As a Canadian I think we should be helping fund the Universities and Colleges and getting rid of the private colleges. We need to stop immigration completely for a while and only allow skilled immigrants in required fields. If Canadians assist in funding the Universities and Colleges then tuition will be more affordable for Canadians. I'd rather pay tax towards schools instead of something useless like carbon tax.

This is a Canadian greed problem. Not the students' fault at all.\nOf course they'll come if we allow them to. Im a Canadian citizen and I live in Canada for more than 30 years the problem in this country is the government system is not good this is a kind of communist system and it will get worse if the system in Canada is not changed and the thing about having Canadian experience this is a crap and this is a stupidity. This is pretty funny. I'm Canadian and my best friend is an economist working for the government on demographic issues full time. Just has an FYI canada has seen its highest immigration rate in the past 50 years last year. I can also see and feel all the immigrants moving in the job market. I'm not so sure why those videos keep being produced. This country is not perfect but it's better than many other places in the world. For example, canada is barely affected by climate change because we already have resilient infrastructure. When it comes to housing it's not so much that the governement does not allow for more building than the fact that it's hard to build affordable homes because the homes in canada require a lot of work due to the nature of the climate. (Has a trained carpenter and GC I know.) It's also very far from all of the world's chaos. All those emerging wars will affect Europe directly but all we get are some small economic backlashes. Anyhow, I've been living here for my whole 31 years of life and I've enjoyed the place and its peace. What I dislike is the cold and the lack of sun. Your own canadian government is like communist state. toronto doctors are allowed to give people an injection to end their life. This way they are no longer a burden to society / government. I have cousin inlaws that live in markham a suburb and they have a house and when I visited them I had to squeeze my car in the driveway to park overnight. I appreciate the way you present the reality. One way to cope with salaries and taxes is to open you own enterprise. This is the canadian way of growing fron a wealth point of view. As a person leaving from a salary, it is still possible to grow depending on your skills. But beggining your own business to exploit your skills will make you 'fly' to the next level, which is the actual way of growing. It took me a lot of years to realice this. Just think about it, provinces allow medecins to incorporate what means that they will pay less taxes and become richer sooner. This is just my thought, other people may think in a different way, I just try to give positive ideas.\n\nSecondly, Canada is still a country to live in a bit better than other countries considering many things happening around the world. I really dislike Canada now because it is so segregated and overly progressive. A large portion of Chinese and Indians are not a fabric of society and are outsiders in their own ethnic enclaves. I already left, and so are many fellow Canadians like me. I think your reading of the situation is slight from the wrong end of scope. \n\n1> the job of the Canadian gov is to look after Canadians. (Yes they allow immigrants but that is for the benefit of Canadians and not the other way around. \n\nThe house prices are intentionally kept high. Allowing foreign buyers to purchase houses while NOT living in Canada was the trigger that started all this. Canada receives WAY TOO MANY immigrants per year. The system cant adjusts fast enough. This drive the demand for housing and for rents. \nCanada needs to close access to land/house to foreign buyers, stop investment visa, and cease immigration for a few years until the system catches up to the demand.\nY'all leave Canada and won't ever give up your Canadian passport in case things go south in your new country (also visa privilege).

Canadian here. Allowed me to work hard, fully pay off my house and have a good life. It's not perfect here but many exotic places are shiny on the outside but rotten on the inside.

I was born in Canada but I'm married to an immigrant, a hard-working model citizen who is loved by everyone, we have a child together and we've now decided to move back to Japan. I will not have my daughter grow up under sharia law. I'm educated enough to know what happens when we allow Islam power. They will become the majority because, they use violence to attain their goals, and Canadians are too politically correct, too afraid of being accused of being Islamophobic. Many will think that it won't happen here, just as they think that they will never become ill or be harmed by anyone, but it will certainly happen. We are preparing to leave soon.

