What is very concerning is that Canada has fallen from 6th in the world in productivity to 29th! That is going to hurt the economy and the Canadian dollar for a very long time. Trudeau tried to base the Canadian economy on housing and government jobs. It wasn’t sustainable. The Canadian working class has been devastated and it won’t change anytime soon. I wish I could change it as I love Canada.

Do you realize how.many Ontario license plates are in metro Detroit unchecked while others are kept out of Canada just for visiting. Everything changed years ago, and no one said anything. This is horrible for legit hard working men

Typical media hack headline…..the majority of people are not against immigration, it is against the uncontrolled illegal migration of people into the country. There is a difference and the media seems eager to ignore that difference. Nobody seems to want to take control of our borders. Countries like Canada , the UK and even the U.S. will eventually be destroyed if nothing changes.

All people have the right to practice their religion but when you move to a new country, you can’t expect that country to change everything for your religion you have to adapt you have to share you have to compromise, and this is the problem with some people not all in different religions not just Muslims There are many people in society that take their religion to the extreme and that’s the problem. I can’t believe that these two actually expect or assume there’s something wrong with Canada because there’s no daily five times alarm that their prayer should be practised in every city in Canada at least two people speak very good English. This should be deemed illegal! There is a right way and a wrong way and this is so wrong. There is a reason to go through proper processing, so we know who is being allowed to live in Canada. It's gotten to the point I no longer recognize my own country anymore. People coming here and trying to change our communities, our way of life and our laws. If it was so bad in their country why come here and expect to live the same way as you did back in your own country?!

I wished to move to Canada 12 years ago. I am American. I was told that I needed a job and that job NEEDED to be filled. This would allow me to move there. I didn't move. Now with the migration crisis, too many immigrants at one time will overload the system and overpopulate a country. I fear with the climate crisis constantly reshaping our futures, that immigration will be an ongoing problem for the entire world. I believe countries must plan for even more immigration waves due to climate change. The Earth is changing...people will be moving to save their lives, to have a future. As human beings we must adapt to these pressures and changes in our planet. Make it livable, or else face the consequences of seeing millions of people die because you were unwilling to open your borders. There is room, just get rid of the greed. This planet , its peoples,must find ways to live together. Education, to keep the planet healthy, stop overpopulation, keep the air and water clean...stop the greed are the goals we must strive to follow.

I think people are missing the big picture. Canada does not want private citizens to be property owners,and especially not landlords who are earning income from property ownership. The struggle around landlord rights is specifically targeted to discourage property investment. As Canada does so well, the punishment is the process. This will not change regardless of how many 5min news bites are published.

How can you force a flood of immigrants upon a nation and expect a net gain for that country economically? How does the open door accommodating host culture (Canada) expect to survive meaningfully without irrevocable demographic & cultural change?

As an Indian i agree with Canadians as students were not promised the PR , they were only promised study visa. And to get pr in canada one must put in a lot of work and be eligible doesn't matter from where the immigrant came, protest won't change anything

Canada has to start recognising degrees from other countries. Here in B.C. we have emergency rooms closing overnight due to lack of staffing. We need doctors and nurses yet the barriers for those immigrating to get their degrees recognised mean many never qualify.\n\nCanada also needs to look at who we are admitting in and to terminate the family unification policy. When immigration was helping the country grow there was a different demographic coming in. Often it was single men or young married couples. As they came by themselves they assimilated into the mosiac of the country. When you concentrate on immigrants from one country instead of assimilating they setup ethnic communities. \n\nLook into what study groups have said that is contributing to gang violence. It's ethnic groups that have the grandparents, parents and grand kids all living in one home. The grandparents want the grand kids to adhere to their native culture. Unfortunately by time you get to the grand kids they are Canadian. They speak English/French depending where they live with little interest in speaking their ethnic language. There is cultural conflict within the home hence street life is where they find love and caring.\n\nSome cultures are not as community minded. Part of the high cost of renting/housing is based on greed not need. In my own community I know of apartment units now renting at 2,500 - 4,000/month owned by the same people that even five years back you could have rented for 500 - 800. There is no justification for that percentage of increase other than greed.\n\nJob opportunities. Summer employment for school kids is going down yearly. You see local business that use to hire students over the summer month claiming they can't find any workers. They bring in TFW yet Canadian students can't find work. You can tell the owners nationality of a business by the nationality of the workforce. A local store bought by a east Indian two years ago which at the time had a diverse workforce is now entirely staffed by east Indians. Yet who screams racist? \n\nCanada definitely needs to reconsider its immigration policy and bring in major changes.

But wait a minute !!! 1 million immigrants in a country as big as China and you guys are complaining. The whole population of Canada fits in 1 or 2cbig tier 1 cities in China , so their cities hv to deal with 1 million migration on a regular basis and accomodate for those changes. Wht is it do hard for Canada to handle 1 million immigrants ? That should be taken into consideration as a shortage of labor is alwaysban issue facing Canada at some point.

