Some of these points are so spot on. Doctor's who only communicate by phone, difficult to move money across the border, overpriced phone plans - living in Canada you wouldn't even notice this because it's always been this way, but coming from a developed nation like in Europe it's really stark.

Interesting video - as a Canadian who hasn't lived in the country for nearly 2 decades : ) \n\nWhenever i return to my hometown (Burlington) i do notice an increased foreign population. First visited Toronto in late 2019, it was my first time in Canada - loved it!! Went for a family wedding, the taste of Toronto that I got during that trip, left a really positive impression on me - the space, it was clean, the quality of life looked idyllic. Then the global pandemic happened, I always kept up with the news of what was happening in Toronto and have noticed how it has changed. The crime seemed to just increase from out of nowhere, housing costs increased. My relatives and I keep in touch and they have told me how Toronto has changed.

As an American I have constantly heard how much better Canada is than the US. But I noticed a lot of things going on in Canada that made me question that narrative. It seems that people overestimated the benefits of Canada and down played the pluses of living in America. They did that in my opinion for ideological reasons because Canada has government healthcare. While healthcare is an important issue it is only one of many people should consider and they should consider them without bias when weighing the pros and cons of a country.

Most of your points are close enough, I agree with your first figures about net tax’s and rent expending, I tracked my expending by different categories. Pretty sad how a bunch of Canadians have passed by drugs. I’ve been 5 years here, adjusting my life style coming from MX and uncertain to remain here. I lived in Etobicoke from 2002-2020. Year over year, I noticed that the city is changing in bad way. I had to move out because I just couldn’t be there anymore.\n\nEven if I am offered a free residency, I would never ever come back To Toronto.

I'm only halfway through but feel I need to comment and well I'm not exactly a new Canadian. But I was born the but grew up in New Zealand. And well why not . I moved over there in 2014 with full rights as a citizen. My trade wasn't recognised. Canada has its own rules about everything. You need to have training to pour drinks in a bar wtf.! People who migrate from countries like Pakistan/India to western countries like US tend to follow their culture more than the people in their respective countries. Take a look at youtube videos from Pakistan and notice what % of women wear traditional head gear. The percentage comes down drastically in the case of educated/middle class people. Same goes for Indian people in US. Almost everyone teaches their daughter traditional dances from India. If you were to go to India, hardly anyone teaches their daughters these dances. Hardly 1 to 5% people whereas its kind of close to 80% or even higher in US. They think they are missing out on the culture and overdo it in western countries. Funny thing, Halifax is bursting at the seams with new arrivals. It’s expected to double in size in the next decade. There’s another ethnic grocery store opening every week. Our population has grown by 10 million people in 20 years, largely due to immigration. Toronto is bursting at the seams and is the most polyglot city on the planet. I have noticed a lot of these whiny videos by immigrants who say it’s no good to move here. I think they are not telling the truth about the tsunami of immigration going on here in Canada right now. Trouble is, there’s not enough housing for the 40 million people here right now. There’s not enough doctors, nurses, hospitals, social services/workers to service our present population. Still, the government flaps its gums about wanting 100 million people here by 2100. If that’s true, southern Ontario will look like Tokyo. There has to be a reevaluation of putting the majority of new arrivals in the GTA. If people want to move here, they should be willing to go to smaller cities and towns across the country.

I lived in Toronto during 2 different periods. 1988-1991 (Leaside and Yonge/Davisville) and then in early 2011 to late 2013 (east Scarborough and then Bayview/Sheppard). Yes, the city has changed dramatically. Even from my 2013 move from there. Grossly overbuilt. the hockey team should be called the Toronto Condo Leafs. Services strained. Poor funding. Poor political leadership. And I won't even touch the hot button issues. I noticed changes in 2012-3 and the start of polarization. Toronto has immense wealth and also immense poverty as we see now. Then again, big cities all over North America have the same issue.

Great video - so very very true, moved here in 2010, and the decline has been noticeable, especially over the last 5 years. I live in Mississauga and have travelled around the GTA and I haven’t really noticed any hate crimes against muslims. As a Muslim myself, Canadians these days are far more tolerant towards muslims or any other cultures than they were back in the day. I see hundreds of hijabi ladies every day and none of them get harassed or bullied for wearing a hijab.

