If I currently import a t-shirt from Mexico for 10.00 and sell it in the US for 15.00, I make 5 dollars in profit which I use to pay my staff and keep my business running. When Trump puts a 25% tariff on that t-shirt, it now costs me 12.50.You think I am going to eat 2.50 per t-shirt. No, I'm now going to charge you, the consumer, 17.50 for the same t-shirt because my cost of doing business has not gone down. You all really need to do some research and understand tariffs. I'm not moving my business to the US. I'm still getting the same amount of money for my products. The US consumer is footing the bill....

Sometimes, what seems like an ‘evil’ situation can bring blessings to others. Trump acts like we make SOOOOO much here in the US that we can function alone. FALSE! We make damn near NOTHING here. We rely too heavily on other countries in every aspect of our lives; food, clothing/footwear, shelter/building construction material, automotive even down to hygiene products . I have ethnic background from Hong Kong and have been living in Canada for almost 40 years. I love Canada and am proud of this beautiful country. However, I think part of the immigration problem we have is the ongoing issue of allowing dual citizenship of everyone who have become a Canadian citizen. I have personally known lots of HK immigrants who would return to their own countries to work as soon as they have got their Canadian passports. Normally one of the parents would stay with their children here for free schooling, medical care and child tax benefits. Their children will follow their parents to go back to HK after they graduated from universities in order to avoid the higher income tax . Unfortunately, those parents will come back to retire in Canada so that they can get free health care benefits and OAS once they have fulfilled the residency requirement of 10 years. Canada do need more skilled and educated immigrants to make our country more prosperous but not those who try to take advantage of our lenient immigration policies. I think we should take back the passports of those who have left Canada for more than 2 years or those who have evaded taxes so that we do not continue to support those never contributed to our country. PS, I mentioned about HK only because of my origin and I believe the same problem would be caused by immigrants from other countries too.

If you make over $220 Cdn, expect 50% tax if in Ontario. Then you have high property tax, high sales tax, tax tax to pay for a crumbling health care system and education system. If you need social support, come to Canada! The others will support you through our taxes! lol socialism sucks

They make fake stories to apply for asylum. Then before going for the hearing, they open the papers, go over the fake story they created for asylum, so they don’t forget what they wrote in papers. First of all Canada and America are European colonization countries. Because of their sense of superiority they managed to genocide and wipe out the culture of the indigenous natives of that place and replace it with their own. Living in Montreal, so MANY French people come here with their free education, take up jobs, housing (that locals NEED) and contribute nothing back into our economy, then leave once they get their PR to Toronto or try to make their way to America/New York. Legault need to STOP letting them get a free ride in our Country as well. I have cousins who are illegal immigrants, I’ve been trying to sponsor my wife to come here legally and it has been the most dreadful process I’ve ever been through. Meanwhile these guys are here already receiving food stamps and housing. I make 220k a year. I pay my fair share in taxes and don’t need any government assistance. I’m definitely for returning illegals that are jamming the immigration system.

We don't need to deport them. Just make it where any company or business found employing them is immediately shuttered and the management imprisoned. The company assets are then sold off at auction to pay fir the employees deportation. Same for housing like apartments, condos, etc.\n\nMedical care refused for all illegals except kids 16 and under. Same for schools. No high school education for illegal kids. (Kids shouldn't be punished for their parents actions)\n\nFinally, stop giving citizenship to kids born in the US unless at least one parent is a legal US citizen. \n\nRefuse to issue marriage licenses unless one is legal as well.

There is a very big problem with trump's xenophobic screed to create fear and hate of immigrants. Instead of addressing the need to fix the difficulties immigrants face to enter the country legally or how many legal immigrants we will need to grow the country - we have demonized immigrants for trying to make a better life in the US.?

Immigration and immigration policies does not include illegal immigration. Do we need to massively overhaul the laws to make it easier and open it up, yes.

Any politician/corporation/CEO that supports, ignores or enables the breaking of laws, should be considered to be in breach of those laws as well. Any one that makes use of or allows illegal (as in breaking the law) immigration/immigrants should be removed from the post and jailed. \n\nWhy do liberals progressives think they are above the law or that they only need to follow the laws that they want too? I can only hope Canada, the UK, the US and EU see extreme changes to our immigration and protections put in place for citizens and our cultures in the future.

Interestingly enough, the clip where the girl is complaining about having the rent increased by $7000 is not Trudeau's fault (Liberal government) but Doug Ford's, who's Conservative and the premier (like a governor in the US) of Ontario. He removed the limits on rent increases on properties occupied for the first time after Nov 15 2018. So now, if you want make a few more bucks or just kick someone out just jack the rent so they can't afford it and have to leave (usually you can't just end a lease agreement because you want to but not anymore as you can just increase it to whatever you want). Limits exist for a reason unless you're at the top and want to make more without any regard to people that are struggling.\n\nWhat I'm trying to say is that I don't think the Conservatives will do better than the Liberals, they're just different flavours of garbage. We do need real change, unfortunately I don't think it will happen.

To all those supporting the cracking down on these ‘illegals’ there’s something I need to know. Tell me, if they folks had an option to immigrate legally, would they? Do you think it’s some kind of malicious effort to come here against the law, or are they coming here out of desperation? Many of these people come from places like Haiti, Colombia, or Guatemala. Places that the CIA and American tax dollars destroyed. I really don't see why this is controversial. You HAVE to moderate immigration regardless of your own political leaning, and to do this you need to deport anyone who slips through the cracks. Make immigrating legally take less time and be less complicated, this is how you encourage legal immigration while also discouraging illegal immigration.