European here. When I was a kid the american dream - Canada & the U.S - was strong. As a 32 year old male born in Kitchener, Ontario. This mass immigration is killing our country. With so many immigrants from India that (as a whole, not every Indian) do NOT assimilate to Canada and our culture has us pretty upset. It’s making our housing crisis worse and killing our economy. Canada is not the same country I grew up in and it’s changing fast before our very eyes. We are losing our image, identity and our culture. For my argument, we get called a racist for pointing this out about the mass Indian immigration. They immediately combat us saying “look what you did to the natives” like come on… The truth is, we’d call out anyone else from any other country.

Scapegoating? It's simple supply and demand, and nothing can change it. Socialism won't fix it, importing impoverished people won't fix it, legislation won't fix it. You have to attract people with the proper skillsets to make the country and city better. Having a booming population and no room to grow doesn't do that. The California Bay Area and Los Angeles area has already seen the problems this causes, companies and skilled workers are moving to places that they can afford to live and build companies. With more people comes less opportunities, Canada needs to learn from the mistakes of others. Do not take everyone, take those who want a better life but can also give back to the country.

The countries of European nations are being flooded with foreigners, overrunning these nations. Places like England, Germany, France, Netherlands, etc are ethnic wellsprings. Just like Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India, etc, etc. Flooding these wellsprings with other ethnic groups dissolves the ethnic groups (the nations) of those countries. England should be for the English, Japan for the Japanese, Germany for the Germans, etc. If the ruling regime actually cared about respecting different ethnicities/cultures and their existence, if they cared about actual diversity, they'd be opposed to immigration. But instead they are destroying European nations - and places like Japan and South Korea are also in the early stages of this. Why are they doing this to us? It would feel more comfortable if the homelands of European nations were not under this same existential threat, but they are. It's alarming. This is horrific.

It was no coincidence.\n\nCanada today is a dictatorship. There is no freedom of speech, no freedom of thought. Just look at what happened to the truck drivers during covid-19. Or look what is now happening to Jordan Peterson now. What is going on is unconstitutional, and it is the government who is behind it. The purpose of the migration is to change Canada into a minority state just as it happened in large parts of the Soviet Union. This is the only way that the dictatorship can stay in power - and it knows it.

Most people in Canada do like immigrants and try and want to accept newcomers . I am happy to see new faces younger people, people with a different outlook. However this lack of housing is a major problem for poor and lower middle class people - citizens and noncitizens. Unfortunately rents are a racket in most cities, the real estate business is full of unnumbered accounts and money laundering; Canada is full of organized crime from all over the world, we cant control foreign attempts at killing our citizen. Thank God Canada is not an islamic country. Same if a Canadian moved to Islam, they would NOT welcome our culture and freedoms. Protectionist legislation to prevent foreign competition and protect the cartels means there won't be any substantive change under this government. Meanwhile the same government has increased the size of the bureaucracy by over 10,000 people in the last year alone while fewer and fewer actual services are competently delivered because the number of front line workers directly serving Canadians has shrunk. The longer the Junior regime is in power the worse the shock treatment will be.

I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

When I think about my time in Canada, it's bittersweet. I moved there for my undergraduate studies and spent 5 great years soaking up the Canadian culture. After graduating from McGill University, I had a tough time finding a job. Fortunately, I had the support of my boyfriend and didn't struggle with housing, especially in more affordable Montreal.\n\nWe moved to Australia a few months ago, and wow, what a change! I do miss my Canadian friends, but I can't complain about not having to tip for a take-out coffee here! As well as not paying an astronomical amount for asking for alternative milk!

This is SUCH a puff piece completely one sided that dismisses legitimate concerns as the only reason being xenophobic......Canada has always welcomed people but it was done at a lot slower pace where people had a chance to assimilate and build a life. You can't add over a million people a year with different cultures and pretend it's going to be ok. Ignoring the massive housing crisis, it's a culture crisis. A lot of the people coming do not share Canadian values, period. Canadians are noticing a massive change in the country they love seemingly overnight. You go out in any city and you barely see white people anymore. It's jarring. It was made into an amazing country by certain people and now it seems new immigrants are treated better than citizens. Everyone is in favor of immigration done the right way, but that isn't what's happening and natural born Canadians have every right to be upset that the country is being ruined in a way they don't want.

There is a distinction between legal heavily regulated migration and illegal unregulated mass migration . It's not economic reasons. Face it people and STOP being naive and politically correct.\nIt a matter of lost identity and lost culture. Canada opened up its doors to a flux of people who are not willing to embrace the Canadian culture and identify. I am an immigrant myself and could not agree more with it. The government is bringing in people blindly at the cost of jacking up prices to unbelievable levels for shelter, food and so on. Jobs are taken away from locals and has been handed over to new immigrants, our students are struggling to find jobs. Crime is on the rise . It almost seems like the they gave up the immigration vetting system and are bringing in people without due delegence. This is NOT the Canada I came to more than a decade ago. It has changed and continues to change for worse unfortunately. My vote is never going to a liberal ever again. They failed this country big time

Why let doctors and dentists come to Canada when they are not allowed to work in Canada unless they spend 5+ years studying and giving licensing exams? Most doctors end up doing other things. Either fix the licensing system or change the immigration criteria.