I lived in Toronto for more than a decade and def thought it was a wonderful place esp through the 2000's and early 2010's. I noticed a huge downturn around 2013-2014. It was getting harder and harder for normal folks to get by even back then, and that people were becoming very frustrated. I ended up leaving in 2017 in order to have a higher quality of life elsewhere - tbh when I left I thought I was just getting old, and I wasn't cool anymore, but I moved to a different larger city and went back to having a great time, and the folks around me were happier. I can't say I'm surprised that it's gotten worse since.

I respect that your intentions are pure and you want the best for your children. I’m an Australian convert and have lived in Pakistan and Saudi also. There were positive and negative in all 3 of those places but by far feel that Australia is the best place to raise children. In Pakistan, twice while wearing full black abaya and hijab I had men try to grope me. I have a teen daughter and she enjoys certain levels of freedom here but I wouldn’t let her walk out of the house in Pakistan. Saudi was safer than Pakistan but had its own issues. You likely won’t agree with all the governmental decisions in any country you go to. I don’t agree with the government decisions of any of the 3 countries I mentioned above, if that’s a reason to leave a country then it’ll be a problem everywhere. Sorry it’s counter to your point but just sharing my experience. The grass isn’t greener. Oh and one other thing o noticed, in these countries your kids witness “Muslims” doing terrible things and it’s really difficult to explain.

I left Canada in 1990 and in multiple times back visiting I saw the quality of life declining. But most there didn’t notice much like the frog in the pan of water you keep heating up. Now it’s apparent to everyone and yet Canadians are so deluded by their media they can’t figure it out and think everywhere is like there or worse. When I tell them they are living in a ?hole they don’t believe me. So it keeps getting worse.

If you need any service in Canada, from medical (it's not free) to travel (one suitcase free, but only one way on a return flight- you have to pay to bring it back!), paying several dollars to make a withdrawal from your own bank(!), highest internet fees x worst reliability in N America, just prepare to bend over and hold that position until your legs give out. And when you finally fall, you'll notice your wallet is empty. Run, Forrest, run!

This is a very thoughtful and balanced review. As a retired Canadian who had a good job for most of my life, I'm saddened by the decline in almost all areas of life, lifestyle and and people's aspirations in this country. This decline actually seems quite rapid, I would say from 2015 onwards. Housing in major centres was expensive, but it has skyrocketed in the past decade. There has been a decline in many institutions: 1. health-care, especially noticeable since the pandemic that coincided with many boomer medical staff retiring, but also by our sclerotic institutions refusing to enable foreign-trained doctors to work here. Many foreign-trained doctors in the Vancouver area are doing jobs way below their qualifications while many people cannot even get a family doctor. Crazy. Econonically, there seems to have been no plan at all from the government as we exited the pandemic. At least the US had a plan, to 'build back better'. Our government just floats along as if everything is fine, when the decline is very visible especially to older Canadians. We have admitted 1/2 a million people a year from overseas, so our economy should reflect this and show an upswing. But no, we're in a 'technical recession' as of December and probably a real recession as of last week. I have never voted Conservative in my life, but Trudeau is a flaky dimwit with a famous name who has no clue what he is doing. A fool, in fact. He's mismanaged our foreign relations beyond belief, and nothing has improved domestically. When Pierre Poilievre says 'Canada is broken', I believe it. We deserve much better leadership; in Canada's case, the rot does come from the top. Justin the entitled idiot is much more like his mother than his father.\n\nLong rant. Bro it's impossible to make friends here. For context, Im IndoCanadian, born in Vancouver, and whichever friends one makes from grade school are the only ones that stay. Now, within my situation, I've noticed people who are not IndoCanadian are hesitant to talk with IndoCanadians because of the influx of Indian people from India, which most of whom do not speak fluent English. Its hard to differentiate between IndoCanadians who were born here with Indians who have arrived recently. Which means people are hesitant to talk with IndoCanadians since it's assumed that we do not speak fluent English/live with foreign etiquette. But whatever ?.

