For the first part of the video - I think you need to understand that the British did not give preferential treatment to their Canadian colony. Infact all the whites there were Britishers or Frenchmen. They treated Canadian indigenous people way worse than Indian subjects to the point that they became largely extinct

When you think about why a country would keep its doors open to immigration, you can kind of picture the life as an immigrant in that country. Though Canada is not a coutry that's been around for a year or two, population still at only around 38 million, they still need a lot of labor force and tax payers to further develop as a country and maintain the current level of welfare I assume. As everything is give and take in life, what you look for in immigration is well matched with what you can offer as an immigrant, everything works out fine. If you want leisure and take advantage of their civilization only, however, you either need to have enough wealth to cover or contributed to the society so much that you deserve a life of those that have already contributed building that country to the level that it is at. I think that only makes sense.

1) Dont go abroad with the mindset that you are going to live the same life you live here. You cant. \n\n2) dont expect it to be a plug and play experience like moving from indian city to another. You cant pack your life in 8 suitcases and go to a place which has many different requirements in terms of neccesities of life and system of living eg weather, clothes having car, different way of shopping, eating,doing household chores, accessing systems like health care, school etc. \n\n3) dont go thinking that all the things you need there are available to you or even that you will know/recognise what you need to settle down there. \n\n4) unless you are super rich dont think you can afford to \nHave all the necessary things to live the average life there. You wont. It takes 2-6 years to aquire all that. \n\n5) Don't go with the attitude of keeping parallel life back in India to run back to. Then you will never settle down to do what you need to do there. \n6) Also in most cases no matter your age you will be like a young graduate on their first job away from fathers home and all the struggles they have you too will have almost similar struggles. \n7) give it alleast 2 years whole heartedly ( not keeping one foot in India) then only then you will know whether you really like it or not.

Those that think and keep saying that Toronto is a 'World Class city' need to give their head a shake...it's a shit hole. Crime is through the roof and pushing outwards towards other areas of the GTA; the defacing of buildings and other structures is saddening, just can't wait for the Docklands project to turn into just another shit hole .The police don't care, cyclists and drivers have turned this place into a hell hole to get around, traffic is at a standstill. I came here in 88, I moved to the outer GTA and even that is experiencing guns and gangs and increasing crime. Canada is a good country to live in. If you come to Canada to work you need proper paper work. You can't come to Canada on a visitor visa and expect to work. What those agencies are doing is giving visitor visas. You will suffer out there before you get a work permit as a refugee. For sure being here you need a good paying job but if you get minimum wage then you have to work two jobs and work a lot to make ends but. Good thing is there is always a job out there for you if you are hard working or be ready to study for a better paying one. Be ready to pay taxes too. The more you make the more taxes you pay and if at tge end if the year you've made more but payed less taxes then you owe the government. But all in all its a good country to stay no regrets.

What were his goals before moving to Canada ?\n\nPeople need to realize a country like Canada will not give you wealth but will provide you a space for growth. You will struggle If you don’t have the following \n1. Employable skills \n2. Personal integrity \n3. Ability to build a healthy social network \n4. Patience. As the child of immigrants, i think this is a perspective a lot of Canadians are facing. I could never bring myself to leave, most people my age are the same. All your friends are here, the neighbourhood you grew up in is here and you're simply not cut out to go to where your parents originally came from (half of us come from parents/grand parents who immigrated) because the climate is probably 1000x different lol (I just know I couldnt survive South Asian/Middle eastern weather).\n\nI just turned 18 though so I haven't experienced the insane rent and stuff (as it's literally impossible for me to move out). Things will be better I know it, but the question is how long will that take? Id personally give it 5 or 6 years. We need to put a cap on immigration and just completely cut off the GTA from receiving any for a set amount of time (think 2 or 3 years?). We also need to amplify our construction industry (incentives/rezone some areas for development) and the government should start subsidizing urban development projects with an agreement that prices will be lowered, or offer money to people who are purchasing condos/houses (think iZev but for urban housing and not electric vehicles). \n\nAlso stop taxing us and simply start slowing down/cutting non-essential social services; a specific government program should be created that closes all of these at once for a set amount of time (think 2 or 3 years as well) and they'll be able to redirect the money to more important causes.

