In the U.S., immigrants always assimilated until the 1960’s and we had a “melting pot”. More recently, immigrants want to retain their culture and now we have a “salad bowl” of multiculturalism. It’s failing. We’ve never been more divided.

Way too much to fast to fast. Totally different culture here now. People are not assimilating.

Indian immigrants are destroying everywhere they go to. Pay a visit to Brampton or Surrey which are the two Canadian cities with vastly majority Indians. 80-90% of the population. Go and see for yourself the ghettoes they are. Plenty of vidoes on the internet with Indians involved in gangs, traffic violence, house break-ins... if you are moving to another country respect the laws, assimilate the culture and be productive to the society. If you plan on being a waste of space, stay in India

We are the ones to blame for being naive enough to bring them in with any expectation that they will assimilate. You don’t think these groups talk amongst themselves and laugh at how absolutely easy it is to infiltrate, assemble on mass and push out other groups in key industries so they can run them? All you have to do is look at certain cities across Ontario and you will start to see a phasing out of Canadians and the native culture. As Canadians are we so gullible to believe we would get the same welcoming treatment and patience in their respective countries? You honestly believe Canadians that are mistreated and not given the same opportunities and considerations in respect to jobs and worship in other countries that their citizens would fight for us and our right to exist in their space as much as we do for them here? Lastly do you people believe that the governments of the countries where these immigrants hail from would be worried about looking racist or xenophobic because they don’t care to accept us? I repeat it has nothing to do with racism here but we couldn’t and shouldn’t freely take in so many people anymore we can’t sustain this and we are absolutely gullible for believing otherwise.

Canada is INDIA! I am a immigrant and my family wanted to come to a diverse country but my ENTIRE neighborhood is INDIAN or MUSLIM. Indians are racist and bring their caste system and color issues and they do not assimilate because there are no Canadians to assimilate with. VOTE TRUDEAU OUT!

They’re not immigrants but invaders , let’s be honest a large majority of them uses the student visas as a loophole to get PR , with little English or French capability / understanding , and they will never assimilate themselves to Canadian Culture .

I came from France back in 2015 whith my familly when Harper was still prime minister at the time , really I'd say things have been really great , my family and I have worked hard to get to where we are today and have always wanted to give back to our community here but I am disgusted to see in 2024 what Trudeau has done to the country and to see that immigration is no longer as prestigious as it used to be. Unlike some people we have today, I had to wait 3 years with my family before receiving approval to move to Canada (after so many exams, appointments and waiting times). I did my middle school here until college and I'm currently still looking for work in correctional and when I see that people arrive here afterwards without being permanent residents, who are literally flooding spots at colleges/university and also jobs that are normally open for young canadians in their 15-16 (When I was in high school, my first job was at a McDonald's, and without exception, everyone there was Canadian. Today, when I go back to the same McDonald's for a cheeseburger every now and then, the entire staff is nothing but Indians) .As a person with an immigrant background, I'm the first one to say that there's a very big problem in Canada, and that current immigration, mainly from India, is no longer for economic reasons but to reunite families.(They do not, and will never, assimilate into Canadian culture.)Now that I've grown up in Canada for almost half my life, I'm already thinking about either returning to France or start over somewhere else if nothing changes.\n\nThe Trudeau government, uncontrolled immigration, dangerous idelogies from extreme far left idea, rising unemployment, and economic misery getting worse every day , gradually pushes me away from the country I love, Oh Canada.

These comment section filled with Anti-Indian Hate. \nCanadian Immigration system is a Point Based System which means who ever have higher points will be awarded the Green Card or Work Permit. \nIndians are super competitive when it comes to immigration ? with their Levels of English, Education, Social support from society, French skills and Employment in High skills and young pool of people. Indians assimilate in western society, without forcing their religion on to others, like many fake refugees from Muslim world.\nIndians commit most least crimes unlike many Blavk people.\nIndians don’t need government assistance like Natives and Indians pay taxes in highest numbers.\nIndians directly compete with White Canadians and that is the reason there is so much hate for them as others feel inferior and dominate power feel their dominance is in question. ?

Recently I took a walk at the famous White Rock pier in BC, as I've done over the years. But this time during a long weekend, I was shocked that 95% or more of the visitors on the pier were Punjabi families, most of whom spoke only their own language. I felt like I was the outsider. \nThis is the Canada that Justin Trudeau and his father had envisioned for the rest of us. \nNot assimilation, but asian diversity.