I live in NYC, and have been to Canada at least four times, but the last time I was there was quite some time ago. I always had a good thought about Canada, because it seems like some of the problems we have in this city, Canada also has in some way. Right now the city is a complete mess; at post pandemic and with a bit of a recession and a noticeable increase in groceries to basic things like cat food and tissues. That's not the biggest problem, it really is the legislation or lack of for people who not care for themselves. Those homeless people are almost not helpable and I don't feel threatened by them, but other people definitely do. The way the government has handled these undocumented migrants is a complete disaster and couldn't have come at a worse time. We have a serious housing crisis as well, and people can end up paying for high rent, for not the best places, but they want to live in a certain location. The migrants are coming in at about 60k in the last two weeks. You see mothers with little kids or babies selling candy all over the trains and it's becoming too much. Many see it as a form of child abuse or exploitation and we do not respect it at all. I think they feel we are weak and will just pay double for something we don't need. At one station today I must have be approached 3 times and interrupted 2 times while using my phone. It's just too much and we already have a lot of immigrants here, so I'm not sure where these people believe they will find any meaningful employment and the cold is coming. I wasn't born here, but came legally as an infant. I think the border situation is a disaster and it's obvious to a lot of people that the government lets things happen that will definitely effect citizens in the next couple of decades. The city is crowded enough and I do not know where this is all going, people do not want undocumented migrants house a few hundred feet from a childrens school. I just don't understand how they let this happen....I guess this is how Biden does things and all the groups that cheered buses pulling in when it first started are dwindling down....they just want them passed on to someone elses responsibility, but wouldn't want them as neighborhors necessarily. It's a lot of hypocrisy here. Canada seems better in some places, and the same in others.

As a born and raised Canadian of immigrant parents, i have definitely noticed the increasing influx of people leaving this country in recent months. This issue has popping up more in the news, just around this year. Canada needs immigrants, thats true for the long term it will benefit the country, but right now its more of the drawbacks that are manifesting. Accepting More immigrants means that more resources are needed, that means and so many tax paid social services and benefits like housing, healthcare, welfare, citizenship applications, waitlists, wait times, lineups, everything is getting longer and pushed back. I get what everyone feels.

Since starting to watch your videos, a couple months back, I’ve noticed way more Muslims coming to where I work and I work it real Canadian superstore in British Columbia in Toronto. It’s called Loblaws.

I leaved in Canada for over 20 years and noticed the drastic changes you mentioned. I still have 4 of my kids in Canada, They are grown up and have their own families now. As I traveled to few places for professional raison I always been on family status because I wanted to be close to my wife and 6 children. The best place I liked is the sultanate of Oman. It’s a conservative Islamic environment and people are very respective, very nice and welcoming. The only thing that bothers a bit is the heat in summer time but other than that it’s the best place in the world. By the way 3 of my children are planning to leave Canada to one of the gulf countries and I wish them good luck. May Allah guide you to the right path and place to rise your kids and practice your faith at ease.

Totally agree with you. I’m a Muslim as well and I don’t live in a western society, I’m living in my country that is conservative and there is none of these woke agendas and liberalism being forced on us, but I do have relatives who live in the US and Canada and they are thinking about coming back for the same reasons you mentioned. They don’t want their children to be victims of these agendas that are being forced on them to accept in schools right now, they are noticing how society over there is failing, Islamophobia and hate crimes against Muslims is rising, and they don’t want to live in a country that sends billions of dollars to support an apartheid occupying state to commit genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, they just don’t want their tax money to be sent to war criminals. May Allah make it easy for you and hopefully you’ll find a perfect place and a perfect Muslim environment so that you can raise your children. I do suggest you to go live in one of these Gulf states especially Saudi Arabia where healthcare is free, education is free, zero taxes, zero crime rates, and most importantly, you can practice your deen freely and you don’t have to worry about your children.

As happy as I am for your family, I am kind of worried about how much disappointment you will experience seeing Muslims are not as nice with their fellow Muslims, and if you dont notice it exepriencing discriminations here, it is even more concerning
