India is the 5th largest economies, yet why would people want to move to other countries to seek for a better life? Nothing like your home country my friends, stay there and enjoy the true life. Make your country a true great nation so that you never have to leave to another country.

Ms. Sharma went to Oxford and gave a cringeworthy performance about the supposed strength of Indian passport and how it is the envy of the word. So. didn't expect much substance from the propaganda spreading jingoistic journalist. She conveniently missed mentioning the real reasons why visa applications of Indians get rejected -\n1) Thousands of Indians go on tourists visas only to 'disappear' and never return. It doesn't just happen in Canada, US, UK, Aus but also welcoming countries like Thailand, UAE.\n2) Indian Visa (to visit India) itself is one of the most expensive and complicated to get for foreigners, so other countries have no incentive to make it easier for Indian citizens.\n3) Developed countries know that if they make it 'easier' for Indians to travel to their country, they will end up with tens of thousands who wont want to go back to India. It is already the case when its difficult to get a visa, imagine the situation if its made easier.\n4) Most of the Indian tourists fall under the mass category, they are not like the heavy spending Chinese tourists. We are not the most well behaved, so till we start getting more affluent, we wont be in as much demand.

These people are disg**ting that they think they can just pour into our country illegally and they actually want to do that! My father came from a very tough life in India. He made sure to come over here legally, even though his situation was beyond dire. He’s a man of integrity, more people should have that kind of integrity. Do the right thing or others will force the right thing on you!!??

Parents in India encourage their children to go to foreign countries in the hope of becoming rich! They calculate the U.S. dollar by the Rupee at 1 dollar @ Rs. 86! These Parents are foolish and ignorant! I've visited India many times! These foolish parents always ask me how much dollars I make! STUPID! \nI have no sympathy !

India as a highly populated country which is a huge unorganised mess in every aspect...and the worst part is the developed nations are aware of this. Now use your common sense to understand why the visa rejections.

The only economic parameter that matters is per capita. India currently ranks 122nd in the world based in per capita (that too purchasing power included). India can be the largest economy in the world with a hopeless per capita. One day The Adanis, Ambanis and a few others will be worth 25 trillion USD themselves and India could be the largest economy in the world; yet 95% of its population will rank lower than 120th in the world. Nationalistic emotion can cloud one's judgement. Plus as an ex-Indian, here are things I see constantly - walking upto the edge of the platform to empty their noses, being obnoxious in public, spitting on the side of the road, talking to people about how the country they are in, looted India for centuries, and asking them to return the 45 trillion :D

Please stop criticizing every ranking, every index. Look at the amount of Indian illegal immigrants almost everywhere. UK reported 1lac of them in 2024. Why do you think any country wants this!! I mean Indians are ok to die and enter other countries illegally, drive cabs, become cleaners, earn below minimum wage than to live in India. If developed countries discard immigration restriction then india population would drop by 10 crores

If you look at the trade statistics with China it is very obvious it is just a Chinese colony. India is just a wannabe superpower. If all western countries give easy visas to Indians there will be no more Indians in India.

India should treat countries the same as they treat her. Do not go to Countries that do not want you. Have some respect for yourself.

I am surprised. Here she talks about visa rejections and how India's passport raking has been falling. \n\nIn lecture given by her at Oxford Union she was all gung-ho on how Indian passport is now respected across the globe. And how even British bow to Indians and how other countries are welcoming Indians with folded hands.

It is reported in New Zealand that a huge percentage of Indian visa applications contain false information and Indian's make up a high proportion of illegal immigrants in NZ, hence the scruitiny that Indian passport holders are under when applying for a visa to visit, work or study in NZ. Human trafficking is also an issue NZ is trying to stamp out and India is a source country of illegally trafficked people.

Hasn't Indians already milked the hell out of America, Canada and UK ? Everyone sees Indians as opportunists, Indians don't have loyalty towards anyone but themselves. Being one of the largest immigrant community in western countries. Truly, how much revenue are these indians pumping into economy of these countries ? Hardly any.....cause most of their money goes to India. Yet they continue to depleting all the resources of the western countries.

That’s why.\n\nIt sounds like she’s trying to make an argument that this rule shouldn’t apply to Indians because India’s economy is powerful. You need to convince this fact to the Indians who are leaving India, because if you can’t even sell this point to those Indians leaving India, then you don’t even have a case.