I am definitely ok on cracking down illegal immigration and there should be criminal charges for employers that employ these migrant workers with slave wages. However with that being said to deport almost 20 million people that make up more than 50% agricultural workers in the country is a logistical nightmare. Once these migrants go these jobs will need to be filled presumably by Americans that command higher wages. I mean if Trump said he wanted to bring cost of groceries down this might not turn into a good plan.

However, as soon as the hk pathyway people landed, they enjoyed the same benefits immediately as the locals(liked free education, local student fee for university, Child care benefits) which the locals felt were unfair. The days they (hk pathway people)contributed in Canada are very short, and the benefits they receive are far greater than the taxes and contributions they pay. The locals just feel that the benefits they enjoy today are indeed the contributions they have made to society (including paying taxes) over the years. It is reasonable to get a reward for how much they have paid and contributed, but it is unfair for those Hk pathway people to enjoy the same benefits as locals. \n\nThe hk pathway temporarily policy need to be amended. They shouldn’t receiving full benefits as locals while waiting for PR, they should pay the international student fees. Also, too many hk people abuse this policy, use fake academic qualifications to study, and then their whole family receives CCB , also enjoy local students is unfair to our locals. There are a lot of scammers around the world. It is in your duty to identify them and never fall as prey. It's not Canada's fault that you are getting deported for false information. Federal government officials needs to investigate and arrest those who are involved and responsible for helping the illegal immigrants to enter the country too… make them pay for it.

The fact that we have so many people in the US undocumented and living here for decades tells us that our legal process is not sufficient for allowing people to come legally. Having that many people tells us we need to treat this as a policy problem, not an individual-making-bad-choices problem. And spending billions of dollars on border patrol tactics that still allow for so many illegap immigrants tell us that our resources are grossly misspent. Plus we treat legal asylum seekers as if they were illegal (depriving people of food, keeping them from crossing in the first place) so people will choose whatever method will get them here. People can be here legally for well over a decade before getting a green card and then even longer to get citizenship.

They keep talking about losing a huge part of the workforce with mass deportations. So Americans aren’t looking for work? I’ve worked for Amazon for 3 and a half years now. I transferred from Va back home to ny last October. In va Americans are being hired. In ny Amazon is literally hiring nothing but Haitians. We hire a hundred and twenty people every year between July and January for prime and peek. I promise you without any iota of exaggeration, every last new hire is Haitian. I know of plenty of ppl who have applied to no avail. They really need to say if you’re American don’t apply. They get tax credits for hiring them. And because of this they do little to no work because they know nothing will happen to them. So all of the work falls on us . Out of the 120 new hires this year and last year 115 are under 27. They try to alienate us , intimidate us,and are extremely rude to anyone who isn’t Haitian. These are young people who are on straight gang time. I’m a black man telling you this and I’m from the street. It took me 6 years to finally make 20 dollars an hr, they come right over making the same as me while I’m working harder to accommodate their lack of productivity and at the same time hope I don’t lose my job for standing up to their rudeness and intimidation tactics. But the media will have ppl convinced that these are hard working meek and humble ppl just trying to make a better life for them and their families. I’m 45 years old and every year of my life we have always had a block party every summers end . For the last three years none. Because my neighborhood has been inundated with migrants who don’t care to assimilate.

If your not an immigrant it maybe difficult for you to understand this but the immigrants who did it correctly and spent 10-15 years in line believe in fairness and opportunity the RIGHT way! In response to the judging of immigrants. Interesting how we rarely see immigrants on our street corners asking for a handout. Instead they're at work making just barely enough to eventually have their own business in a few years. Latinos are a workforce and stimulate the economy because its a lot of hard work to maintain and sustain this country. Who's gonna do all that hard work when they're deported. Maybe our spoiled and privileged teens? All industries will suffer a void in their workforce causing products and service prices to increase. I am a double hater cant stand Trump and I am a farmer, i dont use immigrants because i just grow crops that can be mechanically harvested and I have a small farm, But in the past I used to manage large farms where we had a lot of immigrants most were illegal and people don't understand why they're illegal It's because there is an arbitrary cap on how many migrants can come from Guatemala and Mexico if they wanted to come legally just a normal worker They have a 60-year waiting list so it's just impossible to come here legally. Most of these people are very hardworking good people that come here to work for 5 to 7 years save up money and then go back to Mexico or Guatemala build a house and start a business in their own country. \n\nThis year i begrudgingly voted for trump because for me the biggest issue is with the federal and state regulations that make farming much harder than it needs to be especially regulations on diesel engine emissions that cost me tens of thousands of dollars a year and many months of not being able to use my equipment that I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on. First Trump's administration is going to be jacked up with little known outliers with controversial and radical ideas. That is what Trump is attracted to. His ideas of tariffs and mass deportations are deplorable. They both disadvantage the US instead making it better. However, the tariffs may as well be a scam to get companies profits as when Trump says 10% on item A, companies are going to raise the cost of item A 12 to 15% or so and blame the cost increase on tariffs. For deportation's, I hope most people realize that many working the fields as low wage labor are very well illegals, but they are hired because they keep food costs low. Raising all prices for the poor Republicans will not be beneficial because prices on goods can increase 15% or more but their employer is certainly not going give them a 15% raise to match the cost of living. So Trump has already made the business environment good for more profits by planning to make life more expensive for everyone so business can absorb the additional profits. Probusiness politicians help businesses make money and that money comes from households and the government. And making the government spend more means the government needs to tax more. But TRump is cutting taxes for the people that have the most money. And Trump raising prices with tariffs justs makes households poorer and business richer. Naturally, the stock market will record highs when all the indicators are that business will be making much greater profits from households when Trump takes office.
