There were permits that allowed Canandian employers to hire people from abroad and sometimes they sold a single permit for 50k to 70k! How come the restaurants with dead sales are still running! Its crazy!!! And the Federal govt knows that!

I have met so many people in Canada especially from Africa , Middle East and Europe who apply to come here as asylum seekers just because they know they will get govt benefits and housing.

Tenants done pay rent, Landlord is terrified and leaves Investment property vacant. Govt charges vacant tax. Landlord hikes rent to cover interest and past dues, tenant stops paying again. Govt collects tax from both.

I'm an indian immigrant to Canada myself, my family moved here in the 00s. We worked hard to integrate and build a new life for ourselves here. The new migrants are a disgrace and an embarrassment. I hope the govt does something to address this soon, they're turning canada into a slum

No wonder people do not want to rent out nowadays with disgusting rogue tenants like these. The system is broken. And the govt does not give a damn to fix it. The govt is equally responsible along with these rogue tenants for this ugly mess, all the govt wants is to tax vacant condo home owners for their own policy blunders and lethargic system. Who in the right mind would want to rent out after seeing this. My sympathies go out to these condo home owners for the plight they are in who are running from pillar to post to get their dues and to get these rogue tenants evicted.

These days, every country blames their pre-existing problems on immigrants (easy to do). The realtor girl in the video clearly explained why housing is expensive, because it's expensive to build. Is that the fault of immigrants? No! In fact Immigrants should technically bring the cost 'DOWN' due to 'cheap labour'. Landlord Tenant board is a joke and should be called Tenant Board. Since PC govt came in power two housing minister have made situation worse for small landlords. There are less adjudicators than 6 years ago and applications take upto a year before learning takes place. Even then, any excuse by tenants is tolerated but landlord suffer. I will not invest any more in Ontario. It is a very very bad place and PC govt does not care. I do not know what housing minister does all day. Sad.

Great assessment. My wife left Vancouver 22yrs ago. It was bad then and has only gotten worse. Sadly the residents would rather smoke a joint than vote for a conservative govt and attend a church. Forget about GOD can't be surprised when he forgets about you. That said Australia is not much better and getting worse by the day. As immigrant , i do support immigration, but there has to be valid checks, for the people who can actually contribute to Canadian economy and society without changing its core principles and values…but yes..govt should realize the need for better infrastructure..

I am an immigrant from the USA. The problem in Canada is you have 36, 000, 000 million people that has to support the infrastructure and size of 2 large nations. There are no industries being born in Canada. Most jobs are govt, education, and other Union-Based jobs. Solve the industry problem, and you will solve your other problems.

The system is not sustainable. Fact: New Hampshire residents are now paying $3.50 for every $1 they receive in govt support. There's a $2.50 deficit there somewhere - where is it going? How is this sustainable?

I think a lot of Americans either forgot or didn't know that a few yrs ago illegals were pouring into Canada from US from Vermont. Roxam Rd in Quebec was their landing spot. Taxis in US made a fortune taking them to the border there where they crossed into Can and were greeted by RCMP acting as baggage carriers, loading these ppl unto busses and driving them to $50.00 a day hotels. Neither Canadain or American govt did anything to stop this. Ppl died out west crossing through the woods in dead of winter in the bitter cold.
