I also didn't like the answer by the comissioner, because she told in a way that this is a responsibility by every country to take refugees. By this answer she provides the wrong signal to asylum seekers (that they can demand something from host countries) and also I don't think that it should be a respinsibility of the states, but their will. It should be win-win offer for both sides. But of course I think everybody would like to help to people in the trouble, but recources are not infinite everywhere also. And also there are a lot of imposters. That's why I don't like when governments provide too much social support for all. It should be, but limited. And motivate people to be independent.

He told me all of the stories of all the people he had to evict. All of them were evicted within less than three months.

I wished to move to Canada 12 years ago. I am American. I was told that I needed a job and that job NEEDED to be filled. This would allow me to move there. I didn't move. Now with the migration crisis, too many immigrants at one time will overload the system and overpopulate a country. I fear with the climate crisis constantly reshaping our futures, that immigration will be an ongoing problem for the entire world. I believe countries must plan for even more immigration waves due to climate change. The Earth is changing...people will be moving to save their lives, to have a future. As human beings we must adapt to these pressures and changes in our planet. Make it livable, or else face the consequences of seeing millions of people die because you were unwilling to open your borders. There is room, just get rid of the greed. This planet , its peoples,must find ways to live together. Education, to keep the planet healthy, stop overpopulation, keep the air and water clean...stop the greed are the goals we must strive to follow.

In Manitoba it’s a little bit easier but the RTB is such a drawn out process. \n\nYou need to have justifying grounds. Easy. They didn’t pay. You have to serve them their termination, with a minimum of five business days to vacate. This is where it gets tricky. You have to attempt at least 3 times on different dates at different times of the day. Usually around 7:00 AM, Noon, around 7:00 PM. If that fails. You have to pay to be allowed to post the notice on the door. After that you have declare they’ve been served. Then book a hearing which can take a month or more. At the hearing which can take hours or minutes depending on how well prepared you are, or how much the tenant wants to argue. \n\nOnce the hearing is concluded. It can take 1-2 weeks to get the final decision. If they’re told to vacate. They usually have 5 business days before you can involve law enforcement. Which then takes another week for them to show up. Finally the landlord can change the locks. \n\nExcept, the tenant can then file an appeal. And take the landlord back into a hearing which can take another month. If the tenant fails to change the verdict it’s final. Then you need permission from the RTB to send them to collections, which can then take months if ever, to get the money back.

Before Ford took office, cases were heard before the Landlord Tenant Board in a matter of weeks. Now there is a backlog of months and Ford is allowing it to happen. During the pandemic, Ford told tenants that they didn’t have to pay rent. Many landlords are exiting the rental market; thus contributing to the shortage of rental units. Ford asked developers to build more in an effort to alleviate the shortage. Over 70% of condo units are bought by mom and pop investors, many of whom are gun shy after hearing horror stories about the LTB. Without the lion share of investor buyers, developers are reluctant to build more condos. The Ford government has no clue.

Please add to this the many homeless healthcare workers who have great educations and are not paid the best and are told to wait for housing because there are more people coming to the country and the homeless healthcare workers are the ones who are taking care of the newcomers who are housed while the healthcare workers are asked to wait - some are even MD's who are waiting in their country of birth because they are self-employed and have to pay overhead , staff and medical equipment and supplies. Please let's house our homeless healthcare workers in all the major cities.

I got laid off 5 weeks ago ( no renewal of contract).. after 7 years working for that NFP.. I applied for snap and unemployment… while applying for jobs( social worker field)… first, they ask for so many documents… including my bank account….( again I was laid off .. not fired nor left my job, nor finding reasons not to work all those years ), department of labor had a mandated zoom meeting to discuss what I needed to do 4 weeks after I was laid off( like i don’t know)… I ve been working for years and paying taxes… a lot of them in NYC, I was also told that I have to show what I am doing to search for work and eventually should take a job( even if the salary is low..ridiculous)… I was also informed that I may get a call from investigator from DOL..they may call individuals receiving unemployment benefits($441 a week after taxes?)… to verified that I was searching and applying for jobs( even though I enter my activities related to work weekly on their website…..)….. meanwhile… people with 0 legal documentation are entering the US and living here, free snap, free housing, free health insurance!!!! Lala land!!!! Can’t wait for this non sense to stop!!! Every corner of NY , you see families begging for money. The student visa is being falsely advertise as a way to get permanent residency status by school operators. Here in Calgary, I see different so called schools operating in small bays on the ground floor of high rise buildings, almost the size of a convenience store. Now in NL, foreign students are protesting, demanding that they'd be given PR status, because that's what they've been told after finishing their studies.\n With regards to housing affordability problem, do these politicians know anything about the Law of Supply and Demand?