I’m a Kenyan American and this is my two cents….Moving abroad for better opportunities is actually not a bad idea but people need to understand that you need the right papers and an actual skill to make it….I’ve lived in Europe, America and the Middle East over the years, the hard pill to swallow is all this places will give you a job depending on the kind of passport you carry. I’ve had the same skill and the minute I got my naturalization and finally carry an American passport…there are job offers all over. My African peeps get yourself a good skill and become very good at it….that will get your foot through the door

I just think there is alot of problems where kenyans are concerned\n\n1. Rely on fake agents and their short cuts. There are accredited agents from developed countries who source in africa and asia but not the other way round. These are sometimes listed on official government websites. \n\n2. Don't fully undertand skills. They think acdemic papers and some random corporate jobs equals skills. Lets call skills, trades and ICT expertise; carpenters, plumbers, nurses, teachers have a better chance than some bank manager in Kenya. \n\n3. Rely too much on youtubers with random clips on things they need to train in like nursings and such over a short period then land in Canada and get a job. It doesn't work like that. Am a kenyan Canadian and living in canada is the best decision I have ever taken. Lot of kenyan are paying agencies to come to canada through visit permit. People should blame agencies who promise them jobs not canada government . When you come to canada through visit permit you need to change to work permit or study permit. Actually there are thousands of kenyan who have come through visit permit and they are claiming refugee status. Canadian Government is doing its part by giving all claimed refugees shelter and give the money for upkeep. When you have visit permit you can't work in canada but you can convert it to work permit which is not easy but an expensive process. You need to get a company that can process you lMIA that labour market Impact assessment . You need skills to get a company to apply you Lmia or uende China ya maji you pay Indians who have companies in kenya $30-$40 to apply for you lmia. Or you can convert your visit permit to study permit and universities here are damn expensive. Getting a Canadian to marry you for status is very hard. In short am trying to say if you do not come through work permit or landed immigrants life wil be tough use the money you are paying agencies to start something in your country. They are so many opportunities in canada if you have the right papers or status. As for me am a happy single mom who as accomplished alot here and I love canada .

The first mistake was giving up that rent controlled place. I have one now that I moved into in 2009 and compared to rent in this city it's laughably cheap.\n\nIf I didn't live here I'd be looking to move on from this country as well. I'm still thinking of doing so but I'll try to rent this place out when/if I do at a cheaper price than the market so I can come back if needed.

canada's healthcare system is an unsustainable scheme to the point where it's a scam. you pay all your life for these services and when you need those said services, they don't give it to you.. most people who need diagnostic services tend to die while on the waitlist.

I’m born & raised in Montreal, Quebec and while it’s extremely multicultural and has an incredible education system, we have been experiencing a continuous housing crisis. Every year the rent prices and general cost of living are skyrocketing yet wages remain the same. It’s actually becoming a huge problem in Montreal. Young people are being pushed out as prices are starting to little by little be comparable to Toronto. \nAnd don’t get me started on the hate Anglophones receive here. Even Montreal natives like myself who are historically English get discriminated against every day. \nThe Quebec government is pushing the English language out of Quebec, making it harder and harder for Anglophones to be able to function and live practically here. You can’t even go to the hospital and get service. If you don’t speak French you can’t call and speak with any government services, and even businesses are forced to have French names, and only conduct their business in the French language. \nI myself am bilingual, but for someone who doesn’t speak the language, or is learning having trouble it’s nearly impossible to live in Quebec as they wouldn’t even be able to get a job. The discrimination Anglophones receive is insane and we are seen as a ‘bottom of the barrel’ minority, which is so sad seeing that this is where I was born and raised and where I call my home. \nThey’re taking away more and more public & social services and literally funnelling multi millions of dollars of funding , which is desperately needed for homelessness and many other social problems we have within Montreal and it’s all now going towards pushing the French language in Montreal (we literally have what’s called the ‘language police’ who’s job is to enforce French. Hello brothers and sisters I’m seeing a problem here. The interest rate in the late 1970s and early 1980s interest rate was 12-18%. People\nComing now are in MUCH better financial condition then people who came then with nothing. The difference is two main things: many new immigrants don’t have the same drive and motivation that previous immigrants in terms of sacrifices such as not driving a mustang, but they also didn’t just settle for labour jobs, they used their brains and began business along side labour. Second thing is, the immigrant wants to see the result before putting in the work. If after getting out of the horrible conditions of India and coming to Canada, a country loaded with opportunities, you still have difficulties then you need to change your expectations and work ethic to match, if they don’t then don’t complain. Cost of living is not the issue, it is the false expectation that they give themselves. To be quite honest with you it takes most immigrants one generation not 5-10 years, so either start working smarter or wait to have this reflection of what Canada is like until you have lived here for 50 years.