Aside from this war Palestinians, lebanese and Syrians are never welcomed in the gulf countries with open arms anyways. For example let's say a palestinian persons family works and live in Kuwait and they want to visit their family whether it is their parents etc, the Kuwaiti authorities will force them to apply for a visa the long and hard way through the Kuwaiti embassy. However on the other hand Canadians, Americans and British who are strong Israeli supporters are allowed to enter these same gulf countries with ease in a visa on arrival basis. lol...I left Canada 12 years ago...Canada is not moving forward, very little industries to choose, very little roles and positions to offer, the work culture is slow, lazy and dumb in general. Cost of living and tax is high. The government is not open to welcoming more outside investment or allow more companies into Canada. \nAnd having Trudeau as the PM makes everything just worse... \n\nThe only reasons I would go back to Canada, for a vist only, is because of the fresh air and trees and quietness. And maybe some food that I like...and to see my family. But that's all.....I moved back to Hong Kong, and then explored opportunities in mainland China as well. Honestly, after my experience back in Hong Kong it felt like Canada is at least 20 years behind. And after exploring mainland China, it feels like Canada is 40 years behind. \n\nSo yea, no plans to move back to Canada.....because even elderly homes in China now provides really high quality service compare to the ones offered in Canada, you would feel like the Canadian elderly homes are a prison for old people.

Excellent video. I am a 29 years old Canadian with high education. I make 125K/year and yet after 2-3 years of looking actively I still can't manage to buy a house near the city as a first time buyer. I made many offers but lost every time. The demand is so high and the offer so low that many people bid way above the asking price even though the prices are sky high. Most of those people sold their previous house for a lot more than they bought it many years ago and therefore, are able to do so. First time buyers like myself don't have this advantage and the ones with lower salaries might never have the chance to have a house except if they move far from the city. Our government does not slow down on immigration because there is a labor shortage due to the older generation retiring but they don't build enough houses and allowed foreign investors for too long which results in the housing crisis we are currently in. My father bought a decent house near the city for the equivalent of 2 years of his gross salary at the time... Now the equivalent is more than 4-5 times my gross salary even though I make more than him at the time (taking inflation into account). Our healthcare and education systems are falling apart as well. Both are currently on strike in the province I live in due to terrible work conditions and salaries from our government. The cost of living has increased considerably in the last few years as well, especially the food even though the companies are making record net profits this year. Yeah... Canada is not doing well right now.

No offence to new immigrants but if you came here past 2018 you should not be allowed to buy a house until house prices get back to sane levels. I was born in raised in a small town surrounded by farmland in Ontario and the average cost of a home is now 700k. 20 years ago it was 150k. No one I grew up with can afford a home, I'm sorry but Canadians first. Other countries seem to care way more about their own people waaaay more than here. I feel like Canadians are constantly the ones who just have to suck it up. Its absolutely nonsense. Either something has to happen or I, and many Canadians in the same position will leave. Canada sucks at the moment, do not come here! We have to bring in hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers from Mexico just to be able to harvest. In the past, Canada allowed immigration from all over the world of people who were mostly poor, refugees, and those desperate for a new life. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. In other words, Canada has chosen to attract high quality candidates on the assumption that they would be less likely to become criminals, while they in turn, having been picked from the best in their society, arrive in Canada with very high expectations, and discover that actually they're going to have to work in all sorts of other kinds of jobs and will probably not work in their field, even though that's what got them the points to come to the country. This is the brilliant system brought in by Stephen Harper's conservatives, which brings in people with high education, and allegedly high skills, especially high language skills, so the government doesn't have to pay for their language training, but it doesn't consider the fact that these are very often people with other choices, who are not willing to work in construction or farming or service or retail or all those kinds of things that we desperately need workers in. The reason why we can't build enough housing has nothing to do with local governments and property values. It has to do with lack of labor. This education system, for some unbeknowned reason, is absolutely terrible, and provides basically no skills, training or education for the vast majority of high school students such that when they graduate high school, their forced to go to university or college. Since they have absolutely no training. In most parts of the world you finish high school and you have a trade, or you have some skill to begin working, the kids here know nothing. Nothing. Other than emotional safety, intersectional language, and wokeism. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. Property and so they oppose everything on account of environmental reasons. But it's just to keep people out and preserve their own privileged place. This country also as most others suffers from the illness of dishonesty and lack of integrity brought about by a culture of marketers where nothing is the way it is said to be. Everything is a fine print. And we have gotten used to this as normal. We've gotten used to having credit cards, charges, 25% interest, we've gotten used to being ripped off constantly by all the corporations for everything, and nobody complains and they just borrow more and they just bottle it in and now it's finally coming out. Out. People are fed up of the enviral lunatics. They're fed up of people who complain and bitch one moment about the pipeline and then complain and bitch the next moment about the high cost of gasoline when the pipeline is temporarily shut down for servicing. The problem with Canada is Canadians.

