I lived in Canada but currently reside in Florida. I don't miss the long winters but I like the summers there. I think the crime rate and health care costs are a big plus in Canada. First of all I'm guessing you are in Toronto or Vancouver or Calgary maybe Montreal, The most expensive places in Canada to Live for sure. I live in Manitoba where the cost of living is pretty close to the cheapest in Canada. Yes minimum wage is $11.95 and apparently going up shortly. Free health care you mentioned waiting 8 hours in emergency but you failed to mention if you need to see a specialist your talking months and you'll probably die first. Very interesting views. I don't live in Canada. My views, high taxes are unreasonable but at the same time it ensures that everyone gets a quality of life especially in terms of health care. Two weeks leave is ridiculous it is unreachable.\n\nI also think that all that glitters is not gold (in terms of leaving Canada and going elsewhere) I and a lot of people living in other countries would give all they have to leave and go somewhere else where they can work and earn money to buy what they need. Well, I live in Sweden and I bet we pay more income tax than you do in Canada, some of the taxes goes to health care, unemployment benefits, and your retirement benefits, Every welfare state is expensive, You may get more pay in USA but if you ever get hospitalised, you're in for a rude awakening, you should check, there are many immigrants here in Sweden as well and the weather is pretty much the same as in Canada. We get at least 4 weeks vacation here in Sweden. I'm from ?? and it's natural that after working many years abroad, many choose to go back to their country of origin at some stage, me I go back home to Jamaica ?? as much as I can but still prefer to live in Sweden, I never mind the winter months, I can always travel to a warmer country and continue to enjoy life. The bottom line is that it's your choice what you want to do with your life.

Well it looks like Canada is just the same as UK, expect I can go for private health care. You really shouldn't complain cos compared to 9ja, Canada is still a better option - electricity, water are 24-7, good roads, amenities, the government isn't corrupt, need I go on? Yes cost of living is high but that's if you live in a city, it's cheaper on the outskirts - nobody forced you to live in a city, you have a choice. You are complaining yet you don't want to leave! I would rather pay my taxes to a fully functional government that can provide great public healthcare, education, competent police force with low crime rate and overall good infrastructure. \n\nIn South Africa I already pay 41% income tax. Live is a security estate where I pay over $340 per month for the upkeep over and about my mortgage bond and property taxes. I have a car and pay insurance and tracker because I cannot rely on public transport. I have private medical aid because I cannot rely on public health care. When I have children I will probably send them to private school because the good public schools are few. What you are not telling your viewers is that higher taxes in Canada pay for the free healthcare for all which the US does not have. The cost of healthcare in the US if you happen to be poor and without insurance can wipe you out. This is the major reason for the difference in taxes. There is obviously room for improvement in health care delivery.

I couldn't agree with you more. Canada has become another one of those mindless Totalitarian states like American China, Russia, etc., etc. I spent 10 years in China working as a teacher. I went there because I was fed up in my country and when I returned it was worse than when I left. As I am now 68, if I can afford to leave again I will and I'll never return again. I told the Chinese who knew me I was returning because I missed the land, but I never really missed the people. Now that I'm back, since Jan. 2022, I want to leave again and I will and Never return. Health care in this country is in the Sh*t-house, it's impossible to get a family Dr. In part I returned for medical reasons, but now would rather die than have to deal the the Canadian medical bureaucracy - REALLY !!! My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! I was in Canada for 10 years which I considered lost years. Many of my friends also are in the same situation, we all lose our health, saving, confidence and many other aspects of our own personality. We can not blame Canada though as it is the same everywhere in the world. If you do not have to then do not move to Canada. As the regret is a lot after you do the move.\nIt is not the same for everyone also, but for most of the people it is not working anymore to immigrants to Canada. Excellent education system? Obviously a millennial who has no clue what this country used to be. Its education, its health care, patriotism. Ontario has become the armpit of Canada especially Toronto. 4th generation Canadian and this is the worst Canada has been and it's only going to get worse.

Don’t come to Vancouver Canada to study unless your family is rich. I run a rental business here and LOTs of international students either live in basements or struggle hard to come up with rents. I don’t blame them cuz this city is hell EXPENSIVE. Also even if you get a degree from UBC you are gonna get a job as a bank teller that pays like $16/hr if lucky. People suffer from seasonal depression for about 4-5 months/year. Better just stay in your country if it is not in the war zone and has relatively good health care system. If you can succeed in Canada you can do it in your home country. Not trying to discourage anyone but just wanna help people make rational decisions?

Quebec #1? Ha. Highest taxes, high welfare, poor quality health care, dilapidated roads that literally fall on your heads with pastimes being smoking and eating poutine. And all they ever talk about is leaving Canada. Reason housing is so affordable is because taxes are so high everything else is not affordable. I was born and raised there and as soon as I could, I moved out of there I was so tired of paying taxes and getting nothing for them.

