit my schedule to three appointments a day unless I absolutely cannot prevent it. I am a minority, too, and have been profiled left and right. My husband is Caucasian and thinks it’s in my head, but he can look like a bum and not be profiled whereas if I am not dolled up going to the store, you better believe I know not to put my hands in my pockets.

Yes, if you don't believe so. I challenge anyone to make friends an obvious ethic minority and spend 6months with them regularly. It will become obvious. A massive percentage of Canadians are not and wonderful people. Many are unfortunately. Jobs, promotions, finance, houses, shopping, etc. Just look at stats Canada records.

Racism does exist everywhere.\nIn Canada, America, Germany, France, Hong Kong, etc. You can fill in every country.\nYou can make hundred times more documentations about it without any change.\nAnd you can't say people to have no racism and wonder why it does not work. The more you talk about the less it will work.

While racism is real, there are certain people from some religious dicatorships in Canada spying on the free people of this country and making people uncomfortable too. there are those who want to push their beliefs on all Canadians and there has to be a balance in terms of acceptance and inclusiveness. I find many times people also play the race or discrimination card to push their beliefs and ways of life on others while I have heard them for example swear at and judge Canadians for example who don't cover up their hair or wear mini skirts......that is also discrimination and judgement and is also 100% wrong, even though they may be doing it quietly or in their own language. There is sometimes (besides obvious cases of racism of course) that there are 2 sides to the story! People that come to Canada also need to respect its values of respect for all, not just ask for it for themselves. While a lot of wonderful people come here and have the utmost respect for Canada that is NOT the case with those pushing their beliefs and particularly religious views on the rest of Canadians making them feel like outsiders I have heard many stories about.

Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack. It's more than OK to accept someone the way they are but as a friend or family member you doing them a disservice by not mentioning their obesity. \nI'm sorry if you feel I'm being to harsh or critical. I suggest going back too his country of origin and vote for politician's that will reform his government. It's crazy people from poorer countries keep electing socialist governments. While they inevitably must leave to Western countries. Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina. They should all be 1st world countries. Go back and vote right. Not left. Got to visit the neighbors up north two months ago and thankfully, my experience was wonderful! I'm of Mexican descent from Southern California and was visiting St. John, NB, and the people in New Brunswick were surprisingly friendly folks. I even had a random stranger who was worried about my bowel movements and warned me that eating too much seaweed would give me the runs. I absolutely enjoyed my time in New Brunswick and look forward to visiting my neighbors up north again in the near future.

Absolutely nothing has changed much over the past twenty years, except that people are not doing the racism denial thing.. not as widespread as ten years ago anyway. Since the past two years, no one denies that it is happening. And that alone makes things clearer for everyone. Canada must be making a lot of money from it. China would never put up with this they would stop you from entering in a minute, or deport you. Man, a lot of agencies run by Chinese help their clients through these shady practices. I remember going through one of these agencies after university to see if I can get some government scholarships to furthur my education with hopes that it'll help with job prospects, and they advised me that they would pad my resume with bogus employment history in order to meed the scholarship requirements, and I noped out of there. I wonder what is it about China that encourages people to turn to scams/shady practices?