The problem is that when they ask for a tourit visa, they stay and want to work. Europeans and Americans as well as people ftom the rich Ara nations go to Infia as a tourist and then go back to their country. Thailand and Vietnam allow more Indians be ause Indians do not want to work there. We are right. We must not give visas unless we need the person. India should fo the same.

Well india now has more than 1 billion middle class people looking to travel abroad. Lots of countries cannot handle the sheer number of indian tourists. India gets more than 70% of the usa H1B Visas so it's already getting most of the world's Visas. Maybe Indians should stay home and support states like Goa that are suffering from a lack of tourists

If India is the 5th biggest economy then why r its citizens going abroad. This 5th biggest economy just seems like full of hot air and immigration of its citizens suggests they r poor looking for a better country ?

Offcourse India is third largest economy, but UNICEF reports show 22% Indian household don't have toilets, 58% preschool had no toilet. And 90% Indian don't return after they landed 1st world country.

Simple basic reason. Many Indians want to migrate out of India … illegally. They are asking travel tourist visas for transit countries with the aim of going to country of destination. Most of them are aiming for the US.

Well India does the same for small countries like Sri Lanka.

The question that I have is why so many Indians are soooo desperate to leave India. Maybe you should focus your anger on India's corrupt political class for impoverishing India, rather than other nations for rejecting Indian visas? Other countries (like America) are struggling too, and simply can't afford to keep importing cheap labor from India :(

India is a big country. Indians in America are the highest earning ethnic group for good reason. Their education and employment backs it up. However, the illiterate bunch that Canada imported from Punjab who by trade are farmers, truck drivers, taxi drivers and other labor intensive workers, is the reason why Canadians are pissed. The majority of the “students” barely speak English, which makes you wonder if the IELTS is even legit. Add the fact that cost of living is through the roof, Canada is a shitshow. The blame goes to: a. India b. Canada \n\nIndia is to blame for not having oversight over these so called “consultants” who help with immigration abroad. These agencies work with fake schools to allow so called students to emigrate. \n\nCanada is at fault for not doing their due diligence when issuing visas. Trudeau is a communist and single handedly destroyed Canada with his buddy, Jagmeet, by bringing all those Punjabis into Canada. Those Punjabis belong on a farm or driving a truck in India, not in Canada. Smart Indians want nothing to do with Canada now and this in turn will hurt Canada grow as a nation.

Worlds 5th largest economy with over 300million living on less than 4$ aday, extreme unsanitary cities and almost 1.5 billion people aint much of an achievement... U.S lip service period has expired and countries are starting to see true India, riding the wave of U.S support and propaganda will only get you so far

Facts, Indian F1 students are submit fake documents like security deposits in bank (scam), the reason of study (fake), job experience after education (fake), interview process (fake) during CPT, OPT even on H1. I took nearly 40 interviews in 2024 out of which 28 are with Indian background, 24-25 of them are trying to cheat the process in different ways. 2-3 are genuine but they lack skill. Now the people like Palki are trying to lecture about India in Oxford? ?????

They are rejecting Indians because they want their country to become like India. That's a wise decision.

As an American I had great love for Indians while growing up together in school. After we graduated I even travelled twice to India ( Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai) for vacations.\nHowever, my experience in India was unbelievable. \nAs a young American at that time I never believed Indians could have such horrible characters even when my parents and close friends had told me about it earlier.\nAfter my experience in India I decided to pay closer attention to any Indian I came across in the US, and surprisingly i discovered Indians are not only very corny by nature but are also very self centered, greedy and selfish kinds of humans. Although not all Indians, but 8 out of 10% naturally have this character which is disgusting indeed.\nFor a long time most people never noticed that about Indians because they pretend to be quiet and mostly gentle. However behind an Indian soft and gentle appearance lays very corny, crooked, self centered, and double standard fellows.\nAnyone who doubts my observations should also make the research by themselves.\nYes, they are good bad and ugly people in every race and country, but Indians are clearly out of the context as their double standard and corny life styles of extreme pretence are undiscovered danger to any society.

Madam Palki Sharma, this must be taken up with our Honourable PM and External Minister Affairs who hold very good dialogue with many countries. This is really the urge of times. India being at 85th in the ranking is something really a questionable while India remains in the top five economies of the world. As you highlighted few nations who are ahead of ranking from that of India. It is really a high burden on our Government to take up this matter and India's ranking should not be beyond 30.
