But we have an Islamic environment here, with many mosques (except in Bali, where the majority of the people are Hindus).\nIt's cheap to live here, but not with the education. Even international Islamic boarding schools are so expensive here. If you can get a good job in Jakarta with a good company, you better stay here. \nI'm not sure it's cheap or not, but you can pay min 250 to 430 dollar per month for nanny or helper to clean the house. \nAnd for the weather, we only have two. Summer and rain. Sometimes it rains in the summer. And sometimes it's very hot during the rainy season. Hahahaha. Great Decision!! Literally the Job market and housing crisis is the worst here. Like our generation won't be able to afford a proper 3BHK house in Toronto. Like a 2,000 square feet small house is around $1.5 to $2 million. Even with a $50k to $100k stable jobs will force you to stay at your mom's basement. Every month you must pay car insurance is $600 the least.

I cant blame you for the cold. I dont love the winter either. I moved back to the cold winter from the coast and boy do you get spoiled on either coast of canada for weather! I just dont like to be cold. If I could move to the USA, preferably texas. I would go. In terms of living costs, its sad how many canadians dont understand that places like BC and ON have been pricey for a long time. Its new in other provinces to be this expensive and AB, SK, MB, QC. While some of those provinces are more expensive than others, they're new to the super high prices and many refuse to recognize how ON and BC have been paying these prices far longer then inflation right now, which isn't new either. While I'm not muslim, I am LDS and we are not a favourite religion in society either. We get chastised all the time and nobody bats an eye. I've been insulted by employers, our church buildings have been set on fire. I still have to explain why my faith doesn't believe in working on sundays (as employers want that these days). I think some religions or non religious dont want to recognize what we get put through too. Even though we can relate to muslims in our own way. My faith enjoys serving communities with the muslims, I have worked with muslims and many are just the kindest people! The first president of our church got murdered and our people got chased within the USA and americans seem to believe that this doesn't happen in their own country but the same hate has and continues to happen in my faith. So I can understand, we face a lot of rejection when we speak about our faith. I can understand in my own way how you feel.

My family moved 22 years ago from Mumbai to Toronto…while the struggles said on your channel are real, there are also perks which I feel like you didn’t get to experience. If people have good jobs, stable family life then DON’T move…culture shock is huge that people moving from India don’t consider, just by wearing and eating western food doesn’t make you western! \nThere are sacrifices to be expected which you don’t realized as your great grandparents or grandparents might have made when they started out! \nMoving to another country is never easy, unless you’re loaded with $$$. People in India are lazy as they have people working for them and don’t realize how difficult it is living outside of that lifestyle (not everyone in India can afford housekeepers, cleaners). Being independent and doing things on your own has its own positive (just need to figure it out). \n\nI have worked in healthcare for 16 years and let me tell you…social system works better as everyone gets the health service without being judged about $$. Healthcare is based on priority around the world but people don’t understand this as they feel like their problem should be attended first no matter what! \nNot all drugs are legal in Canada, marijuana is legal though with acceptable limits…you probably were misinformed about drugs! Teach your kids about right /wrong when it comes to drugs, smoking, alcohol and that’s the best you can do! I know people who live in India and do all that which you mentioned you were worried about for your kids. \n\nWhat you experienced was a classic case of culture shock and your expectations didn’t match the reality! Moving away from family, changing lifestyle and being responsible adult (doing things on your own rather than relying on workers) is difficult but doesn’t make the country bad that have you an opportunity to settle! Don’t take things for granted even while you live in India…appreciate the effort that goes into everything- keeping roads clean, people working hard, etc. \n\nBest advice I can give to those considering moving to any foreign country is: Keep an open mind, be ready to work hard and visit the country you want to move to before you make the grave decision of uprooting everything! Things usually turn around and get better after 5 years mark- focus on upgrading your education if you have a basic degree from India (even you know how competitive things are in India, so how can western world not be!)\n\nBeing vegetarian- things are tough when it comes to food but living in Toronto has never been an issue. Even people living in India avoid outside food due to hygiene reason which is not a problem in Canada as food inspection is pretty strict (having worked with ministry of health). \nCities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, etc has variety of food options (including veg)…just have to be really open to trying other cultural food (Asian, Mediterranean, Italian,Mexican, etc). My parents are strict vegetarians and have never truly struggled when they are out. \n\nCost of living is definitely higher as the standard living is higher compared to India. Education (until grade 12) and healthcare are free (in reality, you pay tax for it), you get pension when you retire (based on your contributions and type of jobs you had)…you failed to navigate the system and I will say having family around is why you didn’t take opportunity to explore and learn on your own. \n\nPlease don’t come to Canada and make life difficult for other Indians who choose to willingly accept the culture and lifestyle here after going through this hardship- cost of living and housing has gone up dramatically in major cities because of immigration influx! If you’re serious about moving and putting up, only then move! Otherwise all the best for your future endeavours!