I would dispute the cost of living argument putting Quebec at #1. I'm from there, and in Quebec, you have extremely high tax rates, almost no social services (since the health care system started imploding in the 90s and has the only such system in Canada that is almost completely non-transportable across provinces as Quebec refuses to pay anyone else or delays payment for so long, other provinces give up). Daycare workers don't even make minimum wage, the education system is heavily politicized and extremely poor (far too many teachers who couldn't care less about their students and do little work), rents are quite high in most cities, especially when you couple them with the high tax rates and the infrastructure is among the worst in North America. There are good points about Quebec, but I put it about on par with Montana or Alabama for what it offers the population, compared to costs. And then there's the wonderfully racist and nationalist government that feels it's a crime to wear a scarf.

health care in canada is absolutely not free.....you pay by having higher taxes, that way when your old and sick and need a big operation and dont have the money you dont have to sell your house, in the states you must have the right insurance so i understand. in canada you pay for your medications yourself unless your under an insurance plan which enables you to pay less

I actually don't object , particularly, to my high taxes in Canada. I do object to the fact that it took me , 15 extra working years to achieve a reasonable income due to the cost of an education being beyond my reach. Now that I have a reasonable income, I find those high taxes spent poorly. Dental care and extended medical or medications? Not covered.\n\nSo where do these high taxes go? Comparing my tax rate to the functional half of Europe's countries, it's about the same, more or less. \n\nBut they have better health care, affordable education and housing.\n\nAnd as others have pointed out, despite living in the biggest city, it's still relatively boring to many of the Major cities I've stayed in globally.\n\nI recommend Canada to immigrants who would enjoy a Rural or Suburban lifestyle that still has access to amenities and infrastructure. There are more opportunities in some ways, and the costs of living are much more affordable. But if you are interested in an urban life with what that has come to mean globally, the best Canadian cities can offer you is 'diverse restaurant options'.

Diversity is a weakness. See what did happen in ex Yougoslavia . Poor health care . I waited ajmost 7 years for elective orthopedic surgery. I have been here 45 years and if I have a chance once again I will NEVER choose this country. On top of above it is very cold here / almost 6 months /of winter. Too late for me now. It takes me 3 months to get a doctor appointment in the US here in Seattle and I was just told several months to see my eye doctor. Depending on medical plan the insurance means you do not go to the specialist without a referral. So Canadians may not have as much to complain about. My parents were immigrants to Canada because it was easier (my father was in Danish Merchant Marine and was in China Sea when his appointment would come up in New York). They did not have it easy because they did not speak the language and worked hard to learn. Working as a housekeeper was the norm for females and my mother's education meant nothing when she expected to work in a bank. Danes stuck together and helped each other to get jobs, with carpentry (most had apprenticeships like brick laying), to socialize, etc. and this is normal for immigrants. Working multiple jobs was normal and having a great home was their American dream instead of a government apartment. It is true for all immigrants that their kids will do better than the parents. The kids will have no accent if they learn English by age 12. There are age cutoffs on learning a language in child development. During the hiring process the jobs are given to people the interviewer perceives as being like themselves. This is proven by psychologists (I am one). This puts immigrants at a disadvantage unless they have a rare skill without competition. Dad got his house and Mom took my sister and went back to Denmark because of health issues and the US has garbage medical care and social services for the elderly (poor sister didn't speak Danish because it wasn't allowed in case it impacted our English skill). As a daughter of immigrants I worked 20 hours days and weekends almost all my life. I put myself through school and have been successful despite being female and making much less than men. Immigrants need to realize that it will be their kids who make the big bucks and succeed while the parents who immigrated will struggle. As a cultural mix (US, Canadian and Danish citizen because of wacky sexist rules) I have had a lot of confusion over the years trying to fit in and figure out what my values are. I have had to ask my US husband is that behavior normal? Of course different states in the US or going 200 miles north to Canada means a different language to speak (Canadian or Spanish in the South) and different values, ways of dress, etc. so being an immigrant can mean just traveling 200 miles north or to an insane state like Texas or New York. Culture shock is everywhere but most of us move for the money. I am thinking of going back to Canada but my home was Vancouver and that now looks like a hell hole. My husband had over a million dollars in medical care and I really do not wish to lose all my assets to medical costs in the US. So now I am trying to choose between death by earthquake in BC somewhere or death by tornado or perhaps fire storm in Calgary due to climate change.