As an older person who migrated decades ago after protesting in my old country, I encourage young people below 45 to FIGHT for your countries. Fight bad goverments. 7 billion people on the planet cannot move to the few western countries that seem to work and appear attractive on the surface, it’s not possible. A doctor has a target of about 15 to 20 patients to see per day and rushes you out of his office because the corporation he works for only cares about money and KPIs! You really aren’t allowed to interact with patients and provide personalized service. A pharmacist has to fill anything between 200 to 350 prescriptions, give a certain number of immunizations and see a certain No of patients per day. There is no time for niceties! A corporate professional May work remotely but has to deliver on so many projects he is up till 10pm and only gets up to eat. We have beautiful homes, drive nice cars etc but MUST work like the clock in an assembly line fashion! Most of us pay so much of our income as taxes we end up with less than 70% as paychecks! Things aren’t always what they seem!

Very nice conversation. Canada has opportunities for those who are capable to grab it. I was in real estate developments for 6 years during 2011-2018 started with $80k down payment. Until I build my 4000sqft home in Bluffs area in Toronto built few houses. It was a stressful time for many incidents. Dealing with City, contractors, finances is very delicate. All it needed patience and hard working to overcome the every challenges. When I ended up the trade after building my house during the pandamic using all the gains around $1.6m from the houses that I have built and sold. I realized I made $4m which is worth my mortgage free house. So, it is a journey from $80k to $4m in 8 years.. I witnessed many immigrants from South Asia got involved in the real estate construction and many has made few million dollars..\n\nTherefore, I would say to the new generation. Do not give up your hope but make sure you work hard and look for opportunities though it has become hard during these days..

I hate this so much. I know it’s not these peoples fault that their countries aren’t helping them but America isn’t even helping its own people. Imagine how it feels to be from the US struggling and then these people come and somehow our country has the means to help them when they won’t not can’t won’t help their own. What other country do you know of where you can just decide to cross their boarder demand help and say you know what I’m just going to live here illegally now. And if we don’t help them they have all kinds of ways to sue the state and demand help even though they’re not even citizens. That’s what’s crazy to me. They make you do a bunch of stuff before you can travel and some countries won’t even let you visit let alone live there with or without a criminal record but these people can just walk right in. Any countries borders are important they are there for protection. Ours are not being protected which means the country is not protected. I just don’t see this turning out well for anybody, not them not us. There is a scene from the titanic that I’d like to relate this situation to. The arbitrary aspect of the immigration system is the most depressing aspect of living here in the US. I guess when the system was implemented it may have had some use (such as being impartial to everyone by employing a lottery system) but these systems are pretty outdated at this point and only a leverage for political parties to throw gang signs at each other talking about how bad immigration is. I also don’t think anyone wants to solve immigration problems really, I mean even some of the nicest local people I know throw their hands up like “I don’t know” and I think it’s because immigration suffers from the same thing that many other problems suffer from and that is a lack of focus. Illegal immigration takes up so much time and space that fixing legal immigration seems like a daunting challenge and not at all worth trying. If I were a betting person I would never hedge my bets on immigration, I just need to have the time to digest and understand a lot of knowledge about how immigration helps me and my country. It’s honestly up to the Government imo to give it the proper fix it deserves but, again, why bother if it doesn’t help?

Canadian here with many American friends.....\nWe have frequent conversations about the fear of school shootings and the parents being concerned for their kids safety. The fact that you and your friends don't discuss it may very well be cuz it's an uncomfortable subject. The ones I've spoken with sit with me on the phone year after year and cry about having to buy the inserts for the backpacks having to tell their kids no flashy shoes cuz it'll give your location away if you move, needing to teach them how to hide to survive. \nI'm in a very large city in Canada and we have the drills here too, it's terrifying for us just having that part, I can't imagine being a parent in the states worrying about my kids surviving school day by day. And the risk doesn't end there, it's the start of day 216 of 2023 and the USA has had 424 mass shootings events in those 216 days (well 215 days cuz day 216 has literally just started). And that's just the events that have 4 or more victims. \nAdd on the ongoing war on women's rights, wanting to legislate who ppl can love and marry. We need to fix our immigration system to give immigrants a fair chance to become citizens, and I can only imagine their frustration being stuck at the border, BUT they cannot try to force entry into our country and expect Americans to stand by and allow it. If you don't respect our laws you won't be welcome here.
