I'm from the USA, and I stand with Canada. There are far too many ignorant Americans who have taken everything for granted. They have no idea how much we depend on our allies and partners across the globe. It's time for America to learn that we are not the mightiest, or the greatest if we stand alone.

As a Canadian I’m still not clear on how counter tariffs help Canadians? Won’t this just make things more expensive for us? Shouldn’t we just realign our allies for imports/exports? Can someone help me out here? Don’t tell me it’s just because we need to respond in kind so not to be ‘bullied’. You’ll need to do better than that. Seems like only governments win in tariff wars - not their citizens.

Trump wants to promote and impose his MAGA at the expense of America's allies. So early in his presidency, he has already met huge protests at home and abroad. He is starting to become a tyrant.

America is going to feel real soon, that they needed their allies maybe even more then their allies needed them. Because strength doesn't come from one nation, it comes from unity.

I think they’ve come up with a plan to divide the world between three empires - an American empire, a Russian empire, and a Chinese empire. Trump gave it away when he accused Zelenskyy of potentially starting WW3 if he doesn’t give Russia what it wants. \n\nWe’ve already had several threats from Putin that he’d use nuclear weapons to protect Russia if other countries ally with Ukraine and send their own military to assist Ukrainians. Trump once again proves he’s a Russian asset as he parrots Putin’s threats. \n\nAlso, prepare yourself for the China-Taiwan war. Putin and Trump will stand down their navies.

Closest ally that allows China inroads into the hemisphere through business and drugs. Yeah right. Those tariffs are reciprocity tariffs. As in we are charging YOU exactly what you are charging US. Stop the imbalance and the tariffs go away. BOOHOO so unfair!

As an Australian I stand with Canada as a British Commonwealth nation and a respected ally. Trump wants to mark his leadership as the “Greatest US president” by annexing Canada and Mexico. This is USA risking WWIII to enrich Trump and his sycophants with oil, minerals and weapons sale.

Canada is not America's ally or friend. Ally/friend suggests equal partner. Canada is America's junior partner, a sidekick at the best. Canada blindly signed up for whatever war America was in, regardless of how ridiculous the war was, such as the 2003 invasion of Iraq. There is a simple solution to the trade war: join US as the 51st state and all tariffs will be gone. This is what Trump wants and he is serious.

Trump does not see Putin/Russia as an enemy. Trump is making Russia a USA ally and our allies our enemies. The sooner world leaders and American citizens come to terms with that and start calling it what it is, the sooner something can start to be done about it.

Why not tariffs on China….they are the biggest producers of fentanyl….\nPlus they routinely steal intellectual properties from American companies. So it makes no sense to punish our allies rather than our enemies.

I'm reading through the comments and one thing is very clear. We need to impeach Donald. He's not serving the interests of Americans but rather treacherous dictators like Putin, by hurting long standing and mutually beneficial relationships with our best and closest allies.

I served alongside Canadian military when I served in the US military. They were very tough, honorable, and outstanding professionals. I have friends and family from Canada, and they love America. This trade war is so sad and so devastating for so many Americans and Canadians. These tariffs are so stupid, it's beyond reason. Trump is treating America's best friends and allies like enemies!