Indians like myself have opted out of working at Canada because \n1) It is costly to live here\n2) Canada harbours and provides safe haven to Pakistani and Khalistani terrorists that are a threat to Indians, specially Hindus living there. Their presence is a net negative for any society that wants to live peacefully (Not just for Indians/Hindus). \n3) Healthcare, house help services,real estate are really easy to avail in India. So you're at peace even with lesser pay and can focus your time on doing other things or simply relax.\n\nOne of the kids from our family this year avoided going to Canada for his masters only due to these reasons. Canada sucks. I graduated 7 years ago and never found steady work in my field. Best I got was a half year contract. And then I learned that even if you make 5500$ a month, your gross pay will look more like 3200$ once the government takes its cut. And for what??? What do they actual provide to Canadian citizens? NOTHING. The only people getting anything from the government are drug addicts, refugees, and boomers. Canada is a country where everything is expensive and you get paid shit. The people suck, the culture sucks, the weather sucks...I cannot think of a single upside of living here (except maybe that it's not a religious shithole and women aren't treated like cattle).

Most of my life I lived in a country where you have to pay for healthcare to get higher quality or next day appointment. And looking at Canada I still prefer it more than free healthcare with waiting up to 6 months without having any private alternative. I better pay to fix my health as fast as possible. I arrived in Canada when I was 5 and been here for almost 50 years. I think people forget how much the original folks struggled. You hardly found an Indian store and were discriminated against. I think you made some valid points Canada is heading in the wrong direction and we need to blame the government. We don't even have affordable housing or Healthcare to support the increase in immigration. These no name colleges are making money at the expense of poor students. These students then have to work in low paying jobs. I really don't see any scope for some of these students. Think twice before coming to Canada because even I am thinking about leaving this country now...high taxes and it will only get worse!!

Healthcare: Governments have fkked this up. Admittedly, there has been a problem with nurses and overtime, but we are seeing the Alberta government attacking healthcare workers and allowing them to have also be subjected to the ignorant and misinformed attacks from the far right base over vaccine issues. Unvaccinated people caused more grief than was necessary when hospitals were being overwhelmed. \nTrain more doctors and nurses. Pay for their entire education. Pay them a healthy salary with reasonable workloads. Government should be paying for medical administration costs, rather than having every doctor and NP reinvent the wheel. Let the medical people do their primary job. Pay rural docs and nurses appropriately for having to endure the small town folks and farmers who think that only certain people are worthy. Privatized (and even profitized) healthcare solutions have become a nightmare for Americans who are not well off. And yet, we see our far right A hole political parties trying to push for this.

With 9 month of experience, I am truly considering going back to my country, here you cannot get a job related to the degree that you have even having 3 years experience with. They will pay the lowest in the low despite the Glassdoor average salary. Add on the high living cost and complex extremely long hiring process, there is no good career path and is all about survival. They show a lot of grocery stores when they talk about monopolies, but it’s in everything. When I was getting my internet set up I found out only one of the two main companies in Canada is provided for my area (they do this on purpose). So I pay over $100 a month just for internet. And literally have no other cheaper option other than living with no internet. (I’m in a small town so there aren’t even any cafes or anything to pop into). And live alone. Another thing, we’ve got a big country, and I live in a rural community, so most of my colleagues drive at least 45 minutes to get to work, one way, because they’d rather live in the city. And this is NB so you can’t take public transportation like trains to get here, you’re driving on the highway to get here. Since the pandemic houses have more than doubled, I did get a raise, but it was I think 4% over the last three years. So cost of living is definitely increasing at a much higher rate. Before the pandemic I could buy a week of groceries for one person for $60, now it’s more than $100 for a week easily, and that’s with looking for bargains and reducing the amount of meat and fresh produce I eat. It can’t keep getting worse, because people already can’t afford it, so something is going to have to change before everything breaks completely.