Now that Canada is controlled by dictator-for-life Justin Trudeau (the biological son of Margaret Trudeau and Fidel Castro, leader of communist Cuba), Canada's future looks very grim for those who want individual freedoms and believe in rule of law. The country continues to be in lock down and will probably never get out of it. Well said. Me and my wife were lucky to find very goods jobs and have a good living here. Most of our time here has been during Covid. Prices are crazy, we can not dream of a house even though we are high income earners. No any real friend connection. No fun. Even health care is slow and it is scary to go for a test because of waiting times. Big lockdowns, forced vaccination, limited freedom, no functional society. For people who come from problematic countires Canada can be great. For us who just came here because we heard that Canada is great and we had no problems before comming here, is a disappointment. My grandparents immigrated from Italy and Ireland. They never got nice warm Canada Goose jackets, clothes, Nike shoes designer jeans, free English lessons or welfare. They paid there way, bought their land and found work LEGALLY, paid to learn English.\nThey did not steal unemployed Canadians jobs going through Trudeaus let’s hire out of the country so our government funds part of the wage. What we get are lousy heath care workers who barely understand or speak the English language and are caring for our Elderly and mistreating them. This I saw first had. I took my Mother home out of a senior home and cancelled home care as they never showed up on time. Would they leave there parent in a urine soaked brief for 5 hours as that is how late they were. I had to quit my job to take care of her. I myself am disabled with a spinal injure. The worst part of “Home Care workers” is that they wanted me to call in and cancel so they got paid. This statement gave from the Home Care nurse in charge of these immigrants working here. Seven of my friends, who are educated health care workers, which they themselves paid for, not paid my our government. They can’t get a job. The last job I applied for and they ask you status I put that I am a Canadian refugee in my own country. \nPretty sad when on Remembrance Day you have these woke individuals begging for money to help refugees. Quebec is far from being the best province in Canada. Montreal is great but their is a disconnect with the rest of the province. The biggest export of Quebec is young people. Once they graduate from University they leave as the job opportunities are in Ontario and western Canada. The Quebec pension plan now pays out more than it takes in. The academics and politicians are hell bent to push the ‘vive la Quebec and French Uber alles’ that it turns off business and industry. An example is the pharmaceutical industry was all headquartered at one time in Quebec and it moved out to Ontario. The personal income tax rates are higher than most provinces and health care is not the best either.

I would be honest with you most of people who leave Canada can have a good life in their home countries (mainly people who say this are from Europe or advanced country in Asia ), well if in your home country you can't make a life at all then what's the point of going back and what I'm taling about here is mainly African countries where everything is expensive and scarce, us living in third country we can even make enough money for a cost of flight alone in a one year of work, wages here can come to be 50$ USD a month that's if your lucky (and not even to say that you will spend most of them on food and health care)

I do not want to bad talk Canada I was born here but everything you said in this video is correct.\nMy fiancee is from Belarus. When I went there I got better health care treatment.\nExample in Canada you have to be recommended by a doctor to see another doctor or you can not find out what is wrong with you.\nBut in my opinion I still think Canada is a better place to live because other countries are struggling more.

Having a military spouse we have moved many times across Canada. I was born in the province of Québec and have live in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. I agree with Québec rating, British Columbia should be higher Vancouver Island is amazing and Alberta should be lower. Yes! Nice summary of the main challenges. Reading some of these comments leads me to believe that if one is motivated solely by money, Canada is not a great choice for you as an immigrant. The number of commenters hoping to move to the US from Canada due to greater opportunities to make money while ignoring the real and substantial disadvantages of living south of the borders just emphasizes this. My family are immigrants from the US and we didn’t face the same challenges as immigrants from countries further afield but I do understand the differences between the two countries very well and can state unequivocally that moving to Canada was the best decision our family made. Lower crime, better health care (yes even with the wait times), a fairer system and a “boring” but sane political system more than compensate for the few extra dollars I would make south of the border. In terms of where better prospects going forward for children and grandchildren, with the looming threat of climate change, Canada wins hands down. Extra income means little if you have to spend all of it on personal security and health care deductibles. So if you are only motivated by top line items like gross annual salary, Canada might not be for you and you would be better off looking elsewhere and leaving that immigration spot open to someone who can appreciate the more balanced offering that a new life and future in Canada can offer.

I am an immigrant from Korea. I have a decent life here but i find that it is getting harder especially with housing price and cost of living. I am thinking about going back but Korea is as expensive as Canada. However, I found that Korea’s health care system is much faster and more advanced. I like the nature here in Canada a lot more though.

Canada is the best. Free health care and maple syrup for all. Go Maple Leafs and Toronto is a beautiful city with Ottawa as my favorite.

In Canada, We also have the loonie (one dollars coin) and toonie (two dollars coin). Also have ketchup chips. Free health care to a point.