Essentially, they are finding ways to exploit their entry into the country, unlike my parents who had to wait patiently for years to come to Canada. I belong to an ethnic group. In the 1960s, when my parents immigrated to Canada, only a limited number of people from our ethnic group were allowed in. My parents were compelled to assimilate into Canadian culture to make friends. I had hoped to marry someone from my own ethnic group, but there were few eligible women. Therefore, both my brothers and I married Anglo-Saxon women. While I take pride in my parents' background, I do not live in a segregated community of my own kind. Instead, I reside in a mixed area and have no intention of bringing over 100,000 people from my village back home to Canada. Canada needs to restrict immigration until we get a handle on our housing and social services levels. Also, not all new immigrants should be allowed to move to Toronto or Vancouver. They should be sent to live in provinces such as Saskatchewan or Manitoba for the first 10 years. I am sure they need skilled workers. Also, would be forced to assimilate like my family did back in the 1960s because there would not be a massive enclave from their own culture in one area. Also, the reason my parents moved to Canada was their former country was Balkanized into different ethnic groups that exploded into a massive civil war. Canada might be in danger of that in the future. Certain ethnic groups don't tolerate certain policies that have happened in Canada. When they get to a large enough number all hell will break lose as they will have to culture and political power to fight back.

India has 1.4 BILLION people, so from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, there is No escape.\nWe going to have to live with this fact.\nJust wished they would learn to assimilate and learn to speak Australian English.\nAt the supermarket the other day, Public Announcement, had no idea what the girl was saying..

So many towns that were once beautiful have been ruined by immigration. The way the government has poorly planned immigration is the problem. It's not a cross section of culture's coming in - it's too many people from countries that have no plan whatsoever to assimilate or even treat Canadians with respect or gratitude. The real feeling, essence, the once awesome cultural mix is gone. We have so many coming here now who literally act and speak as though they are here to just take over and that will backfire for them. By the way, multiculturalism doesn't mean multiple laws. In Afghanistan, it's culture for 9 year old girls to be sold to 55 year old men but in Canada that's illegal. In the Middle East, men can have 4 wives but that's not normal in Canadian culture. Qatar still has slaves but in Canada, that's illegal. So who is racist, if Canadians want a stop to massive easy immigration? And who murdered Hardeep Singh Nijjar? Please stop assuming it's okay to have 20 people living in 3 bedroom house! Then it was the British and French, who were Christians. Canadians laws, traditions culture & values are based on Christianity. Canada is not founded on Islamic laws, Hinduism caste system, or any other foreign religion that goes against tradition Christianity or progressive values such as having basic human rights. Of course non whites can be Christians or at least respect traditional Canada values but the federal government is making no effort to assimilate the new economic migrants recently coming to Canada. Denmark is enforcing immigrants to learn Danish to help stop the ghettos of mirgants who don't respect Danish culture. The federal government has no standards for who immigrates to Canada and they should be voted out!

The issue is that majority of these immigrants dont assimilate and completely disregard Canadian culture. We're taking in the wrong immigrants and need to raise the barrier for entry drastically

The real problem is that Indians don't assimilate very well. In Fiji Indians were first brought in 1879. After more than a century they finally took over the government. This has led to 4 coup de tat. I personally wonder if Pierre Trudeau implemented a plan of social engineering in order to destabilize English speaking Canada. A very real problem is legislation that has favoured minority groups. The 1984 Multiculturalism Act has stifled debate on the subject and the Employment Equities Act of 1986 has allowed minority hiring quotas to discriminate against the majority. Just remember that it was Canadians that voted for this.

I am absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of Indians we have here. They do not assimilate and they do everything in loud groups.

The guy you interviewed who's parents came here and assimilated to the culture should be the model for immigration to Canada. The influx of students who came here on false promises by immigration scammers is not suatainable and has clealy got to a point where its costing the country. The system needs to change to protect future immigrants and Canadians

Immigration only works when they are willing to assimilate to a reasonable degree. When large numbers of people move to a foreign country and try to change the native culture that's called colonialism. I though the left didn't like that.

Here in the uk, being swallowed alive by this mass drowning of the natives is a frightening thing to have happen to u. The machine decided we would all be replaced by the chosen ones. It feels surreal. Im black and am seeing a complete white washing and replacement model is brutally underway. I used to respect their culture amd people. I don’t know why we would want to send an educated, young, willing to work, person back to India? We need workers, and history proves that the East Indians are hard working people that assimilate into Canada. As for the people that just want to come here to go on welfare and leach off us can stay in their country.

From what I understand, with Canadian Immigration Laws, if you are NOT a Citizen of Canada, i.e. a Visitor, you can be Removed from Canada, by Force if necessary, if you don't follow the Laws and Assimilate.

