The irony is that the US have for the past 40 decades preached the gospel of doing the right thing, no matter the cost, sticking for what is right, the tortured hero tale, the importance and responsibility that comes with great power, in movie after movie, show after show, to now siding with the biggest bully on the planet. If we (Europeans) ate it up (the media) , i can’t imagine how confused some north americans might be right now. I feel sorry for you guys

Donald Trump is an utter moron who is really doing this to show off his “power”.\n\nTrump is a “very smart guy”? Why dignify this ridiculous power trip?

The American government agencies and institutions have been weakened, as well as their healthcare and educational systems. Their relationships with allies and friends, North and South, have been strained, global allies have grown skeptical of the United States, and everywhere the US has given away its soft power, a vacuum was created that will now be filled with China or Russian influence. Every enemy of the US longed for this moment, and Donald Trump and JD Vance handed them this unnecessary win. America is past the point of no return; No one will come to help and rescue their most vulnerable. From this moment on, turning this around depends on every American in opposition to tyranny, abuse, and dictatorial leadership.

Canada has been part of a family with the USA for decades, and to see it all in jeopardy now is appalling. \nNeed I remind our governance here in the US that CANADA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SEVERAL ARTICLES OF THE GENEVA CONVENTIONS (and not because they drafted the resolutions!)?? \nBottom line is Trump is causing a worldwide upheaval that is going to completely realign the power and economies of EVERY nation on earth, and the US is not going to fare well. \nPathetic.

The problem is the US runs a deficit of 6% and piles up public debt although unemployment is extremely low , so instead of raising income tax or other social security contributions, the new administration tries to get money from tariffs, it will work like an increase of VAT . Cutting expenditure and increasing income to finance the federal budget through tariffs is another way to reduce deficits. The price however is to loose a lot of partners and the status of a super power.

The convicted criminal and his vice president exercising abuse of power, beings without values, without respect for human life. The words do not match their actions. The liar will not get off scot-free, true ignorance is not the absence of knowledge, but the fact of refusing to acquire it, the worst thing is to deal with an ignorant person and it is especially dangerous if the ignorant has power. Good speech but it is better to address the rightful concerns expressed by Trump and his Commerce Secretary, in an indoor meeting and adjust Canada’s policies where it can be done easily in partnership with U.S. Diplomacy and honesty is needed, not posturing! \n\nTrump is here to stay for 4 years with full powers and working with him after initial show off of resistance is the key to reduce pain for both sides.

If this speech doesn’t force Trump to think again, then Trump will be cementing his Dumb actions into history and Common knowledge. This was a powerful and Concise speech.

I am a patriotic American. I apologize to Canada for what Trump has put Canada through and what he intends to do to Canada in the future. The reason for this 'trade war' is not about 'trade'. It's about 'creating chaos' so that president Trump is the 'centre' of world attention. A malignant naracistic individual apparently cannot have anyone seemingly to be 'doing better' or being more successful than he is. Thats why apparently there are some who now want to crash the Canadian economy and when times then 'get tough' the blame and responsibility for this chaos will be accepted by whom. Presidents and Prime Ministers come and go. Once their 'term is over' they simply 'walk away'. World leaders need to be men or women of integrity and honesty who 'do the right thing'. With 'great power' comes 'great responsibility'. You only 'give responsibility' to someone who has the wisdom and expertise and understanding in order to both 'hold' and 'govern' wisely and without fear or favor. Maybe its time for others in positions of authority in other institutions to step in and 'take control'. You would never let a child drive a super car on the highway so how much 'damage' has to happen before a world leader is not 'held to account' and his 'hands removed' from the steering wheel before there is a motor accident so large that the freeway is rendered unless and has to be totally shut down your. You cannot have total power in the hands of individuals who apparently do not possess the necessary skills knowledge and experience and wisdom that is required to fulfil the role they were elected to fulfil. A person with the mind and mentality of a child apparently is not a fit person to be running the economy of any nation.