Bang on with the qualification mismatch. It's very difficult to get higher paying jobs in Canada even with qualifications. People are leaving a lot of money on the table if they're not targeting jobs in the US. Also in Canada, you're not really part of an identity. The culture here is import as many people as possible + 50%, have them line up to work medial jobs and then take 30-40% of their taxes. The higher you get it's even more.

What is actually causing the problems in Canada is PRECISELY the expectations of a high standard of living absolutely everyone has, including brand new immigrants. To put simply, we have an incredibly spoiled population, a population that expects low prices for everything and has a terrible productivity overall and does not wish to work in the kinds of jobs that every economy needs in order to fuel everything else. Food production is the so-called inceptive value. The more food you produce, the more people can consume it, and this in turn flows through the economy to enable all the other kinds of economic activity. We have to bring in hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers from Mexico just to be able to harvest. In the past, Canada allowed immigration from all over the world of people who were mostly poor, refugees, and those desperate for a new life. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. In other words, Canada has chosen to attract high quality candidates on the assumption that they would be less likely to become criminals, while they in turn, having been picked from the best in their society, arrive in Canada with very high expectations, and discover that actually they're going to have to work in all sorts of other kinds of jobs and will probably not work in their field, even though that's what got them the points to come to the country. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. Property and so they oppose everything on account of environmental reasons. But it's just to keep people out and preserve their own privileged place. This country also as most others suffers from the illness of dishonesty and lack of integrity brought about by a culture of marketers where nothing is the way it is said to be. Everything is a fine print. And we have gotten used to this as normal. We've gotten used to having credit cards, charges, 25% interest, we've gotten used to being ripped off constantly by all the corporations for everything, and nobody complains and they just borrow more and they just bottle it in and now it's finally coming out. I agree about cash grabs. I own a house with a basement apartment, I didn't put it in, the previous owner from 20 years ago did. I recently got a new tenant and had it listed online, once I acknowledged it had been rented, Zolo called the city on me. I have to get the basement registered or evict my tenant or pay $25,000 for disobeying the bylaws. I decided to get the basement registered and they are telling me that I don't have 50 % Landscaping so I have to pay $800 to apply for an exception ( even after paying the fee I could still be denied, that's just a fee for the application)\n\nNo one within 30 square km of my house has 50% landscaping, that's not how the neighborhoods were designed. It's a cash grab. After paying the $800 I still have to go through the process to register the basement which is going to cost me another $1,000 plus whatever changes they ask me to make.\n\nWe are in an affordable housing crisis and this is the bs that I'm going through just trying to rent my basement. I'm not a slumlord nor do I overcharge for rent, the system is grossly unfair