This is said very politically correct and polit explanation, but my experience living in australia, I tell you it's much worse place to choose. In west you are not free either and is extremely hard to assimilate. The social problems are mounting. The issue is that there are many newbies that have no idea, they do sacrifices but it may never pay up. For me I have left before and when I came back I even found it worse.

Canada has been the down the road of high immigration in the past, erven in the face of housing shortages. This happened right after World War II. To deal with the shortage of rental housing stock then in the large cities, the government put demands on immigrants and refugees to settle in agricultural areas and small town Canada. But, it seems today that most immigrants just want to go to the already overcrowded cities, especially Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal. Rural Canada is now facing manpower shortages, but has a fair amount of housing, as many small towns have actually shrunk in population over the years. and could use the people. Immigrants assimilate better in small towns.

2 generations of Trudeaus have ruined Canada. It started in the 1970’s with Trudeau senior initiating his policy of ‘Multiculturalism’, which effectively opened the doors wide for people, explicitly stating that it was Canadian official policy to support, respect, and pay for immigrants to NOT assimilate! Trudeau junior has exacerbated the problem now by completely abandoning any coherent immigration policy. We have no control over how many immigrants are coming into the country.

Man atleast indians ?? assimilate to foreign culture and respect them. They contribute positively in ur society, they are scientists, doctors,engineers , entrepreneurs etc.They are not saying that we will destroy ur culture, kill ur daughters etc unlike what Islamist does.

I don't mind them being here. The problem is when they refuse to assimilate and start to convert their surrounding to the belief and culture that they left behind. Cause that is not migration, that's colonization. \n\nIt should be a requirement for immigrants to learn how to assimilate and learn the culture, the language, the tradition, and the laws of the country they adopted and not the other way around.

We also have tonnes of those people here in Malaysia. Not the ones that came with the British in the 19th century, they've assimilated, it's the newer waves.

Lets not forget boomers are complicit in this. They reaped all benifits of living in a thriving homogenous country with good wages. They were able to purchase homes, have families and make a living wage. Now they expect younger generations to pay for them in retirement. We have paided for all of their excesses. Now not native canadians will be able afford any of those things because they are importing people to prop up pensions and benifits for boomers with foreigners who will never assimilate and do not respect canadian culture.

Go to your own muslim countries, why aren't you there already? You want western country advantages but you don't wanna assimilate. Talk about entitled. There should be zero muslims in western countries. Stick to your beliefs and live in the cultural zones this belief produces, încluding all its disadvantages.

South Asian Indians are fourth generation Canadians and are educated, successful and have assimilated with the European culture. The french lady should see Montreal, it is cool to see Indians, Chinese speaking French. Do you ask why there are too many Chinese in Chinatown? Sadly the new immigration are bad Trudeau policies that India wanted deported back. Others are temporary honest Indian students that are being ripped off by Canadian wrong policies of shameless cash grab. Assimilation for new immigrants could be something in common e.g. free classical piano lessons for everyone in school. Music and language is a great first step in communication. The drug problem has nothing to do with immigration, it is the result of their own culture of drug abuse and bad Canadian policies. Being an Indian living in India I can tell you one thing that mostly people who are not 'good enough' in anything pay lumsum amount of money to move to Canada. For instance, most of the students going to Canada for study, lack foundational knowledge that should've been taught to them at school. Take a GRE-like exam by randomly selecting Indians residing in this area and u will understand what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, the current Canadian govt knows this and capitalise on this problem as they have turned the education system of Canada into a money-vending machine. Furthermore, no skill development opportunities and lack of jobs intensify these problems as these individuals are never exposed in a multicultural urban setting. That is why likeminded individuals aggregate and live in silos. Lastly, for my Indian brothers and sisters, I would like to say that yall should try to assimilate with the culture rather than live in silos. That doesn't necessarily mean yall should abandon ur religion and culture, but try to participate more in various activities associated with Canadian culture. Like Im a Hindu, but I participate in Eid & Christmas as well in India.. We should be open to new experiences, especially when moving to a foreign country, one should be able to adapt.. just like one adapts to the weather, one should also embrace the culture.. Try talking to people who are 'non-Indians', have a genuine conversation, find out the history of the place and various other key milestones in the region.. mostly engage in amicable social behaviour. Holding grudge & closing doors to new interactions would not solve anything, neither for Canadians nor for immigrants.. Live and let live.. Cheers!

Too many immigrants. My family has been in Canada, from England/Ireland, since the 1700s quite literally with a plow in the ground. We have built this country up and into what it is . \n…. I went to Toronto the other day and I feel like I’m in some other country. There are way too many immigrants, and from countries that don’t assimilate to this western Christian country.
