As much as I'd like to blame it all on the Trudeau government, many of Canada's problems are systemic. Also at least some of the housing cost issues can be blamed on the previous Conservative government, who did everything they could to kick the can down the road and keep the house price gasbag inflating. We should have had a proper correction after the 2007/8 global financial crisis, but we didn't. However the Liberal government has done nothing in the last 9 years to improve things, and in fact the record high immigration levels have undoubtedly contributed to housing demand.

As a Canadian this video is only touching the tip of the iceberg. #1 Canada was built by immigrants (like my late grandparents) for immigrants, Immigrants regardless if they are here on a work or study permit are not the problem but the solution, always have been and always will be. However as the 2nd largest nation in the world by land mass yet with a population less than California, we have a lot of underdeveloped areas from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and that is also the fault of the federal government regardless of political stripe. In my 60 years here in Canada I have never seen things this chaotic or confused or angry or bigoted. I am guilty of some of this myself and I am ashamed. I feel frustrated at the lack of opportunity and success that we used to have here in Canada. I have placed the blame on others, instead of on a government that has no direction or sense of how to do anything except raise taxes continually only to waste it, embezzle it, or allow it to be stripped from the country and taken to other countries. Jobs are everywhere but employers know that immigrants are more disciplined, hard working and appreciative of the opportunities provided, when compared to the average Canadian-born citizen. I have seen Ukraine refugees taking money from Canadian gov later leaving back once the money is finished. I have seen people coming to Canada with Gov 40-50K once that is finished they leave. Safe supply is a joke while government is legalizing heroine. Addicted person will not blame the the drugs. They will always find someone else to blame. Fix housing. Stops Blaming students and migrants for your own issues. Drugs are free for addicts and then blaming for skilled people trying to make it here. People did not notice Canadian companies and culture are being DESTROY by immigration. It is a MUCH BETTER PROBLEM.

It's a double edged sword. The industry (fast food, food retailing, services) WANT those people, be it international students, refugees or other to work because there is insufficient response from the local population of young people. Even certain restaurants and hotels had to remain CLOSED after the pandemic, because they could not find enough people to work. The government covid money dissuaded the local population from working. It is a huge mistake to admit so many Indian students attending low-credentialed private colleges and then allow them to work 20-30 hours a week. Trudeau and Miller are to blame for this. But at the same time, there was a labour shortage due to the ageging population and the fact that people have fewer kids today. Canada should give greater priority to trained professionals in areas where there is a need, such as construction, education and nursing. People in India, China, eastern Europe and other countries can get very good training in technical colleges, but it is the wealthy families in these countries that don't want their kids working these jobs.