I stopped visiting Canada 40 years ago because of insane or corrupt border control policies. I traveled to Canada from California to record an album for a popular rock star. My crew number 4 people and we had reserves a month for basic tracking in a studio there. We bought our own reels of 3 inch wide recording tape because the studio wanted twice the rate as normal and since my studio was a distributor for the mastering tapes we brought from my own inventory. Each reel of tape was 3 lbs and brought 30 reels. We got to customs and they said we owed money for importing the tape. Normally a reel would have been $180, and customs wanted $38,000 x 20, and would not let us retrieve it to take it back to the US side of the border. How can a tape worth $180 suddenly have duty of $38,000?\nIt was explained to me as the Potential Value of the tape which meant AFTER a hit song was recording in it. Most recordings are total losses and the tape cant used on a new project even if properly bulk-erased. They expected me to pay on the spot $760,000 in duties. I gave up and left the tape with them. I called the artist and said we could not do the project in Canada and we went back to California. The artist came to us a few months later and the result was a minor hit, and probably barely made its production cost since the label only distributed it in Canada. I talked to an international trade lawyer about what happened and he said customs officials were wrong in Canada but they are given full latitude with no appeal so his advice was never take anything over the border that I did not mind being confiscated. Sometimes they would let it in because it was going back out in a month, but likely they sold it off and pocketed the money. The US is corrupt on a federal level but Canada is corrupt on the local level. I moved out of the US 24 years ago have a much higher quality of life than is even possible in the US, and live very cheaply. Total cost of living with a very active social and cultural life impossible to duplicate in the US which as some of the least options for culture. And my cost of living is $1500 a month, less than utilities alone for one house in California, and that is for 2 people. Last month for example I attended world class opera, ballet and symphonies 9 times, and went out to dinner, in jazz clubs or dance clubs, visited12 top museums, and it was still under $1500 for the month. A pair of tickets to the MET in NYC for lower grade performance, sets, orchestra ad theater, was $1800!! $600 for tickets to drama for 2. Here there 237 drama theaters within walking distance of my city center home, and can walk anywhere at any time of day and be safe due to VERY low crime rates. Free medical is good. I am not citizen but still I had an operation and 10 days in a vip single room for $5300 and despite my insurance I had been paying back in California $824.month, it was going to cost me out o pocket $500,000 and one day in a recovery 12 bed room, and require paid nursing attendant for 30 days. The results were great and was treated like king.\nCanadians have lost control of their government but Americas are screwed regardless, with lower than international standards for everything, with crime, corruption in Washington, extreme cost of living, no access to culture, few if any safe parks. My adopted city is not only far more beautiful than any US city, my GF can walk, alone, anywhere in a city of 7mil at any time of day through any of the 600 beautiful parks open 24/7..at 3am. There are no homeless, and 80% of those over 20yo own their home clear of debt. No college debt despite twice the % of people having degrees. The rest of the world caught up and has surpassed the US and Europe in quality of life. \n\nI have only been back to the US 5 times in 24 years and each time I am shocked by how much the entire society has declined while most of the world outside of Europe, Canada, US, UK or Australia have dramatically improved.\nEvery year since 2008 more Americans leave the US to live elsewhere than legal immigrants arrive.

At first, I thought having a Canadian degree and experience might help me get high-level jobs, and I didn't think how I spoke or looked would matter when I had high credentials to show off. So, I got my masters & Ph.D. from the Univesity of Toronto, which consistently ranks #1 in Canada. I have a bachelor's from a prestigious university in Asia and had a high-competitive, well-paid federal government job in another country. Still, none of that was recognized in Canada, and I had to volunteer for over 6 months, 10 to 12 hours/day, in a research lab that led to a funded PhD program. I worked even harder during my Ph.D. with many accomplishments, like 40+ research and leadership awards, internationally recognized scientific discoveries, and innovative technologies. I checked all the above and beyond in various domains (research, teaching, leadership, business, engineering consulting, collaborations, etc.). Yet, employers couldn't see past my race, gender, age, etc., and refused to give me the opportunity at the level of my qualifications. Luckily, I managed to secure short-term work in the UK & the US, and it changed even how I see myself. I was highly respected for my credentials, given higher positions than I applied for, and paid 3-4 times more salary and benefits. Of course, bias is an integral part of every society, but my race, gender, age, etc., were not as big of an issue to begin my career at the mid-career stage in these countries as opposed to Canada. \n\nHealthcare: Access to healthcare was another big challenge for me. When I moved to Canada in 2010, due to extremely low temperatures, I developed hives all over my body, my eyes got red, and I coughed for many months. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with me and refused to give me any medication. It took us years to get a family doctor, and we got one through my personal network. In 2015/2016, I developed an autoimmune disease, and my eyeballs popped out. As of today, I did not get to see an eye specialist as they have only 1 specialist in the area, and the waiting time is for years for the first consultation. Every time the family doctor told me that I had iron deficiency, even when I insisted that they should run additional tests and they cleared, they were flagged. The doctor never diagnosed my autoimmune condition. Luckily, during my short-term work in the UK, I saw competent interns who completed my care. NHS is poorer than the medical system in Canada... they are understaffed, don't have hospital beds after surgery, or don't have stock of paper gowns, yet the staff are highly competent and caring. Within 1-2 years, they did complete diagnosis by sending me to various specialists, completed eye surgery, and even found a lifelong condition that was preventing me from realizing my full potential. Following, in the US, the doctors confirmed the diagnosis of all the conditions within 1-2 months and put me on two small pills for life. It has dramatically changed my life, and I have even more admiration for the medical profession. While in Canada, I suffered for over a decade, and every time, I was treated as a hypochondriac and never given a single prescription. \n\nQuality of life: Big cities like Toronto are mainly affected by high crime rates, overpopulation, cost of living, low employment, low salaries, etc. A few months back, there was a huge auto theft, and one of my contacts lost their Lexus car within minutes of parking. Despite being a scientist, I have no faith in politicians or individuals fixing these problems. The salaries are not increasing, but the taxes and cost of living are on the exponential growth curve. The ridiculous part is that Canada expects you to pay taxes even when you are not employed or living in Canada! I lived in London and Boston, and they offer a much higher quality of life and pay. \n\nGrowth potential: No wonder Canada, being a G7 country, falls at the bottom of the list in innovation, equal opportunities, economic growth, etc. It has a decent education system but, due to its inherent bias in the hiring process and monopoly of certain businesses, loses talented immigrants and highly qualified Canadians to the US, the UK, and EU markets. Unless there is a dramatic shift in policies, Canadians, especially new immigrants, cannot expect any positive experience in Canada except for being discriminated against and losing valuable time and money by being there.