Allowing foreign investment by businesses drives up the cost of housing. Better control of foreign investment would negate the upwards push on price. I agree that Canadian communities are not adjusting their building codes to allow better use of space - we are way to conservative in our approach to keeping people safe in homes - staircase policies for example insist on 2 staircases per building for anything over 2 stories - crazy outdated concept given modern fire prevention materials and processes.

What has happened in Canada is actually quite simple. Companies sell products and services. Companies require employees in order to sell those products and services. The difference between what the companies can those products and services for and what they pay the employees is profit. The owners of the companies want to maximize this profit, therefore want to pay employees as little as possible. Scarcity is labour is one of the driving factors behind what employees are paid. One way to decrease scarcity of labour is to bring in massive amounts of immigrants. That is exactly what Canada has been doing for decades. The owners of the companies take profits and invest it in real estate. This makes real estate unaffordable for the employees whose wages have been suppressed. Lower wages also means less money from taxes available for services like health care. We allowed our politicians to be bribed into allowing massive levels of immigration. Stagnant wage growth resulted in lowered consumptive capacity in the economy. This lead to stagnant economic activity and lowered investment into things that would make the Canadian economy more productive. What we have now is unaffordable housing. Lack of jobs. A failing health care system. An educational system where the bar was lowered to accommodate the lowest common denominator. Increased crime and substance abuse resulting from the subsequent hopelessness. Several families living in a single house. People working several low paying jobs just to try to get by. People with full-time jobs that are forced to choose between being homeless or starving to death. The immigrants that are still coming here are sleeping on the sidewalk in front of homeless shelters, or maybe scraping by delivering UberEats.

There needs to be a form of basic competency world issues and economics test before Canadians are allowed to vote.\n\nUnfortunate situation for Ms. Azizi. The problem too, is a lot of these professionals only get accepted to come because they have certain qualifications, but once they arrive they find out their qualifications are useless, and have to go back to school at their own expense. It's like a cycle to add profit to the Canadian post secondary system. Why not be straightforward with them before they come? I understand there needs to standards maintained in each profession, but why not allow them to be completely assessed beforehand and upgrade to Canada's standard before coming so they can join the work force. We desperately need doctors, they are here, but working outside their field because they need to provide for their families.

I had a conversation with my Uber driver last week, he was a immigrant from the middle east himself, we were both upset about people coming over here and not integrating into Canadian culture and society. He said he came here so his children could grow up in peace and prosperity, but every day he sees people trying to make Canada more like the place he left.? And the main objection a Canadian citizen might use to consider moving away is because of the high rate of migration, both legal and illegal. When population was 32M we allowed 25K legal migrants. At 40M we are expected to absorb 1M new migrants into a system that has sent most manufacturing jobs overseas, abused taxes and Parliament and many existing social systems are used to support the added burden. So the reason resident Cdns may seem standoffish is because the addition of a new migrant makes their job that much harder and further reduces the chances of home ownership or having a family.
