I would love to know why immigration here is always about Indian immigrants what about the rest of us so sick and tired of this! been here 20 years and didnt take the citizenship for a long time as a UK english speaking permenent resident I was required to take an english class that I would be forced to pay for maybe they should look at some of the ridiculous rules to apply to change from a PR to Citizen! not to mention the really high cost of applying is ridiculous after you have been paying taxes ever stop to think the system is broken?

A permanent residence took 6 months before , I have been waiting for it 2 years and they just say they are a be overcharged of applications. I’m not the only one in the same situation. \nTo be citizen you need to have at least two years as PR. Delayed application responses have consequences in the long time.

You have to see what happened around the world,without going too far , the USA have a big problem with homelessness, 100 times more than Canada , obviously Canada is only 10% of the American population, our system in the hospital are treated in accordance to the grade of injuries the more severe are look after before your broken arm, over someone hurt in a car accident , so the attention goes to the more serious issues, but still you get care regardless how long you been waiting , unlike the USA sent you home if you don’t have health insurance,credit card , or cash to look after your problem , they will direct you to the emergency were you can wait for hours behind dozens of people waiting to see a doctor, some people had died waiting to see a doctor, our system is not perfect but nobody will let you died because you have no insurance ,money , or credit card , \nWhy people are leaving the country , is because the cost of living has skyrocketing to the point of no return , if you can only work to pay your rent and eat poorly, but with no possibility to save for the future it’s a wasting time to stick around ,and the people coming to Canada will find our system is not perfect and the image of Canada is tannish , but only people with highly educated will find they pathway to a high standards of living if you can make over 90.000 dollars and 180.000 for working couples in high demand

Canada has always been expensive. I moved here from Texas for my wife. This isn't the same Canada I moved to though. It's far worse. The job market is crap. It's difficult to get a job in your field. It's easy to get useless jobs that have no long term career opportunities. Real estate is atrocious. Ninety year mortgages? That's just crazy. I don't foresee owning a home in Canada. Rent has gotten so high we refuse to move. We need a bigger place, but we can't afford it. The healthcare is not good, and the wait times are ridiculous. I got better healthcare when I paid out of pocket, but under provincial insurance it's pretty bad. It also doesn't have full healthcare like the UK. At least paying for insurance in the States, everything was covered. Wages suck, benefits are generally bad or nonexistent. My wife is finally about ready to get the hell out.

All the reasons you cited are legit. And you’re right to say that it’s all relative depending on where you come from. If you lived in Canada for a long time, you will probably cite all the reasons. But if you’re from another country specially from a third world country, Canada is very much better to improve their lives. For me, housing, expenses and weather are the most important reasons to leave Canada. It’s all relative.

I lived in Canada for over 20 long suffering cold years. My rent in 1982 in Kamloops for a large two bedroom appartment was 105 bucks a month. Then when I moved back to Toronto and got an apartment right on Young at Grosvenor our rent shot up to a tough 620 bucks a month (all utilities included) but I was making a lot of money so it seemed like the good life. I wonder how expensive that luxury high rise is today? Probably about $4500 per month would be my guess. Canadians don't like to talk of the negatives in Toronto, but I feel really sorry for some of my family still there. My mother in law broke her back. All they could do is give her pain killers for the four months before she could get penciled in for surgery. And that was before it all went to hell. It's nice to see so many shots of places that were once so much a part of my life, but in all honesty moving to the States was the best thing I ever did. It was in fact like an escape from madness. Now similar crazyness is here, even on the South East coast of the US. Time to look for another escape. Any suggestions?\nOh, and my friends cousin got murdered in the Jane and Finch area years ago. Listened to your vlog and I want to suggest few things as an immigrant myself... I am not sure of your detials but seems like your husband came back after 2 months leaving you there with family.. I have rarely seen any family settling abroad unless they have seriously burnt all there bridges back home.. if you start with a mindset that let's go and see and if doesn't work out we will come back 90% odds are you will go back.. firstly come with absolutely clear mind that no matter what happens you are not going back.. and you will make it here no matter what. The journey will become much easier and one directional.. Secondly you do not have to rely on any family abroad to move.. this is an other mistake people make.. they think they will have support but this support is actually a limiting option ... it doesn't let you get on feet quicker. Nobody can support you for long abroad and sooner than later you have to get on your feet. once you over stay your welcome you can start getting some unwelcoming vibes and then you get depressed thinking there is no one genuinely yours in this country.. you waste your initial time relying on your family.. better start without them in the first place and get going from day one.. and lastly 2 3 months is nothing to settle any where let alone in Canada.. you have to be patient, persistent and focused and after 2 years and after seeing all the calendar and religious seasons twice, you finally start to think of new place as your home.. its hard but in the end it's truly worth it and then you can never go back to India or Pakistan

I made about 65K in 1999. Paid just over 40% in total taxes. Are you sure it's 22K taxes on 100K income? I left Canada a long time ago (not enough jobs, etc. all the reasons you listed, thanks!). It's really strange to hear these topics. I remember in the 1980's people warning about universal healthcare that always results in wait times, in some instances very long wait times. Humans are a broken record: the same warnings, the same actions, the same unfortunate results.

This is changing, but boy is it taking long.\n\n-Canadian complacency and self-imposed politeness. The worst traits we have as a country. As a Jewish “cousin” living in the Southern US, I can definitely appreciate your concerns, especially those related-to the cold, inflation, religious observance, indoctrination, and an over-bearing government…. Assuming that they would be supportive and good role models, are your children’s grandparents still alive? Would living near them be an option? Are any uncles, aunts, and cousins available at any potential locations? Suggestion: Some dear friends sold their dream home and left their long-time friends last year to move across the country to live in a property that they had inherited. These friends eventually admitted that they were MISERABLE in their new location and now (12-14 months later) have returned to their “home state.” Unfortunately, their choices have turned-out to be very “costly” in many ways….. Since your children are involved, you may want to consider giving any potential location a 6-12 month “test run” before making an “official” decision….. Maybe it is true wherever you live: the grass always seems greener somewhere else. Well, probably not greener than in the UK or Ireland where it rains a lot and it isn't possible to imagine grass any greener, but you know what I mean. \nIf you want to live in a place where housing is cheap, go to a country where the population is not mushrooming but shrinking. There are towns in Italy where the authorities are selling empty houses (which might need repair or upgrading if left unoccupied for a long time) for ONE EURO and there are places in rural Portugal where property is cheap. And of course there is Eastern Europe. And in Africa.
