Canada will miss the wealthy newcomers. The criminals are not stuck in the USA pretending to be refugees. Their money will dry up when their bosses find them useless.

Shame on those in here whining about what they don't get that refugees get. We have access to all of that and more. Did you know that the basic needs that are provided to refugees or immigrants must be paid back to the government? They get a loan, we don't just give people money because they want to live here. Once they get their SSN and are deemed fit(usually means they speak and write English) for work they are required to find work. Many come from war torn countries or unable to provide food for their children or a safe place to live. Are you that unfeeling you don't want to help them? Canada used to be compassionate and helped others. It wasn't so long ago that our relatives immigrated here for a better life.

The police are informing them that the procedure is to be arrested and then they are lead through an evaulation process where they are assessed or denied refugee status. \n That is how refugees are supposed to be treated according to the 1951 Refugee Convention of the UN that Canada AND THE US not only signed but drew up. I'm surprised taxes wasn't your first point as for most immigrants that's the most shocking thing about Canada is the insane amount of taxes we pay, as for the education thing I agree with our policy for example while I was studying Architecture a Syrian lady who came as a refugee had an engineering degree in syria in order for her to work in the field she needed a Canadian degree as she was knowledgeable she flew through the courses almost impeccably on the other hand there was an Indian civil engineer but he struggled in everything except the math, he confessed to another classmate that he bought his degree and was completely clueless, he failed out in the first year... in my mind its a good way to separate the professionals from the liars

The people crossing into Canada illegally aren't refugee's. They stopped being refugee's when they came into the USA because they were then safe. They are picking and choosing with Canada. Very sad for the refugees. Canada needs more people for low-paying jobs (farmhand, food delivery, cleaners etc). But the system isn't set up to fully utilize skilled workers. Refugees aren't allowed to find work so they just become a liability.