It is not sustainable to live in Canada anymore unless you want to be slave for rest of your life. I’m an immigrant of two years from the UK. I have to say at the time of moving due to Covid everything was expensive throughout the world and there was uncertainty in most things. Myself and my wife now have our own businesses as we found that the system here does not favour immigrants in getting the jobs Canada claims it needs to fill. The reality is the government and unions don’t want educated people to fill mid to high paying jobs and it’s impossible to get jobs in teaching, nursing, doctors etc if you are not educated here. The government wants immigrants to populate and work the low paid jobs even if they have a bachelor, mba or phd.

Their hiring system is broken with 99% referral, long and never open job applications, pairing with unrealistic expectations for entry levels, plus they don’t like to train, cannot even get an admin job in a better wage with a BA degree. Many even locals are unemployed with gaps over 7 months, also they cannot switch jobs freely… Once thought I can leverage my skills for the country and together create a better community for everyone, but I’m wrong, everyone is struggling, sinking, and I think I can’t survive here as the rent is really eating me up. Glad I haven’t go for immigration to CA, and I will go back to my home country for my career path, batter pay and at least I can survive…

As a Canadian, I looked into becoming an auto mechanic. Its going to take a year of school, tuition and then, in your first year, you'll make entry level wage and have to pay $3000 in tools. You might even need a truck to haul your tools around. They keep saying how they need tradespeople in Ontario, but the licensing/ apprentice process takes so long for people to transition into. Every trade is so complicated to get involved in. There is a situation where there are willing and capable people, but the admin process is too expensive and bars people who are in need of paying groceries, rent and bills. They can't find enough millrights either. Its the same problem.\n\nYou've got a surplus of willing and capable workers and employers seeking talent, but the admin process inhibits the entire process. \n\nIf I could start apprenticing on-the-job today as a mechanic or millright I would. But, I need to support family, so instead I am working readily available joe-jobs. \n\nAll trade positions will continue to be unfilled on job posting boards, while potential candidates will be busy working low pay jobs in warehouses etc. just trying to survive. Ontario is idiotic! Back in 2014 they introduced the Ontario College of Trades which only sought to take admin fees from every conceivable profession. Here is the reality of Canada, experienced by both native Canadians and new Indian immigrants: No matter what your education, there is an extreme shortage of jobs for highly skilled workers. The result is that Canadian and Indian graduates work in minimum-wage jobs for all of their life. Rents are rising at 15% to 25% per year, but wages are barely rising at all. It has now reached the point where people are starting to live in their cars since they can't afford to pay the rent. Even 4 people living together and splitting the cost is not enough to afford the rents that are now being charged. Health Care? What health care, there is none in Canada; if you get sick you just might die waiting 24+ hours to see a doctor at the hospital.

It isn't just the housing market that is in crisis due to mass immigration, it is everything. Why pay 40% taxes when I can't even find a family doctor? Or have to wait 12 months for a simple medical operation? There is a reason skilled workers are leaving the country.
