The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security. It's hard to parse the provocation from the US as anything less than a pretext to eventually try and annexe Canada. Maybe Russia will attack the Baltics at the same time. I do hope that Canada, EU and Britain will work together, there is no reason Britain and EU cannot replace America as the main trade partners and I have seen plenty of other videos about other asian countries indicating interest in Canada's trade.\n\nBut this is much more than just tariffs, Trump has really gone off the deepend siding with Russia and undermining Ukraine, even undermining the sanctions, I wouldn't be surprised if he is already trading with Russia, using whatever bizarre pretext he chooses.\n\nThese should already be red flags to Canada, there is a long standing relationship with the UK and Ukraine, but Canada is only reacting on the tariffs, which detracts from what other action they might have taken.\n\nThe imposition of these tariffs should be the straw that breaks the camels back, I hope that if America repeals these tariffs that Canada will still diversify so that they don't ever end up in this situation again.
